Printing on lan printer

Hi,
Can a Adobe central output be printed on a network printer or the printer has to be connected to machine where central is installed, can someone please help with the setting required for same in ".jmd" file.
Thanks,

On a Windows system you just use the UNC address for the printer.
\\ServerName\PrinterName

Turn of the MG and unplug the power cord. Leave it off for about a minute and then reconnect the power cord and turn the power back on. Wait while the device attempts to reconnect to your wireless network - the blue wifi symbol on the MG will flash and then stay on once it has connected. If it keeps flashing then you will have to reconnect the MG to your wireless access point via the control panel on the MG.

    Hi Clark
There is a good chance the printer is just getting auto IP internally..
Plug it into your TC. And then set to dhcp via the controls on the printer.
If you know the name of the printer it should be immediately available to the network.. but anyway, you can find its IP by printing out the test page. That will also give you the network name.
Most later HP printers have web access to the print servers.. just type the ip into your browser and see if it comes up.
From the Mac, you should then be able to set it up via the printer preferences. Most HP will just appear.. but if not you should perhaps delete the local version and then check again for network printers.

  • MacBook does not see LAN Printer

I have a Macbook connected by airport to a LAN.  It sees the internet but not the LAN printer. The Printer, Canon PRIXMA MX 700, is conected to the LAN by eithernet as well as a PC desktop with XP. The MAC dropped seeing the printer after working fine.  Ihave down loaded new Canon drivers, used the Canon network tool and tried to match the printer IP address to the MAC.  Nothing works

I presume you're working with a home set-up and that your DHCP server is also your wi-fi router.  All wi-fi router's are different and their configuration utilities differ.  You need to login to the router with the admin account and look for the DHCP server config page.  If it's not obvious look for local network config or LAN config and it should be under that.   What you need to do is set the start address and end address for the DHCP server range.  Presumably the router is 192.168.0.1 so you need to set the start address to 192.168.0.2.  You have set the printer to 192.168.0.50 so set the end address to 192.168.0.49.  That gives you 48 addresses in the range which should be more than enough for a home set-up.  In fact, for security purposes, I would set the end address to the number of devices you want to connect, plus one.  So, if you have let's say three computers and an iPhone that's four devices to connect to the network so set the end address to 192.168.0.5.  That will go at least some way to limiting any rogue users getting into your network tho' you should have WPA2 encryption enabled too.  But I believe in a belt-and-braces approach to security!

  • Recently bought airport Extreme and have connected the device to the modem. WIFI works. However when I connect the LAN port to a switch I do not see the LAN printer and my NAS. Which setting do I miss?

I have installed my Airport Extreme and have conencted it directly to a modem. WIFI works fine. However I do not see my LAN network (printer. NAS,..).
    Analysis:
Scen#1: When I connect the LAN port of the Airport Extreme to a switch (as input) and connect the other LAN devices also to the switch, those LAN devices do not have access to the internet. Also connecting the iPAD with WIFI to the Airport Extreme I cannot find my LAN printer and other devices.
Scen#2: When I connect the LAN port of the Airport Extreme to a router X (as input) and connect the router X to the same switch, and the LAN devices to the switch, those LAN devices do have access to the internet. Also connecting the iPAD with WIFI to the router X I can find my LAN printer and other devices in the LAN network.
Question what has impacted the behaviour of the Airport Extreme, not to detect the devices in the LAN network. Why is the use of a switch directly behind the Airport Extreme not working (no internet access for the other devices and Airport Extreme is not the basis station for the LAN network)?

Your scenario #1 is a correct configuration and should work. It seems as though your Extreme is not acting as a router as I believe you intend.
Most likely, you need to reset your modem. Power it down and let it rest for a few moments. Some need longer than others. Then, I recommend you "hard reset" your Extreme (see below) and configure it again, after the modem has been reset. From then on do not change what is connected to your modem without powering it down first.
Once configured, confirm your Extreme's wireless network works as expected and that your iPad and every other wireless device can load web pages. Then, connect the printer directly to one of the Extreme's LAN ports and confirm that it works as well. After that it should work equally well with a switch between it and the Extreme, as should every other wired device connected to the switch. This assumes your switch is an unmanaged device requiring no specific configuration.
Scenario #2: Having a router connected downstream of another is not a normal configuration, so don't pursue that as a solution. It will only distract you from determining the problem. If you want to repurpose Router X as another device do so only after everything else is working to your satisfaction.
To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then press and hold its tiny reset button and keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

