Printing labels with no address

this is driving me mad.
anyone any idea how to print a load of address labels for people who don't have addresses?
ie people who i will actually see and can actually give them their christmas cards.
i thought i was being organised by creating a little christmas card group in address book. but it only wants to print out the ones of people whose addresses i know. this is very annoying. why can't i do it?
i suppose i could just write xxxx in the address field and then i guess it would print. but do people want to be given a card that says, "sally smith, xxxx" ???!!!?
maybe i'll just put "happy christmas" in the address field. will that work?
ok, maybe i've solved my own problem here. but there must be a better way of doing it ...
any ideas.
thanks.

I've found no way to do this from address book. Printing labels from address book is just simple list style printing ** fill the sheet with names and print. I see no way to insert blank information like I use to do in Clairworks in order to skip rows and columns. If you need to repeat names or print only certain columns and rows, then you would need to do that from another program. I have no recomendations since I haven't used any, but I'm sure there are many out there and probably a lot that are free to download.
What I do is print out full sheets of mailing labels on the ones I used repeatedly, such as my return address, electric bill, water bill, etc. I used appleworks in the past, but now it no longer works under Lion, so I will have to make new sheets, probably from Word.
For all others addresses that are not used frequently, I've resorted to just running my envelopes throught the printer.

    Daan,
There isn't a manaul for Address Book really, just the Help info.
You can't print a page of the same label. You also cannot choose the printing position. Apple has left it up to third party developers really to design products to take advantage of the Address Book database. The real power of Address Book lies in that it works seamlessly throughout the system and acts as a centralized contact database with which other software products can make use of the data.

  • I am trying to print labels from my address book, and when I change it to have the first names first, only some names work.  Does anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it?

I want to print labels from my address book, but when I try to put first names first, only some will work.  Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

    Hi MollyPhloot07,
I'm glad you found the coupons.com app and you might also want to take a look at the GroceryIQ app from the same company.  Please note that at this time, printing is only support from iPad to HP wireless inkjet printer.  That's most likely the reason why your Canon isn't displaying when attempting to print.  The other way to go might be emailing the coupons you want to your email address, then open that email and print from a conventional desktop or laptop computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Adobe Reader 9 and printing labels with USPS.

I have read some of the other posts about Adobe Reader 9 and printing labels with USPS. I am running Snow Leopard on my IMac with Adobe reader 9.1.3 and have had no problems only when using Mozilla Firefox 3.5.3 for the Mac. There is, however, an extra step, if I recall (some window asking me to make a selection, which came up after I clicked on the "print and bill" button). But everything worked just fine.

    Hi,
Thank you for the quick response. I've done that but the problem persists.
A bit about my computer it's Vista, but the folders are a little weird. Default install directory and common files folders are on a different drive. In addition appdata are also on a different drive. However this should not affect sinve I've already re-installed Adobe Reader multiple times and it used to work just fine.
But perhaps the problem is indeed path related. Anybody with more ideas to share?
    Thank you in advance.
Update: When I reinstall Adobe Reader and open the file, the first time I try to install Japanese font it does not end with "registering product" but with something like "removing backup files" (see attachment). If I try to install Japanese font again and again, I will get the "registering product" at the final glimpse of the installation pop-up.

  • Missing field when printing labels with Address Book

I am would like to print the labels for my clients Christmas Cards, using AddressBook. When doing print > label, I get all their names and addresses on the labal formt that I want but the company name is missing. How do I get AddressBook to include the field "company" into the label ?
    Thanks for help.

If you need to include the company's and individual's name, here's a work-around:
    1) for each such card, you put the individual's name and leave the Company field empty.
    2) Put the company name in the field for "Street"
    3) Put the street address, including Apt. # in the field for "City"
    4) Now, put the City, State, and Postal Code all in one field: the field for "Country".
    5) save the card.
When printing labels, proceed as follows:
    1) Print>File>choose your Avery label under "Layout" and then click "Label."
    2) Here, you make sure to check the box so it will "Print country." Don't forget this step, or the whole plan is a failure.
This works, but it only works if the card is in-putted as described above. It won't work if your cards are already set-up with the "company" field and the "name" field.

