Printing large files in LR

When printing very large files (800+ megs) from lightroom to my HP z3200ps 44" printer (on mac), nearly half of the print is this gray noise pattern. It seems to only be with large prints, smaller prints of the same file have no issues. Also large prints through the mac preview program work fine as well, but I'd like to print via LR. Ideas or solutions?

The term video usually means non-stills, so I was confused.
Do you mean the Photos app (where the camera roll is) is crashing?
Most files I've shot with the 3GS camera are 1.1-1.2 megabytes so files size is not unusual.
4441x984 is larger than the typical file found in Camera Roll, so maybe the dimensions are an issue.
Or maybe there is an issue with files imported to Camera Roll from a non-iPhone source. Where are these odd-sized files from?

  • Failure of CS2/3 to print large files on HP5500uv printer

I have a file with the following parameters. Pixel Dimension 472.8M, w=15300 pixels, H=8100 pixels, W=51 in., H=27 in., R=300. I have saved this file in many different formats including tiff, psd, psb, jped and pdf. I have a dual 2Ghz PowerPC G5 computer with OS 10.4.11 with 4GB SDRAM and an internal scratch disk of 500GB. When I attempt to print this file on a HP5500ps UV printer the sequence looks normal for several minutes, then a message Printer sent unexpected EOF appears and then after a short time, a message No job printing. That is, there is no print output. I have tried the different formats and Ive tried CS2 and CS3, all with the same results. I have tried a direct link from computer to printer, no change. No other programs are active.
If I drop the resolution down to 250, so the file is about 325Mb the file prints normally. Is there any way to print the full size file?

There are a couple of things you can try; 1.) see if you have enough system memory to process the page ( it could be running out of system memory ); 2.) set an invisible holding line to the page / document and lock it ( no stroke, no fill @ 13 x 19 ); 3.)  Use the Page tool ( if you haven't already ) and set it to the document, edge-to-edge.  Also, check you ink supplies, there may be an empty cartridge preventing you from printing the entire file.  Hope this helps.

  • Can´t print large files with 10.5.7

    Hi,
we finally have updated our G5s, 2x2GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB system disk. Since then we are unable to print documents from CS3 + CS4 which result in cups print files > 1 Gb. Doesn´t work with GMG rips, HP Laserwriters and Adobe PDF printers. The jobs always show up as "stopped" in the queue. Error log of cups says:

We have tested a catalog file with 150 pages which didn´t print. If you broke it up into 6 pieces (print page 1-25, 26-50...) it did work. Unfortunally we have jobs with single pages exceeding this limit. All together we have tested around 10 differend files.
We have tried to reset the printer queue, installed the drivers and deleted and created all printers, but nothing helps. Looks like cups or one of it´s helper can´t handle files larger than 1 GB?
    Any help is welcome.

    Hi there,
Does you printer/RIP support protocols other than AppleTalk? If it does, then I would change it to something like HP Jetdirect-Socket.

  • SO9 on XP - Can't print large files

I'm running SO9 on XP and I've an a4 page of labels (36) I go to print and the printer spooler icon appears on the taskbar, there is a lot of hard drive activity but after about three minutes the printer spooler just empties the file without printing. My printer (Epson Stylus Photo R800) has a tech help button and this tells me that it couldn't open the document - I recently had the same problem with SO8 - yet my letters with letterheads print perfectly from either. Any ideas anyone?

  • Failing to print very large files

I've got an iMac running the newest Leopard, printing to a network printer. Printing usually works without incident. However, when printing large documents -- say a 20-40MB PowerPoint presentation with lots of color -- I receive the following message after 10-20 minutes of waiting:
    /usr/libexec/cups/backend/socket failed
The printer is an HP Color LaserJet 8550DN with 96MB RAM and a 3.1GB internal HD.
When printing large documents to this printer, printing seems to proceed correctly (if slowly) before reaching the inevitable error message.
Possible causes would seem to be
--too large a print job for the printer (though lpq suggests that many of the jobs that failed were <50MB). There was no other network printing taking place on this printer when the jobs failed.
--some kind of timeout issue. How is the timeout value set? It doesn't appear to be in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, at least at the moment.
    Any other suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks.

This info relates directly only to an Epson 9800. However, it may have applications elsewhere.
Generally, the print spooler in the 9800 with Photoshop will not print large files (>100 mb or so) unless you first convert them to the printer profile and shut down and restart the Mac and then print the converted image. This is true for Tiger and Leopard. In addition Leopard takes about twice as long to spool and since I print lots of 500 mb files, I have given up and gone back to Tiger (lots of other reasons also).

