Printing in Flash 7

Hi, I'm developing for version 7 of the flash player and I'm
wondering if there is any good way to print a page, or allow a user
to print a page to their printer that automatically makes it
centered on the page and filling the whole page assuming a standard
81/2 by 11 print setup? I want to print a certificate of
completion. Is it possible to print to pdf directly from flash or
is there any other way to do this?

I have been using the print() in Flash MX and it was working
fine as i required that is the image was printed int he center of
the page. But, now with the latest Flash Player 8, it is being
print from the top of the page, how to get this center with the
player? Do, i need to add the latest printjob() script for this or
is there any other option to attain this?

Well, i know that we can put a bounding box for the area to
be printed, but the problem here is to print the bounding area not
from the starting of the page but should be centered to the page. I
hope you got me.

Printing a Flash File to PDF

I am an Educator and I use Flash almost exclusively to create graphic organizers for my students. I have Flash CS3 on my macbook, and just upgraded to Flash Pro CC.
I am able to print a document sized Flash file (No aminations, etc) to a PDF file with CS3, is this possible with CC?

Printing (File->Print or programmatically) has been removed from Flash CC at this time.
If you have Acrobat Pro you can import a SWF to create the PDF in that manner. InDesign should work also.
Typically if you subscribe to Flash CC you can download Flash CS6 because Flash CC entirely lacks ActionScript 2.0 support as well as TLFTextFields. CS6 supports those, is still 32bit and has a Print command. Check your Creative Cloud download panel to see if you can get Flash Pro CS6.

My printer started Flashing the"!" & message

I need help on why my HP Officejet 5610 All-in-one is flashing "!" & messaging that my "Right cartridge isn't intended for this printer "when I just printed with no problem. I reinstalled the cartridge but the printer warning hasn't changed and I can't clear anything & use the printer.

Sorry to hear that you are having issue with error messages on the printer. If you have the printer power cable connected to a power bar/strip, please remove it and connect the power cable direct to a wall outlet. Printer Properties Flashes and doesn't open

Hello Everyone,
I am working in domain network and i had connected HP M1530 MFP shared printer. The printer is well connected and showing online but, when i try to click on properties after using Ctrl+P it was just flashing once and not opening the properties.
any help will be appreciable.

What happens if you open the properties under "Devices and Printers"?
What happens if you open properties by Ctrl +P, right click the printer>run as administrator>properties?

Printing from Flash

(I just changed my first posting in this thread to give it a
new headline. The original one was "SWF embedded in a PDF - can
they communicate?", but it turned into a printing thread - with a
solution.)
I'm trying to build a printable form with multimedia help
(this is a free project, I don't get paid). Since I can't create
PDF from Flash I instead try to get the Flash into the PDF. It
would be very helpful (although probably not essential for this
particular project) if the embedded Flash could communicate with
the PDF on the outside, for example using ExternalINterface. That
interface is for communication with Javascript in a browser - and
since Acrobat forms support Javascript scripting I was wondering if
that would work? The docs only mention browsers.
Another question to achieve the same thing: I thought about
letting the user fill out the form in Flash completely. Then I
export the collected data into XML, and then open a PDF form which
reads the XML. However, I don't think there's a non-manual (for the
user) way of doing this, is there? Ahhhhhhrg, stupid project, why
did I volunteer...

Well flash can do the printout as well...so you don't need
the PDF exclusively for that. I think the difficulty is the local
copy working without complications/complexity. {UNLESS: you're
prepared to use a projector .exe}
When you embed a swf inside a PDF how is it embedded... ? Is
the embedded object able to be referenced, for example, using the
js inside a PDF.
Its been a long time since I used acrobat. ExternalInterface
does allow communication between the flash content and its
container - in a generic sense - like kglad explained earlier. So
ExternalInterface works in visual basic for example. It doesn't
appear to work as simply as its set up to work in the browser (see
http://vbfeeds.com/post.aspx?id=672).
Whether it works or how it works inside a pdf would probably depend
on the way the embedding is done, but I can't see anything online
about how to do it - and I am unable to try it myself.

Error Printing using flash paper

I have flashpaper 2.0 installed onto a windows XP Pro SP2, a
particular user is not able to use the flash paper printer. He just
gets Windows XP Printer Error box with 'Error printing - An unknown
error occured'.
There is an entry in the printer's queue, it too is marked
with 'Error - printing'.
When i log in (i'm an admin user) it works fine.
Any clues on where to look?

I have the same problem. Installed Studio 8 with Contribute 3
and FPV2 on WIN XP PRO SP2. I can't print to FlashPaper; I just get
the "Error-Printing" in the print queue. I have admin privledges
but still have the problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled
Contribute twice. I have downloaded FPV2 drivers. I have tried
adding FPV2 drivers through WIN XP 'Add Printer" process and always
the same thing.

Unable to print in flash 8?

