Printing out of CS5 on Epson R3000 prints light cyan and grey background
I have an Imac with Mountain Lion, CS5 and have just replaced my Epson R2400 with an R3000. Now the white background round the image is covered in small cyan and light grey dots. If the image fills the paper, then the margin is affected. But when trying to proof colours I am going through loads of paper as I cannot now print a smaller image on a larger piece of paper, then re-feed the same sheet through with another small image as the paper is now pale blue.
The R2400 was fine for proofing, as the image alone would print and then the printer fed through the remainder of the sheet without printing, leaving the rest of the paper white.
I understand that there was a problem with this previously (CS5 on Epson 7900. However the discussion thread stopped after November 2011.I understood from that , that it was most likely a Photoshop issue and some sort of conflict with the Paper profiles. But, I have checked the profiles on my Mac and they are all version 2 profiles. I note that the few profiles that do work without the blue colour do have 'bkpt' in their profiling and that the ones for the paper I actually do use and in fact the majority of the profiles, do not contain 'bkpt'.
Has this problem been rectified at all? Please will you tell me how to do it? I appreciate all the help I can get.
If unchecking the scene-referred profiles box clears the display problem in Photoshop, you most likely have hit a known bug with defective monitor profiling packages building defective monitor profiles that affect Photoshop and After Effects — specifically, the defective profile is erroneously marked as "scene referred."
Version 4 ICC Profiles: If your are using v4 printing profiles, try Googling for more information...some symptoms of this bug are Photoshop prints a light cyan or blue in the page white areas. The Fix is to use Version 2 printer profiles.
there is another old known issue that has to do with trying to Hard Proof simulate press conditions (printing cyan in whites) but i am not sure what you are trying and i can't recall it right now
if those aren't it upload these screenshots of your workflow:

In my iTunes store, the printing is white and the background is black and I have forgotten how to change it back to black printing on a white background? I know that it is a simple answer, but right now I cannot think of it.
Also, what is the "other" when you are syncing an ipad in itunes and in my case the other is more than half of my 64Gb. How do I find out what it is and then get rid of it if I want to?
ThanksHi gramie47,
Sorry to hear that didn't resolve the issue.
I checked online for issues printing from the Internet, found a couple of things you can try. Most likely it is a setting that needs to be changed in the browser settings, since the printer prints fine from the computer.
From Internet Explorer, go to File, Page setup, Remove check from "Printer background color and images" if checked, or vise versa, to see if that helps.
Here is another document you may take a look at.

Kyocera 3035 prints grey background in Mail & Safari
After upgrading to Snow Leopard, whenever I print with Mail, a grey background appears in the message portion.
With Safari, the entire document has a grey background.
Printing from other programs is unaffected.
I am printing to a Kyocera CS-3035 using Snow Leopard's built in KM3040EE.PPD driver v8.4After the update to 7.1 it will not be. I did my 5 and set the transparency off and it is not as greyed but it is no longer translucent/transparent as before the update. now it is as same as the 5S i have.

I'm trying to print a gallery wrap image on an Epson R3000 printer using 13" wide Epson roll canvas. Every time I select "Manage Custom Sizes" in the printer's dialogue window, Photoshop CS5 crashes. I've been using Photoshop software for more than 15 years with a variety of Epson printers including Stylus Pro 7600 and this problem has never occurred previously. I can't seem to find a solution. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance!
That means that there is a bug in your Epson printer driver.
Please contact Epson for updates to their printer driver software. -
Using Photoshop CS6 and after printing approx. 10 cards on an Epson R3000 printer the program gives me a dialog box saying "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." Even after closing and reopening the program, the print command is greyed out so I cannot select any printer. This also happens with a Brother laser printer. Both printers will produce a test page out side of the Adobe product. Help!
I cannot get any help either. I get the message "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." I have reinstalled all drivers, powered off/on all printers (2 of them - a Brother HL - 4040cn and an Epson Stylus Pro 7890 - which all worked fine until this morning). There appears to be no path to a solution. I have read all the forums and tried about 20 different suggestions all to no avail. Reboots, changing cables, reinstalling printers and drivers and Photoshop CS6 - ALL TO NO AVAIL. On a macbook pro retina with 10.10.3. This issue is out there and some get solutions - but not all - that's my crowd...the not all crowd. I have yet to be able to print from CS6 any more. This is a show stopper and my patience is wearing thin. And I'm tired of stupid questions like "is your printer powered on?" give me a break. This appears to be an adobe photoshop cs6 problem - as I can print from every other application. Anyone have any ideas? Adobe should have something?... Adobe system info below:

Printing 11.7 X 16.5 with Epson R3000
I am trying to print out photos on 11.7 X 16.5 photo paper on an Epson R3000. The aperture software does not have this option and when I put it in custom it does not print correctly. I have tried changing from portrait to landscape, using 11 X 17 and many other things to no avail....
Thank you in advance for any help...Thanks so MUCH!!! I earned my GOOFUS dunce cap for that one....

