Printing issue in Yosemite-Cups sandbox

we will install our driver in /etc/cups/backend
From backend we will launch applescript  to launch our .app
But this is not working in MAC Yosemite
After studying the forum, the above problem occurs due to sandboxing.
and we need to add entitilement by enabling sandbox
Based on the above
1) created driver code with appsandbox on and added temporary entitilement of apple events.
2) but now we are not able to launch driver itself.
"Sandbox renit " error occurs.
Kindly confirm
1) whether Driver cannot be sandbox.
2) how to launch application from /etc/cups/backend  since for adding temporary entitilement appsandox should be set as "ON"
Kindly suggest steps to launch application from the /etc/cups/backend

  • Safari printing issues in Yosemite

Anyone else experiencing weird issues with printing websites from Safari in Yosemite? The print pagers are rendering weird, including printing full urls for all hyperlinked text in parentheses next to the hyperlink. Frames are also printing in individual pages. Another example: I tried to print a New Yorker article and it said it would be 119 pages!! The article was about 5,000 words. That's not 119 pages.

  • Printer issue with Yosemite.

I have a Macbook and was running Maverick.  My HP Laserjet 3050 worked fine - never any issues.  This morning I upgraded to Yosemite and it is not printing hardly anything.  For instance, I will print one of my mac mails, but then I try to print another email from mac mail, and it sends the signal to the printer, printer blinks 2 or 3 times and doesn't print.
I also printed a PDF - it had 3 pages.  I printed page 1 and page 2.  Did not print page 3.
I just tried to print a webmail email and a receipt from online.  It will also not print those.
Any idea? I looked for updates on HP and didn't find any.
    Please help.

    Hi,
From the Apple menu select Software Update.
Click the Store menu and then click on Reload Page to ensure the latest updates are offered.
Install any listed HP update to ensure your printer drivers are up to date.
If that doesn't help or you are not able to retrive any update, uninstall the current drivers by following Step 1: Uninstall any existing software for your printer > I used Apple Software Update below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04468431&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=e...
Next remove the printer by selecting the printer and clicking the minus sign under Printers & Scanners, then re-add it by clicking the plus sign. the latest printer drivers will reinstall from Apple servers.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi

  • Print issue after Yosemite upgrade

    Mac Book Pro 15-inch
    2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
    Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
    16GB 1600MHz memory
    512GB PCIe-based flash storage 1
    Intel Iris Pro Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB GDDR5 memory
I am not able to Print after upgrade to Yosemite. I have Kodak ESP 5200 printer and can print test page fine from the Kodak home centre software but when I try from any other app e.g. safari word excel it submits the page to print queue and the printer feeds new page in but then just stops and the print queue shows error?
I have talked to Apple support and tried a number of things reset the print queue deleted the printer still no luck.
Since the support call I have also installed the printer software and then re installed latest version from Kodak website.

That is inconvenient but at the same time I wouldn't bash apple, it is the company of the printer that is responsible for updating drivers. If you can find a driver for another kodak printer that is newer I would try downloading it. Then when you select a diver select the one that is not actually for your printer. Make sense? This might work because the only reason you need a driver for your exact printer most of the time is to use certain features unique to that printer. Maybe that might work.

  • How does one print to enterprise Windows print services in Yosemite? CUPS 2.0 problem?

One of my co-workers upgraded to Yosemite yesterday and it broke his ability to print to our corporate printing services (which are built around a Windows print server). Obviously, the printer discovery in the System Preferences can't find the Windows print server - that's never worked. However, we had previously been able to add a printer through the CUPS web front-end by adding a Windows printer and specifying an SMB URL in the format:
    smb://DOMAIN;USER:[email protected]/QUEUE-NAME
... which worked like a charm in Mavericks. However, Yosemite has upgraded to CUPS 2.0.0 and this no longer seems to work. Print jobs enter the CUPS queue, but authentication fails and they are not accepted by the remote server.
I've consulted the CUPS 2.0.0 documentation, and there's not really anything helpful there. In fact, there's no mention of SMB / Windows printing at all in the 2.0.0 documentation. Unfortunately our campus print services does not support IPP, LP, LPR, or JetDirect as options -- just Windows printing.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?

