Printing Non-Work Intervals (Necking)

Hello,
I have enabled the Activity non-work intervals in the Bar Necking Settings within Bar Settings. Although the 'necks' appear on screen, they do not appear in a PDF printout or a regular print. Is there a setting or workaround for this issue?
Please advise.
Thanks!

AMA,
You've stumbled upon yet another P6 glitch. We use a couple of tricks to attempt to overcome problems like these.
1. Before printing, Move your cursor onto the right hand side of the screen (gantt chart) and scroll down the entire schedule..then select print preview & print.
2. Try increasing the row height on those "necked" activities.
3. Make sure that you have both "bar necking settings" checked within the "format bars" menu
FYI, we use the remaining bar located on row #1 to display our necked activities.....This seems to work for us when publishing in Adobe pdf formats.
Good luck,
Hope this helps

  • Adobe PDF won't print non-working time colour in MS Project

    Adobe PDF won't print the colour chosen for non-working times in MS Project.  I have tried changing the colour, changing the style, moving non-working time in front of tasks and have fiddled with the printer properties, all to no avail.  It ignores whatever style I have for non-working time and makes a blank space, although it will take gridline changes . . . . please help!

    Thank you for providing the suggestion and the Cleanup tools, however they did not help.
    I ran each version of the cleanup tool, and for each I had it clean up Reader and Acrobat (i.e. 4 separate cleanup operations).  I then rebooted the machine, and installed Reader 11.0.3.
    Still had the same behavior:  Reader will not print.  I tried printing to a second printer (that is attached via USB)...and it did not work either.  I also tried printing to a Cute PDF Writer print driver...and that did not work either.  In each case, no print data made it to the Windows print queue (as demonstrated by watching the queue while printing.)  No error was raised, but no print data was transmitted.
    I then uninstalled Reader 11.0.3, rebooted, and re-installed Reader 9:  printing works fine now.
    There is definitely something in Reader 10 and Reader 11 that breaks printing in some environments.    (As you alluded to...I have seen a number of postings online about printing problems in Reader.)
    More details about my environment:
    Windows 7 Professional N (Version 6.1, Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
    VMWare virtual machine
    Two virtual CPUs (each: Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67 GHz, 2673 Mhz, 1 core, 1 Logicial Processor)
    Hardware Abstraction Layer:  6.1.7601.17514
    RAM:  3096 (allocated to virtual machine)
    Bridged networking
    VMware host:

    18 Gig RAM
    Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @2.67 GHz

  • Cannot get Brother HL-2140 laser printer to work -- AT WIT'S END...

    Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me to get this printer to work -- I'm about at the point that I'm just ready to chuck the d*mn thing out the window!
    For the record, I'm trying to use it with a Dual 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 with 2 GB of memory, running System Version 10.5.6. And connection via USB.
    I CANNOT get it to print anything. Well, that's not COMPLETELY accurate -- I WAS able to get it to print a "printer settings" page by pushing the button on the printer. So obviously, it works. But ANYTHING sent from the computer -- no go. Every time, the print monitor or whatever it's called gives me a message saying "*Sending data failed!"*
    I have the latest driver downloaded from the Brother website. I have scoured the manual, the Brother website, and googled it, and have tried EVERY fix I've been able to find, save one (that I'm trying to avoid, for reasons I'll explain later). NONE of them have worked.
    There was a thread on here back in November, which I would've just posted on, but it's archived:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8507844&tstart=0
    I downloaded and tried the Print Therapy program that was mentioned in this thread -- it didn't help. The only thing I haven't tried is archiving and reinstalling, as was mentioned in the thread. I assume this means the system software, right? I REALLY don't want to do this, if I don't absolutely HAVE to. I have always bought Macs, because they just work. I don't want to "get under the hood" and tweak and tinker to get my computer to run better, or constantly have someone ELSE work on it when it's not working right, like many of my PC-owning friends have to. I don't run out and get the newest system software the instant it comes out, either -- instead of getting excited over new features and stuff, I generally tend more to get annoyed that I have to "relearn" or get used to the new ways things are set up or run or whatever. Anyway, when I got an iPhone a little over a year ago, I discovered after bringing it home that I had to go back to the Apple Store to buy Leopard -- because I couldn't activate the phone on my Mac (with old system software). So I did, installed it, and got a blue screen. That's it. Nothing else. I had to call Apple support and have someone talk me through going into the Terminal (which I didn't even know existed until that point) and enter a bunch of code. I felt like I was back in high school 20+ years ago, learning MS-DOS in computer class (which is why I didn't continue on with learning computer programming. Yuk. I discovered the Mac, and never looked back...). After about a half hour or so, we finally got it working. So my point after all that is that if I reinstall Leopard, I'm afraid I'll get just the blue screen again -- and I don't want to go through THAT again...
    In the thread, someone mentioned using Pacifist to install just parts of it. If I tried that, does anyone know exactly WHAT parts I would need to reinstall? Or does anyone even know if I'm at risk of getting the "blue screen" again, if I do either this OR a full install? Will it "reset" all that stuff I typed into the Terminal to the way it was when I first installed Leopard, or is whatever I changed in there now permanently changed?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    It's 95% sure to be a software problem - but...
    You need to start eliminating possibilities. Like, you need to try a different USB cable. You need to try the printer and cable on a different computer.
    Go to Blue Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info and check to be sure your Mac knows there's a Brother printer attached.
    Use your Apple Hardware Test CD (or maybe your model has that as a program on the original Install DVD) and run the test.

  • Windows Printer Share-Worked... now its not

    I have 7 computers, mac and PC that are all able to connect to a printer share except for 1 computer. The Lexmark T522 is connected via Serial to a Windows XP box that has standard printer sharing enabled. For months all the computers on the network could print fine to it fine. 2 days ago i installed the latest security update on our intel-imac... now it cannot connect to the printer.
    Was there something in the latest security update that messed up printing to windows printer shares?
    I go to printers and faxes, Add a printer(the other was deleted through my troubleshooting) I have to choose "more printers", and then have to choose our "workgroup (called workgroup)" I see the shared computers and select the one with the printer installed. I hit the "choose" button and get a request for username and password. I get after about 30 seconds "Unable to connect to server with provided username and password" "error 256" and an Okay button.
    NOTE: i can connect via the same method with all the other macs here at our house (none of them have been updated with the latest security update yet though).

    Hey, man.
    This started happening to me, too, right after I installed the latest security update. Suddenly I could no longer print to the Windows shared printer at work. Got the exact same error you got.
    Thankfully, the printer happens to be wireless and ethernet enabled, so we were able to work around it. But after 4 hours of total troubleshooting, we haven't been able to figure out how to print to it as a shared printer.
    Weird,

  • Upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6. IP Printing not working?

    Hello,
    I recently upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 Snow Leopard and as I knew, our Appletalk Printers no longer showed up. I knew this would be the case and tried adding the printers via IP. I've printed out the spec sheets from the printers to obtain the IP addresses. I entered them and from what I can tell, everything went fine. It said it was a valid IP and each of the printers showed up under the list of printers. When I went to print none of them work. It says it can't find it on the network. As a side note (or possibly the problem) when I found the printers via IP address, it did not put the name of the printer in the name field but the IP Address itself. Is this normal and can I change the name to the actual printer name OR should the printer name show up automatically?
    Here are the printers:
    HP Laserjet 5000
    Kyocera 5035
    Kyocera 1650
    Here is what I've tried:
    1. Software Update… until I could update no more.
    2. Updated all print drivers. Each of them show up in the "Select Printer Software" dropdown menu.
    3. Reset Printing System in the Print & Fax menu.
    4. Replaced the "CUPS" directory/older via this links instructions. http://www.gcsdblogs.org/roodhouse/?p=2349
    I am currently repairing permissions. Right now the estimated time is 2 HOURS. Incredibly long but maybe due to the upgrade??
    Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
    Randy

    Addition:
    The repair permissions/cup folder move I mentioned above did not work. I have now also tried changing the ownership of one of my kyorera files to "root" as mentioned in another post on here yet that did not work either.
    Thanks again for any help you can provide. I keep scouring these forums but have yet to find anything.