  • Problem printing to networked printer

I have a strange printing problem:
    13" unibody MacBook running OS X 10.6.3
Dell dimension desktop PC running Win XP Home Edition (SP3)
Wireless LAN connecting the two computers above via Time Capsule wireless base station.
Canon Pixma MP540 printer connected to PC via USB.
Printer set up on PC as shared and visible to MacBook over wireless LAN.
Printing from PC to printer OK.
Printing from MacBook to printer places job in print queue on PC but status never changes from 'spooling' and print job never completes.
If I connect the printer directly to the MacBook via USB it prints with no problems. I can also then see the printer as a network printer from the PC and successfully print to it from there.
Can anyone suggest why the job never completes when the printer is attached to the PC?
    Thanks, Ian

I'm having the exact same problem! It's so annoying

  • Can I use Airport Express for printing and Ethernet printing at same time?

I've been trying to set up a couple of laser printers that were given to me recently. The printers are Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS and Samsung CLP-510. The reason I'd like to have both up and running is because the black toner for the Samsung costs twice as much as the toner for the LaserWriter. I have two questions that I am hoping someone will be able to answer.
    1) The CLP prints a test page just fine. I was finally able to get the Samsung printing while directly connected to my PowerBook G4 via usb (I had to install a Xerox Phaser 6100 driver to do so!). Today I tried putting the usb into my Airport Express (which I use for my portable internet and airtunes) and now the printer does not respond. When I try to add the CLP as a bonjour printer, I get an error adding the printer and the printer does not respond. Can someone offer some advice as to how and if the CLP may work via the Airport Express?
    2) The LaserWriter prints a test page just fine. I purchased a transceiver (albeit not an Apple transceiver - this one says Asante Friendlynet, the guy I bought it from said it would work though). The transceiver is connected to the Ethernet port on the printer - and I have a yellow ethernet cable (?) running from the transceiver to the ethernet port on my computer. I read somewhere on the internet that I need to turn on Appletalk in order to use the printer via ethernet but when I went into my network settings to do that, there was a warning that I could not turn on appletalk for ethernet without forsaking my airport. Can someone offer some advice as to how and if the 16/600 PS may work via ethernet without disrupting my (working) airport express? Also - I did not receive any software or drivers with this printer but I read that I may not need to (they come with Tiger - ?) Is anyone able to confirm this?
Any help would be TOTALLY appreciated!
    Leigh-Ann

Hello Kappy! Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question.
I should update you at this point to say that I can add the 16/600 PS printer through a process that I found called 'Direct IP printing over ethernet'. (I think I've done this correctly - but I honestly have no idea about network stuff). Here's what I did:
-went into system prefs and looked at the network settings under built-in ethernet tab. Under TCP-IP I found the IP address of my network host.
-In the Printer Setup Utility I tried to manually add the 16/600 PS printer. In the Printer Browser window, I selected IP Printer.
-Under IP printer, I selected LPD Protocol. I inserted the IP address copied from my network settings (above) in the address bar. In the Queue bar I typed in the name of the printer 'Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS'.
-Again in the Printer Browser box I gave the printer a name and location. Finally, in the 'print using' box I selected Apple and then chose the model from the drop down list. 'Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS fax v.2014.016'
-I got a dialogue box that asked about other installable features - clicked ok.
-when I tried to print a Word document, the Apple LaserWriter driver opened up and appeared in my dock and then I got an immediate error saying "network host ---.---.--.--- is busy, down, or unreachable..."
-I tried to repair permissions, but it did not resolve my issue.
-I noticed that even after adding the 16/600, it did not show up as a bonjour printer, but remained visible as a printer in my list (although grayed out).
I did some troubleshooting and the best I could find as a close match for my problem was that perhaps I had entered the name incorrectly in the Queue box...? If anyone knows how to find the appropriate name to insert I would sure appreciate knowing.
Finally - you should probably know that I received this printer from someone else. I guess I'm wondering if I need to be resetting network settings on the printer somehow? The test page lists the following:
    Ethernet (Address: 08:00:07:84:78:e9)
    EtherTalk: PostScript
    NetWare: AutoSelect
    TCP/IP: AutoSelect
    IP address: 0.0.0.0
And - now finally, to answer your questions (the best I can, that is)
I did connect the yellow network cable directly into my laptop (right side, 4th input, counting away from me). I have a portable internet modem that plugs into my wall (for power) and then has a cable (Ethernet?) that goes into my Airport Express (LAN port?). I have no other router and there are no other inputs or outputs on my modem. My Airport Express has only one input for the modem, one mini input for airtunes, and one usb input (in which I have a cable connecting to my other laser printer (now working wirelessly via Airport Express!!)
Should I have these cables hooked up differently?
What is a Phonenet adaptor? My internet is provided via a cable service (not DSL). It is wireless and portable - I can take it to any major city in Canada and it works as long as it is plugged into a power source and near a window.
I really appreciate any help you can offer. At this point I must have spent the better part of almost two weeks trying to get these older laser printers up and running.
    Thank you again.

