Printing menu dissappeared

I'm on a G5 , just upraded to OS 10.5.8 and the final menu that appears when I print that allows me to select "no color mangement" and "1440 dpi" is no longer available. The print menu goes straight from selecting print source and paper profile to a menu that allows preview and a few other choices, but no color management and dpi choices. I believe this is a result of the OS upgrade, but am not sure. Thanks for your help.

Chris, I appreciate your help. The canon is up and running following your directions! Unfortunately, on the epson 2200, i'm still lacking those critical printer dialogue boxes that I had before, as mentioned in my original post. could the updates, either to my mas os, or printer driver, have lost these choices? perhaps the choices are no longer available, though that would be hard to believe. the printer will print, but without the opportunity for me to make these selections of "no color management", "1440 dpi"' etc. Thanks, Craig

Go to System Preferences, Printers&Fax, delete the printer, reinstall the printer and make sure you select the manufacturer's driver and not a GutenPrint driver.

ICal print menu will not come up

I have been trying to print my iCal calendar from my PowerBook G4, but the print menu will not come up. I have printed it from here before, so where did the print menu go? Help!

We have exactly the same problem here:
OS 10.4.3, iCal 2.0.3, HP Photosmart 2610
- Printing on any app works fine, ecept iCal
- in iCal choosing the command "print..." just does nothing.
I tried:
- creating a new user - > printing in iCal works fine!
so I tried:
- trashing ...
... all ical-plists in "user/Library/Preferences/"
... the folder "user/Library/Application Support/iCal"
... moving all user-pref files out of the preferences folder
... disabling all the fonts in "users/Library/Fonts/" and "hd/Library/Fonts"
no way the get it back to print!
I'm sure it has nothing to do with the HP printer, cause on a different account it works.
Any ideas what else I could disable?

Color Laserjet Pro 200 MFP Print Menu

When I use my iMac 27 with this printer, I don't see all the print options in the print menu in Preview etc. that are mentioned in the User Guide. No "Color/Quality" options/Advanced etc. to change. I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from HP. I am using OS X 10.9.4. Am I doing something incorrectly or missing something. The product is working fine otherwise.

It sounds to me from your description that you might be using the Mac AirPrint driver instead of the HP driver. I suggest the follow;
Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
hen you add the printer, ensure you are using the HP driver, not the AirPrint driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can the printer driver
Please let me know if this resolves the issue. If you require further assistance, let me know which LJ 200 model you have (How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?), and if you have downloaded and installed the full feature software and driver from the HP website.

Lack of choices in printer menu

When I open my printer I no longer get a full list of functions (scan a document etc). I only have 3 now - See what's printing, Customise my printer, Set preferences. I have an HP Deskjet 3050A J611 series and my laptop is a Packard Bell Easynote TJ65 running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Thanks for your reply. You should definitely have the option to scan from the printer menu. I'm glad you found a way to do it through picture manger. What I would suggest if you want to give it a try is to uninstall the software completely and reinstall from a download. It sounds like something is corrupt with your installation.

Can't print pdf - no Adobe in printer menu

Firstly I should explain that my computer is running OSX 10.5.3. One of my applications doesn't work properly on Leopard, so I recently installed my old Panther (10.3.7) onto an external drive and boot off that in order to work in that programme. As suggested by Apple Discussions.
This evening I was trying to print as pdf (print to create a pdf) but there's no Adobe printer showing in the printer menu and, I can only assume consequently? the pdfs aren't quite right. I'm printing technical drawings, so the lines etc. need to be correct, but the pdf image seems a bit corrupted. This is a simple process that works fine in my current OS, and I used to do it fine when Panther was installed conventionally on this computer..
But really my main query is why there's no Adobe printer showing up, and is it possible to add one. I downloaded the adobe reader 5.05, but when I ran the installer it said installation couldn't proceed, no system folder.
I'm stuck because I can't open the drawing files in Leopard, I can create them in Panther, but not create pdfs (which is an important part.) Does anyone have any thoughts?

I have downloaded adobe reader 7 and got it on the Panther system (version 8 won't download from Adobe's site.) I looked in preferences and can't see anything about printers, but maybe I'm missing something? In Printer Set-up Utility, when I go to add, still no appearance of a pdf printer..

Acrobat 9 Pro: Printing Menu Painfully Slow

Hi folks, new here and first post... I'm having problems with my Adobe Pro V9. When I click the print icon, or select print, the dialogue box for the print menu is painfully slow to come up. Even on small size, low resolution documents it can take over 60 secs for the print dialogue screen to come up.
Does anyone know why this is the case? Can and how can it be fixed?
One of the IT guys here gave me a big load of tosh about why it does this but I know from experience that it has got worse since first install and that some documents spool up really quickly. Feedback and advice much appreciated.

