Printing in colour and gray scale

Can I print page 1 in colour and rest in gray scale in booklet form?

Hi Michael
Thank you for your response.  I am using a Toshiba studio2820c and have been printing using Acrobat's booklet function.  I have managed to produce my booklet in the required format by printing and then scanning.  My original in Publisher is greyscale and colour - I wasnt sure how to save to greyscale?  If I could do this it would give me a better finished job as I am printing, scanning and printing.
Thank you for your help.
Regards
Julie

  • Difference between intensity and gray scale value

Hi I am a new learner of NI vision, please bare with me.
    1. I am quite confused by the terms of light intensity and gray scale value of pixels. Can anyone explain the difference to me? Or are they totally same thing?
    2. I am currently processing a Grayscale (I16) image file. The bit depth of the image is 12 Bits. But I saw someone used IMAQ Histograph with the Number of Classes set as 8192(13 Bit), don't know why.
    Thanks, Jane

    Hello Jane,
    1. Correct, gray scale and intensity are the same thing.
    2. The number of calsses one selects is a judgement call.  By increasing or decreasing the number of classes the more or less granular the histogram becomes.  Without some context I cannot speculate as to why someone would use 8192 classes.

  • MY PRINTER ONLY PRINTS IN COLOUR, AND I WANT TO ONLY PRINT IN BLACK AND WHITE

    HI, AND GREETINGS,
IVE BEEN TRYING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME BUT I CANNOT FIND A SOLUTION TO IT. IVE WANTED TO PRINT SOME DOCUMENTS BUT IN BLACK AND WHITE ONLY - INSTEAD OF COLOUR BUT I CANT SEEM TO FIND THE SETTING IN WHICH I CAN TURN OFF THE COLOUR, AND TO JUST USE BLACK INK
    MY PRINTER IS:
HP COLOUR LASERJET PRO MFP M177FW
AND I AM USING A MACBOOK PRO 2010 VERSION
WOULD LOVE TO GET A RESPONSE FROM YOU GUYS TO HELP ME OUT,
    KINDEST REGARDS,
    W3 GUD

    Hi @W3GUD ,
I see that you would like to set the printer to print with just the black toner. I would like to help you out with this issue today.
Depending on which operating system you are using and what driver was installed for the printer, the Grayscale option should be under Paper/Quality.
From the application, go to File, Print, click on the dropdown for the printer preferences and select Paper/Quality.
Click on the Color Options dropdown and then select Grayscale.
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Laserjet M177fw)
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
What operating system are you using? Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • Color ID doc prints MOST elements in gray scale.

Please help.  I'm at the end of my rope.  Deadline looming.
I have an ID document that is ALL color.  When I go to print it, no matter if it's set for ID color management or printer color management, most elements of the page come out in gray scale.  It's a perfect representation of the document, only in grays.  Oddly, there are elements that print in color.  Even weirder, one object from an AI file will print in perfect color, but another object from the same AI file into the same ID doc will print gray.
Everything is CMYK.  I even use Bridge to control colors between programs.  I cannot figure this out.
    Any advice?
ps... not sure it matters, but I am printing on an HP cp2025dn.  Windows 7.  CS5.

    Try another printer.

  • Mac book pro stopped printing in colour and is now printing a grainy image instead.  How to remedy this situation

My Mac Book Pro (Retina) was printing in colour on a shared printer at the office.  It is now printing in Black and White with a very grainy blurred image.  Will the ColorSync Utility be of any help?  The colour option isn't in the print prompt when printing from iphotos.  Any advice would be appreciated.  thank you

    Hello Courious7,
It sounds like you are unable to print in color but it used to work without issue. Assuming no changes have been made to the printer by the IT department, these troubleshooting steps should lead you to a resolution:
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3147
Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Printing Maps (dividing and to scale)?

    Hi All.
I am looking to print out a road bike map for an area outside of my town and I have a scan of a highly detailed print map. This is finely detailed but too small and I would like to print out some of the areas at a larger size so I can take them with me. Also, the print map goes to other pages at inconvenient points so I have "stitched them together" at the seams in the digital version.
I would like to take /sections/ of this scan so that I can print them on 8 1/2 x 11 inch waterproof paper and I am having a couple issues.
    1. I would like to subdivide some of the areas to 8 1/2 x 11 (or in this case to some smaller but /proportionally/ similar size so that I can blow it up to 8 1/2 x 11). Is there software that will let me create a kind of cookie cutter template that I can move around and take copies or copy to clipboards so that I can create a series of these?
I have Aperture, Photoshop Elements 3 (I know), Preview and Picasa.
    2. I'd love some kind of map functionality that let me do this with a series of set overlaps so some of the info on one sheet was also on the edge of the next sheet and so on.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Hotwheels -- sorry, I don't have time to retype a long message I lost before posting.  I started by saying "Ideas?  That's the easy part :-)".  Here's a summary of the rest:
    1. Make a lot of Versions and crop each one to the aspect ratio you need.
    2. Make a spreadsheet of X, Y, Width, & Height values (in pixels) that fits with the size of the pages, the print size on the page, the pixels per inch of the print, and the overlap you want between pages.  Make a lot of Versions and put those parameters in the Crop Brick.  Print all the Versions.  There are two tricky parts.  One, you have to understand how Crop uses X, Y, Width, and Height.  Practice!  Make a diagram.  Two, there are two sets of offsets involved.  One set is offset from X and Y that determines the Width and Height, the other is the offset from X1 and Y1 to X2 and Y2.  This second set of offsets should equal the first offset minus the overlap you want.
    Good luck.

