Printing - page break

Hello - trying printing for the first time. Question - how do
I designate a page break? I will be printing out a number of data
grids (each 3 rows high) - and after printing 6, i want to create
start a new page. How do I do that?
Thanks
Chris

Hi,
How do I send the attachments ? And one more question whenever I add the "BODY_START" and "BODY_END" to the repeating group fields, I cannot view the template in preview mode. It runs for a while and finally the web page expires? Am I doing something wrong ? Please let me know. Appreciate your help.
And one more thing in the preview mode we can only view one check, even though there are multiple checks in the data definition XML.
Thanks,

  • Print/page break question

    Good Afternoon Experts -
    I have a newbie question and haven't figured out the answer after RTFM'ing. I have a template created via Microsoft Word. When I ask for a Print Preview of the data (table, no graphs), the data doesn't show up until page two when looking via HTML. I've tried removing blank spaces at the F and E objects on the template, but that hasn't seemed to help. How can I get get data to show up on page one??
    Also, the data spans multiple pages, probably 3 to 4 landscape pages. But the data rolls off the end of page 2 (would be page 1 if the above was correct). How do I get the data to continue on to page 2, 3, 4, etc...
    Many thanks.

    Check the CSS for page breaks - use it in a print stylesheet.
    Google is
    your friend in researching this.

  • How to force print  page breaks (line feeds) in printed documents

    setup:
    Illustrator CS4
    Windows 7
    I've created a longish document of various pieces of text in 2 diffeent fonts.  No graphics.
    Can I insert linefeeds into the document where I want page breaks when it is printed? If so, what is the technique.
    I come from linux/unix background where one can insert a Ctrl+L (line feed) to cause the printer to start a new page
    at that point.
    I got many hits on a search of this forum on `line feed' but those I browsed didn't really get to the question I'm asking.
    Its a little confusing too because it appears from some of the hits that a line feed is different on windows and even does
    something different.
    Or if that isn't the right approach, how can I make the long document print out in some sensible way?
    I'm using a common inkjet printer (epson R800)

    Can I insert linefeeds into the documentwhere I want page breaks when it is printed? If so, what is the technique.
    This is why I mentioned art boards. A new line or line feed is created when you hit the enter or return key. (I mention both keys as i do not know whether you have a mac or PC though I am leaning to pc since you mention linux/unix.
    You should find the folowing link will tell you everything you need to know about artboards.

  • Page breaks in (html) printed apex report

    I am having a strange problem that appears to be related to APEX page template.
    I have a report that is html generated by a PL/SQL function. I need to have page breaks in the printed report at specific locations. I am adding this style to the html output of the function:
    <STYLE>
    DIV.pageBreak { page-break-before: always; }
    </STYLE>
    and I insert this at the locations I need breaks:
    < D I V CLASS="pageBreak"/>
    (without the spaces in DIV)
    (found this technique here: http://www.unagibay.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=100&itemid=1821 )
    This works perfect when I run the report in IE, but FireFox is "ignoring" the page breaks. However, if I take just the output of the PL/SQL function in an html doc, FireFox works fine (breaks at the proper places). This makes me believe something related to the "page wrapper" content generated by APEX causes FireFox to not handle the breaks.
    I have tried copying and editing the Popup and Printer Friendly page templates, but I either remove too much and the page doesn't render, or the page breaks don't work.
    My questions for the APEX gurus are:
    1. Is there an "approved" way to get page breaks in the printed version of an APEX report, or is there a better way to do what I need to do.
    2. What is the minimum contents for a page template (what can I safely remove).
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Hi Owen,
    the page breaks are inserted before/after the section.  Expand the report structure window and make sure that the properties window is open below.  Once you click on the section part, you will see where you can insert the page breaks - the check boxes will appear in the properties.
    yes on the second part - just insert the page break between the data providers and then repeat the header for the data provider on the pages (also check boxes on the properties tab)
    Good luck

  • Page Breaks for Customer Open Balance Letter when printing

    Hi All,
    We are running 'Customer Open Balance Letter' report and printing the output(View Output). Which is printed irrespective of page breaks.
    I mean print is like in a single page two letters got printed, which in not expected.
    Are we missing any thing in print setup or the way of printing.
    Please let me know the possibilites of printing a letter per page or different letters printed in different pages without customization of that report.
    thanks in advance.