Just finished testing 10.10 printing via a Windows 2008 R2 print share. I also found that when trying to add the printer using CUPS I would get an authentication error. But if I added the printer using the Windows section of the Add printer pane, then I was able to print fine.
So with you mentioning that using the Windows section of the Add printer window has never worked (which is interesting because it's always worked for me) I want to suggest another approach to adding the printer, still using the Add printer window. With this window open you can right-click on the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar. You can then drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar. Then when you select this, you can set the Type menu to "Windows via spoolss" and then enter the URL as smb://servername/sharename. Select the supporting driver and click Add to complete.
Then when you select to print for the first time using this printer you will be prompted to authenticate. Enter the account details, set the save to Keychain option and OK to send the print job.
This worked fine for me and creates the same queue as using the Windows add printer setting. Curious to hear if this gets your co-worker printing again.

  • IPhoto 9.6.1 with Yosemite Printing Issues

iPhoto 9.6.1 with Yosemite was supposed to fix a printing bug that would hang-up a Mac but it actually caused my to start having printing issues (beachball of death).  I have tried permission repair and rebuilding the database but that did not work.  I did the 9.6.1 update on 20 March 2015.  That is when all my printing issues started.  I have to resort to putting my pictures on the desktop and printing from the preview app.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Try fix the main library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Network printing Printer Pauses /usr/libexec/cups/backend/lpd failed

    Morning,
I wonder if anyone has encountered the following problem?
    NETWORK SET UP
We have a network of 8 macs & a Fuji Xerox c2255 printer all connected to a gigabit switch.
The Fuji Xerox has an fixed ip address 192.168.1.122 All devices have fixed ip address.
    PROBLEM
Only one mac (Mac Pro) can print direct to the Fuji Xerox Printer. This Mac Pro is on 10.5.8. and it is sharing its printer connection with the rest of the studio. Oddily enough, the Appletalk function is turned on. When the appletalk function is turned off on the ethernet port, it can not longer directly print nor share the Fuji Xerox with the rest of the network
The remainder of the Macs are all on 10.6.4 or 10.6.3. When the printer is first installed on the an iMac client, it can print from text files, offices docs, from safari or firefox with out any problem. But when it attempts to print a pdf file (preview) or Indesign files then it pauses the printer. Within the printer queue, if attempt to restart the printer, the printer pauses. It remains in this state indefinitely. When looking at the CUPS logs via the console, the error is printer-state-message="/usr/libexec/cups/backend/lpd failed". This is the message displayed on all the clients that attempt to print directly (via LPD) to the Fuji Xerox. Once this error message is logged, the iMac can no longer print out text files nor word documents.
The following console log is typically of what all the 10.6.x clients are reporting,