  • Can I Use My SmartPhone App to Print When the Printer is Wired?

    Hello--
I just bought the HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw for my home and have it networked via a wired connection.
I think I know the answer to this, but just want to double check. I believe the printer has to be connected to my wireless network in order for me to print from my Android, and I believe the only way to use the wireless features of the printer is if I unplug the wired network connection.
Is that correct? If there is a way for me to use both, can you let me know?
    Thank you,
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Since your Android devices do not have ports to connect to a printer therefore you need your printer on a wireless network BUT you can connect printer using LAN cable to a wireless network as shown:

I have a windows 7 laptop and a HP 8500 officejet fax....my printer has stopped printing again....I have disconnected everything and it still won't print.

How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, or Wireless LAN?  Are there any error messages?

  • Hp printer 6820 not printing via Windows 8

The printer was initially setup with the wizard on the Desktop. All other systems can print include two Apple Mac laptops, a Windows 7 laptop,  iphones, android based phone and tablet.
On the Windows 8 desktop, the system worked and then stopped working. That is becomes unavailable in Windows 8 and goes offline.  The printer has a host name. I used the HP web access page to connect to the printer and change the name and it works for a while, i.e. the printer is back online in Windows 8. The router appears to use a different name. The HP 6820 printer seems to pickup the name from the router. Changed the name on the router to the name I want and now the printer cannot be reached from desktop.  All other operating systems print just fine to the printer but not windows 8
    Any clue?

Your HP Printer will acquire its LAN address via DHCP (from a range of IP Addresses) OR
a Specific IP Address (Static, Assigned IP) from your home (or office) Router.
The printer's Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) connection will have an IP address AND
if you have a wired Ethernet port (like 6830) that will be another IP address.
My Preferred Method (Best Practice) is to Configure the Home Router (Administration) to Assign Static IP Addresses to the Home Network (LAN) Printer. Most Router setup screens will use the Ethernet MAC Address (port) to properly assign IP Address to each port.
In this way, you don't have to worry about "reassigned" IP addresses for the printer, due to LAN changes, or during reboots of the router.

  • CUPS: Printing to remote printer

    Hi,
I need help with setting printer using CUPS.
I have laser printer (that supports only PCL) connected to one of LAN computers.
This computer has Fedora Core 5 Linux with CUPS.
Linux and Windows computers are printing to that printer without any problems.
I would like print to that printer from Solaris 10 computer that has CUPS.
I have access to remote printer using:
    http://localhost:631/admin
and can watch it's jobs and print test pages.
I downloaded suitable PPD file for the printer and put it to:
    /opt/sfw/cups/share/cups/model
    and executed command:
    /opt/sfw/cups/sbin/lpadmin -p le232 -E -v ipp://10.0.0.201:631/printers/e232 -m Lexmark-Optra_E-hpijs.ppd
Now I see this printer on:
    http://localhost:631/printers
After I tryed to print a test page, printer status changed:
    Description: le232
    Location:
    Printer State: stopped, accepting jobs.
"Print file was not accepted (client-error-bad-request)!"
    Device URI: http://10.0.0.201:631/printers/e232
    Whats wrong?
What should I do to solve this problem?
    Thank you.

    I found solution on: www.lengers.com/?p=12
    That works.
But now I have a new problem: instead page what I sent, it prints some junk text (it's probably PostScript).
I added printer using lpadmin command and use it with lp command.
maybe should I use lpr command?
I user the same *ppd file as on Fedora Core 5 print server and there it prints correctly.
Do I need some kind of convertor or filter (my printer understands only PCL)?
    Thank you.

