Printing in negative

I have a Photosmart 2575 which is not connected to a PC so when I print photos I put the camera CF card into the printer. It prints my photos correctly until I ask for passport photos then it prints them like a negative. When I print the same photo as a larger size it prints normally so it is only the passport size which is the problem. My PC has Vista so I have not even tried to connect to the PC to find help.  Can anyone explain to me how I can fix this please?

I'm also getting the negative photo printing on my HP Deskjet 6980. Everything prints fine using Pages 1.0 and OS X 10.4 Tiger. Then I bought a new iMac with Pages 3.0 and OS X 10.5 Leopard. Now if I print the same Pages document, it prints all the photos negative. Same problem when printing a PDF of this document when using Preview.
Thanks for the Adobe Reader tip. It prints fine using this workaround.
I hope Apple and HP issues a real fix for this soon. Please send your feedback to Apple to "help" them along:

  • PDF printing in negative colours

This problem is similar to the below issue:-
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2213410?start=0&tstart=0
The fixes discussed in that thread do not work.
I have a user who is trying to print a PDF opened in Preview on a Mac Snow Leopard OS onto a Brother HL-5380DN printer. However some of the images contained in the PDF printout as negatives (ie black text on a white background prints as white text on a black background). when I try printing the same PDF document I get no problems. This only affects some images on the PDF. eg there are two graphs side-by-side in the PDF, see below image, the left hand image (which contains colour) prints out as a negative and the right hand image prints out ok.
Comparing the below page of the PDF on-screen on our 2 machines: on the user's Mac if I click on the left hand image then I select (or highlight) the image; on my Mac if I click the same image then nothing happens. Analysing further all images from this PDF that printed negative contained colour and could be selected on my user's Mac.
I don't know what is causing this issue. I think it's to do with the way Preview is setup but I can't see any differences. The user has different programs (like Adobe) installed, could these be causing some interference??
    Any help is greatfully received.
    Joe.

Yes I can print colours correctly using other channels for example printing the document directly from indesign is fine and I have tried printing some of illustrator files that i have used within the page and they print fine after being converted to a PDF.
I did use file-export pdf to save the file what other way is there, I looked under save as and it only allowed me to save the file as an indesign document, maybe I am missing something?

  • Photos on PDF file print in NEGATIVE

Twice in the past 2 weeks, creating PDF files from 2 different (Quark) documents, ALL THE (TIF) PHOTOS WERE PRINTING IN REVERSE (NEGATIVE)... On MY printer they were printing OK, but when sent to a 3rd party -- they keep printing reversed... Only the photos, not the whole page...
I use a script creating a PS file that converts to PDF via Distiller 7.0.
One incident was a full page ad, using Distiller's PDFX1a2001(1) (or maybe it was PDF/X-1a:2001, don't remember, is there a difference?)... The ad was published in the newspaper with all the photos in negative..... The pre-press guy at the newspaper couldn't figure it out...
The other was a newsletter, converted via Distiller's "Smallest File Size" --- the client called me this morning telling me all the photos show up reversed....
...This strange behavior is intermittent, it happened 2 weeks ago, and then today again, but none in-between and it never happened before.
I Google this issue, and noticed this has been mentioned in some forums in the past (even 2003), but no answers showing...
...Any idea would be greatly appreciated....

  • Photos printing in negative in Pages, etc.

Not sure if this is something others have addressed and I apologize it is somewhere in the archives but no time to read old posts...
I recently imported photos from my PC (saved via HP editing software that came with HP printer). They all showed up nicely in iPhoto with no problems. Now when I drag them to use in iWork (i.e. Pages), they look like they should in preview, but when I print them, they all print like the color negatives. I tried dragging photos that were NOT imported from the PC (rather directly from my camera hooked up to the iMac) and those photos printed just fine in Pages, etc. Any idea what is going on? Is there some sort of compatibility issue with the photos being originally from my PC and saved using the HP printer software? All of the photos are .jpg's still. HELP!
I found somewhere that I should try printing using the PDF version and that didn't work either. The only way I could get the photos to print right was using them in Word:mac and quite frankly, it's not as user friendly as Pages! But if that is my only option, I can live with it!
I have an HP Photosmart 7850 and have searched in vain for any info on it specifically.
    Any info is MUCH appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Printing Photo Negative

Can I print an old  B&W photo to a positive on my HP Officejet 6600, Product Number CZ155A?

