Hi there Jim, aka @jknud , welcome to the forums
I understand you're looking to print CD/DVD labels to your Officejet 6500 Wireless, from your Mac.
There are normally third party software programs you can download to print out whichever brand of labels you are trying to print on. If you wish to let me know which type of labels you are using, I will see if I can find their support forums for you.
    Have a great Monday

  • Printer for DVD's

My Epson R200 just went bonkers and is printing my DVD's off-center. I tried to adjust the location with the dialog box they provide but to no avail.
I'm looking for a replacement... anybody have a suggestion for a reasonably priced inkjet printer for DVD's?

I am guessing the 220 for you behaved like my 200, jams, tray going back and forth "seeking" the proper positioning and having sometimes to reload the thing a dozen times, drivers acting really weird (most of the time had to take stuff over to an iBook to print in OS 9) and the rest.
And so far the 340 has been night and day compared to the 200, an absolute pleasure. Only have had it a couple of weeks (went out and bought it when I could not deal with the 200 anymore) but it works like a charm (touch wood). Almost picked up the 300, but decided on the 340.
Not much difference on price, and some of the extra features such as printing from card not a big deal, but it seemed more solid somehow. The tray does not get kicked out the back either, seems more supported.
The LCD monitor is a nice plus, shows ink levels and other info right there so you get a nice overview of what is happening with the printer. Was about $120 at Staples. Will be using it some more over the next few days and let you know how it behaves if you like. So far it does what I want, printing on proofer DVDs quickly and easily so I do not have to use the perma ink markers (which I resorted to when the R200 just drove me nuts.) Have not done much printing yet of images/art on the DVDs, may run some later to see how it does, though a quick look seems to have the prints in the same ballpark as the 200, not the same as replicated on disc printing, but more than adequate for the most part.
Last thing is I have it hooked up to the DP 2 Ghz Single Core, running OS 10.4.5.

  • Printing CD & DVD labels

Hi. Does anyone know how to print CD/DVD labels in Leopard? I Have Avery inkjet CD labels and I am hoping that I can print using Pages '08 or something. Avery's advertised software on the back of the package is not mac compatible. Do I need any type of software or is it built into the operating system. I have a Canon ip4000 printer.
    Thanks

Hello, I have a Canon ip4300 and it comes with CD-LabelPrint. You can download this software directly from Canon at no cost.
Seems to me it's compatible with all Pixma CD-printing-capable models.
I don't recall of any CD-printing utility built into Leopard.

  • ?recs for "best" airport-capable color printer that prints CD/DVDs &

Can anybody please recommend the "best" *reliably airport-wifi-capable* color printer, that can do all of this:
print CD/DVD imagery directly onto discs
    print great photos
    has a copier/scanner/fax
I honestly don't know if such a thing even exists? I know that I've had some printers that dont work with the airport which is what I want to avoid
    thanks

I've just upgraded my 7 year old Canon bubblejet. I purchased the new Canon MP960 which did everything I wanted it to do bar faxing but that wasn't that big an issue for me. The most important thing was that it would be compatible with OS X Leopard - which I will be upgrading to when available.
I ran it through airport with no issues - printing anyways. To use the utlities I'd have to connect direct to my powerbook...a bit of an inconvenience but not insurmountable because I don't have high scanning demands.
Prints photo's like a dream...so I thought I was in heaven. Until I started printing off hi-res art (from illustrator and InDesign)...and I experienced colour reproduction issues. We're not talking the variances you get between screen/bubblejet/offset....we're talking major variances. Even after ensuring the colours were CMYK hues there were still issues. One piece of art was even set using a combo of RGB and CMYK colours....the neighbours can still hear me laughing in frustration.
If I colorsynced I'd get one colour, used the printer drivers another, used "none" yet another colour. Tried various media types and even when using the same setting they would come up categorically different.
2 hours on the phone with Canon and they could offer no suggestions apart from taking it back to where I got it from. So I took it there...and spent another 3 hours with them. They were kind enough to open a new printer and test that one out on their powerbooks....yet the new printer was even worse with colour registration. To cut a long rant short, I got a refund, am currently printerless and would only recommend the MP960 if you were using it for photo's or where the accuracy of the colour was not that important (e.g. if you were using it for business purposes, and you wanted your logo to print out as accurately as possible, then I'd find another printer until Canon get their act together).
The amusing part - my "on it's last legs el-cheapo" Canon had no issues with reproducing the colours accurately.

  • MG5420 Won't print on DVD, it always prints on paper

    Hello,
I purchased the MG5420 a few days ago as an upgrade to an older Canon printer.  90% of my printing is on DVD's / BLU Rays.  I got one to print, and that was all.  Now, whenever I try to print on a DVD, it always starts printing to paper.  From the pretty bad My Garden software (which I just downloaded the newest version), there is no option to choose paper size J or the disc as a media.
And to top it off, I have tried 3 third party DVD printing software, and they can't print properely on this printer.
Help please...I just want to print on DVD's.  I don't care if it never prints on any other media.