    What is your application release?
    What is the type of the report (text, postscript)?
    Is the issue with this specific report only? Can you reproduce the issue if you print to another printer?
    What if you download the output file to your desktop and print it, can you reproduce the issue then or it is when you print directly from the application only?
    Please post the details of the printer setup/style/driver.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • How to print Group Header on page break in a subreport - CR XI

    Post Author: rickcf
    CA Forum: General
    I have a subreport that has 3 groups with only one group that has a heading.  When the report prints and a subreport group is split between two pages (on a page break) I would like the group heading to also print again at the top of the page- even with the word "continued..." also.  Right now only the main report page header prints.  How can I do this since there is no page header in a subreport?
    Thanks

    Is there any way to test during detail processing time to see if a page break is occuring?  If so I could print out a fake header on the detail line, suppressing it only if the page breaks.  That is the only thing I can come up with to solve the issue.
    I am surprised the is not an option to reprint the group header on a page break.  That seems like a needed option and that is the standard in Foxpro reporting - there is a checkbox option to cover this scenario.
    A coworker did find a workaround to add a psudo page header to a subreport so if I can add that and put my group info in there it will also work.  I have not looked at the code yet though.
    I have another issue I am working on so this one might take a while to get back to.

  • Image not printed in SapScript, only after page break

    Hi,
    I have a problem in printing an image (stored as text) in a sapscript. The image was uploaded correctly from a TIF file in tcode SE78. The image contains a signature and I need to print it at variable positions within the form. That is I need to print it in the MAIN window. The image does not get printed when a page break occurs when outputing the text element containing the picture. If the page break occurs when outputing any (other) text, the image is printed correctly (after that text).
    Has anybody else encountered this problem? Could it be a sapscript bug?
    Thx in advance.

  • ALV: How do I suppress repeating values and page breaks on printed output?

    Good day, everyone!
    First, I've done a LOT of searching trying to find the answer to my question, but I'm not finding an answer.  If this has already been answered and you can point me to a URL, I would appreciate it.
    Here's my issue:  I have a rather simple ALV report.  It has the columns of Person ID, Personnel Number, For Period, In Period, and Amount.  I sort by Person ID and Personnel Number, and if the value repeats on the next line of the report, I want to suppress it (make it blank).
    I thought the answer was in the following code, where I set the GROUP attribute to asterisk:
      CLEAR sortcat_ln.
      sortcat_ln-spos      = '1'.
      sortcat_ln-fieldname = 'PERSONID_EXT'.
      sortcat_ln-up        = c_true.
      sortcat_ln-group     = '*'.
      APPEND sortcat_ln TO sortcat.
      CLEAR sortcat_ln.
      sortcat_ln-spos      = '2'.
      sortcat_ln-fieldname = 'PERNR'.
      sortcat_ln-up        = c_true.
      sortcat_ln-group     = '*'.
      APPEND sortcat_ln TO sortcat.
    It looks PERFECT on the screen -- the values are suppressed if they repeat, and everything appears together on one screen.  However, when I print the report, two things happen:  1) The values repeat on each row, even if they are the same, and 2) I get a page break after each Person ID / Personnel Number combination.
    I now realize that I can't use the GROUP attribute.  Is there some other way in ALV to blank these repeating values and keep all the rows together on one page, rather than page breaking after each value change?
    Thanks!
    Dave

    Hi
    Same requirement i had before, when i try to print preview. the output of the grid display is in grouping is ok, but when i print preview or print it doesnt cater the grouping and page breaks, so what i did i modify the internal table use in alv , after hitting the print preview/print with the format desired by the user. you can do that in user-command. see code below
    FORM user_command USING r_ucomm TYPE syucomm
                            rs_selfield TYPE slis_selfield.
      DATA lt_sort TYPE lvc_t_sort.
      CASE r_ucomm.
        WHEN '&RNT_PREV' OR '&RNT'.
          t_final_x[] = t_final[].
          PERFORM clear_redundant.
          PERFORM set_sort_criteria USING lt_sort.
        WHEN '&F03' OR '&PRINT_BACK_PREVIEW'.
          t_final[] = t_final_x[].
        WHEN OTHERS.
      ENDCASE.
    ENDFORM.                    "user_command
    hope it helps

  • How can I be sure a table is printed with at least 1 item before page break

    I've got a form with several tables (small and large ones, depends on the selection) and I don't like to print only the header on the first page (without any items) while a page break is needed. I like to reserve lines for every table (like in smartforms) or to check a line counter of the page to trigger the page break on my own if not enough space is available
    Do you have any idea how I handle this problem?
    Thank you very much
    Lagogar

    To specify the minimum number of repetitions, select Min Count and type a number in the associated box. If this option is set to 0 and no data is provided for the objects in the subform at data-merge time, the subform is not placed when the form is rendered.

  • Problem with page breaks in IE when printing to PDF

    Hey,
    I am having formatting issues with IE when printing to pdf, I have a dynamically created report which has page breaks at the end of each page, if I open this report(report is in html) in firefox and goto print the formatting is correct, if I open the same report in IE and print the report 80% of the pagebreaks are in tact, 20% are ignored which just makes the report look rubbish, my question is,( I know it not directly related to the reader but was unsure on which forum to post) is there a different css or formatting I should use to make IE play ball.
    Cheers
    Tom.
    the style I use to insert pagebreak is
    <code>
    .breakhere {page-break-before: always;}
    code I then use to implement it is.
    <TABLE BORDER=0 WIDTH=100% CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 CLASS="breakhere">
    </code>

    You may use a forum for IE.