Hi again. Thank you for the operating system of your computer. I have taken a look at the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One and 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer Series (H711) Product Specifica... and I have found that the scanning of Negatives or printing is not listed. You might be able to use a third party software to perform the task but it is not supported in the product specs. Sorry for the inconvenience.
    Thanks again.

  • "Positive" print from negative

Is it possible to print a "positive" picture from a negative using iPhoto '08?

No, not in iPhoto. However, there are 3rd party editing applications that can invert a negative image, both color and b/w to create the image as it should. Photoshop Elements for Mac is one. It's just been updated for Leopard and will be out shortly. It's a very powerful editor capable of some advanced editing. There may be others, like GraphicConver, but I'm not familiar with their capabilities.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to Print in negative colors

I am using Adobe Acrobat X and Reader X, both on Win7.
I want to take a printout of a Design that I've exported from Software-Cam350.
I can view the inversed colors by doing the following:
    Edit>Preferences>Accessibility>Change background color...
But i want to take a print out of the same - negative colors ; that is - White design on black background, instead of Black on White.
Also, I want a print out of only the section where the design is present and not of the whole page, as it will only waste my printer's toner because i only require the design part with some extra black on the outside(NOT the whole page).
I also require the Design in the same ratio in which it was exported - 1:1. Thus, I don't even have an option of taking a Screenshot.
Please suggest me as soon as possible as to how can I go about it?
    Thanks

When the Print Dialog comes up, look for a ColorSync Option, hard to say where exactly because different printers have the option in different places, or a grayscale option of their own...

  • Illustrator document with positive photoshop (.tif, .psd) file prints negative. How do I fix this?

I placed a positive grayscale photoshop file (.tif, .psd format) in an illustrator document that I painted in a spot color, when I print it, it outputs as inverse, negative. How do I fix this problem. It looks fine on the screen, but when I print it prints in negative. Is there some setting in photoshop or illustrator to fix this. Please advise
    Joe

okay I figured out how I can get it to print correctly. I discovered the problem is when I paint the photoshop file in a spot color (pantone, gcmi), the file prints in negative or inverse of the image, but if i paint it in cmyk equivalent of the spot color i want then it prints fine.
    Thanks all for your help

  • Print Negative

I have a pdf file of a logo. I need to print a negative. Under Print Menu the mode is composite, and image is positive. It will not allow me to change these settings. I tried to invert colors but it will not allow me to either. It allows me to print a negative when I open the file in photoshop, but how can I do this in Illustrator. Please advise. Thanks

I believe that’s something that your printer driver needs to support. PostScript printers will let you print a negative. Perhaps you can print to a PostScript file, then turn on the negative option, then distill that file in Acrobat Distiller and print that.

  • Laserwriter Pro 630 printing out as a negative WHY

I have had a LWP 630 for 4 years with out any major problems. It is networked for 2 PC computers and is the default printer of 2 printers. I have a Netgear print server. My OS is Win XP. The other day after printing several docs, it started printing in the negative. in other words black and white are reversed. All the printable area is black and any characters are white. This is from either PC over the network. This is from either PC from the LPT1 port to the centronics port, on the printer. (without the print server) It prints whatever it's sent. What can be done to switch it back???

I also have this issue. I just had a Pro 630 go belly up with a Green solid and Toner Solid and Paper Out solid. Diagnostics would NOT run. Printer just stopped responding and printing. It would however print a perfect test page with button push near exit tray.
Got a used printer from Craigslist and swapped out the I/O board. Now, it only prints in Negative and in really big type. If I only have 8MB ram, it prints a blank page. I am guessing it is printing just fine, but white text.
If I add 16 or 32 MB from the other I/O board, the background is gray or dark gray respectively and the type is really big.
Cannot find anything that will reset this thing.
Also, any leads on where I can get a copy of the latest LaserWriter Utility so I can run it on a Mac OS 8.6 machine?
    Mike

  • Print negatives on photosmart 7520

I'm a recent owner of a Photosmart 7520 printer and I understand that you can print from negatives and slides.  Is there anyone out there who can give me some pointers on where to begin?  Do the negatives and slides have to be scanned?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Are you talking about SCAN (not print). No, it does not support scan from negatives and slides.
    Regards.

  • How can I prevent printing of this FROM location label even if suppressed?

