Printing page order options: meanings? differences?
In the print dialog box, under page order, there are 3 options.
Automatic (default)
Normal
Reverse
What is the meaning of Automatic?
If I am doing double sided large document printing on a non duplex printer I would first print the odd numbered pages in the Normal page order.
Next with the odd page stack back in the paper tray I would print the even pages in the Reverse order. This works for an even number of total pages, but not for an odd number of total pages, page 2 would end up on the back of page 3, not back of page one.
Will the Automatic page order option solve this problem by automatically inserting a blank page as the first page of the even side page printing when the total page count is odd?
Does this Q make any sense?
The "Automatic(default)" refers to what is specified in the printer's PPD file. That may be either page 1 first (usually Normal) or page 1 last (usually Reverse). It may vary from printer to printer or from driver to driver. For example, my Epson Stylus Photo 1280 will print page 1 first when I use the Epson drivers when I use Automatic. If I use the Gutenprint drivers, it will print the last page first if I use Automatic.
If you are doing a lot of manual duplex printing, you might want to take a look at CocoaBooklet _http://www.iconus.ch/fabien/products/cbeng/cbeng.html_. It can simplify matters greatly.

Saving as a PDF in print page order [not actual page order]?!?!
Hiya,
I've got a 20 page newsletter, each page A4, all created in InDesign CS3 [nice and simple]. I want to print the document in print page order [as appose to actual page order] on our printer here at work, because it's clever and can fold and staple to create a book/newsletter etc! In InDesign, I can obviously use the 'print booklet' option to do just this, and it works great; all my pages are printed in the correct order, I can also choose to print 2-sided, all lovely. But I was wondering if there is an option somewhere to be able to save my InDesign doc as a PDF in print page order [front with back, page 2 with 19 etc] - as printing a PDF of my artwork seems to solve a problem i was having in the thread I posted up yesterday.
Cheers guysThis is called "imposition". Does your OS and InDesign version come with the "Print as Booklet" option?
If not, you can enter this range into the page number "Range" box on exporting:
20,1,2,19,18,3,4,17,16,5,6,15,14,7,8,13,12,9-11
(Typed from memory; -- please check)
If I then print this PDF to my HP with the options "double sided" and "2 pages per sheet", it comes out exactly the way it should.
(Waiting for the printer ... hold on.)
Well whaddoyouknow -- I got the numbering right first time. Perfect! -
All of a sudden, whenever I print a job, the document prints in reverse order—last pages first. Sometimes, the first page doesn't print. This is across an Airport Extreme-based home network. Are there any settings to correct this?
Hi Dan
In the Print dialogue, *Paper Handling* section, see that Reverse page order is not selected. -
Page Order Back to Front in 8620
Just for the record, I consider the removal of the configurable Page Order (need back to front) from the latest driver (downloaded 5/02/2015) a major mistake. I very much hope the option will be re-added on the next 8620 driver version.
For the moment I'm running the 6980 driver instead (which has that option) but hope to be able to return to the appropiate driver as soon as possible.
This question was solved.
View Solution.I share your concern. It is possible to download and install the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus driver as described in the post here. The HP Pro 8600 Plus hardware is very similar to the Officejet Pro 8620, but the 8600 driver does include a page order option in the Advanced tab of the driver

All the Pages are Printed - Document Printing Sales Orders
When using the Document Printing option for Sales Orders, if I select multiple documents and select print I get a message after each document that says "All the Pages are Printed", then the next document comes for printing. I also get a prompt each time whether or not to print Sales Order only or Sales Order and Pick List.
I don't have the same issue if printing Invoices from Document Printing. It asks what to print and prints all records without additional prompts between each record. I don't see anything in Print Preferences that would cause the Order to act differently from the Invoice.
We are using B1 9.0 PL 06.

I have an SSRS report that is rendered as a PDF file; the report has many columns and utilizes 11inx17in (Landscape) paper. However, once the report is rendered and users try to print the report they have to manually select the 'Choose Paper source by PDF page size' option in order to get the report to print on the correct paper (otherwise it defaults to standard letter size - landscape orientation).
I'm aware of 'Print Presets' functionality; however, I don't believe they apply to this scenario. Is there a config file/registry setting/anything that can be specified to automatically set the 'Choose paper source by PDF page size' print setting = On/True/Checked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...Anybody out there?

