I'm printing a "magazine" style directory that I want stapled bound. Ideally I'd like it to be printed double-sided on 11x17 paper then when folded it will be two facing 8.5 x 11 pages. How do I set it up Pages to comply with the tricky pagination and printing?

The trick to doing this lies in the difference between the dimensions used for the pagination and the dimensions used for the imposition.
You set the dimensions for the pagination through the page setup dialog and you set the dimensions for the imposition through the PDF/X filter in the ColorSync Utility.
You don't know what devices the print shop has for imposition or what dimensions these devices need over and above the dimensions for the pagination. Pick a professional print shop and ask for details of the dimensions you should input in dialogs. Getting it right begins with getting the right information at the beginning. Also, while you are at it, ask for the OutputIntent that defines the size and shape of colour space you are purchasing in the print run. If the print shop has no concept of what colour space it supports, then walk away.

I have not idea how you do it with Picasa but with iPhoto you either export the photos to a desktop folder and upload from there or burns that folder to CD - or from the upload window use the media browser in the lower left hand corner of the upload windows - media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

You could if you want a postcard sized print.
Printers need a lot more "dots" per inch and even a 1920X1080 video doesn't have enough "dots" to make more than a postcard.

Adobe Reader can`t print like on screen

2012Y. Years and years. Reader can not print like on screen. Even with the option - print as a picture. Only version 7.0 can.

Adobe Pro printing like a bad fax on one computer, same doc emailed to another computer prints fine

My PC is printing like a bad fax on both my printer or just print to file PDF. Everything is thick and smeary and difficult to read. If I email the same document to another computer it prints fine on the same printer. This happens with brand new company documents as well as docs that have been scanned or faxed to me

Do you have another printer to test to on the offending PC?
Check the Advanced button (in the Print Dialog) and verify that "Print As Image" is disabled.
With Acrobat Pro you have Distiller -
Print as normal, excepting toggle the Save As File (somewhere in the Print dialog).
This will produce a .ps file, note the destination of it.
Double click the .ps file or drag it into Distiller.

Google Maps like "Ontario Magazine"

I'd like to use the Google Maps feature like "Ontario Magazine" does. You can even use Street View in their magazine.

Ontario Magazine is using the new Google Maps JavaScript API v3, wich is now the official way of using google maps on your website or mobile device.

With that you add many parameters (like map zoom and all the additional blobs) to the javascript call. This involves basic knowledge about Javascript.
Like Bob said, you need to make a HTML page with all the neccessary keys and data (see google's documentation) and that should give you the effect like in the ontario magazine, even enabling google streetview.

If I recall, the picture package is in Bridge. Which was removed in CC and newer.
In bridge change the workspace to see the output options.

Help - Why don't swing applet print, like awt applets do?

I am using JTable in a applet, but I would like to be able to print the applet using microsoft explorer. I had written a bulkier version of the same applet using an array of TextFields to establish a Table effecte. The code is bulking and loads slow in the browser. JTables work better but the applet shows up all black when I try and print it. What do I do to fix the problem? Do I have to use TextField if I want to print it? Any suggestions would be helpfull.

While waiting I dug deeper into the bugged section of code and found that:
divider.setBounds(0,62,600,2);
was the problem, and that:
divider.setBounds(0,62,600,4);
works.
Don't ask me why I couldn't tell you, but IE 6 doesn't like the heigth to be less than 4. If it is the entire applet prints out black.

Photo print like a pointillist painting.(Elements 9)

It seems that suddenly photos printed from Elements 9 either in Edit mode or Organize mode come out looking like a pointillist painting. I know that my HP photoprinter is not the culprit because it prints photos and text fine from Windows. I did not choose any special effects, brush strokes or filters. This did not happen in one session only. I have not been able to print through Elements 9 for weeks. Can't find an answer on the web or in Help.

Before you do that, you could try resetting the preferences to defaults by using this technique:

If thios doesn't work, then try to rename the PSE settings folder to something else. The folder is at this link in Windows 7:
<C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0>
Change 10.0 to 10.0(0ld). Also, username = YOUR OWN USERNAME
It is worth a try but if it doesn't work then you can al;ways rename the folder back to 10.0 and so nothing is lost!!
You could also go to the folder 10.0 and see if you can identify something from the name and change just that folder name so that it is reset when you start PSE again.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU SHOULD BE DOING ALL THIS WHILE PSE IS SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY OTHERWISE YOU WILL CORRUPT EVERYTHING.
I am told that reinstalling PSE does not necessarily reset the preferences unless you manually delete the folders as well. This is not an easy thing to do because these are all over the place including in the Windows Registry.

Officejet 5610 Prints like it has double vision

I have tried trouble shooting my printer(i have cleaned the cartridges then aligned them about 15 times). It says there are no errors but, it prints both from the computer and copied from the glass like it has double vision. When I use the scanner function the image looks fine.

If the printer has had quite a bit of use it is possible the encoder strip that signals to the printer where the printhead is has become fogged with ink aerosol. This can cause double printing or other defects. Cleaning the strip as discussed in this post may resolve your issue.

I am unable to print articles from magazines from Google Books - the background prints, but not the article

When I try to print from "File", then "Print" only the background "stuff" prints, not the article I am trying to print from Popular Mechanics in Google books. Sometime in the past I had a program (I think it was Mozilla Firefox) which allowed me to take a "screen shot" of the entire screen, edit out the unwanted graphics, zoom in or out and then print only the edited version on a full page format. I've changed computers, and am still setting the new one up to my preferences. Can you help me print articles from Popular Mechanics on Google books?

Chances are you have one of two problems; either a non-standard "Media Type" is selected or your page margins are messed up. If the Media Type is correct, try doing the '''reset''' mentioned on that support page.
