Printing PDFs results in random white blocks

Hey,
Got a really perplexing problem that only happens when I print pdfs, whether through the reader or online. Theres random blocks of white, where the printer hasn't printed anything. I print it again, same problem, same random white blocks in same places. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing it? I'd greatly appreciate any advice!
Thanks,
ivory_panic

Can you please tell what type of printer you are using and and also the type of pdf you are trying to print?

  • When attempting to "print" to Adobe or create a pdf from a web page, the "print/pdf" result has a bunch of characters/jibberish on the page rather than recognizable letters/numbers

    What is causing this?

You could open it in the XPS application and check print preview to see if it comes out as TSN suggests (and likely will). You can go to the printer properties and adjust the page size accordingly.
You can also use the cropping in Acrobat to size all the pages and then use the Protect>Remove Hidden option to remove the cropped area.

  • HPOfficejet Pro K8600. When printing .pdf black blocks/ lines print over random words.

Only happens when sent from one source.  They are not visible on the screen and doesn't happen when I print to a black and white printer.  The graphics print fine - just random black blocks and lines throughout the text, over top of words.
    Thank you.

  • PDF printing random white boxes

I sent my professional printer a high res pdf. The finished print had random white boxes that appear underneath some images. My Indesign file and pdf showed no problems. I was told by a designer that this can be corrected by the print house. Does anyone know the solution?

  • Printing PDF to HP Color Laserjet 2550Ln result in Red images

When printing PDF documents to my networked HP Color LaserJet 2550Ln, usually the embedded images are covered in a red hue. This was already the case with MacOSX 10.4, but still continues with Leopard 10.5.2, using Bonjour. Printing the same document (also using Bonjour) via a windows machine (Windows XP SP2) results in a perfect copy.
Anyone an idea of the cause of this behaviour?
    Regards,
    Gerard

This works for me, because I'm tired of waiting for Adobe to find solutions: open your pdf document with Preview and print from there. It will print cleaner and faster than any Adobe application.

  • PDFs printing with black background and white text.

For some reason some of our PDF's have been printing with black backgrounds and white text, even though they appear to be normal on the screen before they are printed. I haven't been able to confirm 100% yet but it appears to only be happening with pdfs that were created from scanned documents.
Can somebody please offer me some suggestions.

Absolutely agree with the original poster.  I find white text on black background so very very difficult (I changed from using Tweetbot on iOS to Tweetlogix for this very reason) and it physically hurts my eyes to try to read it.  I can just about manage with Spotify using white text on a black background on the large screen of my MacBook Pro - and I do mean "just" - but for the smaller screen of my iPhone 5 it is just impossible.  Even with a retina screen such as that on the iPhone 5S there is a strange ghosting effect and it gives me a headache to look at it for too long.
This may be something to do with age!  I suspect most app developers are youngsters with almost perfect eyesight, but for those of us whose eyesight is less than perfect, this white text on black background really is so very difficult.
I know there is a workaround in setting the iPhone to invert ALL colours (under Accessibility in Settings) but it's a real pain to have to keep altering this setting every time I want to open or close Spotify, and it doesn't look right anyway.  iOS7 is supposed to be a light, bright, easy to read OS - sadly this new Spotify app is the opposite of that.
Please would Spotify consider adding a simple light or dark theme option, so that those of us who want it can have our much easier to read light background back again, with grey or black text?  It would be a great help to those of us who have eyesight problems.
If not, I may have to cancel my Spotify Premium account and move to Deezer instead, as I mainly use Spotify when out and about in the car, so am using the iOS app a lot.
Thank you for considering this plea!

  • When printing PDFs, random letters are replaced or inserted - Can't figure it out

When viewing the PDF documents on the screen, all is fine, but when printing the same document random letters are replace or inserted into the printed document.

Can you try 'Print as Image' (Advanced button on Print panel).

  • How do I print a colour PDF in black and white

How do I print a colour PDF in black and white.

Thanks for that, unfortunately a) I'm a Mac user and b) I've already ticked the grayscale box in the print dialogue box and it seems to ignore or override the instruction and still print in colour. I've been in to the advanced instructions and tried a couple of different settings there but still no luck.

  • Account fact sheet, print version (PDF). Query regarding output blocks.