I recently came back to using Flash 8, and designed a doc I want to print. I have tried to print from a couple of different computers that are printing word and other filetypes ok. With Flash when I hit the print shortcut or menu Item it brings up the initial print window but then nothing. Watching the print cue it never shows up there. Any idea why the print signal is not being processed?

Go to Help menu >> update
it will update your application to 13.1
then go to Editor 's Edit menu >> Preferences and click on Reset Preference on next launch .
after that relaunch your application..

My printer is flashing 10.00.0 memory error, i have taken the cartridge out and replaced it,

I am using an HP Laser Jet 2430 dtn printer.
All was fine until a little bit ago and it is flashing memory error 10.00.0
It advaised to take out the cartridge and replace it, I did and I am still getting the error, now says contact support.
Any suggestions?

Printing from FLASH without "Print dialog Box" Pop-up window?

hi guys,
i got a flash + OSX question, maybe someone can help me,
i'm working on a Adobe Flash (Flash version 9, actionScript
3) project, running on a MacOS X 10.4, on a core2duo iMac, it is
connected to a printer (Xerox Phaser 6360).
- the flash will be displayed in full screen.
- it is a "create your own postcard- &- print it out"
flash-based multimedia project.
- so Flash will need to print stuff.
issue is:
- everytime when something need to be printed, macOS X will
prompt a "Print Box" pop-up window say Cancel or Print (see my jpeg
below).
- so it might overlap on top of my Flash project, which is
running full screen (so having the pop-up window overlapping my
flash is no good).
so i need a solution to avoid this, any idea?
what i can think of are:
A- is there a way to avoid/by-pass this step? meaning a way
not to show this?
or
B- or is there a shareware/way to "auto-click RETURN button"
so even this screen appear it will be "auto-click" away.
or ..C?
i knew there is a Plug-in (or Xtra) for Macromedia Director
called: Print-o-matic,

Printing in Flash

Ahoy there Adobe forum!
I've a good understanding of flash but not so good when it comes to actionscript. At the moment I'm trying to build a flash site with a print button which will target specific areas of my site (including the contents of a scrollpane) and then fit them to the size of the page. I've spent a long time trying to get this to work, following different tutorials and Googling until my eyes went blurry, with very little success. The deadline approaches and I am getting desperate. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve all of these requirements? Ideally I would love some magical component like videoMaru but that may be a tall order! If someone could please point me in the direction of a decent tutorial or even give me a few quick tips, I would be eternally grateful. I am publishing my swfs for Flash Player 8 with ActionScript 2.

the only way i've found to achieve pixel perfect control of what's being printed is to create a printjob instance, apply the start() method and then use its pageHeight and pageWidth properties to create a movieclip with the precise layout you want attaching exactly the items you want printed.

Print from flash drive

I am trying to print from my computer and from a flash drive....neither is working. Computer says "printer offline", but everything seems to be plugged in and programmed?????

Printing/Copying Flash Charts

I've been adding some flash charts to my application, and people love them. However, I wasn't looking ahead and didn't anticipate people wanting to pull the charts off of the web application to send in emails, power point slides, or printouts. I did find that you can just simply right click the graph and print from there, but converting it to an image format would be a major improvement.
Is there any way to do this? Or possibly some tutorials out there?

I am exploring the Oracle APEX since 2 days and it looks to be a perfect tool for the kind of reports we need to generate. i need to print the reports i generate to pdf. i have gone though the demos and was able to print to pdf using cocoon/Tomcat method as suggested by Carl at http://carlback.blogspot.com/2007/03/apex-cocoon-pdf-and-more.html
but i cant print charts through this. how can i print charts without using BI prublisher, coz my company doesnt want to pay for it!
Also i haven't gone far enough but would appreciate any comment on this. for every report i have 2 or 3 lines of heading or kind of explanation of the report. will this also be printed as part of the report or only the table is exported to pdf?

Using Word input, Robohelp 6
We are in the process of buying the software - and
unfurtulately my demo version ran out.
For online output, I prefer to use Flash, but RH 5X would
only allow you to print the current topic page. In order for the
reader to print a topic PLUS subtopics, you would need to create
chm output.
Does this limitation still apply with v 6?

FlashHelp topics/projects?
Ummm, I think you may be a bit confused about FlashHelp. You
can't currently merge FlashHelp output and search across multiple
projects. Not in the basic FlashHelp output. Now if you are using
RoboHelp 6 and creating FlashHelp
Pro output and publishing that to the RoboHelp Server (an
additional component at an additional charge) it's possible, but
not with the base output.
Printing from .CHM also is fraught with issues. This stems
from the fact that when you do it, a large concatenated temporary
file is created. During that process, the links to your style
sheets become munged and are unable to be found, resulting in less
than satisfactory print.
Because of this, I'd suggest following the PDF route. After
all, that's the selling point of PDF. It faithfully reproduces in
print what you intended. Then provide a link to the PDF for those
that choose to create printed output.
