Printing on network printers

My iPad doesn't recognize the canon MF3240 connected to the Belkin router network. Can anyone help?

Ram108-
Contact Canon to see if they have an iPad App that will allow use of their printer.  I find that some companies claim iPad/iPhone compatibility, but the fine print requires use of their special App.
Other options include Print n Share and Printopia.

  • Need helping printing to networked printers.

I need help setting up network printers that have a code on them for each individual. There is no place to put a code so the printer will know who is printing what. I have installed 3 printers and they will not print, they just go to a paused mode and when you hit resume in reverts back to pause because it is looking for a code. I have tried it another way but it asks for a user name and password and all we have are codes. The workplace is using a windows based server and the copiers are listed as followed.

I need help to be able to print from my mac. I also have parallels running with xp installed and all the printers are installed on that side and printing fine. Hopefully someone can help me out.
    Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
In order to provide the user with the ability to input a user code, the respective printer driver would have to provide the facility. If this feature did exist on a previous version of OS X, then you may have to check the vendors web site to see if there is a driver for 10.6.
If you are not sure if the function was supported previously, then go through all the user menus for the driver. The function may be present but located in an unusual location. Or it could require an additional file (aka plugin) that could be missing from the driver installation or not compatible with 10.6.
The other thing to note is that if you have the Mac's printing via a Windows queue, you will have to provide user credentials for SMB print queues. This is typically a Windows user account - not the Mac's account details. If you don't want to create accounts for the Mac users on the Windows server, then you can use LPD rather than SMB to connect to the Windows queues. This does require UNIX Printing Services to be enabled on the server.

  • Is anyone having issues with printing to network printers with 10.8.4?

I have upgraded our schools to Mountain Lion. Ever since the beginning of the year we have had issues with network printers. They are all HP printers, when they go to sleep a user has to turn off the printer and turn it back on then resend the print job. Now users are being asked to put a password itno the Print Operator group. This never happened before. Cups is changing the queue names to MCX_1 or 2 etc. Not keeping the queue name. All these people are in WGM and have printers set for their group. So I have reset the printer settings on the machines, then restart relog in and get the list of printers they can print too and within 1 day they are unable to print. I am trying my very best to get this issue fixed and all solutions have been exausted. So without having to go to every computer and going into the Ldadmin group thru a terminal, is there anything that anyone has done to fix this issue with out visiting every computer. Thank you.

The printers failing to wake from sleep is an issue. A print request should be waking them.
You have not mentioned what printer server is involved. I could assume it is OS X Server since you mentoned WGM, but it would be nice to have you confirm this. Then I can start to suggest some actions.

  • Problems printing to network printers from Mac OS X 10.6.2

I have three network printers connected to my Mac by IPAddress. When I send any print job except a PDF to any of the printers I get 20 copies of my document. This is true no matter what application I am trying to print from, including printing a test page from the printer settings. I have reset the printing system by [Control] clicking in the Printers list box. I have tried different drivers, including the Generic print driver. All printers HP printers. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Same issue on my WRT610N V2. I am using iMac Intel running 10.6.2. Error -36 prompted when copying files to the USB share disk from the Finder. Working fine when on PC running XP.
Another issue is DDNS can't report the router IP to DynDNS.com although it status that the update is successful and completed. After updated, the router's IP is still different to the IP shown on the DynDNS.com. I need to type the IP manually to the DynDNS.com
Hope the new firmware would fix these problems.
    Thanks

I can't seem to get any better error reporting than that. I've tried resetting the print system, re-adding all the printers, and adding the printers as generic Postscript instead of a specific printer. Any thoughts on where to go from here?

Also if someone can help me, how to run a linux command in java, aside from using Runtime.getRuntime().exec() command.. I need it very soon, so please help me.... God bless..

Also if someone can help me, how to run a linux command in java, aside from using Runtime.getRuntime().exec() commandFor a beginner, that's the best solution. The alternative is Java Native Interface (JNI) which is fraught with difficulty.

  • Troubles printing with networked printers

I have a printer connected to a Mac Mini (with Leopard installed) and am trying to send something to print from my G5. The computer sees the printer but it always comes back saying "com.apple.print.recoverable-warning". Apparently it is having trouble communicating with the printer. The computers are connected through a wireless connection using a airport extreme base station. The printer is physically connected to the Mini since the usb has a external drive connected to it. There are no problems printing from the Mini but only when trying to do it from another computer on the network.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    D.J.

I get the same message (com.apple.print.recoverable-warning), but my printer is on, plugged in to a USB hub which is plugged into the TC. I've re-started the printer, plugged it directly into the TC USB port, added it as a new TC printer to my printer list and selected it, but no change. I'm about to give up on shared printing with the TC and just plug the printer back into one of my Macs.
Anyone have any other ideas? (Despite high hopes, the new Airport Utility update did nothing for me.)

  • Printing to network printers

I am having an issue where I can print from every other program except Illustrator CS3. The printer I am having an issue with is a HP Laserjet 5100. I am able to print to a Xerox Phaser 7400DT with out issue. Any suggestions?

We had the same problem with the same printer. So far we have discovered that it can be font related in Illustrator CS3. (MacOs 10.4.11) because:
    - It is with documents with certain fonts that will not print.
    - Making a new text block with the same font and deleting the former text block will print.
    - Printing the same document from another computer will print.
    - Printing the same font from a different application (Freehand) will print.
Finally we decided to download the latest driver and PPD file from HP website for this printer model and so far it seems to have solved the problem. At least with the document we had problems with.
    Hope this helps.