    APPROACHED USED TO DATE
    1. I have reset the Printer subsystem for all clients
    2. I have reinstalled the latest PS drivers for this model of Fuji Xerox c2255. I have been on the phone with Fuji Xerox Technical support, FX DocuPrint C2255 v3017.104PS , and confirmed that this is the latest (and only) availible drivers for 10.5-10.6
    3. I have had the Studio manger arrange to have the Fuji Xerox printer fully serviced and had the firmware updated to latest version.
    4. Via Fuji Xerox Technical support, they advise I use the following settings for LDP printing for FX c2255,
    Latest driver for 10.6 : 3017.104.ps
    Setting to check :
    Queue name : PS
    Enable EtherTalk
LPD port : from auto to PS
    Software version :
    Controller plus PS role 1.100.21
    5. I have (manually) deleted the all the FujiXerox drivers from /Library/Printers/ then repair permissions, then reinstalled the latest version of the Fuji Xerox driver from 10.6
    WEIRDNESS
    1. With the 10.6.x client, when the drivers are first installed, if I create a simply indesign file, I can print directly to the Fuji Xerox. If I then attempt to print out a previously created indesign document, it will pause the printer and the console (CUPS error_log) will display the above result. If I switch my printer to the Mac Pro 10.5.8 sharing the printer, the same document can print out via the hosted Fuji Xerox.
    2. The Mac Pro 10.5.8 can print all documents directly to the Fuji Xerox regardless of the format of the document. It is also able to share the printer with the dept. This is the sole means of the dept being able to print out artwork.
    3. Prior to the firmware upgrade I have tried an iMac printing/hosting the Fuji Xerox via direct USB cable. The same behaviour as above were experienced.
    4. This model of Fuji Xerox only supports LDP or direct USB connection.
    5. I have tried using the Bonjour address to configure the printer but the results are no better nor no worse. At one stage, all the iMacs were able to print sucessfully for a day but then 'stopped working' (as reported by the studio manager). They then switch back to the Mac Pro hosting the printer to continue working.
    6. I discovered that if the drivers are installed and then a Permission repair carried out (via Disk Utility), it would change all the driver permissions for the files in the /Library/Printers/FujiXerox. When attempting to print (with the revised permissions), the 'print' button would not 'work'; the print dialog would present until Cancel was selected. It was almost like changing the permissions has lock out the functionality of being able to print. Manually moving the FujiXerox to Trash and reinstalling the drivers reverted the printer back to the above behaviour.
    7. I discovered that when installing the printer, using LPD, it is better to allow the default settings. If I stuplated that the Fuji Xerox is a two bin set up, rather then a single bin set up, I can not print out from any application. If, I left settings as default, my assumption is that the apps can mange the printer features.
I've been working on this for a while now and this is driving me crazy. I would appreciate any suggestions. Has anyone come across this issue before ? Any ideas ?
    Thank you,
    Fred

    Hi Pahu,
Thanks for your reply. I noticed that you have replied to a number of other postings as well - you're a good sort !! Your knowledge and contribution to this forum is much appreciated and very welcome.
Yes, this is a curly problem. I've actually been trying to resolve it for several months. Interesting the c2255 is not stated as being supported under Apple's Fuji drivers release for SN. The driver has to be downloaded directly from Fuji Xerox. The following is from the c2255 Config page,

What is interesting is that this problem occurs with all the 10.6.x macs. There is a Mac Pro that has been upgrade to 10.6; an iMac that has had a complete rebuild with 10.6; two iMacs that have been upgraded from 10.5.x and two new iMacs that came preinstalled with 10.6.2. None of these Macs can direct connect to the Fuji Xerox c2255. Only the 10.5.8 Mac can direct connect to the FX c2255 and can host (or share) the FX c2255 printer to the rest of the network.
One of the bizarra aspects is that the all the Macs can print text files, offices docs, web pages, etc, etc directly to the Fuji Xerox c2255 without any problem. BUT try to print a pdf file from preview or from Indesign and it resorts back to the status described earlier. Oddily enough, if I create a simple pdf in Indesign (circle, squares, a paragraph of text), I can print out the file using Indesign, directly to the printer. If I import one of the previously created documents, the printer reverts to the status described earlier. HOWEVER, if I take the same document and print via the Mac Pro 10.5.8 hosting/sharing the printer, the document will print without any problem. What the... ??!?!?!
I thought it might be a firmware problem but following the onsite service of the printer, I think I can rule that out.
Can you see anything that I might be missing ???
    Thank you,
    Fred

  • How do I make my workhorse Samsung ML-1740 printer work with Yosemite 10.10.3?

How do I make my workhorse Samsung ML-1740 printer work with Yosemite 10.10.3?

