Printing Photobook

Hi. Trying to Print a photo book i created using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. Wanting to print it through a professional company and not my home printer. Thanks for any help.

The choice of printing partner depends upon the country you are residing in. In the creation workflow, choose to create a photobook and in the dialog presented next, choose from any size that is under the text shutterfly (or whatever printing partner you have)

  • How to print photobook pages into A4 paper

how do we print the photobook pages we made from Aperture after saving as PDF format. The PDF file when open in Adobe PDF is showing each single page only and it does not show 2 pages spread out like we saw in the Aperture photobook layout. do i need to use another program to do the layout beofre printing out in an A4 paper? I intent to do a layflat photobook which require the sticking of the pages for binding later. someone pleeas help. thank you.

I have give a several try to your new instruction but the gap is there no matter how i set the paper size. I gave an example of this page layout of 2.5in x 2.5 in . If i read your article correctly , my total page size is suppose to be 5inx5in.
Just look at the image and i had try out 2 custom setting in the paper size . You will notice the difference of these two layout after i open the preview for PDF.
the first one, the paper size remain as original as it is (2.5inx2.5in per page) .The image is pretty close side by side but the gap can still noticeable.
The second image is using your instructions earlier (When you export your book define a custom paper size that is exactly the size of two pages of your open book. That you define in the "Manage Custom Sizes"-entry of the "Paper Size" selector of the Print panel) - the result = it shrank to smaller size and left a huge gap in between those image. The paper size was set as 5inx5in per page.
Thanks again but still not resolve.

  • I can't order prints, Photobooks, etc. from Photoshop Elements 13 through my existing Shutterfly account.

How do I set up Photoshop Elements 13 so I can print photos through Shutterfly. I have an existing Shutterfly account but can't find any place in Organizer or Editor to provide by Shutterfly with my UserName and password. If I select the "Create" button on the upper right of the "Organizer" screen, then select "Photo Prints", and then select "order prints from Shutterfly" I receive a "Welcome to Shutterfly" dialog box prompting me for information to create a new Shutterfly account (new User name, new password). Since I have an existing Shutterfly account already I don't want to create a new one. I receive the same "Welcome to Shutterfly" dialog box when I select a photo in Organizer then select "Order Prints" from the "File" pull down menu. I also see the same dialog box when I open a Photobook in the Editor and click on the "Order" button. So how do I provide Elements with my current Shutterfly information? There must be some way to provide it but I have not been able to find it

You don't get any windo0ws like the one I have attached here?
In the above picture I have BOXED the place where you need to sign-in to your Shutterfly account.  Also, please note that you have to be in USA to get this feature as far as I know.
You do this from the PSE Organizer by going to:
File >> Order Prints >> Order Shutterfly Prints
    Good luck.

  • Where can i print photobooks.

Im looking at doing a photo book. I have PSE 10.
I cannot find companies that would print the Photo books. There are many companies like blurb or blacks cameras that have good programs on their own but I thought since I have PSE then I might as well use it rather than learning something all over again.
Are there any companies like I have mentioned that you would upload the book to and then they would print it. It seems useless to me to start using th eprogram If I cant print anything from it proffessionally.
    Thanks.

The only options in Elements are Kodak and Shutterfly, geared mainly to the US market. I think books are so personal and you need to test one or two companies to ensure you are happy with the print quality and binding.
Personally I prepare the images in Elements (sRGB at 300 ppi and the appropriate size) then upload using the downloaded software and built-in templates.
I’ve tried a few firms in the UK and settled on the one I like. I’ve kept their software and uninstalled the other programs.
The good thing is that they send me discount coupons from time to time so I always have a set of images pre-prepared to take advantage of the offers.

