Printing in photoshop CS5 problem

IN photoshop CS5 when you select to print 8 copies of an image only one comes out of the printer...
worked fine with cs3 cs4
any input?

The problem is within CS5! Thats it. Windows 7, XP & Vista are all fine and dont need to be reinstalled. All printers work fine too. Everyone is going crazy trying to figure out this mess and spining there wheels over this.
This is the ONLY way to get multiple prints out of your CS5.
File>Print
Choose your printer (in this case I'm using an Epson 7800)
Print Settings>Page Layout>Copies> (choose qty) OK (you will notice that the copies box will now show the amount you just put in from the previous page.
Print>
That should work just fine. I have been doing this all week and have not had one issue.
PS shame on Adobe for not fixing that simple problem.

  • Problem printing from Photoshop CS5.1 to Canon Pixma MX870

I downloaded most recent printer driver from Canon for my MX870 and with help from canon support I deleted previous printers in my computer and added in the new one.  Also repaired permissions.
Other adobe software will print (InDesign, Acrobat) but not photoshop. When I select print,  I am getting the following message:  "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents"   After attempting once I can't even get to the print dialogue box as the print selection is grayed out.
I am not sure what to do to get past this.
I have a new imac running OSX 10.9.2.

I was testing other Imacs running the same photoshop CS5.1 with the new printer drivers from canon and it prints.  They are running OSX10.6.8.  My new computer is running 10.9.2 and it will not print from photoshop. Is the driver not compatible with the operating system? Is there something to try other than saying the driver is at fault.  Do I complain to Canon to update their driver to work? What is a work around?
    Thanks,

  • Suddenly Getting Green prints in Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 2.6

    Photoshop CS5 12.0.1 x32, and Lightroom 2.6
    Windows XP SP 3
Printer: Epson R1900, Software 6.61 (current)
    HP LJ2475W Monitor
I have been running and printing from Photoshop since 5.0. I have had CS5 several months, and probably printed 20 or so pictures (matte, gloss, lustre, from 5x7 to A3). Last weekend, I just wanted to print a quick 5x7 of my wife at my daughter's wedding. The print looks fine in Photoshop, and in the Photoshop print preview, but when it gets to the Epson print preview, the colors are distorted and very green. This is the way it prints also.  I get the same results from multiple pictures includeing those I have printed with no issue before, and in Lightroom 2.6. The only thing I can print successfully is a PDF I constructed a few years back in Photoshop with a bar of each color and a black-to-white gradient (I use this to "exercise" the inks when I don't have something to print during a week).
I worked with the technician from Epson last night, and it is not a problem with the printer. Using the WIndows Picture and Fax viewer, I was able to print the same picture (and several others) with no issues what so ever, and with all the correct colors. When printing, I used the same ICC file I was using in Photoshop.
I have rebooted multiple times, I have downloaded the latest printer driver from Epson, along with the lastest ICC files that they supply, all with no results. Again, it prints fine outside of Photoshop CS5 (Lightroom 2.6 has the same issue), but has corrupted colors within Photoshop.. I have no clue what to adjust or change to get it to print correctly again.
I have downloaded and installed the lateset Adobe patches when prompted to do so, as I do with the Micrsoft patches. Other than that, I haven't had any recent downloads. It was working correctly 2 weeks ago, the last time I printed (this is used almost exclusively for Photoshop and Proshow Producer).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I don't want to have to be limited to other programs to print my photos.