Printing pages in reverse order as a default for Mac os 10.6.3
Help!
Not sure what happened ...
I'm trying to print document from all applications and as a default the driver is printing pages (E.G 20page doc)
with page 1 first and the 2 on top, then 3 etc (pages face up as is ink jet fashion...) finally with page 20 on top ...
No good, not what I want!
I do know that I can open the Word print dialog box which does contain a setting Copies & Pages/Page Handling/Page Order with the options "automatic, normal, reverse" but every time I go into a new doc I have to do this every time.
How do I set this as the default?
Maybe this is not an Apple issue? I'm using an Epson TX810FW ...may have to take it up with them ...?
Any help would be most gratefully appreciated!!
FSet it up how you want it and then save it as a preset. You will probably find that once you've used it the print driver will default to it on subsequent printings.

Layout Options - Page Order Does Not Work Correctly
I have a Photosmart C7280 All-in-One printer. The Layout Option - Page Order does not work as expected. The User Guide (page 95) states that the default for a multiple page document is to print first page first. The manual states that to print last page first requires one to change the Page Order to "Back to Front". For my Excel, Word, Internet Explorer and PDF pages, I need to leave the Page Order as "Front to Back" if I want the last page to print first. This makes no sense. In addition, I can't get my Quicken reports to print last page first no matter what I try. Does anyone no why the Page Order does not work as expected for Excel, Word, IE and PDF, and does not work at all for Quicken?
Keisha,
If you uncheck the "show" option, then the corresponding HTML for that item is not rendered on the page. Thus, when you try to inspect that item via APEX_APPLICATION.G_F02, it simply doesn't exist.
One trick that I use when I want to have hidden items on the page, but not make them take up any space, is to concatenate them to items that will be visible.
Using your query as an example, I would re-write it like this:
SELECT APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX(1,ROWNUM,'CHECKED')ATTENDED,
APEX_ITEM.HIDDEN(2,C.PARTY_ID)
|| APEX_ITEM.HIDDEN(3,C.PARTY_TYPE_CODE)
|| C.PARTY_TYPE_CODE PARTY_TYPE_CODE,
S.PERSON_ID,
S.PERSON_FIRST_NAME AS NAME,
C.PARTY_CASE_ID
FROM CASE.PARTY C
INNER JOIN DN.PERSON S
ON C.PARTY_ID = S.PERSON_ID
WHERE C.PARTY_CASE_ID = :P18_CDBCASE_ID
AND C.PARTY_SEQ_NO = :P18_SEQThus, the second APEX report column will contain the HTML for the hidden items PARTY_ID & PARTY_TYPE_CODE, as well as the value for PARTY_TYPE_CODE. When you submit the page, you should not encounter any issues.
Thanks,
- Scott -

Page Order Not Availiable on 8630 Printer
I use Quickbooks to print checks and i recently purchased this printer to print checks from one drawer while other programs print from plain paper drawer. Most of the settings were easy to set up. The checks purchased come in order so it only makes sense that the printed side will be facing up and the printer usually prints on the other side. This is usually fixed by a setting called page order under the layout tab in printing preferences. This option does exist under fax options but not under print options. I noticed there are a few closed forums that never got to the bottom of this. Will there be a fix or should i return this printer and stick with my 8600? I have installed the latest drivers from the website.
Thanks, ChrisHi @Chris-K,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! Well after some research, the page option is not there to change the page order. It looks like they took the option away in Version 32 of the software. I have no explanation for you as to why this was removed.
I am not sure if there will be a fix for this or if the Page order is something that will no longer be an option. You could always try and use an alternate driver, but you may lose some other features. Take a look here: How to Assign Alternate Print Drivers in Different Versions of Windows.
Thanks again,