  • Putting fileinfo data on bottom of image for use in building a photobook for printing/binding

I wonder if someone on here could help me with a problem I have? I am not a script expert by any means. The term "amateur" is probably pretty accurate!
I have a few hundred pictures I want to include into a (to be printed) photobook. I want to put some key EXIF/Fileinfo data on the images so that they remind me of what file, when it was taken, with what and with what settings. I found an excellent script (by JJmack?) which does what i want with one exception. The script (below) puts the info on the image starting on the top left (0,0) and I really want it to start on the bottom left (so that it looks like a caption). I have tweaked the original 5 lines of data down to one line, and have reduced the font size but I simply do not have the skills to amend it to add the selected text to the bottom left.
I was hoping that someone on this forum might be kind enough to help - not least because I am sure there are others who would want to the same thing? Or am I being a complete idiot and there is a simpler way to achieve what I am trying to do?
    Grateful for any help
    Michael.
Apologies - can't find way to insert file so had to copy and paste:

I wrote that script to be used within an Action.  The Action uses the script to add the text layer. The text layer becomes the current active layer.  The action can then position the layer anywhere over the document by aligning the layer to a selection.  Also add a layer style like set fill to 0 and adding a drop shadow and emboss. That is the un-expanded step below the set current layer is setting a style and is lengthy.

  • Moving to Photos will preserve print products?

    Hi,
    Question 1: print products
When you start using the new Photos app, you can convert your iPhoto Library.
When you convert your iPhoto Library will it also include previously created print products (e.g. Photobook)?
Does anyone can confirm this? Via Apple Support I heard it may lack certain themes. But is there any new Photos user who can see their photobooks created previously in iPhoto?
Question 2: My iPhoto's library is in the twilight zone
I have a MacBook Pro from 2008, which had OSX 10.5 and iPhoto v7 preinstalled.
Since I could not order Print Products at Apple with iPhoto v7, I decided to upgrade and purchased Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) at Apple.
After upgrading the hardware (SSD+8GB memory), I installed Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) from DVD.
Once running Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6), I updated to the latest release: Yosemite (OSX 10.10.3).
Since iPhoto is removed from the App store, I only have the new Photos app and an old iPhoto library (v7.x).
So now my iPhoto library is in the twilight zone: v7.x and no way to open it. Any advise on this?
PS: My iPhoto came as pre-installed iLife '08 bundle with my new Mac in 2008. So iPhoto is not in my Purchases list in the App Store (also not hidden).
If it was in the Purchases list, I could install iPhoto from there (which is pushed as 9.6.1 apperently).
Via E-bay, I bought a second handed iPhoto v9.6, which installed succesfully.
However the icon is a 'forbidden' sign and I can not open the application.
The error says: this version is not supported on Mac OSX 10.10.3 and I should update iPhoto via the App Store (including the link).
The link to the App Store is unable to open due to a non-existing product in the App Store.
Official Apple Support leaves me on my own and says there is no way to get the 9.6.1 update.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sander Fiers

Hi Léonie, thanks for your effort to reply.
    Printed Products
To order the printed Photobook as I created it in iPhoto 7.x, I can assume now I would have to order it from within iPhoto 11.
The new Photos app is no option for this.
    Upgrade library on Snow Leopard
I could offcourse redo the whole thing and install Snow Leopard again. However that is no solution. When you run the iPhoto Library Upgrader, from within the process just prior to finishing, it want to open iPhoto 11. The iPhoto 11 I have is v9.6, which does not run on Maverick (10.9), so my guess is that it wouldn't run on previous versions either, like Snow Leopard (10.6).
    E-bay
Because iPhoto is no longer in the App Store, I bought it second handed for that reason.
    Friend with iPhoto
I have a friend which has a Mac running Maverick (10.9) with iPhoto (v9.5.1). The friend doesn't use iPhoto at all.
I think the best way is to go over to my friend, with my outdated iPhoto library (v7.x) on an external HD (HFS+ format!).
Copy that out-dated iPhoto Library (v7.x) to local disk. Upgrade the iPhoto library (v7.x) with the Library Upgrader and iPhoto v9.5.1.
Open the up-to-date local iPhoto library (v9.x).
Order my Printed Photobook from within that iPhoto v9.5.1.
Then move the converted Library (v9.x) back to the external HD.
And back at home on my MacBook running Yosemite (10.10.3) copy the up-to-date iPhoto Library (v9.x) to my local disk.
Open that up-to-date iPhoto Library (v9.x) on local disk with Photos and let it convert to Photos.
Try to forget of the very nice application called iPhoto.
And then I will have to use Photos (in despite of the negative aspects early adaptors have with the new app).
The only sad thing is: the iPhoto v9.5.1 my friend has, came pre-installed with her Mac. If it was a purchased one, it would have been better.
Then she could login with her Apple ID in the App Store on my MacBook. And normally then I would have the iPhoto v9.6.1 installer/updater in the Purchases list. But that would have been Utopia offcourse... I know this isn't very legally. But it would be a temporary workaround untill Apple releases a decent version of Photos. And not the beta version which is live now.

