Printing PDF IE9

At one point printing from IE9 was a problem and some how I was able to resolve the issue, EXCEPT, now it's back again. When I print from any site to Acrobat PDF the end results are in what looks like chinese. I am running Win7 ULT - with all updates applied.
Any Ideas?

Check the fonts in the PDF, particularly if you are not using one of the higher quality job settings. Most likely the fonts are not getting included.

  • Adobe Reader 9 printing pdf problem

I have just had to do a compleate re install using Windows XP and Office 2007, Adobe Reader 9 now installed my pdf documents are visable but will not print to any of my printers. I currently have the following printers -a HP 1317 All in One and a Panasonic KX-P7100. Both worked perfectly with Adobe Reader 8 1 3. Now I have Adobe Reader 9 I cannot print PDF's. All other docs print out. Any advise please.

I have had the same problem with Acrobat 9 Pro (and Acrobat Reader, and trying to print PDF's within IE).  In my case it seems to be related to my recent Internet Explorer 9 install.  I had disabled the Adobe IE plugins (as well as others) for better performance, as Microsoft suggests.  When I re-endabled the plugins in IE9, Adobe Acrobat 9 started printing again -- at least once every 3 tries; sometimes it would work with Print button, others with File > Print menu, and still others with right click > Print.
In any case, I fully blame Adobe.  Having a dependency in your core app on something that sits inside another app as an add-on...?  Inexcusable, and very poor software design.  So add poor design to the poor technical support we're seeing on this issue.  I hate to be this harsh, but after reading the forums about the same error, spanning months and months with no resolution, I have no other response for Adobe's lack of dealing with this issue properly.
I even re-installed Acrobat 9 Pro, with no success in fixing the problem.  Buggy.

  • Firefox crashes (hangs) while printing pdf (or xps)

Firefox crashes/hangs whenever I try to print pdf using Adobe Acrobat V9.5. I updated Acrobat to XI but the problem didn't go away. It crashes the same way when I try to print to xps as well.
I have to force close the browser and I see Acrobat (or XPS) conversion dialog stuck somewhere at middle afterwards.
I don't have problem printing to pdf from other applications including other browsers (Chrome and IE9). Uninstall/reinstall (complete removal including profile), reset, disabling all addons and extensions, none of these worked. Although the problem goes away when I use Firefox in safe mode. What could be the problem here? I tried disabling all addons and extensions without luck.
I saw similar problem in another thread (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/994052?esab=a&as=aaq) which says it got solved after updating to V29. But I have this problem at office where I use ESR release channel currently at V24.6.
Can anyone confirm that this is a Firefox bug and has been fixed in V29? If so I can wait until next month when ESR channel jumps to V31.
    PS: I use Windows 7.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion or help.
    Peace

Try toggling the status of hardware acceleration under Options → Advanced → General, then restart Firefox.

If there's no problem in Safe Mode, that suggests an issue with an add-on, a preference or a file in the profile, or hardware acceleration. Since you've already ruled out the other two, hardware acceleration is all that's left to try.

For me, Firefox will simply not print to XPS, though Internet Explorer doesn't have any trouble. Others have reported hanging when text is pasted into the "Save As" dialog. I haven't seen any reports of crashes, though that may be specific to the older version of Firefox you're using.

  • Printing PDF forms to an impact printer

    Greetings,
I hope I've found the correct forum for this question.
We are having difficulty printing PDF forms to an impact printer.  We are required by regulations to print to multi-part forms from our GTS landscape, which is going live soon.  Since Adobe is the direction SAP is headed with forms, we have been utilizing ADS.  However, the need for impact printing has presented a problem.  Has anyone utilized PDF printing to an impact printer?  I'll list some details in case it will help.
    Printer: Lexmark Forms Printer 2590
Backend Print Solution: HP Output Server on AIX
    SAP GTS: NetWeaver 7.0 SP17 w/ SLL-LEG 720 SP7
Our printer has printer languages of Epson Emulation and Personal Printer Data Stream (PPDS).  Neither of these are included in the standard device types for PDF as specified in OSS Note 685571.  I do not see an appropriate XDC file to copy and modify.
Has anyone else run into this issue and found a resolution?
    Many thanks for your assistance.
    Wesley Tollett

the PortName should be changed accordingly.
if you are using printer port , commonly lpt1, you should change it to lpt1
ur command line could work , i think
i've tried it locally in my machine, it works fine.