I have looked at OSS Note 1066280 which explains exactly how to config the PDF fact sheet. However, on looking at the view or using the SPRO path I can see that there are currenty no settings in place at the moment. i.e. the view/SPRO is showing no data.
However, when looking at the appropriate Smartform I can see blocks for:
    Opportunities
    Activities
    Interaction history
    Contact Person
    Relationship types
Which all print out (display in PDF) okay, except there's also a Sales block in the Smartform which does not print. The logic/output conditions in the Smartform say PRINT_DATA-SALES_AREAS = 'X' and SALES_AREAS[] NE initial.  What controls whether this information prints, config-wise.
Also, I need to add new blocks of data, which is probably going to be sourced from ERP, but config-wise can I control whether the PDF displays these newly created blocks in the same way as it does for the SAP standard?.

  • Adobe 9 Black on White Document Scans to PDF Invert Black to White and vice versa! Not Good!

I have the same problem as TexasLawyer (Jul 30 2009) whose question was not answered nor was there any answer to a commenter who said he has the same problem ("I have an old HP LaserJet 3330 multifunction printer, and prefer scanning documents out of Adobe Acrobat rather than the software that came with the scanner.  However, after upgrading to Acrobat 9 Professional, the scans result in negative images.  I tried using the option in Acrobat to create negative images, hoping that that would result in a positive, but it didn't work. I'm using Windows XP, also.")
Me too. Except I am running XP as a virtual machine in a MAC (Snow Leopard). I "upgraded" to Acrobat 9 from a functioning Acrobat  6 (worked fine with my setup to make correct B&W pdf's from scanned B&W documents on the HP 3330 before I installed Adobe 9--I got updates immediately and am at version 9.1.3) butthe  Acrobat 9.1.3 scans on the HP 3300 invert white to black and black to white. The printer option box to invert black and white images was unchecked.  I checked it and ran the scan again but same result--white of paper document is black in pdf and black is white in pdf. I can scan the B on W document using grayscale and get B on W but the file is too large and unacceptable due to smudges picked up with gray scale.
Can't understand how so basic a use of Adobe is this messed up.This has to be a common problem since many many users scan black on white documents to pdf. Does anyone have a solution to this? It is critical in my profession.
Thanks in advance to you problem solvers out there that can solve this for me and hte others in my boat who search these forums looking for the answer to this issue.

I have an HP6010 scanner (sheet feed) that is used to scan multiple page documents. If I use the WIA scanner option I cannot select page size and the scanner defaults to legal size. On the other hand if I use the Twain driver I get negative images on my scans. I just installed Acrobat X Pro and the same thing is happening. I was using Acrobat 9. In fact in duplex mode the scanner outputs a negative image every other page, and a standard image on the alternate pages. Either way I am frustrated. I can't remember when the problem began, but I believe I was running XP SP2 and Acrobat 7 or 8.
Ironically, if I push the scan to PDF button on the scanner, which uses an HP utility, it comes out fine. All pages are in positive mode.
I did try scanning in color even though the document is black and white. I believe that the scan was fine. No negative images, but scanning in color is like watching the sun go down.
I thought it was Vista and System 7, then I was told that it had to be a scanner issue and that I needed to talk to HP. However, if the scanner functions properly on its own, with the HP utilities, then it has to be Acrobat.

  • HP 7780 All in One Printer will not print PDF files!!!

I have an HP 7780 All in One printer setup as a network printer.  It will copy, scan, and print everything except PDF files.  Why will it not print PDF files?  You send a PDF file to print.  The printer spins up like its about to start printing and then nothing.  No error message or nothing.  Nothing even shows up in the print queue as waiting to print.

Happy Monday edam. Green is actually the result of two or more color mixed together. Lets try printing a self test report:
Make sure the All-in-One is on and loaded with unused, plain, white paper.
Press Setup . The Setup Menu appears.
Press the down arrow button to select Tools , and then press OK .
Select Self-test Report , and press OK . The self-test report prints.
Let me know the results of the self test. Are all the colors present on the self test or are you missing specific colors?
    Thanks!