I think I'm seeing a trend of double (or multiple) color transformations here...
SOMETHING, somewhere, is causing the inability to turn off ALL color management outside of Photoshop, so that one cannot use the "Photoshop Manages Colors" setting without getting multiple transformations.
Has Windows itself perhaps added a color management stage somewhere in the mix?
Has something changed that causes the Color Management: Off setting in the printer drivers to be ineffective, or more complex than just "on" or "off"?
What do we know so far?
With CS5, many people using Epson printers cannot get reasonable print colors unless they use the Printer Manages Colors setting in Photoshop.  I don't know what they're choosing in the printer drivers because I don't have an Epson.
I personally have seen evidence of double profiling (magenta looking print) with my HP printer when Photoshop is set to Printer Manages Colors.  This is kind of the opposite problem from what people are reporting about Epsons.
The ICM Method setting in my HP drivers has an entry entitled ICM Handled by Host System, which is SEPARATE from ICM Disabled.
Given the above, a person could be forgiven for thinking there are more combinatorial choices than just these two:
Photoshop Manages Colors and "ICM disabled in the printer / drivers"
Printer Manages Colors and "ICM handled by the printer / drivers"
What does the Epson printer driver color management selection look like?

  • Photoshop CS5 problem - Is this Banding?

    Hi
I am using Adobe lightroom 3.0.64 to process RAW photos from my Canon Camera. Then I touch up the pictures in Photoshop CS5. I have been working on some snooted background shots recently and I am experiencing a problem when I edit the photos in photoshop. It appears to be some of kind artifacting or distortion particularly noticeable if using graduated lighting. Looking on the web I have come across references to "banding". I am not sure if this is the problem I am experiencing, but I would appreciate it if someone could take a look.
Either way any help on how to get rid of this issue "post" picture taken would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried duplicating a layer/Blurring it and then using masks to bring out the main focus of the picture. This doesnt seem to work very well and just makes the banding look more noticeable.
I have uploaded a hi-res version of the file:
    http://www.lakelanddigitalmedia.com/stock/bandingproblem.jpg
    and circled the problem areas.
Any help would be most appreciated.

I can see the same posterization effect when I click on that one too. Does that mean the problem is to do with the screen display profile after all, and I should change the profile to Srgb as suggested.
There's no easy answer, but in general unless your monitor is actually displaying the sRGB color space accurately I'd say it's not generally a good idea to throw out a display profile that brings your particular monitor into proper calibration.
If you want your document products - i.e., that which you publish or print - to hide the posterization, then I suggest making sure Dithering is enabled in your color preferences.  That way when the conversion of the document profile to sRGB occurs, the gradients will look smooth.
Today's monitors are good enough that you can easily see 256 different shades of gray.  The posterization you're seeing may well be because of that - OR - you may be experiencing the problem I reported in this thread:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/3473424
Try going into Edit - Preferences - Performance, [Advanced] and changing your OpenGL mode in Photoshop to Basic, then restarting Photoshop.  Does that help make your rose image look better on your monitor?

  • (Mac) Postscript printing issue - Photoshop CS5.1

We're having an issue printing certain files to any of our office printers via Photoshop.  Most of our office computers are Macs running OS X 10.6.8 or 10.7.4, and all are running CS5.5 Design Std.
What we're noticing is that, on particular .tiff, .jpeg, and .psd files, when we issue a print command within Photoshop, the job sends to the printer successfully, but then each printer reports a Postscript error.  It reads "PS limitcheck error, offending command: 'yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy'", more or less.
Our initial thought was that there was something wrong with the particular file: a damaged font, too many path entries, etc.  But, our immediate workaround was to try printing the same file in Illustrator, which we were able to do successfully right off the bat.  We were also able to print the file via Preview and by exporting it to a PDF and printing via Acrobat.
We've reproduced the problem on all of our printers, and even on a few of the printers after installing different (older) driver versions on the test workstation.  This leads us to believe that the issue lies somewhere in Photoshop 5.1's coding.
I read in a previous post (from 2009) that including labels in the print (chosen from the print dialogue) can cause this type of error, but we are not using print labels here, so that can't be the issue in our case.
Any thoughts on this?  Or are we stuck with the mentioned workaround and/or giving Adobe more money for CS 6?  (and exactly how many updates did we get for CS5??)