  • Issue printing PDF Packages

I'm having issues printing PDF Packages.Clients have contacted us stating that our PDF Packages don't print properly. Essentially they were only able to print the "coversheet" and nothing else. I ran some test scenarios and noted that PDF Packages print feature behaved differently depending on several criterias:
how it was viewed (ie: desktop, Firefox browser, IE browser)
    what Adobe Reader Plugin
what command was used to access print feature (ie: file>print, ctrl + P, print icon)
So far I've noticed that Adobe Reader utilizes two versions of the Print Dialog Box. The first one shows four choices for "Print Range" (All, Current View, Current Page, Pages...) seems to always be misconfigured and does not print as intended. The second one I've noticed seems to limit your Print Range choices (All, Current View) which usually works.
This seems to be an Adobe bug. This Print Bug exists on both Acrobat 8 and 9, and the bug may or may not exist depending on how you view the "PDF Package" (ie: Desktop, Firefox, IE).
If you open the PDF Package on your desktop and view via Adobe Reader for the most part it prints as expected for "Print Current Documents" or "Print All Documents". Although the "Print Range" is misaligned (ie: "Print All" behaves as "Current View", "Current View" behaves as "Current Page".
If you open the PDF Package on a browser with an Adobe Reader plugin, a different scenario occurs.
You might experience that you're locked into printing only the "coversheet" of the PDF Package.
And again your "Print Range" might be misaligned.
In Adobe Reader 8, a dropdown appeared when you selected "File>Print" or the "Print Icon". The dropdown then gave you an option to "Print Current Documents" or "Print All Documents". Which basically provided you an option to print the entire "PDF Package" or choose to print only a section of the "PDF Package".
In Adobe Reader 9, the option to choose between "Print Current Documents" or "Print All Documents" was removed.
In fact I started to document the instances to see if its an isolated issue and it looks like it fails to print (as intended) 60% of the time. Of the 40% that does print as intended... it looks like half the time the "Print Range" is misconfigured.
Also, I've noticed that Reader utilizes two different "Print Dialog" boxes.
The testing scenario I set up was that you can print in three different ways:
        1. File>Print
        2. <ctrl + P>
        3. <print icon>
Three ways to view the PDF package:
        1. Download PDF Package & view on your desktop via Adobe Reader
        2. View PDF Package on Firefox w/ Adobe Reader plugin
        3. View PDF Package on Internet Explored  w/ Adobe Reader plugin
    My computer is using:
XP Pro SP3,  Acrobat Reader 9
    I've also spot tested on:
XP Pro SP3, Acrobat Reader 8
    Vista, Acrobat Reader 8
    Any Ideas?

    Hi Greg,
Since this is sytem defined settings that you are trying to implement, I presume that the INI changes ought to be done in FSISYS.INI rather than the FSIUSER.INI.
Apart from that most of your INI changes look fine as we are also using pdf as our Output type. Please find the INI change swe have implemented in our system for printing pdf.

  • Report Rendering (Print & PDF) trashes report that looks fine on screen

Since installing SQL Server 2012 SP2 CU3 (11.0.5556) a number of reports look fine on screen but when printed or exported to PDF the format is totally altered so that either many blank lines are inserted between lines, or lines are squashed together. It
doesn't affect all reports. Reports (both affected and not affected) use Tablix with both Row Groups and Column Groups. There is no obvious consistency between those reports that are affected.
All of our SQL Server instances are hosted on VM-Ware virtual servers.
I've raised the issue via Microsoft Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/1063641/report-rendering-print-pdf-trashes-report-that-looks-fine-on-screen
Any thoughts or workarounds? Is this a bug?

  • How do I view and print pdf files

I am using FireFox ver 12 on a Mac and can not view or print pdf documents. I have installed PDF Viewer 0.2.5 plugin but it does not appear to work.

  • Printing PDF report directly to printer, not using orarrp utility

The orarrp utility works only with Windows machines and it
requires installation on both the client machines and servers to
support. We need a more general solution.
Adobe has a java application/applet/javabean (and support
classes) to view PDF, and it is easy to write a java driver
which can be used in place of the orarrp utility. However,
Adobe's Java Viewer is extremely slow, does not produce quality
output, and is explicitly not supported by Adobe.
My question then relates to Reports. When the Report server
returns a PDF in the Previewer, I'm expecting the JINITIATOR,
used by Forms, is also used to support the Report frame and
functionality, including eventual printing. If this is the case,
is there not a set of classes, downloaded with Jinitiator, which
support the fonts, and printing of PDF to locally attached
    printers?
And if so, shouldn't we, in Java, be able to make use of these
classes and their APIs to print PDF files directly to locally
attached printers without the need for Previewing first?

    within a forms trigger:
    1. generate the report
    2. copy from iAS to local
    like: webutil_file_transfer.url_to_client()
    3. print.exe /d:printer filename (for windows OS)

  • Print PDF from web without opening A.R.

