Printing on Transparency Paper with a Mac.

Printing on Transparency Paper with a Mac.
Hi there
I am having issues printing to transparency paper with my Mac.
I am using a Epson DX5000 ink jet printer, with ink jet transparency paper.
I've created my design at 600dpi (a little bit overkill I guess you could say).
What I am doing is creating/printing (none coloured) black images that are then displayed using a projector.
My problem is that I don't think enough ink is being printed onto the transparency paper and so when its displayed on to a wall you can see through the black ink too much and also the ink all looks cracked.
This maybe also possibly caused by the fact that with ink jet transparency paper you print on the one side that has a rough type feel to it, that must have some kind of coating so that the ink dries on it correctly and doesnt just smear.
here's a little image of what I mean.
As you will see the image just isnt clear enough and light leaks through the black.
You are only actually supposed to be able to see anything thats white. So thats only the white text around the outside and the white images in the middle. (this is a little hard to explain as of course a printer doesnt print white, what its actually doing it NOT printing the white sections at all, so this is where the light shines through)
Ive tried numerous print settings when printing from Adobe Acrobat
Print>Printer>Print Settings
Media Type setting are:-
Plain papers
Epson Matt
Epson Ultra Glossy
Epson Premium Glossy
Epson Premium Semi Gloss
Epson Glossy
Envelope
Color settting are:-
Color
Black
Print Quality setting (More and less appear depending on what type of paper you say you are using) are:-
Fast Economy
Economy
Draft
Normal
Fine
Super Fine
Photo
Best Photo
Photo RPM
I assume that Photo RPM is the best setting and to be honest I'm not really sure which type of paper to choose?
Ive tried many different settings, Ive tried printing in just Black, but that doesnt put out enough ink, I then tried printing in colour (even though my designs are just in black), it definitely produced on a page more ink, but still not enough.
Does anyone have any suggestions here at all, I'm all out of ideas?
thanks

Use an image editing application to create a pure black and white image with maximum contrast, painting in where needed in the black area to produce maximum black.
This is how I have already created them.
In the printer driver settings set:
colour settings option:   print in Greyscale not in colour mode
Greyscale option is not available, but I can just print in black, which does not cover enough.
paper or media settings option choose:   Transparency
There is no option for Transparency paper

  • Page truncated when printing a transparent color with Windows 2000

    Hi,
We use the JDK 1.5.0_11 in a Windows 2000 SP4 platform with 2GB of RAM.
When printing a transparent color on a large page with a Windows 2000 platform,
    - The printed page is unexpectedly truncated (the bottom of the page is not printed) or
    - Even worse, the operating system crashes with a blue screen.
Notice that we neither have any exception thrown nor any log written !
Notice that this problem never occurs with a Windows XP platform !
The problem can be reproduced as follows:
    1. Run the sample below,
    2. The "Page Setup" dialog is opened,
    3. Select a large paper size such as A2 or A1,
    4. Press the "Ok" button,
    5. The "Print" dialog is opened,
    6. Select a printer which can handle this paper size,
    7. Press the "Ok" button,
    8. The printed page is unexpectedly either truncated or the operating system crashes.
If you do not have a printer handling such large paper sizes,
the problem can still be reproduced using the latest version of "PDFCreator".
Could anybody provide us with some hints ?
Thank you very much for your help ...

Very simple. I cannot choose the photo tray in any way and I cannot print on photo paper.
I get everything on A4 format.
The printer is working fine wih other software (e.g. HP studio).
    I can't believe I'm the only one.
    Please help!

    Hi,
I came across such issues using AirPrint from Mac OS.. probably an Airprint bug.
Go to Print & Scan and click the plus sign.
From the extended add a printer dialog select the Photosmart 7520.
Open the Use drop-down and select the HP Photosmart 7520 from teh list (Instead the default AirPrint option)
Additionally from the iPhoto print dialog click Print, the OS print dialog will appear.
Set the Paper Source as Photo Tray under the Paper Type/Quality menu.