  • Adobe PDF Printer not working in Illustrator since 9.3.2 update.

    Greetings all,
    Since updating Acrobat Pro to 9.3.2 I've not been able to print to PDF from Illustrator using the Adobe PDF Printer (Adobe PDF 9.0 in my printer list).
    I've tried several restarts and have also removed the printer and run the Repair Acrobat Installation from the Help menu of Acrobat to reinstall the printer, but problem remains.
    I've also tried printing from other programs (namely Thunderbird, Firefox and Photoshop) and the printer has worked fine so I suspect this my be isolated to Illustrator.
    No error messages are given and the Illustrator print jobs are listed as Completed in the printer job list but no files are created.
    I've got a work-around, printing to Postscript file then converting to PDF in Distiller and it seems to be working fine, but not my ideal solution.
    I've checked for updates in Illustrator but none are available.
    System details:
    OS X 10.5.8 (MacBook Pro 15", around 2.5yrs old)
    Adobe Creative Suite CS 3, Acrobat Pro 9.3.2, Illustrator 13.0.2
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Dave

    I've never liked the Save As PDF option in Illustrator. Though the quality is excellent, in my experience it creates bloated PDFs that are often too big to email.
    Take for example the file that prompted my original post. If I print to PDF (or in this case use my workaround, creating a PS file, then converting to PDF in Distiller) using my Hi Rez preset, the final PDF is 648K. If I Save As PDF using the same preset, the final file is 5.5Mb! A ridiculous size for a CMYK flyer measuring just 134x70mm.
    The reason for the size increase is obvious when the big pdf is opened in Illustrator: all the bits and pieces outside the artboard and on hidden layers are all preserved. In reality, it's just the same as the original Illustrator file seeing as Illustrator's native AI format is pretty much a pdf in all but name only.
    Do you know of a way to use the Save As PDF command that eliminates the unwanted material and gets the file size down? That would really make my day!
    What I wish for is an Export To PDF command as found in InDesign. That seems to give the best of both worlds.

  • Windows 7 64bit adobe reader xi printer not working

    I have a Win7 64bit and installed Reader XI from Adobe.
    The reader does work, BUT the Adobe Printer hangs and eventually causes browser (both IE11 and Firefox) to stop responding.
    Googled fixes but none worked.
    Is there a way to JUST reinstall the Adobe Printer?
    Any other fixes that worked for you may help, just remember this is Win7 with all its restrictions.

    What Adobe printer do you mean? Adobe Reader does not install a printer.

  • What printer will work with Tiger nicely?

    I am just like the untold thousands who are having non-stop printing problems between my hp printer and Mac OS X.
    I used 10.3.9 and had non-stop printer problems. Did all the usual: uninstall, get latest driver, fix permissions, yada yada.
    I just upgraded to 10.4.5. I was SO looking forward to the many fixes that would inherently come along with a modern OS. Well...the computer sleeps now without crashing, that is nice. I like dashboard. Computer seems to run a bit smoother.
    Printer still won't work most of the time. Prints on occasion, locks up, sometimes pushing restart printing ad nauseum will help.
    Ok, I'm just gonna admist defeat after reading multiple posts on here, recognizing that OS X is bugged where many printers are concerned.
    Here's my question: I would like a printer that works. Any recommendations on a printer, color, laser, or otherwise, that prints without problems with OS X? Are there any printers that are recognized as basically compatible with OS X and don't have all these obvious problems?
    thanks
    PowerMac G4 1.42 duel   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    I'll gladly accept any help under one condition:
    it fixes the problem.
    Here's what I mean by that statement...
    so much of the workarounds I saw in posts where frustrating repeatable efforts; must be repeated to keep the printer working.
    I am just tired of dealing with it. If I can get some help to make it work, that would be great.
    If I have to do this and that every few days to keep it maintained and working, I will go ahead and make the darn thing work with my (dare I say it on here) PC. I'm about to the point of connecting the printer to the PC and just letting the apple sit without a printer. Seems blaspemous to me though...and a shame...he he
    Help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Displaying Non-Work time for all resources via a Calendar?