  • Printing to network printer and pdf

    Hi,
At my office I have a Canon, Oki and HP printer's to connect to the network, how I can configured the iPad to use does printer's ? I need to add app to my iPad ? What is the best app for that ? And I need to print/convert web pages ... to PDF too.
    Thanks,
    JProveta

    JProveta-
Apps on the iPad that can print to network printers have their own mail, text, photo and web browser. Therefore they do not enable printing from the iPad's other Apps. The only solution I know of is to run a program on a nearby computer that shares a network printer over WiFi as an AirPrint printer. Printopia is one example for a Macintosh computer.
What you really want is for the iPad to work like a laptop computer, which it is not. Something like the small MacBook Air or a "netbook" computer may be better for your use.

  • Cannot print to network printer

Can anyone else print to network printers on build 9879?
I can detect and install my network printers just fine. At the end of the install I checked the box to print a test page. The page disappeared from the print queue, but never printed. I try to send another text page and I get an error
"Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?"
Of course the troubleshooter doesn't find anything. There are no errors in the Windows event logs. I have tried two different printers both of which work fine from any other computers on the same network. They are both HP printers. One is an HP OfficeJet
Pro 8610 and the other is an HP Color Laserjet M451dn. Both have drivers included in Windows 10.

    Hi DS62,
Please download the latest driver file from official website:
HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&product=5367608
Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
Or you can add driver manually:
    Alex Zhao
    TechNet Community Support
    Just my 2cents worth.
With that link from Alex you still need to choose the Windows version.
I guess the newest one is Windows 8.1 and the correct architecture ie 32 bit or 64 bit.
    Regards,
    Richard
What did you break today ? on second thoughts don't tell me, let me guess.

  • Can no longer print on any network printers or on printer wired to USB

I changed the printer to "Select printer"  save as PDF
since then i can no longer print to any printer on network
also I tried to connect a printer direct to usb. still no luck.
I have tried to update software
I have tried to select different printer on network
I believe the problem is in a setting that automatically changed when I selected "Save as PDF" as one of the printers.
there are so many tabs and locations on this system I just don't know where to start

First thing to try is go into your system preferences using the little apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Go to printers  an see if your printer is listed there. Go through the settings looking for something that would lock it to acting like a PDF exporter all the time. Sometimes the printer utility will have a "Print Test Page Option".
Installing some software, like Adobe, will also install dummy printer drivers that show up as "PDF Printers" in the Printers listing. This could be set as the default printer, but shouldn't stop you from selecting a different printer at print time.
If all else fails, you could try removing all he printers from your System Preferences, then reinstalling your current printer with default setups after restarting the computer. When it sees the "new" device it should start the install process like it did the first time. If you are not comfortable doing that, better to wait for better help or you could end up being worse off than you are now.
I too print to PDF often by selecting the option at the bottom of the print page. But it doesn't lock into that mode. It prints to the printer by default.
    Good luck.

  • I have a new Macbook pro and need to run some Windows software, it appears "Parallel" should work well from what I've have read. Will I have any issues or problems accessing and printing from various printers on my Windows 7 network within Parallel?

I have a new Macbook pro and need to run some Windows software, it appears "Parallel" should work well from what I've have read. Will I have any issues or problems accessing and printing from various printers on my Windows 7 network within Parallel? Is Parallel in fact the best way to go?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Both my network printers stopped printing

I have two officejet pro 8600 printers in my home. Suddenly both are not available from any laptop or mac on the network. This issue is not isolated to a single laptop or printer. The printers are online and have an IP address. However, if I type the IP address into a browser, it can't be found. If I use the "Update IP Address" Feature and run a search, it fails. I am definitely on the same network.  I can still email docs to my hpeprint addresses. Please advise....

Power off all printers and router. Power on router and wait 3 mins. Now power on the printers and wait until they connect to your router, verify. Now try.

  • Unable to print to HP printers, networked or USB

Please help if you can. I have a user here who can only print to one printer, its networked and a Toshiba printer. All others, be it networked or local via USB seem to spool but nothing comes out of the printer. The only thing in common are that they are all HP. Any ideas please .
The local USB printer is a HP LJ 1320 and the networked ones are HP LJ 4050.
In the printer setup control panel you can see the printer saying that its directly attached via USB and if you go to the log of printed jobs the are all there, just havent been printed

You're on a Mountain Lion forum, but your post above says you're runnijng Snow Leopard.   Hmmm....
I will assume you're running Mountain Lion.  Here's the troubleshooter:

  • C7280 AIO won't print over network. Was working on WiFi, still works on USB.

My AIO quit printing over the network after 2 years of service. The USB port still prints OK. My Linksys utility still sees the printer, and I even get ink levels back, but print jobs are hung up in the queue with status 'Error - Printing'.  I tried a wired ethernet connection and got the same result, so it's not a wireless problem, but rather networking in general. The network report indicates everything is normal, but I still can't print. I re-installed the driver but that didn't work.
I am running Vista, and the printer had been working fine till two weeks ago. My wife would use the USB port to print, and she said she got updates for the printer. HP doesn't distribute f/w updates for the printers themselves, does it? It's as if the networking f/w in the printer got hammered.

    No joy.
I'm connected with Ethernet port. I have disabled the firewall. The IP address matches on the printer's network status report, and on the Printer dialog box on the computer. I can see that the printer is connected when I run a Linksys utility. I can get the ink levels and I can print an alignment page.
But I can't print a document. About 60 seconds after I initiate the print job, the status changes from 'Printing' to Error - Printing'.
I clearly have connectivity, but something is preventing me from sending a document. Any ideas to try, or tests to run?
I think the same behavior occurs in wireless mode, but I think I have a better chance with a wired connection right now. As I said, USB works OK.
    Thanks,
    SWW