  • 8600 printer sitting on idle with my Mac

I have an HP Officejet 8600 Plus printer. Up until yesterday, my printer worked fine with my Mac. I have it set up wirelessly. Today, I cannot print from my mac and the status of the printer says idle. I have been through a dozen forum questions and solutions; deleted the printer on my computer, reloaded the drivers, downloaded new drivers, unplugged and reset both my computer and my printer and nothing works. The printer works fine with all other PC computers printing wirelessly in our home, so the problem must be with my Mac, although nothing has changed on my Mac since yesterday. UGH!!!

    Hi jenh22222,
Sorry that did not work for you, still have a couple ideas.
What happens when you try the USB Setup of Wireless under a new user account? OS X Yosemite: Set up users on your Mac.
It is also possible the issue could be with your router, as this person has experienced in this post, Re: HP Product Support using Apple Software Updates for new OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Another solution is to print a network configuration page, Printing a Network Configuration Page. Find your printer's IP address, and enter it in Safari's Address Bar on the Mac. It will take you to the Embedded Web Server. Select the Network tab, then Bonjour, and then Bonjour highest priority service, and set it to port 9100.
If those options do not work, and it is not a router issue, then I would contact Apple Support.
Hope this information is helpful, and have a nice day!

  • LaserJet 1020 Printer will not communicate with my Mac. Any suggestions?

When I test of try to print anything, the Mac shows a print complete, but the printer doesnt print.

I'm on a Windows 7 right now so can't give you anything further, not being on the same OS. Portable Devices should be showing and is not with your 8.1 system or Mass Storage. The driver to recognize the phone comes from Microsoft not the phone or Verizon as most people think. I'd do a internet search on the Samsung 5 with Windows 8.1 or perhaps someone may show up with info. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • My Epson Printer has stopped working with my Mac Air

I have asked Epson for support but they keep telling me the obvious about deleting the printer via settings and reinstalling again. There have been several updates from Epson at the same time so there is obviously a problem but this is getting ridiculous now. Has anyone had the same problem and how have you sorted it out.
My Epson is Office Stylus BX635FWD.
    Thanks

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system  also Yosemite
Is the printer attached to the computer or is it a network printer?

  • Is one brand of printer better doing photo work on Macs than the others?

    Hi,
I'm still having issues with trying to print photos. Text is fine - photos are an endless source of frustration.
The only program that I seem to have that will allow for printing one sheet of photo paper with 4 different photos on it is PhotoShop Elements. But its print program is telling me that my prints may not be as good because my printer isn't a "PostScript" printer. It's right, my prints are awful. When I pull up my info about my Mac and look at the printer info, it lists a version of PostScript [version (3010.000) 705] so it must be a PostScript printer - but the computer or PhotoShop isn't picking up on that.
I have an Epson Stylus Photo RX620 all in one. A tech guy at Apple told me that all in ones can be touchy.
Those of you who do photo work; Have you found that there is a brand of printer that works better with your Mac? Should I get a photo printer and scanner seperately, instead of the all in one?
I have old photos and slides that I'm wanting to work with so I need the scanner.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Pearl

  • Using Lexmark X8350 with a mac.

This morning, I recently discovered that this Lexmark Printer will not work with a mac. I need help. Any open-source programs I can use?

Hi, I don't think so, it seems it's what they call a "Windows Printer", which to save money has minimal stuff in it & requires built-in Windows® function to make the print, not sure though.
    This page says PC/Mac...

I can't find any Mac drivers at all, the only possible way I see of using it is maybe to print a PDF or such to a Memory Card (CompactFlash I & II, SmartMedia Card, Sony Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Secure Digital (SD) Card, MultiMediaCard (MMC), Microdrive, and put that in the Printer to see if it'll recognise it.

  • D110A says pause all of a sudden. Using with my mac mini.

Don't know how to get it to work again.  Thanks so much for any help.

