Printing multiple documents in single pdf on double sided printer

What is the best way to print a PDF document with a large number of documents so that the start of a successive document does not end up printing on the back page of the prior document? Each document has a cover page and could be used as a "key", but not sure how to set that "cover page" as the key which could then be used to instruct the printer to start on a new page - almost as if a new print job??

http://www.a-pdf.com/?product-mg
is a program which you can select a bunch of pdf files and combine them into one pdf.  In the options pane , you can tell it to automatically add a blank page at the end of each odd numbered pdf file.   You can simply then print the new combined pdf double sided on your copier, and it would print correct.
If you want to still have the pdf as separate pdfs, in Options you can select " bookmark by file name" before combining.
After combining, view the new pdf in Acrobat and  you can 'split pdfs by top level bookmarks.

  • Multiple documents in single PDF

Hi. I'm using Adobe Livecycle PDF generator. Is that possible with this product to merge multiple converted documents into a single PDF file?
Shuold I use Assembler instead? Does Assembler convert the documents into pdf like generator do?

I think you would need both Assembler and PDF Generator to convert then join. I've wondered the same thing about the PDFG API, but I'm pretty certain it's not possible to perform even simple PDF file joins.
Perhaps you could look at doing it the other way round? i.e. join the files then convert... (perhaps via postscript or something?)

    Hi,
You might experiment with a page or two first.
    1.Choose File > Print.
2.From the Subset pop-up menu in the Print Range area, select Even Pages Only.
    3.Click OK or Print.
4.If the total number of pages is odd, add a blank sheet so the final odd page has a sheet to print on.
5.Put the stack of printed paper back into the supply (source) paper tray so that the unprinted sides print. Point the top of the pages toward the printer. Make sure that the edges of the paper stack are square.
6.Choose File > Print and select Odd Pages Only from the Subset menu.
7.Select the Reverse Pages option. In this scenario, the Reverse pages option ensures that the page sequence is correct.
    8.Click OK or Print.

How To Export Windows Forms Multiple DataGridViews in single PDF using iTextSharp, C#

    Hi friend,
Actually iText is a third party library to create PDF originally written for java. iTextSharp is the C# adaptation of that library.
Question regarding iText are better asked on the iText forum, but this is Microsoft Forum:

  • Merging numbers documents into single PDF for emailing

I have 23-50 numbers documents (invoices) that I want to send as one single PDF (to save time).
When I select them all in Finder and open in Preview they are not full size and are rotated the wrong way.
When I open them seperately in Numbers and cmd P they show up fine covering the whole A4 paper and are rotated correctly.
Is there any way of sending multiple Numbers files as one PDF, or separate PDFs without having to open each one and Cmd P > PDF and drag/drop into Mail??
Trying to save time, as we have 23-50 of these every week to do!
We don't want to save them as PDFs as we create the documents as this takes up space on the computer - and there's loads of them!
Hoping someone will know the answer.
Thanks for taking the time to help

    Hi again mm,
Use a master document in Numbers to temporarily hold copies of each invoice, each on a separate Sheet.
As you complete each invoice, copy that table and then go to the temporary master document. Add a new Sheet and delete the default table that appears. Paste the new invoice. If the invoice has formulas, Menu > Edit > Paste Formula Results (because in Numbers, the formulas will not link back to the original document).
When you are ready to email this master document, Menu > File > Print... and in Print Preview panel on the right > Print All Sheets:
Click on the Print... button (it won't print yet). Bottom left of the print dialogue choose Save As PDF
That is the PDF for you to email and then delete. *
I tried this with an "invoice" on each of two Sheets. Not tried with 23-50 invoices .
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • SCRIPT TO IMPORT MULTIPLE PLACED IMAGES..AND OUTPUT MULTIPLE IMAGES TO SINGLE PDF.

Anyone got a script to import multiple placed images into CS4? or is this possible in CS5?
and can we output multiple layers into a single PDF in illustrator?  Or multiple layers into single JPEGS from illustrator with one command instead of individually saving out each page... would be a huge time saver for me.
Currently I output each completed layer individually and then right click those outputted jpegs in their output folder and choose "combine supported files into acrobat..." to make a single acrobat file..
I`d also like to be able to CTRL click multiple layers and go save as... only those layers get saved out...
And so adding something in the Save for PDF output dialogue box to save layers to multiple pages would be a helpful time saver..

In CS 4 and CS 5 you can drag and drop fro m the finder or the Bridge, and I guess any other similar type viewer, multiple number of image files to a document. You can configure the bridge in such a way as to allow you to see the Bridge and your document at the same time for this very purpose.
If you just drag and drop the files are linked if you drag while holding the shift key then the files will be embedded.
ID and PS CS 5 have a minibridge which works the sam way but is an actually panel and will stay in the front.
I separate the images but they import one on top of another.