Hi, I'm looking for a way to print PDF documents (generated in Crystal Reports 11 on a IIS web server in PDF / ASP.NET Framework 2.0) on client's machines and printers (without opening an Acrobat Reader, but with print options dialog).
Is it possible to make this issue using Adobe Acrobat SDK?

For security reasons (eg. so that malicious web servers can't just start your printer a printing...), it is IMPOSSIBLE for the document to NOT show...
Any document that is on the web can be saved on the client's machine - that's the beauty (or not?) of the web and the protocols involved. If you wish to prevent misuse - be sure to use DRM.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro failed to print pdf file

I downloaded adobe acrobat pro and started the 30 trial version just a few minutes ago.
I could open files through adobe acrobat and convert word files to pdf, but when i tried converting a publisher file it could not go through. An error popped up which read "Adobe PDF printer failed to print pdf file".
The publisher file I am hoping to convert to pdf is a 21 page panorama article. It contains lots of images and a variety of font types.
I do not know other alternatives for solving this issue.

It seems to be that Adobe Acrobat virtual printer is not properly installed on your PC or you are not selecting Adobe PDF printer to print PDF document. Checkout the below screen shot to see proper printer.
After trying this if you have same problem you may trt some other virtual printer that easily convert or print any file as PDF, you may checkout here.

  • Orarrp can't print pdf file directly to printer

oracle remote print utility (orarrp) can't print pdf file directly to printer.
we expect orarrp utility can handle ".rrpa" file (i.e. pdf file generated on the application server) by directly print the file to the client's printer, i.e. invoke the acrobat reader on the client side, display the the printer selection dialogue, after confirmation print the pdf file, then the acrobat reader close automatically nicely.
However we are disappointed as the acrobat reader startup and display the pdf file content but does not print and does not close.
After testing the problem several times, there are some findings:-
    Finding (A):-
    (a) for the success of direct printing of pdf file, a physical path must be provided; we have tried 2 methods:
    1) using drag & drop to copy the pdf file directly to the browser
    2) open pdf file in the browser directly using browser menu-->File-->Open.
    (b) for the failure of direct printing, a virtual path is involved and we have also tried 2 methods:
    1) when web.show_document() is used
    2) enter the url to the URL bar of the browser,
    eg. http://appsvr.com:7777/report/test_printout/APPSVR1094707.rrpa (this is a virtual path/url)
    Finding (B):-
(a)when the physical path is used, a temporary pdf file is generated in the same directory where the rrpa file exists in the application server,
e.g. in application server: d:/printout/yyy.pdf is generated for d:/printout/xxx.rrpa when direct print occurs
    (b) however when the virtual path is used, there is no such temp "pdf" file generated and direct print failed.
May be when virtual path is used, orarrp utility don't know where to generate the temp "pdf" so direct print doesn't occur.
So, anyone has similar experience or further queries or has solutions, please join.
    Thanks for your attention.

  • How to print PDF under Java control

Hi, all - thank you for reading this message.
I'm working with Java 1.4.2_12 and Tomcat but planning to migrate upward Real Soon Now. We are running on Windows Server 2003 (customer's choice).
My application, using iText, creates a PDF, which comprises a new coversheet plus some existing PDFs appended. The new PDF is needed for archival. This part works OK.
Now, still in my Java app, I would like to print the new PDF, to a printer chosen in my code. At present I have only PCL and basic PS (2?) capable laser printers, mostly HPs, available and these are all networked - not local - printers.
I have tried some things using PrintService and this cannot find any PDF printers from the server, though for comparison it did correctly find some PostScript capable devices. Attempts to actually print have resulted in garbage, with the printer obviously mangling the PDF over several trees-worth of paper, if not stopped.
Has anyone else managed to 'filter' a PDF (under program control) and send it to a regular, networked printer, such as I have described?
Can anyone confirm that a PS 3 capable printer would handle a PDF direct and if so what DocFlavor would be appropriate?
Sorry if this is a trivial issue but I have spent quite some time on it and would appreciate any input.
    Thanks - Edwin