Are any other Samsung printers affected? Or is this a specific ML-1915 problem?
(I still can print on a shared ML-1640 printer at home.)
I hope Apple is also reading these forums: As said before: This started with the OS X update!
Then in between there were Samsung printer updates issued by Apple via the softwareupdated function.
They also didn´t solve the problem.
I also tried removing the printer and adding/setting it up again. (as suggested in the Apple support pages).
Even installing the original driver that came on CD. That didn´t help either.
Logic still tells me that this is an Apple / OS X caused problem. Please fix it!!!
I have no intention to buy a new printer just because Apple might have messed up with their updates.
The printer was working perfectly fine and it just got a fresh toner.

  • Printing Issue - Custom Media Sizes, InDesign CC/Mac Mavericks

    Hi all,
I've got a strange problem that I hope someone can provide some insight to.  Perhaps this is a bug, but I'd rather ensure that there isn't something here that I haven't understood.
I have a project that I periodically modify and re-print on custom size media (3.25" x 7.36").  I've used the same Id document and workflows since, probably, Id 2 or 3, updating each time to the latest versions.  The problem may be in the way Id CC interacts with the MacOS X printing system.  The printer in question is a Xerox 8550.
The project is a one page table printed on this particular card stock.  What's happening is that the printable area on the stock isn't being fully used - the top and bottom of the media aren't being printed - thus the top and bottom of the content is being cut off, in a way that wasn't an issue previously.
The printer control panel prompts for and accepts the media size correctly (I believe these printers have checks to ensure media fed matches the printable area; the Phaser engine doesn't like printing "off the paper").
Again, the same document has been used for many years, so I've tried the following steps to isolate and remediate the problem:
Document Setup: Custom Page Size, verify correct for media.
Print dialog: "Page Setup..." format for (custom media size defined for OS X), also verified to be correct for media.
Print dialog: "Setup", paper size Width and Height, correct; orientation correct, offset and gap 0p0, scale 100%.
    Print dialog: PPD correct.
Recreated document, re-entering sizes and verifying setup.  No change.
Created a test document, with same settings, and a scale extending outside of the printable area.  The specs for (and my experience with) the printer are that the printable area is 5mm from the edge of the paper.  The result of the test is that the content is cut off at 10-11mm from the edge instead.
Exported PDF from Id.  Printed using Preview, same OS X page setup configuration.  Printer prompts for correct media size.  Content in test file prints as expected, to 5mm from media edge.
Printed test document from Acrobat XI, using "Actual Size", "Choose paper source by PDF page size", and "Use custom paper size when needed".  Printer prompts for correct media size, content prints as expected, again, to 5mm from media edge.
So, in brief, exported PDF prints properly (and this is a workaround), but it's a pain that Id has this issue.  All software involved is up to date.  I haven't tried to dig into the PPD, as PostScript isn't one of my areas of strength, but I'm reasonably sure it's correct.  I've also tried a similar test using Letter-size paper, and that also prints to 5mm.
I'd love to get some feedback on this.  Many thanks.

For what its worth, I've been trouble shooting this issue with Adobe / Xerox / Apple for some time now. Here are my findings so far:
--------------------------------------------------Adobe's final response after a very long help ticket--------------------------------------------------------
This Email is in regards to the case related to the adobe application and Printing issue ,
As checked we were able to see that application  is able to create the document with correct size , when checked within Adobe Pdf properties the size was showing as per document specification and when we tried to print the same , the document was showing the same values carried forwarder to the printer and in the preview it was showing the same specific setting of the document size in the printer previewer
It was during the printing process the same value are not being calculated correctly as per our interaction ,  you were able to use the same in the previous version of Mac  10.8. 5 , please check if there is any update available for the 10.9 version of mac and if it would work on the same ,we would request you to contact your printer help support for the same we are leaving the case open and would request you to call us back if there is any further issue  on  800 833 66 87

