Printing of books, calendars and cards is impossible

Hello,
I just discovered a big problem with iPhoto 7.1.1 (354). It is impossible to choose a book, calendar or card template. But everythin I shoul need is in the folder "iphoto" in the Library's "Application Support". What can I do?
Of course, I have made a new installation of iPhoto from the system CD, but this did not change anything.
I would really appreciate any help!
Sincerely
Peter Weber

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto application.
2 - delete the Themes folder in the User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder.
3 - delete all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
4 - reinstall iPhoto and update to the latest version, 7.1.1.
5 - repair disk permissions with Disk Utility. NOTE: could take up to 20 or more minutes as there's a problem/bug with this process in Leopard.
6 - launch iPhoto and try printing again.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto Freezing but ONLY when creating Books, Calendars or Cards.  Anyone know Why?

When I try to create a Book, Card or Calendar using iPhoto (version 9.1.5), the comp says "Loading" and my pointer keeps moving but it never comes up.  I haven't used this since last year and have no idea why it will not work now.

You can update from iPhoto 9.1.5 to 9.2.1 for no cost.
How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.

  • Calendars and Cards

iPhoto has the capability to Cards/Calendars....doesnt Aperture which is a more expensive product have this feature as well ?
If not can u download something to include it in Aperature or are their plans to expand it to include this ?

    yeah, not so much ...
don't know too many pros creating cutesy cards and calendars ... haven't seen any plugins for aperture that do it ... doubt that this would be in the works ...
you can use previews in aperture to work with images in iLife and iWork ...
that would be what i'd recommend you try ...

  • IPhoto Books, Calendars & Christmas Cards Discounts?

Does anyone know of any coupon codes for iPhoto products for December?

I order so many products from Apple and I have yet to see or receive a discount coupon. Now I'm getting ready to order eight books for clients and can't get a discount. This is kinda crazy from Apple. I can't even keep track of how much I've ordered over the past year, certainly an incredible amount to qualify for a discount. Is there a site that you find them, other than just a search. Does Apple typically send them out?

  • Can someone tell me if there is a way to sync address book, calendar and mail ONLY, no music from Itunes to Iphone 4s from my Imac G5, OS 10.5.8? I bought a 16 GB and have too much music and no icloud on my machine (or my ipod 5th gen)

I was told I CANNOT only sync part of my music from  my Imac Itunes, and since I have an ipod and itunes with the music, I don't really need it on my iphone, but if I sync all the rest, is it going to sync the music too! It is too much data if it does!!  And did Icloud take the place of "mobile me". If so can that be used to get some music if I want to from my hard drive mac or ipod?

You were told wrong. You can sync only what you want to sync.
Yes, iCloud is taking place of Mobile Me over time. MM will be turned off in June of next year.
With iCloud, you can store the music in the cloud and download the tracks that you want to listen to without having to sync to your iTunes.

  • Photo Books, Calendars, Cards

Considering moving to Aperture. Does it have the very simple online printing of books, calendars and cards as is found in iPhoto?
Looking at the manual I see more sophisticated ways of preparing books etc, but sometimes it is nice to just be simpler and quicker for family etc

Aperture doesn't seem to have any options to order calendars and cards; click here for the instructions with books and prints.

  • Ordering book, calendar, & prints in single order

I would like to order a book, calendar, and some prints through iphoto… how do I do so as 1 order? I would like to save some shipping costs. Also, are there ever discounts offered? While it was nice to not upload my pictures to another site, it is much more expensive than other alternatives I have used in teh past. Thanks!!

that is not available - only multiple copies of identical products can be ordered in a single order

  • How to print a monthly calendar with start and end times

    Hi,
I'm trying to print my monthly calendar and the times of the appointments do not show up.
    Am i missing something?

It looks like we're not alone in looking for this feature. I found 28 other posts to this forum alone asking for this functionality (dating back to August 2005).
I know Apple likes to be different and elegant with their apps, but until iCal adds this trivial feature, it's not an adequate replacement for even paper calendars.
Do the engineers in Cupertino not care how long their appointments last? Why not at least let users show the end time on appointments as an option in month view?
The most common advice in response to this post is to provide feedback here:

  • Can I print my ical calendar in a orientation other than landscape?

I like to print my monthly calendar and slip it into a monthly pocket divider in my binder that I normally take to meetings etc. Unfortunatley the ical calendar only seems to print in a landsape view that does not work well in binders. This has always been very frustrating  and because of it I have always used other calendars. I really would like to use my ical. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.

iCal doesn't offer you this option. You might like to consider BusyCal, which does:
It's like 'iCal Pro', with a lot of useful extra facilities: it uses the same database as iCal so for 'On My Mac' calendars it works immediately. It will also sync with MobileMe in the same way as iCal, though you will need to set it up separately. It's slightly cheaper in the Mac App Store than from their website.

  • Nice design: A bunch of calendar appointments that are impossible to delete

Where I used to work, we had an iCal server through which people could schedule meetings. Those appointments got synced to my phone.
I don't work there anymore, and I've deleted the "work" calendar off my system and synced. But my phone is still full of appointments from the deleted calendar, and it's impossible to delete them. Inexplicably, they lack "Delete" buttons. Look at this garbage:
    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2737/4417952891bda584cfcfo.png
    What gives?

If you are now syncing calendar events direct with iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes below the Advanced section, select Calendars for replace info on this iPhone. Select Apply followed by a sync.

  • Can't use the Calendar, Book, and Card functions

I have updated my iLife programs to iLife 08 and cannot use the Calendar, Book, and Card functions as the program says the themes have not been installed. However, after looking in the Library/Applications Support/iPhoto folder, the themes are there but not being recognized by the program. I have reinstalled iLife 08 but still to no avail. Help!

    Grant:
    Try the following:
    A. look for a folder title Themes in the User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. If you find one there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot.
If that doesn't jump start iPhoto then go on to B.
    B.
    Restoring iPhoto Themes
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete the Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder.
Also look in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there then delete it also.
5 - boot into the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
After installing reinstall the iPhoto 7.1.1 updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime, 7.3.
• I can't print my calendar, and I can't install the new Iphoto??

I can't print my calendar, I need to update my Iphoto. But I can't install the new Mac OS, I have the version 10.6.8 and my macbook is too old to deal my the latest one. What can I do to print my calendar If I can't install the new version of Iphoto?
    Please help me!
    Steve

My calendar is done in IPhoto, it's a project you can get done in Iphoto and It's printed by apple and ship to your door. Useful, but not anymore because that's the message I received one I send when I buy the calendar.
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but the ability to order books, cards, calendars and prints is no longer supported in iPhoto 7. Please upgrade to a newer version of iPhoto to order these products."