  • Canon ip5000 freezes with large files while printing via Airport Express

I've discovered a fairly consistent problem when I print from my Powerbook G4 17" to my Canon ip5000 printer. My printer is connected to an Airport Express, which is set as a print server.
When I print large files - say, a full-quality photo, or a web page with a lot of images - the printer freezes about 20% of the way through the document. It will hang, and the print queue just says its still printing, with the status bar at the 20% - 30% range and holding.
If I leave things alone, eventually, the printer will spit out the unfinished print-out. The queue will continue to read "in progress" until I manually delete the print job.
I've been able to repeat this problem with about 80% consistently, although 20% of the time, the print-out works fine (even when printing the same image that failed previously).
Any ideas / assistance is apprecaited.

  • Very large file 1.6 GB..sports program for school. lots of photos, template where media spots saved and dropped photos in..trying to get it to printer swho says its too large but when reduces size loses all quality...HELP??

Please help...large file my sons Athletic program. Had noto problem with Quality last year..this new printer said file is too large..too many layers, can I FLATTEN..He reduced size and photos look awful. It is 81 pages. Have to have complete before next friday!! Help anyone??

At that size it sounds like you have inserted lots of photos at too large a size and resolution.
Especially for a year book style project, first determine your image sizes and crop and fix the resolution to 300 dpi, then drag them into the publication. Pages does not use external references to files and rapidly grows to quite large size unless you trim and size your images before placement.

When you are dealing with websites, image file size is a trade off between quality and download speed. There's not a lot of point to having high quality images if they take too long to download in the browser.
Nowadays we also have to consider the device that the end user is viewing the images on. An image that is optimized for viewing on a large screen is total overkill and unsuitable for those using mobile devices.
Really we should be supplying different versions of media files for different devices using @media rules in the stylesheet but this is rather outside of the scope of iWeb. If you use the built in image optimizer and the iWeb Photo template with slideshow, the application will optimize the images according to the way in which you set this function in preferences and the slideshow size will be automatically reduced for those viewing it on smaller screens.
If you want to give your viewers the opportunity to view large, high quality images, you can supply them as a download.

  • Printing Large Format Hi Res files?

I need to print a hi res file (150ppi +) at 36" x 240".  The file is 556 mb.  Photoshop won't even allow me to print it at this size - the "print" is grayed out in the file list.  Does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a way to print such a large file at this resolution?
Also, when I downsize the resolution between 300 - 400 mb, I can access the print function, but the file seems to get lost on the way to the printer.  Why does this happen and can it be remedied?

If you're not using a RIP, then the standard print driver limits you to just over 90 inches in print length. You need to use a RIP to print longer. The least expensive and easiest to use is the ColorBurst RIP and they have a fully functional 15 day trial, assuming your printer is on the list of supported printers. I've printed up to about thirteen feet with an Epson 9800 using ColorBurst.

  • PSCS3 Not Printing after ultra fast spool on large files

Using a Mac Pro OSx10.5.5 with 10gig Ram printing PSdriver (no RIP) over Ethernet to Epson 9800 from CS3. When I send to print, the file regardless of size spools in 1-2 seconds and then no print. I have no trouble printing from CS2, from a Rip or any other program. Just not CS3 - Can anyone help??

    Neil,
I have upgraded all drivers and yes using the same driver from Epson (most current). Epson of course has been at a loss for help. I have looked at Fonts, but all appear ok, sometimes I can get it to work after rebuilding permissions. Sometimes I can make it work all day or from one print to the next it will not work. The console has povided little help or perhaps I am not reading it correctly. What do you think?? Any ideas...Thanks in advance!

  • How can I print to file (simple output) from the print dialog? Not PDF or PostScript

    Hello
I do quite a bit of work in virtual terminal (SSH) and I tend to pull enormous amounts of data that need to be saved to a *.txt file. This needs to have ZERO formatting, as it is simply data extracted from a data base (CSV, tab delimited, etc). This information is then formatting through the use of other applications (excel, access, etc). By zero formatting i mean, no text wrap, nothing! It needs to be a text based pure database output.
I cannot use Print to PDF
I cannot use Print to PostScript
both of these include formatting, and erroneous data that would require me many hours to clean up the data by hand. On a Windows based PC you can simply install a "Print to File" printer through your printer setup menu.
I've spent many hours searching online and other seem to need this same exact type of output.
The closest thing i've been able to do is create an automator file that upon printing converts the PDF into a text file. This doesn't work as it retains the formatting per the original PDF document. This also doesn't seem to help as some outputs are 30mb in size.
If anybody could assist with this that would be awesome. Thanks!