I am using Crystal Reports 10.
The examples follow the problem description.
The idea is print a label when moving one part from one location to another.
The Control ID# is the main parameter which I must receive in order to get the values from the 3rd party software to print the label information.
The Control Rec# is from the Record Number within Crystal Reports.
The Trans Rec ID# is the data I am retrieving from the transaction table.  This Trans Rec ID# s the link between the Control ID# table, which also contains the Trans Rec ID# for this table.
The 3rd party software always passes one control record#, which will always have two records - one negative quantity and one positive quantity.  The records are always in order by negative then positive quantity.  Also, the Trans Rec ID# is in ascending sequence.  The negative record will display "FROM" in the location portion of the label.
NOTE:  Each time the label is to be printed, there are two more records created in the transaction table.
Here is a list of what I have tried, by itself and/or in conjunction with the others:
    - in the Record Selection, I have tried selecting just the positive quantity, which will give me a leading blank page
    - suppressed the Report Header
    - conditionally suppressed report header - always prints blank page at beginning (see Example #2)
    - conditionally suppressed detail (this works fine - see Example #2)
    - sorting records in descending order by quantity
    - sorting records in descending order by Trans Rec ID#
    - grouping by Trans Rec ID#
    - grouping by quantity
Whenever I try to suppress the printing of the negative quantity label, which I do not want to print, it always prints as a blank page.  Is there a way to keep it from doing this?  Is there something I can do that I am missing?
    Example #1  : Suppressing report/page headers
    Part#  ABC      Control ID# 166551   Control Rec# 1   Trans Rec ID# 143497   ...
    Quantity = -1   Location = DC0-19   (This is the FROM Label)                                                                                .
    Part#  ABC      Control ID# 166551   Control Rec# 1   Trans Rec ID# 143498   ...
Quantity = 1     Location = DOCK     (This is the TO Label - no indicator of From/To prints)
    =================================================================
Example #2  : In Record Select, selecting only positive quantity and suppressing headers
(Blank page prints here - negative record is the first record)
    Part#  ABC      Control ID# 166551   Control Rec# 1   Trans Rec ID# 143505   ...
Quantity = 1     Location = DOCK     (This is the TO Label - no indicator of From/To prints)

  • How to display NEGATIVE sign on the left side of a number in SMARTFORMS

    Hi,
In smartforms I'm trying to print some negative values, but the negative sign is displayed on the right hand side of the number.
How can I display the '-' sign on the left hand side of a number. I tried the logic &value(<), it works well in sap scripts. Why is it not working in smartforms ?
    Eg :   I'm getting  the output  as  126.75 -
             I want :  - 126.75

  • Multibyte characters are not printing correctly.

    Hi all,
When i read a multibyte character from inputstream i am getting a negative value. The code is something like this.
    int c=in.read();
    System.ouy.ptinyln((char)c);
It is printing ? instead of , i know the reason why it is printing the ? mark because when i read a mutibyte character from the InputStream it is returning the negative value so when i try to type cast and try to print the negative value it is printing ?. My question is why it is returning negative value when i read the multibyte character.
    Please help me.
    Thanks

What kind encoding type u using?
mulitbyte character is composed by two bytes.
and the first bit of each bye is 1.
as a result, u get negative value when u cast the multibye character to int.

  • Photos in InDesign PDFs appear as negative images

I work in CS3 (I'm on OS 10.4.11) and am having a problem when I export a layout with photos in it to a PDF file. The PDF looks fine on my computer and prints fine to my printer, but when I send it to others, the photos will sometimes (arrgh--not always!) appear on screen and print as negative images. The placed photos are usually TIF or JPG, but are sometimes Photoshop files.
Often I am sending these documents to users who will simply print them out on their own laser printers, so typically I export as "a high-quality print." However, I have had the same problem when I've exported as "press quality." The problem remains the same whether the user is printing to a PS printer or not.
Originally I thought it might be an issue with the Acrobat version on the recipient's end. However, I recently received a PDF from co-worker who has the exact same computer model, OS, and software versions as I do. When I opened her PDF, low and behold, I saw all the photos as negatives. (It did print fine, however.)
    Any idea what's going on?

To export, I select File > Export > Adobe PDF.
Adobe PDF preset: High quality print (usually) or press quality (occasionally)
    Standard: none
    Compatibility: Acrobat 5.0 (PDF 1.4)
Options: Optimize for fast Web view
    Create tagged PDF
    Export visible & printable layers.
Most of my recipients have Adobe Acrobat Pro 7.0 for the PC; however, I had the same trouble opening an InDesign-created PDF from another Mac user with the same versions of everything as me, i.e. CS3, InDesign 5.0.2, and Acrobat Pro 8.1.2.