  • Unable to print PDF Files in Safari 5.1

    Hi,
    1) Running Snow Leopard v10.6.8. Downloaded Safari v5.1. I now cannot print or save pdf files within Safari. I can view them okay, but the error message I get when trying to save a pdf file (which is a program document for a photo expo after it has loaded okay into Safari) is:
The document “BIFB broadsheet program.pdf” could not be exported as “BIFB broadsheet program.pdf”.
This is the same error message regardless of the pdf file downloaded into Safari (apart from the file name of course).
Also, trying to print any downloaded pdf results in a blank page full of black (rather than white). ie, I cannot print anything either.
    2) Using Firefox v5.0.1, everything worked fine, ie. I can print and save pdf files without a problem.
    3) Adobe reader is loaded on my system but I don't use it. I removed a plug-in for Safari called 'AdobePDFViewer.plugin' but it made no difference.
    Any ideas?
I am a tad loathe to update to Lion at the moment and will wait for the next dot update.
    regards
    Steve

I visited a "genius" in the Apple Store, Leicester, this morning. After some playing around he seems to have sorted it. Apparently - now they tell me! - you don't need Adobe Reader on Macs as the Mac has its own pdf reader built-in. Safari 5.1 is now clashing with Reader and the best approach is to remove Reader - and the relevent preference files. I took one of my MBPs into the store and am just checking it out to see if everything is now ok. I'm now planning to make the changes on my other machine and will report back. (The genius said that my best approach was to bring in the second MBP but I'm not very convenient to Leicester so I'm going to give it whirl myself.)
    Wish me luck.
But why did we load Reader in the first place? Are we that unusual in the Mac community? Surely, others must have done the same and are having the same problem with Safari 5.1???

  • Customer's PDFs look fine until "white space" is cut off

We've got a commercial customer using InDesign CS2 and Distiller 7 that is having issues with the bottoms of their pages getting cut off when our RIPs (ECRM) delete the "white space" around their pages. In some cases (but not all), removing the white space also seems to be taking off the bottom two or three rows of pixels.
The PDFs look fine when they arrive, but once the RIPs get them, the bottom of the page gets cut off (sometimes).
I can actually see which pages are going to cut off by using the Acrobat crop command and telling it to "Remove White Margins."
They're the only customers we have (and we have dozens) that are having this problem. What can I do to help them fix it?
Here is the file as they've sent it. Standard white margin around the page and no oddball crop or art boxes.
When I check the "Remove White Margins" box, however, this is what happens (and it appears that's what our RIPs are doing, too, as the results from the RIPs mirror this.
It's difficult to see in the small preview here, but Acrobat is now cropping off the bottom of the image (not just white space). Question is, how do we stop Acrobat from identifying this text/image as white space and allowing it to be removed?

I decided to take Jerrold's advice and converted the pdf to a jpeg to see if borderless printing was possible with a picture. Before printing I selected 'Scale to Fit' then 'Fill Entire Paper' and it worked! It printed the entire page including the 1cm at the bottom that was previously cut off.
So bascially with this HP printer if I want to print PDF's without leaving a 1cm gap at the bottom of the page, I first need to open the PDF in Preview, Save as jpeg, then print using the settings above.
A little annoying but at least it's a solution! Thanks everyone for your help!

  • Problem with print pdf and ordering book

    Hi,
the function save as pdf, or print pdf, seems not working anymore: the pdf extracted in fact is empty (white pages). I have tried it on several books project, including some I had printed previously, with the same result. Any idea of the possible reason and how to fix it?
Also, if I try to order the book, my photo are visible (at least the cover) but I can't preview the whole book. And, when I try to purchase it, I've an error message saying that there is not enough memory for the book, please quit aperture and try again (tried, but no results).
Also, even more strange: I downloaded the latest update package, and when I launch it an error message appears that says "Aperture 3 or later version must be installed"... but I have version 3.1.1! So...
    Can somebody please help?
    Many thanks in advance,
    cheers

Have you tried the tips shown at [Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805] that might help.
Also, even more strange: I downloaded the latest update package, and when I launch it an error message appears that says "Aperture 3 or later version must be installed"... but I have version 3.1.1! So..
For the updates to work Aperture must be installed in the systems Application folder and be named Aperture not Aperture.3.1.1 or anything else. Is that the case in your situation?