HT1338 my Epson R3000 will not load printer paper
Hi, my Epson R3000 will not load printing paper and say's there is communication error, has any one had this problem? , thanks
Yes, 90% of the time I try to print something I get that error, and have been gettign that error for years, since the days of OS X Leopard. I have been pausing/resuming each printer to get it to start transferring files again, or, sometimes it won't work and I have to go through the wifi setup again, or unplug cat5 cable and plug it back in, or power cycle the printer if on USB.
I contacted Epson, and as you most likely know, they have no qualified personnel. They got me throuhg the obvious steps like removing the drivers, re-installing them (I actually did a find / -name "*epson*" and removed everything I found), rebooting the router (poor thing has nothing to do with it, it's working fine otherwise), swapping cat5 cables, usb cables.
I have 3 of these R3000 printers and they all exhibit the same issues. All of my other printers connected to the same computer/router/wifi do not exhibit this issue. I have Artisan 50 (usb), the 1400 (usb), and 3 Artisan 835s (wifi).
The things I hate most about Epson and its printers are the following:
- they come with 0 support form Epson. If you know what find . -name is, you're already more qualified than any CS rep that's going to answer
- their drivers get updates very slowly for the OS X platform at least
- only some older printers will how you # printed pages/ # pages remaining. The R3000 for example shows "spooling job, 3% complete". Very informative.
- the printer driver for the R3000 creates some kind of proxy files that are HUGE in size, and it's done every time, for each page. It effectively takes 10 minutes to start printing 60 copies of 300DPI letter size photoshop designed files. The printer definitely doesn't have 5GB of RAM or temporary space to hold all that, so why not START FREAKING PRINTING while that stuff goes on in the background for subsequent pages? And if it's the same exact graphic, why doesn't the computer just simply send the first generated proxy file 60 times in a row rather than create 60 different proxy files?
- all Epson printers I've ever played with will stop printing mid page when it thinks it's out of ink. This determination is done in the chip of the cartridge in combination with the printer firmware, not by actual reading of the ink levels. I would much prefer that the printer would continue to print that page and stop after. Less wasted paper, and the cartridges I throw out ALWAYS have enough ink in them to finish printing one silly page.
- print quality doesn't change until you spend $500 or more on a printer (print heads are virtually the same type/size on all of Artisan printers for example), ignoring, of course, dye ink vs pigment ink
- did I mention no qualified customer service personnel and complete disinterest in taking any customer feedback into consideration?
In conclusion, I am very sorry to let you know that I have yet to find a solution to this, and Epson has been ignoring it for years. If you do bump into something worthwhile though, please post it here.
Thank you! -
I installed Mountain Lion. When I try to print on my Epson R3000 I get a notification that rastertoescpll quit unexpectedly. How can I fix this?
Sorry but that's the very driver that I think caused my problem and I'm assuming Elstel's. Yes it's an Epson Stylus Photo R3000. From the posts I've read the new driver is faulty. Driver V9 seems to work temporarily with my Mountain Lion 10.8.4. It worked perfectly when I set up my new printer and installed the provided software. When I started the day to day suddenly it wouldn't print and I had the rastertoescpll error. My assumption is that my "automatic updates" setting updated the software over night and then it woudn't work. I then tried your link from a previous post and installed that upgrade. No change. I've only been able to print this afternoon by re-installing the printer with the provided disk. If pixies come during the night and I wake up tomorrow morning with that error message again, after screaming, I will then use my TM to go back to where it worked! Very confused. I was really hoping that Yuengdog1983's solution for the others would have helped me but as I said I've always had my computer named.

Printing in Photoshop CC in Mavericks with Epson R3000
When I upgraded to Mavericks and tried printing in Photoshop CC to my Epson R3000 the print dialog would show and choose an arbitrary paper size no matter what settings I used. Apple Care sent me an updated driver that solved the problem until I upgraded Mavericks to 13.9.2 and the exact same problem returned. I downloaded another print driver update from Apple with no change. Because my printer works fine in Lightroom 5 Apple Care has declared that it is an Adobe problem and they can't help.
Not to sound antiprogress but if I could I would happily go back to Snow Leopard and Photoshop CS6. Photoshop CC keeps crashing and since loading Mavericks my computer's internal processes, like opening a folder, have greatly slowed down. My very current iMac 27 has been working flawlessly in O.S. 10.6, my three Epson printers, and Photoshop CS6.
Those were the days!
Thank you,
Blahs Blase'I've seen some similar issues with other Printers as well. There seems to be problems with Printer drivers communicating with Photoshop CC on Mavericks. Could be that all three are contributing to a problem here.
Try changing the default settings for the driver outside of Photoshop. What I've seen is that those settings will be carried over to Photoshop and work, but making changes to the printer driver (Print Settings button) are sometimes forgotten/lost, and the settings revert to the defaults. -
Hi When going from Develop module to print module a white boarder appears on screen which also prints via my epson r3000 printer. I can get round this by exporting photo to Elements and printing from there but can i get rid of the boarder and print from lightroom?
In the printer driver (accessed through the Page Setup button) set the Advanced tab to borderless. Then in the right hand panel under Layout set all the margins to zero.