I have had some issues, but nothing as bad as you. It may be that your file has a lot of graphics or such.
There appears to be a lot of preprocessing going on before the actual print that becomes the problem.

Need help - Print Menue in Acrobat Pro and Standard

at first, i have to apologize for my bad englisch because I'm german.
I downloaded a Trial of Acrobat pro and there I hava an extended Print menue where I can choose individual Color Profiles.
There is an image attached.
But I don't really need the Acobat pro Features, because I need Acrobat only for Color Printing on my Printer. And it ist expensive.
So my Question to you is: Is this extended Print menue also in Acobat 9 Standard?
There is no Trial, so that I hope, that someone can help me.
Can I also set this settings in Acrobat 9 Standard?

The Advanced Print menu in 9 Standard does not have all of the options that are in your screen shot.
Checked with a coworker who has 9 Standard, and the options are much more limited. (I have 8 Pro).
Bad news is you would need 9 Pro.

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

Change labels in print menu from address book

I am trying to print invitation labels from my address book for a personal party. I would like to change the labels in the print menu to add "and guest" or "and family". I called Mac support but they couldn't help me. Does anyone know how to manipulate the the guest names in the print menu to make it "party friendly" versus "business version"? Thanks!

Welcome to the Discussions Jenp13,
NO, you can't edit any data in the print menu in OSX. There are several programs that you can use that will interface with or accept data from Address Book. From searching sites like Apple's Made4Mac page or checking out macupdate you can find many.
PearLabelizer is free and Mail Factory and HomePrint Labels are other options that I came across. Most are able to d/l and try for free before purchase, so check out a few and make sure it fits your need before buying.

IPhoto freezing on print command before print menu appears

Has anyone encountered iPhoto freezing when selecting "print" from the file menu, before the actual print menu appears? I'm not using huge files here -- 600 KB photo, for example -- but I get the spinning beach ball of death every time I try to print a photo.
I have 3000 photos in my library, use Panther, have a five-year-old ibook with a 10 g hard drive so I house my library on an external hard drive.
Sound like a preferences file problem, for example? Any advice anyone can offer would help immensely.

That's a whole different animal. You didn't move or rename any of the files from the Finder did you?
Do try cleaning out the cache files with OnyX. Also I'd run the 10.3.9 COMBO updater followed by a repair of permissions with Disk Utility. Reinstalling the latest combo updater can clear up a multitude of issues. Finally, is those don't work make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library folder and then launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all of the options except the last one regarding orphans. Do empty your iPhoto library before the rebuild.
If the rebuild doesn't go as intended and is worse than the original library just trash it and go back to the backup copy. Sometimes it's necessary, most times not. Good luck.

Problems with "Image adjustments" in print menu

I am having roblems with "Image adjustments" in the Aperture print menu. When I try to use Brightness, Contrast or Saturation in the Image Ajustment section of the Print menu I get a white screen where my photo to print had been. When I uncheck the Image Ajustments block my photo returns.
Has anyone else had this problem, and/or can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks in advance

Not seeing that here. 10.9.2 and 3.5.1
Does it happen with all images? If so create a new library import an image into it and see if the problem still happens.
If it happens with a new library try a doing it as a different user. Either use the Guest account or make a new user, make a nee library, import an image and try it.
If it happens with just the one library try a library repair. If it happens with multiple libraries but just in the one user account try moving the Aperture preference file out.
If it happens with he new user also try reinstalling Aperture.
See Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics for direction on doing a repair or moving the preference file.

All my pdf files can be printed in low quality on my Brother printer but can't print in high quality in the printer menu.

My problem is that all my pdf files can be printed when I choose "low quality printing" in my Brother printer menu but cannot be printed in "high quality". When trying to print in high quality, the documents load in the printer tray and it says 1 document then disappears and 0 document printing is showing. I have some pdf files that I want to print in color in high quality and black and white but I'm unable to do so. It only prints in low quality for both color and black and white.

2. Also, please check if there is any new update available for your Printer Driver.

CS4 - Can't Get to Print Menue

When I try to print a photo in PS SC4, I get the following message: "Before you can preform a printer task suah as page setup or print a document, you need to install a printer." I get the same message using Windows XP or Windows 7. I was able to print a week ago, but now thing. I tried resetting the preferences with no change.
Is there someone who has incountered this type of issue before? Thanks

I finally got it to work. This is my story and I am sticking to it! I used another program, Olympus Studio II, to print out my photos after making updates on CS4. This got me through printing out the photos I needed. Then I went back to CS4 to try the default printer suggestion. But, when I got back to CS4 I fund that I could access the printer menu and process a photo. It sound similar to the default printer suggestion. Only I changes applications and then it seems to work. I have two systems Windows XP (old work station) and Windows 7 (new laptop). I had the same problem with both and the approach I taken above seems to resolve the issue on both systems. Don't ask me why. I hope this helps!