  • IPhoto 6 Print to PDF Errors

Please advise: how can I restore the functionality of printing an iPhoto 6 photobook to PDF?
I was successful before my upgrade to Leopard in printing to PDF my iPhoto photobooks. However, no matter how I tried, even opening a new instance of iPhoto under another user, I received the same crash. I tried printing photobooks of 30 pages to Photobooks with just 4 pages filled. I tried not having any edited instances of the photo, but the program continued to crash. Each time, the loader would hit about 95% and then the entire program crashes with the following report:

But InDesign will export directly to PDF. Use the 'Export' option under the File menu. (I have InDesign CS3) You get a lot more options on how the PDF is generated compared with using the Print…Save As PDF route.

  • Migration from iPhoto '08 to Photos

    Hi,
    2 main questions:
migration from iPoto '08 to Photos
    preservation of printed media
    Information:
Hardware: MacBook Pro (Fall 2008, Early 2009) 15-inch with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor a and 2GB memory
OS: Mac OSX Leopard (v 10.5.8)
Currently I am still using my outdated MacBook Pro with Leopard running on it. Since I have troubles with ordering Printed Apple Photobooks out of iPhoto. It is not supported anylonger. And since I have no new updates and new software, I decided to upgrade. Both hardware and sotware.
I decided to upgrade to the latest OS (Yosemite) which should be supported by Apple.
So I ordered a new SSD to replace the hard disk and 8GB to replace my memory. With these new pieces it should run Yosemite easily.
I also orderded a license and DVD for Snow Leopard.  I will install Snow Leopard on my SSD, to have a clean install. Then I will update to the latest possible version of Snow Leopard via Software Update. Afterwards I will upgrade to Yosemite via the Mac Store.
So I know how to handle the OS upgrade. But what about my iPhoto migration...
This is quite some old version: iPhoto '08 (v7.x). Offcourse I will backup my complete iPhoto Libarary before doing anything.
But should I only import my '08 Library when I have Yosemite running (I believe iPhoto '11 is included)? And then
Or will this not work? Do I need to import my '08 Library with an extra first step: import it in iPhoto when I have Snow Leopard running, then in iPhoto in Yosemite, and then in Photos in Yosemite?
And what about my Printed Photobooks I already created. Will they still be present in Photos? I spend a lot (and I mean a lot) of time creating some photobooks in iPhoto '08. I do not want to loose them in Photos. I want to order them at Apple, but iPhoto '08 won't let me. I can not find a minimum version of iPhoto required by Apple to order printed products. Perhaps I can still order with iPhoto '11?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sander Fiers

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network, Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
    Regards
    TD

  • Aperture's target gamma management is a mystery to me!