  • Creating PDFs for Double Sided Printing Problem

I'm not having trouble printing, but with generating a pdf that will print double sided correctly. Currently I have a pdf with many invoices on it. Some are an odd number of pages long and some even. The problem I have is if I don't insert a blank page to the invoices with an odd number of pages (to make it even), then the next invoice's 1st page will be on the back of the previous invoice.
    Example:
    Invoice #1 has 3 pages
    Invoice #2 has 4 pages
    Invoice #3 has 2 pages
    After double-siding
    Invoice #1
    Page 1
Front: Page 1 from Invoice 1
Back: Page 2 from Invoice 1
    Page 2
Front: Page 3 from Invoice 1
Back: Page 1 from Invoice 2 <------ This is my issue

    Hi Brian
this is addressed in 5.6.2, you can force and odd or even page to end the document, if you need the extra blank page to finish on a odd page say XMLP will insert it for you. Check the docs, http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25516_11/current/acrobat/115xdoug.zip

  • Error message when trying to merge multiple files into single PDF file

Greetings! I'm on windows 7 professional, adobe 9 pro and a 64 bit PC. When I try to merge several PDF files from the same folder into a single PDF file I get this error message "You can choose multiple items only if they are all located in the same folder" - Please help! Thx.

The product is Acrobat, not Adobe. That being said, I suspect you may only be running AA 9.0 and that may be the issue. If you have not done the updates to the 9.5.5, you probably should. That may fix the issue you are having, particularly since you mentioned a 64-bit system.

  • Opening multiple document in single instance (window)

Someone here mentioned this: "Acrobat 9 no longer supports opening multiple documents in the same window."
This is disappointing.. does anyone know the workaround / hack?
    Running Acrobat 9 Standard.
    Thanks,

Unfortunately yes you're correct. The cause was due to no MDI support, which Adobe removed starting at v9.

  • Multiple Documents in Single Window in Preview

I mostly use Preview.app (on Lion 10.7.3) to read and annotate relatively large pdf documents (articles, reports, etc.). While working on a given project I tend to have many pdf files open at the same time. I personally would like to have all of the pdfs I use open in a single window, so I have Preview set to "Open all files in one window" (Preferences > General). This setup initially worked very well since it allows me view all of my open documents in the sidebar (similar to tabs in a browser window). The problem is that when I switch from one pdf to another, the position of the pdfs (i.e., the page I was on when I switched to another pdf) is not preserved. This seemingly defeats the purpose of having this functionality in Preview, so I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help me with.
First, is this the intended behavior of this setting, or is this a bug? In either case, is anyone aware of a fix for this? I just want the documents I'm reading to preserve their positions when switching between them when opened in a single window.

Thanks, very helpful tip indeed. Lets just say Ive opened 5 pdfs in preview simultaneously and I wanted to add another pdf to the 5, how do I do this? I'm sure there must be a way.
    Thanks
Edit: I've now found out how to do this:
Add files to an existing window
    Choose View > Thumbnails.
Drag the files to the window’s sidebar.
    Thanks

  • Managing Multiple Documents in a PDF

I was just hoping to get some advice for my project.
I have created a User's Manual for my company.  The manual was made in Word with the intent of porting it to a PDF.  Each section in the manual has its own Word document.  I then did the "Combine in PDF" option to put them together. In the PDF there are a number of links within the documents, specifically on the table of contents as well as bookmarks.
The problem lies in the updating of the manual.  I will not be maintaining the manual so I have to document an easy way for other people to make changes to the manual.  The best way I could find would be for them to make changes to the Word document, turn it into a PDF, delete those pages (that section) from the PDF, and then re-insert the section via Document>Insert pages.  Lastly, you'd have to go back and update any links to those pages, as well as add bookmarks for those pages and then update the page numbering.
While this method works, Acrobat doesn't recognize the inserted pages as a document, but rather as a bunch of unique pages.  Whereas immediately after making the initial PDF file it does.  This is only a real issue because when it's recognized in its unique parts it's easy to delete the pages as a group.
Mainly I'm asking - is there a better solution to managing a bunch of Word documents (roughly 14) in a PDF?  If not, is there a way to get Acrobat to recognize the sections of the combined manual as individual documents?
This is really the first time I've used Acrobat, so I was hoping for some experienced user's advice.  I'm open to any and all suggestions/recommendations.
    Thanks!