  • How to print a downloaded color document in black or gray scale

I have Adobe Reader 9; Windows Vista Home Premium; HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless printer.  I have downloaded a document that is pre-set to print in color.  I want to print it in black or gray scale.  I click on the printer icon for the printing pop up.  When I click on the Properties bar to make the request for black or gray scale, nothing happens.  What steps can I take to convert the pre-set color download to be printed in black or gray scale?  Thanks!

I have only had the experience when I have downloaded a link from within an email to my Hotmail account when the download has already been set up in color.  To date, I have not had that problem with Word.       There are specifically two situations regarding two different monthly emailed newsletters.  This is through Internet Explorer 8; Windows Vista Home Premium.  (I will not use Internet Explorer 9.  It causes blocks for routine procedures, especially involving my Hotmail account--such as not being able initially to download a normal attachment or, if downloaded, not being able to print a normal download attachment.)     However, after I sent out my request for help, I switched to Mozilla Firefox and was able to print the "color" download in black right away because the Preferences bar responded as it should.  (Through Internet Explorer 8, regarding this particular link/download/attachment, the printing pop up had a Properties bar.  However, I am aware that, in some other pop up formats, there are both a Properties bar and a Preferences bar to choose from.)       I have Mozilla Firefox as a backup because, sometimes, I have to resort to it to download email attachments (whether black or color) coming from the east coast when they will not download through Internet Explorer 8.  (I am near the geographic center of the US.)     Thank you for your interest in my concern.  I will gladly accept any advice regarding being able to print an email attachment/link color download in black when using Internet Explorer 8!  Does it depend on how the link attachment is set up or what the link attachment is??

  • Problem Monitor and print different colours

As a newbie to colour management and my monitor showing one shade? of colour and the print another, I have bought Spyder express 2 suite to try and bring to two together I am using photoshop 7 and XP.
My printers are an Epson R200 & R2400
In the color settings window in photoshop currently are a custom setup working spaces spaces RGB 1998; euroscale coated; gray gamma 2.2 and dot gain 20%
Color management all set to preserve embedded profiles
Are these settings an acceptable starting point or are their better settings
Sorry if this question is to basic but I would like to reach the bottom rung on the ladder to what you see is what you get
    Thanks in advance
    DaveH

What print settings are you using?
Set the Espon to 'let photoshop manage colour ' and scroll the printer profile down to either stylus photo R200 or stylus photo R2400 . This give better results when using canned profiles.
I have custom printer profiles for my 3800 and the colours are now spot on when they previously had a nasty magenta bias.
If that fails - try ' let printer manage colours ' and do a test print with various colour changes within the driver.

  • How do I print in black and white with HP Deskjet 5740?

I have just updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. With Snow Leopard, and an HP Deskjet 5740 printer, I could choose to print in draft or best quality, black and white only or in full colour, and had various other options. Now I am not offered these options in the print dialogue: the printer always prints in colour and I cannot choose whether to print in best or draft quality. I would be grateful for any tips on how to recover printing options. Many thanks.

I have a different HP, but see if this helps:
You can also select Greyscale, and even only the Black Cartridge:
(you can save it as a Preset)

  • I have Mac OS X 10.6.8 and am trying to change a printer to black and white/gray scale. All the posts I find refer to a button for Paper Quality. This does not appear on my options. Just paper handling which does not have a function to change from colour.

I cannot change the printer settings on my MacBook Pro to gray scale from colour. there is no function for Paper quality, just paper handling. any suggestions greatly appreciated - as long as they work!!

Was the printer instance properly configured when created, so the print subsystem picked the correct PPD and knows of all the device's capabilities? If in doubt, erase and create anew so you can confirm that the printer maker/model/version is getting correctly identified. This may trigger Software Update to download & install a printer update. The menus available on the print dialog depend on what the OS knows the printer can do. For instance, this is what I get in Safari's print dialog when using an HP 2550Ln color laser at the office:

  • Changes, or loss of quality when changing from Indexed Colour to RGB or Gray Scale?

I am using a canon scanner 700 to scan old photographs and plans/maps for high resolution publication. The plans and photographs are both in colour and in bl/wh and grayscale. I usually scan in gray scale unless its an important, coloured plan.
I am unable to scan through c5 for some reason. Its a 64 bit dell M4400, W7. All legal, all working fine.
I use the program canon supplies (Canon MP Navigator EX 2.1) and choose grayscale, 1200 dpi. No problem so far. Output seems great when I open in photoshop.
However, the files open in Indexed Colour mode, and not grey scale as I scanned them in.
    My questions are :
    a) why does it open in indexed colour mode?
    b) is there any loss of information if I simply change them into grey scale?
I need the files in high res for professional publication in large format, but also for analysis of dimensions. So I cannot afford ANY transformation or loss of info.
Hope somebody can help me out!