This a public pleading for help concerning display calibration and gamma management for Aperture.
I've been using Aperture for almost a month. The trial period ends in 3 days. I have to decide whether to pay for it to switch to Lightroom. I have managed/edited pictures in Aperture and made a blurb.com photobook during the trial period. It took me a while to figure out how color management worked.
I have pictures taken with Nikon D700 in Adobe RGB JPEG which Aperture handled just fine. I visually calibrated my monitor's color profile to target gamma 1.9 initially which I liked. Normally, I have my iMac set to the gamma 1.9 profile. I edit images in Aperture this way. I find that when sending images to blurb.com I have to export Standard RGB from Aperture with gamma correction of 1.1 and black point compensation. This produces roughly correct printed photobooks to my eyes.
Obviously this is not a long-term solution. And I've just ordered a i1display2 (Eye One Display 2) from amazon with one day shipping, so I can properly calibrate my display before I decide to stick to Aperture.
The trouble is, I don't think Aperture completely honors the display profile chosen in System Preferences. It seems to honor settings such as rgb tristimulus, but ignores the response curve settings. It appears to me that Aperture always wants to use its own preferred curve of 1.8 or 1.9.
You can check this yourself by looking at this image in Safari (don't use firefox - it ignores embedded color profiles). Better yet, download it and look at it in the Previewer:
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/aRGBFRD0292_Aperture_GammaTest.jpg
I visually created two display profiles, one against target gamma of 1.9 and another agaist 2.2. I also have the original iMac display profile with gamma=1.8 (the gray color in this profile is too warm for my taste though).
Now, if I switch between these profiles (1.8, 1.9 and 2.2) while looking at the above image in the Previewer (with View | Actual Size to make sure you are looking at raw pixels), I can see the effect of target gamma on the image quite easily. Look at the eye of the iguana. Between 1.8 and 1.9/2.2 I also see a shift in gray (as expected).
Try the same exercise with Aperture. Import this image to Aperture, hit z to zoom to actual size, and look at how little the overall image and specially the reflection in the eye change as you change display profile between 1.9 and 2.2. I do see a little of color shift between 1.8 and 1.9/2.2.
If you compare the Previewer along side Aperture, the difference becomes apparent. It seems that Aperture does not completely ignore response curves in profiles. It seems to pick up the color shift between the original iMac 1.8 profile and my visually calibrated 1.9/2.2. But it completely ignores the differences between my 1.9 and 2.2. And looking at Preview and Aperture side by side, it appears that APERTURE USES AN INTERNAL TARGET GAMMA OF 1.9!
So now I am very worried. When I get the Eye One Display 2, do I calibrate it to gamma 2.2? Do I calibrate it to 1.8? If I calibrate it to 2.2, will my pictures look wrong in Aperture? Perhaps the problem I see is caused by me visual calibration and will go away when I use the Eye One Display 2?
    Thanks
    Fred

William, thank you. You are of course right that hardware calibration is best. I got my i1display. 20 minutes later I have 4 profiles: gamma1.8, gamma1.9, gamma2.2 and native gamma (I have the latest iMac). What I visually generated for 1.9 and 2.2 actually matched the machine generated ones very closely.
Henrik, thank you. Yes, I was referring to target gamma of display profile.
But none of you actually addressed my question. My question was, why does Aperture not observe display profile of choice in System Preferences, while the Previewer does?
Please don't dismiss this question without verifying it yourself.
Try downloading this AdobeRGB test image:
    http://go-pic.org/coppermine/albums/userpics/10064/Streets_lge-adobe.jpg
Look at it in the Previewer. Create different profiles against different target gamma values. You will see that the Previewer correctly uses your chosen profile.
Now, import that image into Aperture and go through the same exercise, you will see that Aperture tries to resist display profile changes. It seems to want to maintain a gamma of 1.8 for AdobeRGB images.
If you don't believe this, check out the following screen captures:
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_AdobeRGBGammaNative.jpg
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_AdobeRGBGamma18.jpg
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_AdobeRGBGamma22.jpg
For the technically inclined, these are all sRGB images. I captured my screen using Path Finder. This saves .png files with my current display profile as color profile. I then used the Previewer to "Match" these to sRGB, then save them as jpg.
Incidentally, if you look at the png files in firefox (which does not support color profiles at all), you will see the opposite effect. The Previewer will seem to show you consistent colors, while Aperture image's color changes as display profile changes. This is because it was the same image I was looking at. All I did was to change display preferences. Path Finder must have captured the same raw image pixels from the previewer for all three screenshots.
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_AdobeRGBGammaNative.png
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_AdobeRGBGamma18.png
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_AdobeRGBGamma22.png
I could not believe that everyone else in this forum isn't aware of this flaw in Aperture. I was sure there was something wrong with my setup. So I decided to try the sRGB version of the same test image. To my surprise, Aperture now appears to try to maintain a consistent image against gamma 2.2 no matter how I change my display preferences. Again, see this for yourself:
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_sRGBGammaNative.jpg
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_sRGBGamma18.jpg
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_sRGBGamma22.jpg
    The png files are here:
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_sRGBGammaNative.png
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_sRGBGamma18.png
    http://fred-hsu.com/download/ComparePreviewer_to_Aperture_sRGBGamma22.png
So, I can only conclude that not many people work with AdobeRGB in Aperture. Many probably use sRGB which happens to work just fine against gamma 2.2. Most probably work with RAW files. I have not tried raw files, so I can't opine on that one.