Here the Decline from 3rd Level Engineering.
    2nd Level Reference #: 19458297
    Customer Name: VDB REAL ESTATE
    Product Model: Phaser 7800
Problem Summary: Scale is incorrect when printing PDFs on custom size paper in OS X 10.9
    Decline Reason: App/3rd party Issue
Note: I tested using the included process steps:
    STEPS TO REPRODUCE-
    I tested using a PDF that was 6" x 8.5".
In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose File > Print, go to Page Setup and create a custom page size of 8" x 9.5".
In the Acrobat dialog, set the size to "Actual size".
Print this to the device, note that the image is about 7" x 10".
Interestingly, in the Acrobat dialog, if "Choose paper source by PDF page size" is selected, the previewed page size is not that of the document, but instead shows 10.13" x 7.17".  This size will change if different printers are selected.
Scaling is not an issue when printing to standard page sizes.
I was able to recreate the issue on a Mac running OS 10.9.1 using the Xerox 7800 print driver. I then tested on Mac OS 10.9.1 using a generic Postscript driver and also recreated the issue.  This indicated that this is not a Xerox driver issue.  I then tested on a Mac OS 10.8.5 using the same Xerox 7800 driver version and it worked as expected without scaling the image.
Mac OS 10.8.5 uses CUPS version 1.6.2 for printing where 10.9.1 uses CUPS version 1.7.  I believe this is a CUPS issue and you will need to work with Apple to resolve it.
You may appeal this decision by replying to this email and providing appeal details.

While using 10.92 with Xerox Phaser 7800DN (2.94.1 PPD - Installed via Software Update), PDF at a custom page size was sent to spool folder via Preview was correctly sized, however the document produced by Adobe Reader appears to be icorrect. When using Preview the PDF printed to a custom page size at 100% scale comes out the proper size.

  • Printing issues with Ps, Id, Ai

Cannot get the printer to function correctly! It prints fine in Word and Adobe Acrobat Professional...when I try to print from Id and Ai it shuts down before seeing a print dialog box. When I print from Ps it prints a weird code straight across the top of the page...which it wants to print many times until I have to restart the printer.

I think the latter part above is where the real issue starts, but if you need more let me know...it means nothing to me, I don't understand what is going wrong each time I try to print from these applications.

  • Printing Issues in CS6

When I try to print from CS6 on a MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.2, the Print function is grayed out and not live. I cannot print from CS6. Any thoughts on how to make the print function active?

Is your Photoshop updated to Photoshop CS6 13.0.6?
    Have you tried trashing prefs:
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
NEW Video! Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.
    Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If  you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.
Can you print from any other application?
Do you get an error message?  What does it say exactly?
Without more information, no one can help you.

  • Envelope printing issues

I was trying to print an envelope with my new HP printer using Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac. When I press on print, the entire envelope is printed in black ink, covering the entire face of the envelope.
I checked the settings for the size envelope (#10). I also uninstalled the printer software and downloaded and re-installed the printer software, but the problem still exist.
Is there an compatibility issue with Yosemite 10.10.3?
    What could be the problem?

Hello @Blackjack2359, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having envelope print issues.   I'd like to assist!
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Powerpoint 2004 Printing Issues

I am having issues when printing slides from powerpoint. When I look at the print preview the slide looks fine but when print the slide the content is indented three inches to the right. What setting do I need to change to fix this?

    Hi all
I have solved the problem of printing with word/excel (I didn't checked powerpoint) updating the cups (Common unix printing system) system of Leopard.
In the Leopard DVD installation it's present the version CUPS-GIMP 4.2.7
Now is available the version 5.1.3
Visit the http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/ or the direct link
    http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-print/gutenprint-5.1.3.U.dmg?modtime=11822 55093&big_mirror=1
This is the Local cups home page of Leopard :http://localhost:631/ that permit to change the prefs of your printer or manage the print queue
Visit the cups (www.cups.org) homepage for more information
Is not necessary de-install the previuos versions
Leopard have immediately detected the new system
In any case is possible choose what system use in order to print