    Hey @Mybabes67 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your HP Photosmart e-All-in-One D110a Printer is showing as 'offline' on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer and fails to respond for you. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. Now on the Mac OS X 10.10 Operating System HP actually doesn't have a downloadable Full Feature Software and Driver download available for your model of printer. Therefore, we are reyling on the Apple Updates in order to load the driver functionality for your HP Photosmart. Can I please have you follow the steps below to get your HP printer up and running again for you.
    Step 1: Uninstall Drivers:
To start, please click here to access the steps on how to properly uninstall the Software and Driver Package for your printer. Once the website opens select the dropdown for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as the steps are the same for your Mac OS X 10.10 Operating System. Please follow the steps on Resetting the Print System (Method one) and Uninstalling the Printer Software (Method Two). Once the reset and uninstall have completed successfully, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 4: Manually Load HP Driver Package:
Please click here to access the Apple page for the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 package. Select the Download button when the website opens. Follow any onscreen prompts to complete the installation of the driver package.
Once the driver package has been loaded successfully, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 5: Add The Printer:
    1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
    2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
    3. Do the following, depending on if the printer is listed or not:
If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication with the Mac. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
    4. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that you select the HP Photosmart driver and not the Apple AirPrint driver.
    5. Click Add to add the bonjour printer to the list.
    6. Close Print & Scan
Now that your printer is successfully added in, please try to print again to verify that your printer issue has been resolved.

How do you print pictures on 4x6 HP Photopaper using the HP8620 printer? I can't believe there are no instructions in the 30 language manual the comes with it. I've loaded the paper with the shiney side down, the paper feeds, but I get "Paper type Mismatch" error.
Right now I'm trying to print with Picasa. I had no problem on my HP C309g printer.

    @Raskolnyki
Good news,  you can "add" a form for the 4X6 or 4X6.5 (tabbed) paper size.
The basic instructions are already available for the printer, though not where you'd expect:
Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X
I created a new 4X6.5in form so I could use my 4X6 inch tabbed photo  paper in my new printer.   The printer was throwing "paper mismatch" errors at the 4X6 form.
The examples to create the form are included in this document:
    Printing Preferences
    See Section titled:
    Custom Paper Sizes

    Hi,
Selecting "Allow Adobe to install updates" option enables your system to download and install updates automatically. This recommended option provides the best protection for your system as the update happens backend and you are always on with the latest version. Hi there Dave, aka @dewanio , welcome back
I saw that you are looking to print off a configuration page.
The printer itself will print a test page however, the model depends on how it will print. Let me know which printer you have and I will get back to you!

  • When I replaced my PC desktop with a Mac Mini and hooked up my HP printer to it, I discovered my other computers on the Wi-Fi network could no longer access the printer.  The manual says Maverick OS will not allow PC's to access the printer. Any thoughts?

When I replaced my PC desktop with a Mac Mini and hooked up my HP printer to it, I discovered that my other computers on the Wi-Fi network could no longer access the printer.  The manual says Maverick OS will not allow PC's to share the printer. Does anyone else have this problem?  My printer does not have on-board Wi-Fi but, otherwise, works fine.  I shouldn't have to buy a new one.  Is there a OS patch out there that would open the printer port for my PC computers?

I'm assuming that on the Mac, the System Preferences -> Sharing -> Printer Sharing -> [X] HP printer -> Everyone can print is selected?  That is to say, the Mac will allow anyone to print using the printer, and that you did not try to restrict who can print.
How is your network configured?  Bonjour as a protocol will NOT cross a router boundary.  If you have 2 or more subnets active with the PCs on one subnet and the Mac on another, that would block the PCs from seeing the Mac.
You could have multiple subnets if you have more than one router, such as an ISP provided broadband modem/router and another WiFi Router.  If the PCs are talking to one router and the Mac is talking to another, that could be a 2 subnet situation.  The additional routers must be put into bridge mode, which is done differently depending on the router.  But the basics are to diable DHCP and NAT services on the secondary router(s) having just one active router on the network.
Also, using Bonjour Browser on my Mac, it is showing me that the printer is being advertised as using Internet Printing Protocol, so if that is something selectable on Windows, maybe you can bypass Bonjour on Windows.