    I am looking for a way to display a calendar or a view of all resources that will show the planned vacation time for each resource based on the "non-work time" set in each resource calendar.

    Hi,
    As workaround solution, through P6 professional you can create a report with choosing
    "Resources" as subject Area and selecting "Time Distributed Data" option and,
    At "Time Intervals Field" you can select "Limit" to be distributed.
    This will give you a tabular report showing resource limit over selected period with selected intervals.

  • LinkedList - printing non-repeated occurrences

    I have to read some data from a file. Each line is in the following format: ID_number;Name;address.
    Store it and then print all the occurrences that are not repeated.
    If the file had the following lines:
    +12345;John;California+ <-- repeated ID
    +3243243;Marie;Mars+
    +12345;Jane;Madrid+ <--- repeated ID
    +4344444;Jill;US+
    I would print:
    +3243243;Marie;Mars+
    +4344444;Jill;US+
    Since I don't know how many lines the file has I was thinking about using a LinkedList to store the values
    instead of an array but I do not know of any efficient way to remove the repeated occurrences or just print
    the non-repeated.
    I'm quite new to Java. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

    This is how I did it. Works but I am not sure if it is the best way to do it.
    import java.util.LinkedList;
    public class TestFile {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              LinkedList<String> llist = new LinkedList<String>();

              llist.add("443324;sadasd;Asdasd");
              llist.add("12345;sGadasd;Asdd sd ssad");          // repeated
              String[] v = llist.toArray(new String[0]);          // LinkedList to Array
              boolean dupFound = false;
              // sets repeated occurrences to null
              for (int i = 0; i < v.length - 1; i++) {
                   dupFound = false;
                   if (v[i] != null) {
                        for (int j = i + 1; j < v.length; j++) {
                             if (v[j] != null && v.split(";")[0]
                             .equals(v[j].split(";")[0])) {
                                  v[j] = null;
                                  dupFound = true;
                        } //inner for

              for (int i = 0; i < v.length; i++)
                   if (v[i] != null)
                        System.out.println(v[i]);
         } //end main
    } //end classBeen reading about Sets through that link and the API. Still no clue of which path to
    follow. I'll try googling a bit to see if I can get enlighted.

    My Macbook Pro won't print with my HP Photosmart 7515. I get the following message, " Print file was not accepted" Printer does work with our PC?? Checked for software updates and are none. Talked with HP help and they say it's an Apple problem

    I noticed that you said you uninstalled the printer, but you didn't mention resetting the print system.  Resetting the print system will reset the drivers the Mac has installed and make them work like they should.  Give this a try and see if it gets the printer working like it should.  The document below will expalin more about doing this.
    Basic Printer Troubleshooting Steps for Mac
    If that doesn't help, see if you are using the AirPrint driver, or the printers driver.  By default 10.8 uses the AirPrint driver if the printer supports it, so I'm betting that's the driver you're using.  If it is, try using the driver for the printer itself.  To do this, access Print and Scan.  Click the + sign to add a new printer.  Select the printer from the list.  Click the dropdown next to Use and select the 7515's driver.  Let me know what happens.

    A                1          0         99

    A                8         60         65              6
    A                9          0         99              9Any help and inspiration would be much appreciated. But please don't get offended if I don't follow up the next 12-14 hrs.