  • Print on dvd using Canon mx922

I am trying to print on dvd using Canon mx922.  Canon software (image garden and photprint ex) do not recognize printer using iMac running 10.7 and macbook air running 10.8.  Canon has no solution and referred me to Apple.  Anyone have a workaround? Any other software to try?
    Thanks.

When you select to add the printer and you see the little pop-up window under the plus button with a heading of Nearby Printers, don't select the MX. Instead, click on Add Printer or Scanner. Then with the Default Add printer window displayed, you should see the MX. It will show something like Bonjour Multifunction in the Kind column. Don't select this one. Instead wait several more seconds and you should see a second MX appear, this one showing Canon IJ Network in the Kind column. Select this and the Mac will state that it needs to get the supporting driver from Apple. Agree to this and after the driver has downloaded, you will have your alternate driver installed and ready to use.

  • C5550 locked in print cd/dvd mode

    hp c5550 on Vista
I was trying to print a DVD and now my printer always wants to do that and must be manually reset every time to provide general printing. It always comes up wanting another cd/dvd. I have reset preferences, printer, everything I can find that has anything to do with printing the c5550 and nothing seems to work. I can always reset it manually to accomplish printing but must do that every time I want to print. It's locked in 'print cd/dvd' mode. I am now at the point of uninstalling the print driver and reinstalling it. Still, I would like to know what I did so if it happens again I can fix if right.

Problem solved. Typical windows tangle. Since I usually use a Mac I'm not as agile with windows problems.

    Hi bobbiedean,
Please let me take a moment to say "Welcome Back" to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue printing on CD's/ DVD's.
This can be sometimes be related to a power issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Are you getting any error messages when attempting to print on the disk?
Please feel free to write me back at any time.
    Thank you.

As I mentioned in the other thread what are the settings in the print window? What paper size do you set and then what Preset is used. Although I an using a different printer I have to select A paper before the CD/DVD preset is available to be selected. There may be some association between the paper size selected and the photo missing the disk.

  • How to print a DVD label

Is there an app nternal to the wireless officejet that helps print DVD labels?

Try File>Export>Using QuickTime Conversion. An export window appears.

You can select Options.. if you wish to change the file type from the default PNG.
You can control the destination folder as required. Use the centre part of the export window to navigate to the selected folder.

  • Using Illustrator CS5 to design for printing on DVDs

When using a DVD/CD template to do a design to print onto a DVD/CD even though the template shows the circular shapes of both the outer circumfrance and the central hole etc if I paste a square design onto the circular template the design is not restricted to the printable area of the DVD. How do I achive a design that is just printed onto the printable are of the disk?

You would have to assign the circles as a clipping mask... It's irrelevant, though, beyond providing a visula guide for placment of elements. For commercial replication they will use their own masks or require you to use their templates/ specifications; for homeprinting you will have to use your printers dedicated DVD/ CD label printing software and/or whatever sticky labels paper you use and they have all the circles you need built-in...

  • Printing to DVD Disk From Photoshop and Other Apps

I have Sure Thing disk labeling software and Photoshop CC that I use to create labels. There doesn't seem to be any presets for using this specific printer to work with DVD disks. How do I get the info for this printer into the other apps so that they show up as choices in the print settings? Your user manual gives NO information on this. What settings should I use?
For example, in the Photoshop print settings, when I select the Pro-100 as the printer it shows a print preview window that is inaccurate. It shows a 5.95" x 12.6" document with the print design in the center vertically and horizontally. But, the DVD is not in the center of the print tray. It is about 2/3rd of the way up and slightly to the left. The computer needs to know the exact position settings so that it prints where it's supposed to.
In the Sure Thing software, the presets do not even list this printer. It seems when you install the printer driver software, that all of that information should be installed into any apps that use the printer. The same goes for the DVD case inserts.

Applications don't have printer specific information -- all of that is part of the printer driver provided by the printer manufacturer.
You need to contact your printer maker and work with them to determine why their driver is not providing the necessary information to the OS and Photoshop.

  • Printing on DVD's/clear spray to avoid smudging

Does anyone have any experience with this concept? I remember a thread about some sort of spray that you put on the DVD after you've printed the picture/logo/whatever on it. Unfortunately I can't find that thread. What spray is it? Does it work well? Anyone have any nightmare stories about it?

Those look like a nice option, but they're about 3x more expensive.
You can get a 100 spindle of top-brand (Taiyo Yuden) DVD-Rs for about 30 bucks. The spray is Krylon, available in hobby and craft stores.
Spray it evenly in sweeping strokes, like you're using a paint gun. Let it dry about an hour, then repeat.
The trick is, put your pre-burned DVD in a jewel case bottom. The case will protect the data side from the spray.