  • Printing labels with partner

    Hi there,
Is it possible to print labels through address book that include the partner information? For example if my address card reads:
    Joe Blogs
    Partner: Jane Doe
    9 Street Name
    Suburb, State, Postcode
Can I get a label to print:
    Joe Blogs and Jane Doe
    9 Street Name
    Suburb, State, Postcode
    Thanks!
    ibook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Olivia, I looked at your question again.
The answer is simply yes. it will print a label exactly as you want it to.
...that is if I correctly understood what you had created in your card...that in the Menu bar, under "Card," you selected "Add Field," and that from that drop down menu, you selected "Related Names." You then turned to the card itself, which likely showed the field of "Friend." You clicked on "Friend" and from that drop down menu chose "Partner" and entered" Jane Doe" ... if you did, then you're all set.
If that is where your Partner line comes from, then when you print (selecting label, of course), it will print a label as
    Joe Blogs and Jane Doe.
(You can confirm that you have it right by clicking on Preview in the Print dialog and you will see your label as it will be printed)

Does anybody know of a good label printer that is at least somewhat compatible with Address Book? I know Address Book itself has limitations, but are there any label printers with software that can synch fairly simply with it?
Just curious -- any other related advice on the topic would be appreciated.

  • Mailing labels with Japanese addresses

    Hi folks,
It's that time of the year to send the holiday cards with fancy labels
and I'd been using iDress, but they've dropped off the face of the Earth.
Anyway, trying to use the mailing label designer in the Address Book and all
seems to work well except for Japanese addresses. The person's name is printed
on the bottom - after the address. Anyone know how to get around this?

I'm not entirely clear on what you mean by "their own addresses". Would this be email addresses in other IP domains, and you're finding you can't send email "from" those addresses and from those other domains from your ISP connection?
The reason you may be having difficulties here is because these "custom addresses" here are a regular feature of spam. This whether from a compromised SMTP server, or from malware installed on the server or the client systems.
The ISP may well choose to deny altered return addresses; your "custom addresses". (ISPs tend to deny the spoofing of return email addresses, and may not accept email arriving from ISP clients via port 25, as these and other techniques cut down on the volume of out-bound spam.)
If this is happening, you might have to set up forwarding of the mail messages to the target addresses, to get the message from your server along to the target address. But the message(s) will have your domain or the domain provided to you by the ISP as the return address.
Some of the anti-spam techniques -- SPF, for instance -- will also tend to prevent mail from spoofed sources from being processed.

  • Why can't i get the air print feature of ipad to print labels with consistent alignment

we are a medical office and uses iPad to chart as part of electronic medical record.  We use the airprint to print our biopsy labels but are having problems to have the lebels to print within alignment consistently.  There does not seem to be a patter why sometime it is aligned and why sometimes it is not.  The EMR vendor said it is not a software issue.  Not been able to get help with Apple tech support.

It seems to me it would be an issue with the print drivers of the printer you are using, related to your specific printer and the way it interprets print jobs coming from Air Print.  What printer are you using and is it Air Print enabled, or are you using  some other type of solution? Can you print the labels, properly aligned, from some other non-iOS platform?

  • Quantity determination for printing labels

    Folks,
How and where can I configure how many labels should be printed for a delivery? I.e. I have a material label with customer address and order number on it and depending on the material, we should have different quantities of labels. For example, for bath tubs, we need 1 label for every batch but for bolts we need 1 per pallet and not 1 for each bolt.
    How can this be configured?
    Regards,
    MdZ

    Hi!
Could you let me know if you are using the Sales Unit of measure. If yes, then is the Sales Unit of measure has the same level of aggregation as mentioned by you in your problem. If yes then you just need to use the delivery quantity as the number of labels.
If your level of aggregation is not same as the sales unit of measure than you can create a new unit of measure called packaging volume as an extra field in delivery and use this for determining the number of levels to be printed.
    Hope this helps,
    Abhishek

  • Problem printing labels?

Since updating to 10.5 I'm having trouble printing labels from the Address Book. Is there someplace to change the defaults? I couldn't find one for fonts and labels. It always goes back to the default font, size and type of label. I only use one setting and find it very frustrating to keep going back to to change them.

The only spot for changing printing options is in Address Book's Print dialog. You can explore those if you haven't already to see what you can find.