  • Cannot print to any printer, or to pdf, from any program

I have successfully installed 2 different printers (Canon iRC2880 and Epson DBAA77) but when I choose to print to either, or to PDF in any program a dialogue box says that it can not print due to an 'unknown problem'. I have deleted and re-installed printers and I have tried all the stages here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3140
    including the reset printer system

Hopefully some of this may help:
    Tutorial: Resolving common printer problems
Mac OS X offers a robust printing system with built-in support for hundreds of devices from a wide body of manufacturers. It's not without flaws, however, and printers often become unrecognized or non-functional after a significant Mac OS X update. Printers connected through hubs or AirPort base stations can also exhibit some frustrating issues.
Below is a run-down of the most generally successful printer workarounds. Keep trying until one of them sticks.
Use Printer Setup Repair This tool lets you verify properties of the root user, the Printing Services (lp) user, and Print Operators (lp) groups, reset the printing system, perform CUPS maintenance and more. Run through its set of maintenance tasks before delving into further printer troubleshooting.
See how to use it in this article.
Re-install CUPS If you are experiencing printer issues after applying an incremental Mac OS X update, problems may have occurred with your CUPS installation during the update process.
The file is available from this Web site: http://www.cups.org/software.php, and you should use the latest file with a .dmg extension.
Delete then re-add printers/Reset printing system Open Printer Setup Utility, located in Applications/Utilities and look at the "Printer List" Highlight and delete all entries.
Alternatively, go to the "Printer Setup Utility" menu at the top of the screen and select "Reset Printing System".
Click the "Add" button and re-add your printer(s).
Gutenprint and usbtb Some users have been able to resolve printer communication issues by installing the excellent open-source Epson printer drivers available as part of the Gutenprint package (formerly known as Gimp-print) and usbtb, a CUPS back-end for USB printing.
Remove non-required drivers Removing extraneous drivers from /Library/Printers(name of manufacturer) can sometimes resolve printer issues. Remove files that are for other models than your own.
Re-install drivers Re-installation of printer drivers from original media or from a Web download (either directly through the manufacturers site or via a search by model/manufacturer on VersionTracker) can resolve some printer issues.
Try disconnecting from network In some cases, LAN-connected printer, seemingly broken by the Mac OS X update can restored to normal operation by simply disconnecting the device from the network then re-connecting it.
"Communicator Error" -- try power cycling If you receive a "Communication Error" message when attempting to print after updating to Mac OS X 10.4.5, the first workaround you should try is power cycling the printer, as well as disconnecting then re-connecting it to the Mac.
Connecting directly to the Mac If you are having printer problems and are using an external USB hub, try connecting the printer directly to your Mac.
One reader who had success with this method writes:
"Unfortunately the update to Mac OS X 10.4.6 has eliminated the ability to use my Lexmark Z600 series USB printer on my iMac G5 20" iSight (rev C).
"I resolved the problem via the following: I unplugged my external USB hub and plugged the printer directly to my computer."
Disconnect from AirPort and reset For those who are using printers connected to an AirPort Express, Extreme or another wireless device with USB connections, you might want to try the following:
    1. Disconnect the printer from the AirPort unit (or other router)
    2. Wait a few minutes
    3. Plug it back in
    4. Restart the base station unit
    5. Check for your printer to appear in AirPort Admin Utility (located in Applications/Utilities)
Print one copy In some cases, using print one copy instead of the standard print command can result in elimination of crashes that occur during printing.
Try IP printing instead of AppleTalk Some Macs are unable to see AppleTalk printers that are located on the local AirPort (or other wireless) network. Several users have been able to workaround this issue by using IP printing instead of AppleTalk. Delete .plist files Though this workaround will erasing current printer settings, try deleting the following files from ~/Library/Preferences:
    • com.apple.print.custompresets.plist
    • com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist
    • com.apple.print.PrinterProxy.plist
    • com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist
    • com.apple.print.favorites.plist
then re-establishing your printer in Printer Setup Utility (located in /Applications/Utilities/ by clicking the "Add..." button and following the on-screen steps.
Re-apply combo updater Try re-applying the current version of the Mac OS X combination updater, available from Apple's download page. Certain printer-related components can be damaged during the Mac OS X update process, or otherwise, and re-installing the combo updater may replace these faulty parts.
Last resort -- Archive and Install As a last resort, try performing the somewhat tedious Archive and Install process, then re-upgrading to the current version of Mac OS X.