<on high horse>The best way to do this is not to use Word! You really want to create all your links, TOC, Index, etc in your original program. Update the files as needed and regenerate the pdf file so as to keep everything consistent. My recommendation would be FrameMaker, though these days perhaps InDesign would be a candidate for the mix.
I know the arguement for using Word. We own it, the manual is finished, the people that will maintain it know how to use it. However, they will not know how to manage the final product in Acrobat, they will not be that conversant with Word's capabilties for making links in Word, creating TOC, Index, and managing the links in Word. In the long run FrameMaker is the better choice and will take less work. In fact, with the Technical Communications Suite's Robohelp you can also generate html files for the help system and use Captivate to make the content more compelling. Frame can import the Word files you created and if you did a good job of using styles the work of conversion from Word to FrameMaker won't be that hard. Remember well done user manuals are never finished, they are just the initial version until the next product update!
If you really want to keep Word, Robohelp can convert your Word files to an html based help system as well.</on high horse>
Sorry if I'm not being more helpful. Maybe someone that uses Word extensively can comment on how Word can do all of the above without needing to resort to manual linking in Acrobat. It may actually be possible.

  • How do I scan multiple documents to a single pdf from the ADF on my MX922?

How do I scan multiple documents to a single pdf from the ADF on my MX922?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Riceburner1,
Since you have had difficulty scanning using My Image Garden, you can scan using the IJ Scan Utility program that also comes with the printer.  To do this, please follow these steps:
    1. Place the documents in the ADF or on the platen glass of the printer.
    2. Start the IJ Scan Utility.
        For Windows 8.1:
        1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key.
        2. Start typing IJ SCAN UTILITY. The search window opens as you type. Once the IJ SCAN UTILITY is displayed, please select and open it, then continue with Step 3 below.
        For Windows XP:
        1. Go to your START MENU, then select ALL PROGRAMS, then CANON UTILITIES, then the IJ SCAN UTILITY program.
        2. In the Canon IJ Scan Utility window that opens, click SETTINGS.... in the bottom right of the window. The Settings dialog box appears. Please continue with Step 3 below.
    3. In the Canon IJ Scan Utility window that opens, click SETTINGS.... in the bottom right of the window. The Settings dialog box appears.
    4. Click the DOCUMENT SCAN option on the left pane of the window. In the Select Source field of the Scan Options section, select DOCUMENT (ADF/PLATEN) to scan items placed directly on the platen glass, DOCUMENT (ADF SIMPLEX) to perform single-sided scanning from the ADF, or DOCUMENT (ADF DUPLEX) to perform double-sided scanning using the ADF. You can then set the item size, resolution, etc. in the Scan Options section as desired.
    5. In the SAVE SETTINGS section of the window, you will select the save format and location of the document you are about to scan.
a.) In the FILE NAME field, specify the name you would like to give the file. By default the filename will begin with IMG; you can remove IMG and change it to whatever you would like to name the file.  Please note that the filename that you give the document here will be the default filename for all items scanned until you change the file name.  If you leave the file name the same in the field, the scanned item will have a sequential number appended to the end of whatever name you give it.
b.) In the DATA FORMAT field, use the drop-down arrow to select the desired option. If you are scanning a multipage document, select the PDF (Multiple Pages) option.
c.) In the SAVE IN field, please navigate to the area where you would like the file to be saved once it is scanned in. By default, the file will be saved in the MY DOCUMENTS folder.
    6.  In the APPLICATION SETTINGS section of the window, please select the DO NOT START ANY APPLICATION option.
    7. Once all settings have been selected, click the OK button at the bottom of the SETTINGS (DOCUMENT SCAN) window. The IJ Scan Utility main screen appears.
    8. Click the DOCUMENT button. Scanning starts. Click the CANCEL button to cancel scanning if needed.   Once the scan is completed, scanned images are saved in the previously selected folder location specified in the SETTINGS... window.
    Hope this helps!

  • Double sided pdf printing

Is there a way to set up a pdf for double sided printing? I know how to do double sided printing directly out of InDesign, but I want to save my document in such a way so that I can have the printing done at an outside printing company. Is there a way to do this? Or must I save each page as a PDF and then try to align it? (Print one side, turn it over and then print the other PDF on the other side.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No. But you are asking the wrong question.
The decision to print duplex or simplex is a decision made at the time of printing the PDF, by the program and printer driver printing the PDF (and limited by the capabilities of the output device). Instruct your outside printing company to print double-sided, and they will do so, just as they will use the paper size and weight you request.
I do not believe there is a way to embed within a PDF a directive indicating that it ought to be printed double-sided, no. Certainly InDesign has no such way. Not do you need it. Communicate the information out-of-band.
