Printing in GREEN instead of B/W for OS 9 program

This is absolutely baffling to me. I have an ibook G4 that runs OS 10.4. My printer is a HP PSC 1610 all-in-one.
When I try to print a Black & White document (in B/W mode) from a screenwriting program that runs in OS 9, it comes out GREEN! I even tried taking out the color cartridge, but then nothing prints at all. My black cartridge is new, and prints fine from an OS X program like Word.
It was also prints green from my scanning program. Does anyone know why this is? I've heard it might be a color managment issue with the drivers.
iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)
iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

Can you email documents to yourself and then see how the other OS (X)
handles the print job as an order within it? Been a few years since I used
OS9.2.2 full time; then tried OSX back when it was a true beta. Now that
OSX 10.3, etc can choose to make a PDF instead of print, I forget that
wasn't the case in OS 9.2.2.
How old is your iBook, running 10.4? Does it dual boot or only
see OS9 stuff under Classic in X?
Some versions of Office can make a pdf; and I may be mistaken
in what Preview does, I know it reads PDFs.
Somewhere, unless I gave it away, I have software to make PDFs in OS9.
There is an Adobe Digital library of some kind and it does alot more, too.
I'd read where other users had made AppleWorks text docs in OS9 and
then later opened them in OS10.x to get around some printing issues. If
your OSX installation sees the same version (well, almost) AppleWorks
and it runs in Classic as well as OSX, it can be used in OSX without a
launch of OS9. (If your Mac doesn't dual boot; then it'd run under Classic.)
I've used AppleWorks back and forth; so maybe that'd work if you can
use it to move documents between your computer's OSs to work past this.
So maybe AppleWorks can handle the job; and/or emailing it?

Occationally my printer is printing green instead of black.
Sometimes it is from the beginning of a document and sometimes it is the middle of a document.
I have tried to change the cartridge but have the same result.

    Hi @tobby37 ,
I'd like to help you with this issue, the black is printing in green sometimes. You have changed the cartridge and are having the same results.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Try these steps to see if it will resolve the issue.

  • All of a sudden I can't send or receive messages on iPad. Iphone is working fine. It gives me "message failed to send" and is green instead of blue. The only thing I have done differently is turn iCloud on in my iPhone.

cant receive or send messages on my iPad. Keep getting "message failed to send" and it is green instead of blue. This happened after I turned on iCloud on my iPhone. Would that have anything to do with this problem? It's like its not sincing to my phone but I can send & receive emails ok.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printing Blank Pages Instead Of Data And Also Reorienting Itself

    Hi all
We have a wireless HP Officejet Pro 8000 in our office (but via cable, not wireless) to a network.  The printer is occasionally printing blank pages instead of say a spreadsheet selected to print.
The other issue is that if you say are printing two copies of the same spreadsheet, one prints okay (say landscape) and the second copy, selected at the time of printing, prints it portrait but only part of the left hand side of it and the rest is blank.  Coming out of and going back inthe file usually recitifes this.  But it does it again any time it feels like it.
We did have an upgrade, where our IT guy took away our desktop boxes and replaced with smaller base units and everything is run from a main server and alsoan upgrade from Windows 2000 to Network.  Problems started after this and the IT guy did update the printer driver.
Please would anyone be able to assist?  Any help for this frustrating problem gratefully accepted!
    Thanks,
    Saxplayer67

So the issue with the 8000 printer is periodic print jobs do not come out as you are wanting them. Is that right? This is interesting, just from the point of view that generally speaking issues like this are like a light switch, they are either there or they are not - they usually don't come and go. That being said, we are going to see what we  can do to resolve this. First I am going to recommend that we perform a clean installation of the printer after uninstalling it from the machine. By the way, what is the operating system you are working with - Is it Windows 2000 Network?
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3762364
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • HP C6380 photo tray prints only green

The problem started when I installed my new computer with Windows 7. The photo tray prints only in green. I tried to print from the photo tray from various programs with the same result, so the printer must be the problem. I downloaded and installed the 2009-10-20 software and driver version 13.1.0 which did not correct the problem. I also ran the HP printer problem detection tool and got no help there. Please help me. I use this feature often. By the way, I posted this same question a short time again and it has disappeared. Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • Unable to get imessage working, comes up green instead of blue

I'm uable to get imessage working, text comes up green instead of blue. I have my setting, message, imessage turned on. What am I doing wrong?

Mine didn't work for 2 months and this fixed it, so I posted it in another discussion and have been getting "thank you" replies nearly daily:
    Just update your date/time settings:
    Settings
    > General
    >> Date & Time
    >>> Set Automatically:  Slide "ON"...If it's already on, then slide it off, chill for a bit (maybe restart it), then slide it back on.
I am using an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1, but other users with 3GS, 4S, and even iTouch devices replied that it worked.

  • No line border and text in book is printed in black instead of dark blue

Just ordered my first photo book, and found that the text in the book is printed in black instead of the dark blue I thought I had used. I was advised by Apple to remove the 'plist' (had no idea what that was but found some info on Google) by dragging it onto my desktop, then log out and log in again and open the book again and once more choose the right color for the text, and then check the book as PDF in Preview before ordering it again.
I've done that and the text is now the color I want it to be, so I could go ahead and order it again now, I guess. Meanwhile that plist is still on my desktop - what should I do about that?
Besides, before ordering the book again I'd like to solve another problem with it, for which Apple didn't give me a solution, and that is that only part of the line borders in my Line Border Theme photo book are visible. There are no lines around a single photo per page (so the photo is not 'framed' so to speak), and on pages with several photo's there are only lines between photo's but not on the outside.
    Any ideas anybody?
Ps. I should add that Apple was very decent about returning my money right away (besides the two things I just mentioned, the book was also slightly damaged), but didn't answer all my questions.
I really would like to get the book right and printed though.