Well I suppose I could post it there, but I wouldn't be hoping for any sort of response: there's not exactly much to read into.  We've found that it's typically better to try and find a workaround for CS errors (in this case, copy/paste the contents of the open file into a new ai file, re-save with new filename) than to try to guess at the cause from these kinds of error messages, which are nearly useless.
That said, this one is a nagging annoyance for our designers, and given that we get the same behavior across multiple systems/OSs/printers, and that the error only occurs when printing from photoshop cs 5.1 (not when printing from illustrator, or Preview), the root cause MUST have something to do with photoshop.  Perhaps there is just something about the particular files and their interaction with photoshop, but whatever the real reason, photoshop is playing a part.
And so, here we are.  Perhaps there are other troubleshooting measures I've missed?  Maybe there's some limitation with printing in Photoshop I'm not aware of?  Maybe there's a setting somewhere in the print dialogue that we should enable/disable for further troubleshooting?  I'm basically looking for other shot-in-the-dark types of things to try at this point; I harbor no illusions that there's anyone out there who knows what's happening or has seen this before.
With that in mind, fire away!  I'm willing to try nearly anything.

  • 10.6 & Photoshop CS5 Problem

Am having an issue with Photoshop CS5. Getting a vague "there was a program error" message when trying to click anywhere with the text tool. The problem goes away in 'safe boot' mode... so I don't think it is CS5 prefs (which I have already tried trashing, to no avail). Switching to another user also fixes the problem, but I'd love to find the culprit, as I've had the issue on two machines now. Must be something in the background, but didn't see anything suspicious in Activity Monitor or Console. Any ideas how I can trace it down? Thanks!

FWIW, I just fixed this problem (I think) with the following:
    Quit PS
Moved Stone Sans OS ITC TT out of the /Library/Fonts/ folder
Moved Stone Sans OS ITC TT out of the ~/Library/Fonts/ folder
    Deleted ~/Library/Caches/Adobe folder
    Restarted PS

  • Printing from Photoshop CS5

Silly question.  When I tell Photoshop to print, it opens a preview of the photo in MAC OS Preview, with a print button on the bottom right.  If I print from here, am I printing my Photoshop image or has the MAC reformatted it as a PDF?

Let's see if we can get our terminology straight here, Philip.
Obviously, you're fairly new to the Mac world.  It's "Mac" for Macintosh, not "MAC" which is an acronym that can stand for various things, none of which have anything to do with Mac or Macintosh.
Are you sure what you call a Mac Preview window is not really just the Photoshop print dialog box?  In previous versions of Photoshop it used to be called the "Print with Preview" dialog box.  In Photoshop 11.0.d ("CS4") it looks like this:
You need to click on the Print button in the lower right-hand corner to get your printer driver print dialog box.
On the other hand, if you are not within Photoshop and are double-clicking on the image icon in the Finder, then it is indeed possible for you to inadvertently launch Apple's Preview application if you have not set Photoshop to be the default application to open Photoshop images.
If the latter is the case, you need to highlight the icon of the image file in the Finder, do a "Get info" (Command+i) in the Finder and set it to open with Photoshop in the ensuing File Info dialog box.  Then click on "Change All", and all your image files of the same file type will now open correctly in Photoshop.

  • Photoshop cs5; problem snapping to guides

Hi, am working on a new version of Photoshop CS5. My curser no longer highlights ( or changes color ) over guides and my selections wont snap to the guides. Have enabled 'snap', as well as 'snap to guides' but nothing changes. I've also alternated between the two just in case they didn't work at the same time. Any idea's, i cant work accurately right now..thanks

ForceQuit and Quit are options, but not a solution. I'm more interested in why it happens and when it happens, how to back out of it.
I asked if you are offered »Quit« or »Force Quit«. I have never seen them both offered in that pop-up.
In latter case you have no further options, I’m afraid.
In the first case you could try quitting all other applications … no guarantees that would help, though.
    As to why it happens:
How diligent are you with System maintenance, font validation etc. and are third party plug-ins installed?