    - Changed line 15 in hierarchial query

    Brillant as always, Frank. Ten points and mange tak for you.
    (1) What is your concept of "group" in this problem? In what sense do subcodes 5, 6 and 8 form a group? Is it that they share the quality of not overlapping with some other row with the same product? That is, will there be at most two groups per product: rows that overlap with every other row, and rows that don't?By group I mean, that when isolated from other subcodes, a group does not overlap. For product A, I have 10 different subcodes. In certain situations I'm allowed to consider 5,6 and 8 as one, since they don't overlap. In general the data presented results in 8 groups, 7 groups having 1 subcode, 1 group having 3 subcodes.
    (2) What you mean by "mutually disclosing"? Is it that the min_val to max_val ranges do not overlap?Yes. They are however allowed to be equal.
    As to your query. Seems you're right, it might actually be that "simple". I changed slightly, allowing >= and <=
    SQL> SELECT m.*,
      2         CASE
      3            WHEN
      4            EXISTS (
      5                     SELECT  NULL
      6                     FROM    t
      7                     WHERE   product = m.product
      8                     AND     (       min_val >= m.max_val
      9                             OR      max_val <= m.min_val
    10                             )
    11                   )
    12         THEN 1 END group_flag
    13    FROM t m;
    PRODUCT    SUBCODE    MIN_VAL    MAX_VAL GROUP_FLAG
    A                0          0         99
    A                1          0         99
    A                2         18         67
    A                3         20         65
    A                4          0         99
    A                5         45         60          1
    A                6         20         40          1
    A                7          0         99
    A                8         60         65          1
    A                9          0         99
    10 rows selected.
    SQL>
    This assumes that min_val <= max_val on each row.Your assumption is perfectly correct, as expessed in check constraint on table t.
    >
    The rest of this message concerns the CONNECT BY query you posted, in case you want to understand it better.
    When I run the CONNECT BY query you posted, I get these results:
    P    SUBCODE    MIN_VAL    MAX_VAL
    A          0          0         99
    A          1          0         99
    A          4          0         99
    A          5         45         60
    A          6         20         40
    A          7          0         99
    A          8         60         65
    A          9          0         99
    Ouch, my bad. Somehow I posted the wrong query. I have edited line 15 from
      15                    min_val >= prior min_valinto
      15                    min_val > prior min_val
    The START WITH clause includes all rows: you might as well not have a START WITH clause:
    10  start with -- This, start with, seems "clumpsy"
    11            min_val in (  select min_val
    12                            from t
    13                        group by product, subcode, min_val)
    That's great, somehow I was misled to believe that wew should always have a START WITH.
    Thank you for your remainding comments on hierarchial query. I'll definitely have to play around with it to fully understand. With the edit mentioned, and
    without a START WITH it now looks as,
    SQL>  select distinct -- This, distinct, bothers me!
      2                       product
      3                      ,subcode
      4                      ,min_val
      5                      ,max_val
      6         from t
      7        where connect_by_isleaf = 1 -- Why does this help me?
      8   connect by nocycle -- This, nocycle, really bothers me!
      9                      min_val > prior min_val
    10                  and max_val <= prior max_val
    11                  and product = prior product
    12                  and subcode <> prior subcode  -- Not necessary
    13     order by product
    14             ,subcode
    15             ,min_val
    16             ,max_val;
    PRODUCT    SUBCODE    MIN_VAL    MAX_VAL
    A                5         45         60
    A                6         20         40
    A                8         60         65
    3 rows selected.
    SQL>One final question. In your solution with EXISTS, you use < and >. In my rewritten example I use <= and >=. It seems that it still works, even without a condition on subcode != m.subcode in the subquery.
    Maybe I'm too tired by now, but why is that? - just don't get it

  • I would like to buy a HP printer that works with Windows 8 preview.

    Understand that HP will not release drivers for existing printers until August at earliest and that is OK....I have 3 HP Laserjet 1020s that have been great and will buy a new HP printer if it will work now with Windows 8 preview.  Any suggestions or any fixes/patches for 1020 that work.  Also interested in any non-HP printers that work with Windows 8 preview?  Prefer HP but will buy first printer that works from any mfg. as I would like to give Windows 8 a real try.   Believe HP is missing boat by not putting a patch out for some of their printers as soon as possible as I am not the only HP user looking to buy any printer that works with Windows 8.

    JohnW just posted this...should take care of your issue

    Hello jpihl1
    The product you have is a commercial printer. I suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a solution.
    You may find the Commercial Laserjet board here.