I can't find the yosemite driver for my epson r3000 printer.
I can't find the yosemite driver for my new epson r3000 printer. I am using 10.10.1. The Epson website says to find the driver by going to the App store and looking for updates. I did that and didn't find any. In "Printers and Scanners" in System Preferences I notice that the computer is aware that I am connected to the printer (via USB) but a message at the bottom of the window says that "Software for this printer isn't available from Apple. Contact the printer's manufacturer...". What to do?
See -> http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid= 173163&prodoid=63090295&infoType=Downloads&platform=All.
It looks as though Epson has a driver compatible with Yosemite.

Print size problems with Epson R3000 and Mountain Lion
I am using Mountain Lion on a 2008 MBP and an Epson R3000 printer. I can not get prints to size to my paper. In aperture I am choosing custom since there is no option for 11.7X16.5. I have set the print size to the same and still it does not work. I tried both landscape and portrait but that did not work.

PS 10/CS3 printing out ASCII to an epson network printer.
Hi
We are using PS 10 within CS3 web prem and trying to print to an Epson EPL-N3000 printer, anything that is sent comes out as ASCII characters yet all other programs print fine.
I've tried using LPD mode, bonjour mode and hp deskjet direct for the printer using both postscript and non-postscript drivers but the issue seems to be located within PS 10 itself.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance...Photoshop itself doesn't send data to the printer -- the printer driver gets an image or PostScript and then it sends the data to the printer.
So, the only place something like that could happen is inside the printer driver or OS print spooler.
And Photoshop sends very different data if the printer is PostScript or not.
Check with Epson to see if they have updated drivers. -
LR5 4x6 printing problem on Epson R3000
I am having a problem printing on 4x6 paper from LR5.3. I am running OS X Mavericks, and I'm using an Epson R3000. When I print using the standard 4x6, sheet feeder setting, Landscape or Portrait as appropriate, no rotate, the image prints on the lower right corner of the paper. It appears that LR is still printing as if there is 8.5x11 paper and centering the image, even though I've selected 4x6. This also happens if I use a custom size of 6x4. I have tried all combinations of portrait/landscape, rotate/non-rotate, to no avail. The LR preview on the screen is correct, but the output is not. I have tried it with both portrait and landscape images, but it does not solve the problem.
I have opened the image in Photoshop, selected 4x6 paper, and it works fine. The print also works properly in LR5 on letter paper - correct size, orientation, and margins. Does anyone have any ideas, workarounds, or solutions? Thanks.Hi Tom -
It did work properly with Photoshop, but I'd rather not have to use Photoshop for all of my printing. As far as Lightroom goes, I was using the standard template - maximize size and specifying 4x6 paper. This worked on a mac air, same OSX, same version of LR5, same version of print driver. So, I created a user template on the air, exported it, imported it into my iMac. Still no good. The only workaround I have found is to use a maximize size template, specifiy letter size paper, then align the photo against the left and bottom edges. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom. This did not solve the problem, either.
Also, when I specifiy 4x6 paper, the rulers show the correct dimensions. Everything looks correct, but it seems unable to communicate to the printer that LR is using anything other than letter-size paper. It's getting very frustrating and wasteful of time, paper, and ink, as I sure you can guess.
Thanks again for your suggestions - I appreciate the feedback.

Elements 12 print color dark, dull. Epson R3000 Mac OS
Wise Adobe Community folks I need your advice. Mac. running Yosemite, Version 10.10.1, Elements 12. Prints from Epson R3000 dark, dull. Formerly this printer/Elements combination worked fine before Yosemite upgrade. Monitor calibrated and (formerly) was accurate representation of print. Printer heads, ink checked OK. Paper Epson Premium Glossy.
Color handling: Photoshop Elements
Image space: untagged RGB
Printer profile: SRGB IEC61966-2.1
Color settings: 'No color management.' Also tried 'Always optimize for printing.'
Also tried purchase and download of Elements 13 but problem persisted and conflicts with Organizer appeared so I removed Eleemnts 13 and now back to 12.
Tried many combinations but I'm lost.
Your wisdom much appreciated! Here are a couple of links. No idea when some of them were last updated so your mileage may vary:
