Printing or workarounds

I have just forwarded a message string to my Evernote Upload account. I believe I can then print the notes from my computer, or leave as an electronic record in the cloud. Any thoughts of other ways to do this with messages?

Joe, <br /> You Said
''It's strange I never saw the cutting off 1st line issue until most recent versions. I do a lot of selection printing - in Vista x64. Never had a problem. Upgraded Fx & suddenly I have same issue others complained about for well > a yr. ''
'' John - what exactly do you mean <br /> You could run the regression testing your self on your machine to see what results you get.''
''I understand the words, but no idea where / what you mean. Where is this & is there documentation how to test it?''
===mozregression===
Mozregression is a little utility for semi automated testing to find a regression range.
* documented here <br/> http://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/
Once installed it has simple commands allowing you to bisect a range of dates looking for a bug. It takes care of installing and starting the particular versions in a discrete separate location and profile. Allows you to do what you wish i.e. run whatever test-case. And then asks whether the result is good or bad. Eventually it reaches the exact spot of the change and will give a result saying what the last good and first bad build was.
Because this is tested on Nightly versions developers know exactly what code changes were made between the versions, and there will be less changes in maybe a single day, than the six weeks between full releases.
It makes it easier for the developers to discover the significant change.
===Firefox Version===
''Yes, I could install older Fx versions. If they stopped the problem, what good would that do? Unless it is an about config setting or something user accessible, won't help w/ current version. What are you proposing there? ''
It may help anyone dealing with a bug to know which version of Firefox is affected. It helps you determine if it is the same bug as others are discussing.
For that reason if you do look at a bug report it is a good idea to look up the ''test case'' defining that problem and try it yourself.

  • Print Function Workaround

    Hi everyone,
I'd like to see some upgrade to allow LR's Print Module to interact properly with ALL printer drivers. Prints are dull or have a heavy majenta cast despite proper colibration of monitor and using correct printer profiles.
I understand that LR has a new and different print protocol (upgraded or completely new design from any previous) that does not interact well with some print drivers.
LR is a fantastic workflow tool with some powerful funtions but not being able to produce an acceptable print is disappointing.
    Thanks!

I posted this link in another thread on the LR forum about CS3 printing problems that Adobe has addressed.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/photoshop/ts/documents/kb402846/PhotoshopPrintingNotes.pdf
I just looked at it again and noticed some common problems under the "Issues Fixed in this Release" as follows:
"Color matching is now correct on BPE printers (notably the Epson 3800) when Photoshop is set to handle color management."
"BPE Printers expect a Profile to be passed when Photoshop manages color. Photoshop now passes the Profile."
"Epson 2400 driver no longer does double color profiling when PS is handling the color management and we explicitly turn off Epson color management in the Print dialog."
"Color management will now produce identical results on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs."
"Correct Page Setup now comes up in the Print dialog when you change printers to print different documents."
"Page Setup would sometimes show the preferences for a previously selected printer."
"RGB to CMYK conversion with a specific ICC profile and Adobe(ACE) engine is fixed."
"Specific types of ICC profiles were being incorrectly converted. Converted images would appear close to black, if not entirely black."
These appear to be the same issues that are happening in LR that require a similar fix that CS3 required.

  • How can I adjust the entire table in the middle of the file before printing?

I had a file and want to print it out.
But the margin seems a little bit strange, and I want to move the whole table into the very middle of the paper ready for printing (as A4 size).
Is there any one who knows how to deal with this issue?

The Hp L7680 doesn't support ePrint so you would not be able to create an ePrint email address. If you are trying to print to your printer a workaround you can try is using the ePrint mobile app. I will include links to both for Android and Apple devices.

How can I add header on printing with Numbers? The previous version use to have it and I cannot find it in the new one ...

    Hi Tanya,
Glad to hear that you found how to edit page headers and footers in Numbers 3.2. I agree that Help in Numbers 3 is woeful. No searchable PDF to download and use offline. All is online (one page at a time) and we need to know the terms we are looking for before we look.

For printing to paper where layout is important, I use Numbers '09 (Numbers 2.3) with its Print View. But it is orphanware. As the name suggests, there has not been a major overhaul since 2009. With that in mind, it is a useful version to hang onto while we hope and wait (and provide feedback to Apple) for something in future versions of Numbers 3.x to provide better layout capability.
Indeed, each new update of Numbers 3.x has restored more of the old features while adding new features that are enhancements over Numbers '09. Many of the Numbers 3 enhancements reflect long-awaited wishes through this forum, and were passed on by Numbers Feedback to Apple. So it seems that Apple does take heed of feedback.
In the meantime, I enjoy the charm of Numbers '09 whilst exploring the new features of Numbers 3.

Some workarounds are no longer needed, but what amazes me is how many Numbers '09 features (the so-called "lost" features) were not lost; the settings have simply been moved. Moreover, many features such as margin settings carry over with a Numbers '09 document or template into Numbers 3.

  • Fuzziness when printing with laser

When printing a document to a Konica Minolta Magicolor 5670EN using Pages 5.2 (1860) (and Pages 09 with a previous MacPro using Leopard) the output is fuzzy, as if anti-aliasing is turned on. If I save the document as a pdf file, then print it, the result is pin-sharp output. Am I missing a simple 'turn off anti-aliasing' somewhere in Pages?
    RSS157

There is no anti-aliasing configuration in either Pages version.
Direct application printing may cause translation of native Pages document markup through the PCL6 page description language, rather than the Postscript Level 3 engine that would be invoked when printing from PDF.
Konica Minolta has indicated that the Print dialog for some applications in OS X 10.9 may have advanced printing options inaccessible until compatibility drivers are provided. Many of these advanced options can however be set through the Printer Features submenu. There is a link to a PDF entitled, printer driver workaround documentation, that details this functionality. This page also suggests that OS X 10.9 and Windows 8.1 drivers are not yet available.
KM released four new v1.3.1 Postscript drivers explicitly for OS X 10.9 in March. I would apply these and revisit your print quality issues.
In addition to potential printer settings/driver issues, Pages v5.2 is a relatively immature and buggy release of Pages. It is entirely possible that it can be the source, or collaborator in your print fuzziness. Do you normally have the printer setup to do Pantone color match?
I see no update or compatibility page for the PageScope administrative applications for this printer.

Numbers has never had Page Breaks. The Numbers approach is to have several tables, each with a purpose. For example, an input table, a number crunching table, and a "Presentation" table to summarise results.
If your quotation runs to six pages, perhaps you could have 6 tables designed so that each fits within a layout guide:
    Layout Guide for Numbers
Option 2, if you previously had Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) it now lives in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. It works just as well as it used to, and has a proper Print View.
Option 3, copy and paste your table to Pages where I believe the layout is easier to arrange (maybe).

  • Custom size manual feed?

Why do envelopes default to a manual feed, but custom sizes pull from the main paper tray? Can you change which feed type the custom size defaults to?
I have a Lexmark E234n mono laser printer which works just fine. I like to print odd sized stuff, though, like bank deposit slips, envelopes and index cards. Usually, I call up a #10 envelope in Page Setup, and format my page to stay within the actual paper. When I print, the printer defaults to the manual feed slot, and patiently waits for me to insert the envelope.
Today, I got the bright idea to create a custom paper size for 4x6 index cards. Pages formats the page fine, of course. But, when I print, it pulls from the main tray instead of waiting for a manual feed.
Logically, wouldn't most people who make a custom size use the manual feed slot? That is the input method for irregularly shaped items after all, and the main tray is usually filled with normal sized paper.
Any printer-fooling workarounds would be much appreciated!
    rcarbaugh

    Peter:
The "where to print" dialog takes place in the print menu, not the page setup. So, even in a template, the print dialog follows the last file printed, rather than any data in the template.
There are a couple of ways to make it happen, but they are "workarounds" for the issue. I can do that, of course; I have been using workarounds since my Mac Plus. The answer I am looking for is why does the printer know when you select an envelope page setup, but not when you select a 4x6 card setup. There is a difference in the page setup, and I would like access to it, if possible.
You may be right, though, about it being in the driver from the printer mfr. If that is the case, there is probably not much hope for a complete solution. It used to do it in my GCC laser, too, if I recall correctly.
    Thanks.

  • Can't upgrade v2.5 to v3.1 - how do I do it?

    Hi
I am having a common issue opening a file from which I edited in v3.1 but now want to open on my laptop which has Numbers v2.5..
I am happy and willing to upgrade but can't work out how to do it... nothing is picked up in Updates, I can;t get anything from the App Store (paid or otherwise) .. what am I doing wrong?
    Grateful for any help!
    Rgds
    Lindsay

    Hi Lindsay,
Numbers 3.x has lost some features that were useful in Numbers 2.3. In particular, Print View has gone. Some users find that is a pain and I agree. There are workarounds:
Try Alignment Guides and Rulers as suggested here:
    Print View workarounds
Numbers has never had Page Breaks. The Numbers approach is to have several tables, each with a purpose. For example, an input table, a number crunching table, and a "Presentation" table to summarise results.
If your document runs to several pages, perhaps you could have several small tables designed so that each fits within a layout guide:
    Layout Guide for Numbers
Or move the non-essential tables to other sheets and don't print them.
When I must have Print View because I need precise arrangement before printing, I Export to Numbers '09 (Numbers 2.3) and arrange my document.
I enjoy using both Numbers 2.3 and Numbers 3.1 because each has its own charm. Numbers 3.1 has added features:

  • Teststand automatic test report printing using LabView workaround

I tried the LabView workaround for the automatic printing of test reports in TestStand (see email message below).
It will work if I set the URL to a specific HTML TempReport.  However, TestStand is configured to generate a unique test report for each UUT.  So, in the test report directory there are xml reports and the occasional HTML report, example TestReport_00104.html.  Not sure then what to set the URL to?
Note:  Your reference number is included in the Subject field of this message.  It is very important that you do not remove or modify this reference number, or your message may be returned to you.
    Hi Bill,
    Thanks you for your reply.
Right ok. Well, if you are interested in the LabVIEW workaround, I can send this to place it in your modified sequential model.
The workaround works as desired. It does it all automatically. I have set it to not prompt the user for the print dialogue but this can be easily changed. Therefore, for any example program in Teststand, if it is based on the modified sequential model, an HTML style report will be printed on the default printer automatically.
It needs to be placed in the following location:
Within the Sequential Model, within 'Single Pass>>Print Report' do the following:
    - Replace all the 'Main' steps (Navigate to HTML, Print HTML File & Close IE Browser) with the LabVIEW function call.
    - This one function call will do all the steps above at once.
NOTE: In the LabVIEW VI, you will need to select the correct directory where the new html files are being created. Otherwise the print function will not work. This is called URL. Make you sure you have checked this.
For ease of understanding I have included these steps in a word document with screen shots.
As I do not know which version of LabVIEW you might have, I have attached three versions of the .vi file; 2012, 2011 and 2010.
In regards to the mention of Teststand not having built in functionality for automatic printing of reports, unfortunately this is the case.
I hope this will be a sufficient workaround for you.
If you problems implementing this solution, please ask me for further information. However, it should be fairly simple to do.
Just to inform you, I will be out of the office from 12.45pm today for the rest of the week on annual leave.
I will be back in the office on Monday 14th January 2013, should you have any further queries.

    Hi Bill,
    I managed to implement this.
In the sequential model I added a LabVIEW action after 'Add Root Tags To XML Report'
As URL I use a sequence local: Locals.ReportFilePath
I points to the ML report in my case and then the VI works fine.
However I'm looking for extra functionality and that is waiting untill printing is completed.
Can you help me on that ?

  • ICal printing bug and workaround

    iCal 8.0 (2026) OS X 10.10 French
When I try to print a calendar and in my iCal preferences "start week on" is set to monday, the printed calendar starts with tuesday
and when I try to print a calendar and in my iCal preferences "start week on" is set to sunday, the printed calendar starts with monday.
In my case, to set "start week on" to sunday is a workaround.
    Thanks for reading me.
    Best regards and cheers.

This issue is driving me nuts. Apple doesn't seem to care. I reported the issue to Apple the day Yosimite was released and a fix has not been in any of the updates.
Note also that the calendar does not print correctly from iCloud in weekly view.
Another issue is that you cannot print the date of the printing of the calendar. Often I print several calendars a week and by Sunday I don't know what is the latest copy printed. I have asked them to fix that as well.