  • Archive & Install, now printing issues

    Hi all,
I have two printers: an HP6110 AllinOne, and an Epson Stylus Photo 1200. I recently performed an archive and install of my system, and then Software Update updated my system to OS10.4.11 (it was 10.4.10 before the archive and install).
There are two parts to my current problems.
    1. The original Epson driver does not work anymore. (Version 1.29 is what I have, can't find anything later.) The CUPS/Gutenprint driver does work but doesn't access all the features of my Epson printer. So, what that means is that the color calibration settings I have for the Epson driver are no longer accessible. I need to be able to print color that is correct and calibrated to my monitor color.
2a. Printing a page to the HP6110 off the internet results in a blank page being spit out, followed by a page that is cut off at the top, meaning only the bottom half of the page is printed on the paper. I have tested this printing from FireFox and Safari.
    Page setup seems normal.
The HP driver version is 2.7.2. I have tried to download from the HP site but it always times out, so I don't know if I have the latest driver or not. (I think it's something with my firewall settings, but I haven't been able to figure it out. One thing at a time.)
An internet page prints normally when sent to the Epson, but the HP is my workhorse printer. The Epson can do large format, so I usually keep large paper in it and just use it for that and for color correct printing. (Greg S., if you're out there, I tried to download the HP driver from OpenPrint with no luck.)
2b. Although I can print to the HP6110, the color looks terrible--all washed out. I will admit that I have not gone into Adobe Bridge yet to see if my color settings survived the Archive and Install. So that may fix it for my Adobe apps. Word docs are not the same as they were, but not as badly off as the Adobe docs.
    Thanks, Folks! --D

Update: Re Issue 2b: I checked the color settings in Adobe Bridge for my Adobe apps. They are all set to my original settings, using the calibrated profiles, so all is well there.
I have been reading about other printing issues and may try some of those solutions offered:
    1. unplug everything for a while--although why this would solve it who knows? Crazy! But easy, so worth a try.
    2. download and reinstall the 10.4.11 update from the Apple web site, instead of running it via Software Update.
    3. reinstall OS10.4.x from the original disks and then download updates only through when you could last print, 10.4.9 or 10.4.10.
    I will post my results!

  • PDF printing issues [SOLVED]

Ever since cups got a major upgrade I've had constant problems printing PDF-documents. I've searched and looked for solutions for more than a month. My guess was that I had messed something up by installing some kind of conflicting package that I couldn't track down. However since I made a fresh install the other day on a new SSD I could get a fresh start.
    Printer: HL-Brother 5370DW
Cups and its dependencies: updated according to stable repositories with nothing added from AUR or modified packages
    Issues before on older install:
    - pdf printing, using common Linux tools, resultet in documents filled with thin grey lines
    - Acroread would work but then it doesn't have the same dependencies
    Issues on fresh install:
    - pdf printing works... but screw up font size and page layout (font size is for whatever reason bigger, marginals smaller, and paragraphs that don't fit are seen as thin grey lines as described earlier)
    - Acroread still works
Debugging of cups don't give much since there's no obvious errors. Related to the printer the following can be noted:
D [12/Jul/2012:12:45:05 +0200] [Job 9] Inserted workaround PostScript code for Brother printers
    D [12/Jul/2012:12:45:05 +0200] [Job 9] Page = 595x842; 12,12 to 583,830
    D [12/Jul/2012:12:45:05 +0200] [Job 9] slow_collate=0, slow_duplex=0, slow_order=0
    D [12/Jul/2012:12:45:05 +0200] [Job 9] Before copy_comments - %!PS-Adobe-3.0
A haven't noticed any issues besides the PDF related ones. Maybe it's related to the same possible reason as some suggest, a conflict between poppler and cups filter. Debugging of cups gives this:
    D [12/Jul/2012:12:45:05 +0200] PID 7342 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstopdf) exited with no errors.
Does anyone know a solution for Brother printers like mine? Is there a solution in the pipeline that I could test?

A quick Google search gives me some interesting results, f.e.:
    * https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … ug/1021190
    * https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/984082
-> this insinuates that it might be an upstream-bug.
I think I read somewhere that cups has changed from PDF to PS as the 'backend', and that means that a PDF that used to be fed directly to the printer, now has to be converted to PS. This same change has given me lots of headaches to print from libreoffice...