  • Only page 1 prints well. Page 2 is offset to the right and information is lost at the page break. FireFox 8 and 9, Mac OS 10.6.8

    Mac OS 10.6.8 FireFox 8 and 9
    If I print a web page, either just print or save as PDF, only the first page prints well. Page 2 is offset to the right such that the information is cut off at the right edge. Information is lost at the page break, several lines of text will be lost. If I need to print a page, I open Safari, which does a very nice job of formating the page for print. But I want to use FireFox. Can you help me?

  • Only page 1 prints well. Page 2 is offset to the right and information is lost at the page break. FireFox 8 and 9, Mac OS 10.5.8

    This is very similar to a previous post with a later version of OS X, but the fix that worked for the original poster does not work for me.
    Mac OS 10.5.8 FireFox 8 and 9. If I print a web page, either just print or save as PDF, only the first page prints well. Page 2 is offset to the right such that the information is cut off at the right edge. Information is lost at the page break, several lines of text will be lost.
    I use several add-ons for work that are only on Firefox, so using another browser doesn't help much.

    Somebody had a similar problem and was advised to start in safe mode or create a new profile. (Here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/906274?s=firefox+print+first+page&r=2&e=sph&as=s). Starting in safe mode disabling all add-ons does not fix the problem for me. When I try to follow the instructions here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles) to start the profile manager, Terminal gives me an error message after I enter the line of text: "The application firefox-bin quit unexpectedly." I have tried it with and without the "-bin" (the error message is the same - just with or without the "-bin"), with a capital or lower case P at the end. Nothing works. Please help.

  • Custom page breaks with "@media print" in CSS when creating a PDF from HTML?

    Searching for threads containing the text string "@media print" gave me zero hits, so I guess I'm either the smartest guy in the entire universe for coming up with this idea or the dumbest for the same reason since I must be missing something that everyone else knows by heart without even asking.
    Namely, I would like to make use of the CSS "@media print" wrapper when I'm converting an HTML file to PDF through Adobe Acrobat - as opposed to printing an HTML page through a web browser using the Adobe PDF virtual printer device. These are, as I understand it, two equivalent though not entirely identical (as they make use of and rely on somewhat different settings) procedures that both convert an HTML file into a PDF document.
    Here's my CSS code:
    @media print { span.pagebreak {page-break-before: always} }
    And here's my HTML code invoking the page break:
    <span class="pagebreak"></span>
    Bottom line, this works great when I print the HTML file through my web browser, using the Adobe PDF printer device. However, when converting the HTML file through Adobe Acrobat, this print-related setting is ignored. Obviously, printing and converting a file isn't technically identical but as I said, it's for virtually all intents and purposes the same procedure.
    I'm guessing that someone at the Adobe HQ must have thought through this issue during a brainstorming session and come up with a simple yet elegant solution to cater for the needs of those who want to use custom page breaks when converting their HTML documents directly through Adobe Acrobat. Maybe a simple setting somewhere or a custom CSS tag like "@media adobe", or something similar?

    I've never heard of anyone succeeding in this.

  • How do I match the printed pdf page breaks with the page breaks from the online form?

    The online form is setup to be 4-5 separate pages...each page going to a different person/group when it is printed in a pdf. However, when the form is printed, it prints out all the blanks and the forms are off by about a half page.
    Is there any way to not print the blank spaces (I have several boxes hidden based on choices of the user), and to make the printed pdf honor the online page breaks?

    Hi;
    When you are viewing the "Design" while authoring your form there is a "View" setting that you can access from the "View" menu along the top right, or from the dropdown at the bottom right corner, if you change from "Web View" to "Page View" you can add page breaks there that will affect the PDF.
    Page View is an authoring view to design for PDF where Web View is an authoring View to design for web/browser/HTML forms.  You can use both so that your form looks good in both web and PDF.  Some features have to be added/edited in Web View because they are not supported in PDF such as Attatchments and Skip/Page logic, those are not available to add/edit in Page View.  The Page Breaks added in Web View are not used in the PDF, in Page View "Implicit page breaks" are added automatically based on the size of the page in PDF and you can add "Explicit page breaks" using the form field toolbar as you did in Web View (which will only be used in the PDF).
    When you ask if there is any way not to print the "blank spaces" you are referring to the questions that had remained hidden based on skip logic right?  At this time the entire form is saved/printed to PDF, there is not an option to omit those hidden fields.
    I hope that I understood your issue correctly, let me know if I can help further.
    Thanks,
    Josh