the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist contains your iPhoto preferences and when you launch iPhoto and there is none a fresh new reference file is created so you can throw the old one away
To preview your book before ordering I recommend Apple's Knowledge base article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040

  • Printing summary on different sized paper (something for a Table?)?

    i seem to be stuck.
i have a very long spreadsheet 12" x 18" 6 page spreadsheet and i have been able to TOTAL everything in a concise format at the bottom. i would now like to print this summary out onto 8 1/2" x 11" paper so that someone can use it.
i have tried a number of different things including hiding the cells at the top (this results in the spreadsheet hanging and numbers crashing when i try and unhide these cells) and i have also tried Duplicating the spreadsheet onto a different Sheet and then /deleting/ the cells above (this results in null entries for all the totals since the data it was referencing has disappeared).
/ideally/ i would like to be able to repeat this so the idea of changing the paper size and then monkeying around (somehow) to hide the other data is not idea and i am starting to think that i should be using a Table for this. i am reading up on this in the help documentation but does anyone know if this is appropriate or if there is an easy way to do this?
again, i would ideally like to retain all links to everything as i will inevitably have to update this spreadhseet and change it so i want to keep linked data (not to do a static copy or to just Save As some other name and then reformat the new document (unless there is a way to keep the two documents linked...).
can anyone help me out with this?
    THANKS

i suppose the other way would be to change the paper size to 8 1/2 x 11 and to format the spreadsheet so this data shows up on an individual page and to then print just this page to pdf?
Yes, I believe that is possible. You would choose Print This Sheet in Print Preview.
can i ask you this? can i format a SHEET so that i have a spreadsheet that has one sheet formatted for 12 x 18 and one for 11 x 17 and one for 8 1/2 x 11?
If you're printing (as opposed to exporting) you can choose the format you want before printing a sheet. Again choose Print This Sheet instead of Print All Sheets.
also, do you happen to know if DUPLICATING a sheet to another sheet will result in the duplicate being updated when the original was updated...?
No the duplicate won't update when you change the orginal. In the duplicate you could put formulas with references to the original so that the values in the duplicate update.

  • My 3210 will not print in pink/magenta. photos and other pictures print in green tones.

my 3210 will not print in pink/magenta.  photos and other pictures print in green tones.  i've seen posts clear back from 2011 with no replies or solutions.  if this is hp's definition of product support, i will be sure to choose a different manufacturer when purchasing my next printer ... which will be SOON.

    Hello @justjen ,

  • Word Stopped Printing the correct current page, prints page #1 instead

Word 2013 will no longer print the correct current page when asked to do so--it prints page 1 instead.  There is no problem with the document(s) involved as they will print the correct current page with another user.  If you highlight a selection,
it will print that correctly, except without the headers and footers.  If you specify the section and page numbers, that also works (and the headers and footers come out OK). The print drivers are not the issue as the printer drivers
in question are on the print server and work as expected for other users.
Creating a new profile for the user does fix the problem, but only temporarily, in a week to 2 weeks the problem comes back.  I am looking for a simpler solution than creating a new profile every week or 2 for the user.
I have tried the following steps without any success.
Deleted all the normal.dotm files from the computer and have
Deleted the Word Data key in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER|SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word.

    Hi,
I first suggest you check the printer setting, since the problem may by caused by the incorrect printer mode. We can also try updating the printer driver to the latest to check the result.
Is the source file is openning in the Compatibility Mode? Whatever it is, please copy all of content from your current document to a new creating docx to check the result.
If the issue still persists, please try to repair Office from Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features -> Office 2013 -> Change -> Repair.
Feel free to let me know if you have any other concern.

  • OfficeJet 6500a cannot print on green paper

We purchased an HP OfficeJet 6500a Plus this morning. Installation went smoothly and the printer has been working well.
However, a couple of hours ago we ran into a problem printing on green paper. The printer picks up the paper, but says it is the wrong size or type (mismatch size or type error message).
We print our work orders, invoices, etc. on different colors of paper and distribute them around the office. So far, we have successfully printed white, yellow, pink, and a lime green. We cannot get the printer to accept a pastel green paper, but we really need to be able to print on it.
I've looked at several pieces of paper, but I cannot find a problem with it. The paper is the right size (letter) and identical in every way I can tell except for the color. Every other printer in the office is an HP printer and we've never had an issue like this before.
I have tried looking at settings and changing the paper type, but I haven't had any luck (paper type is set to plain paper).
The printer is connected directly to a WIndows XP (SP3) PC via USB cable.
    Thank you for your help.
Edit 10-02-2011: Changed question title slightly and adjusted green-color description.

After a lot of searching, I found someone else with the same problem:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-printing-questions/Green-Paper-Problem-on-HP-Officejet-6500A/td-p...
He never received a real solution; he says he "got around the problem by sellotaping a torch to the paper tray." I honestly have no idea what that means, but adding something to rig it is not an acceptable solution. This is a printer that is used by one salesperson who is not computer-saavy.
I have tried printing as various media types (transparent, glossy, matte, iron-on, other specialty paper...and others) with no luck.
The media sensor has so far been more frustrating than useful.

  • My canon printer only prints in green.

My canon pixma mx922 only prints in green, yellow, and sometimes cyan. My theory is that the problem is caused by the ink not being made by canon (it is cheap ink), because te printer did this as soon as all but one ink type, black was not made by canon, the print doesn't print anything but green, yellow, and cyan, and confuses red for yellow. Does anyone know what to do?

I guess I would recommend replacing all inks with genuine Canon and run one or more deep cleaning until the test prints look right.