  • How to make a photo album an event

I want file of my photo albums as an Event's Folder. How do I do that?
    Thanks!

I have the exact same question.  Many of my family members are elderly and would enjoy a printed photobook.  My Ipad seems like the perfect place to create this sort of album and then have it printed.  However, the only app I have found is the HP Photobook Lite app.  The app is very limited, limited backgrounds,  frames, shadows etc.  Also, the only option for printing is magcloud which prints a soft copy magazine type photobook.
Have you found anything that will offer the ability to create a beautiful photobook quickly?  I also saw an app called Bookfactory, however, it is Swiss so I think it will not be in English and I do not know if they will ship to the US or the cost.  Here is a link http://itunes.apple.com/ch/app/bookfactory/id434614668?mt=8

  • How to make a photo album book using iPad?

I bought an iPad so I could organize all my digital photos, create photo albums by trip or event and order hard copy books (similar to what u can do using iPhoto). Is the third part possible using iPad? Does software available through snapfish or my publisher work on the iPad? Will iPhoto be available in the future to iPad users? Any help in how I can achieve this goal appreciated!  Thanks!

  • How do I print one page at a time for a photobook .pse project?

I am trying to print a photobook project one page at a time as I am using double sided paper that I need to turn over.  One other project I did asked me if I wanted both sides and would I do the turning myself, but this one doesn't.  I also wanted no border on the prints and it came out with a border.  It is also frustrating to have to wait for it to load 75 pages and then it prints them back to front.  Is this PSE or the printer software?

  • How do I change a Photobook created to "print locally" to a file that can be sent to Shutterfly?

I created a photobook in photoshop elements 9 and selected "print locally".  Now I want to send it to a commercial printer and can't figure out how to do so.   I have checked with both Shutterfly and Costco, and they want each page sent as a separate picture....  How do I do that?

    Hi Margery J,
You are correct, to use a commercial printer you will need to export them as individual pages. To do this, go to File --> Export Photobook:
From there, a window will pop up: make sure "JPEG" is selected as the format and set your destination folder.
Then click OK and you should be all set, your images will save to the selected folder. You can then upload the folder to Shutterfly, Costco or any other commercial printer to have it printed as a booklet.
Please note that each commercial printer and service may have different quality or file format requirements.
Here is a link to a helpful Shutterfly page about booklet printing requirements.

  • Can I print a photobook made with Adobe photoshop 7 with Shutterfly?

I earned a free 8 by 8 photobook with shutterfly. I tried making one on their website but I could not find any that I liked. I would like to professionally print my photobook I already made with adobe photoshop 7. I need step by step intructions how to put my photobook made with adobe onto shutterfly. I would also like to know some websites that will print pre-made adobe photoshop books for cheap in case shutterfly does not work. Thank you. It is a Valentines gift for my boyfriend, so please get back to me asap

I believe Shutterfly provide only standard prints e.g. 6 x 4 inches or enlargements from the PSE interface.
You could save your book as a PDF file and then upload to an alternative on-line print service that can print the pages such as Blurb.