Universal printing PCL5 & HP Laserjet 700 Color - wrong page order
Hi,
I recently installed an HP Laserjet Color 700 MFP in our network (around 20 PC workstations running Windows 7 professional & HP UPD PCL5)
From one of the stations, each print job sent has a reversed page order - only setting the printer properties to "reverse" results in the correct page order.
Ist this some known problem?
thanks
ThomasI am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/

HP Officejet Pro 8610 All-in-One Printing Preference does not have Print Last Page First option
HP Officejet Pro 8610 All-in-One printer: Printing Preference missing Print Last Page First option. Print lots of multipage documents. Spending enormous amount of time resorting pages.
Prior to this printer? .... grab printed stack - staple - DONE!
Now? Have to resort every document!
Anyone out there have a solution?Reply to mkjohnson42. It doesn't matter what application I'm in. The option is NOT there. Just to confirm, I started from Word 2010, Excel 2010, a web page using Internet Explorer, Foxfire and Chrome. Plus, I did the old stand-by of going to Printers and Devices>Preferences. Under Preferences I have the choice to print on both sides of paper but NO Print Last Page First. I REALLY did check ALL of this before resorting to the Community. So, I really don't understand your question. Sorry.

XSL-FO for Standard Purchase Order, doesn't print page number
Hi,
I worked on XSL-FO code to custom the PDF output for Standard PO. Everything works great: I added company logo (in a different position of the standard commented code <!-- Too easy just to uncomment... :-)--> ), i created new attribute sets to highlight some elements on the print, I added a footer with company details and document type and number (instead of placing this in the header, the costumer didn't like it where it was..)
OK. BUT: the page number at the bottom on the right isn't printed anymore. For example: if the PO page is n.1 of 2 pages, it comes only '12' and not Page 1 of 2. So i tought not to use the original template (tihs one)
<!-- Template for displaying the page numbers -->
<!-- bug#3836856: Template for displaying the page numbers at right bottom of the page -->
<xsl:template name="pageNumber">
<xsl:variable name="po_page">
<xsl:value-of select="$BOILER_PLATE_MESSAGES_OBJ[MESSAGE='PO_FO_PAGE'][1]/TEXT"/>
</xsl:variable>
<!-- Get the String before the PAGE_NUM token -->
<xsl:variable name="string_before_page_num">
<!-- <xsl:value-of select="substring-before($po_page,'&PAGE_NUM')"/>-->
<xsl:value-of select="substring-before($po_page,'Pag.;PAGE_NUM')"/>
</xsl:variable>
<!-- Get the String after the PAGE_NUM token -->
<xsl:variable name="string_after_page_num">
<!-- <xsl:value-of select="substring-after($po_page,'&PAGE_NUM')"/>-->
<xsl:value-of select="substring-after($po_page,'/ ;PAGE_NUM')"/>
</xsl:variable> ......
but inseriting a select just where I want the page num to be displayed (see code)
<fo:block xsl:use-attribute-sets="test_style" >
<xsl:value-of select="$BOILER_PLATE_MESSAGES_OBJ[MESSAGE='PO_FO_PAGE'][1]/TEXT"/>
</fo:block>
but this gave me as result 'Page &PAGE_NUM of &END_PAGE'.
Where did I do wrong?? It's like the PO_FO_PAGE message is not dinamically insered in the PDF. Hope I've been clear enough and somene can help me. Thaks in advance, MicheleHi Michele:
I can check out for you how to print page number in XSL-FO (There is an O'Reilly) book, but I think I help you better by recommending a different strategy - Don't write XSL-FO stylesheets. While Purchasing does not support RTF templates you can still write RTF templates and convert them to FO using the XML Publisher Template Builder for Word.
Download the matching Template Builder for Word (5.0) or XML Publisher Desktop 5.5 (includes the Template Builder) patch and then Create your template as an RTF template.
You can then EXPORT the template as XSL-FO stylesheet and upload as to Purchasing AS LONG AS THE VERSION OF THE DESKTOP and E-Businees Suite XML Publisher MATCH.
If you still want to write XSL stylesheet, you can just use the Template Builder to generate you the code and paste the code (e.g. for page numbers) into your stylesheet.
By the way - Purchasing will support RTF templates in future versions...
Hope that helps,
Klaus -
