Printing Photos to 4x6 Photo Media Tray

How do I get attached photos in the email to print on 4x6 Media from the photo tray instead of the 8.5x11 plain paper?

New B210 Photosmart.  Same issue as the others.  I can send a  under 5MB JPG to the printer directly.  I send the same  JPG to my ePrint center address,  ePrint center sees my picture and says "Pending".  I have a nice blue light on the wireless and can ping the printer from my desktop.  So all the pieces seem to be functioning correctly.  The onboard printer self test looks all happy.  My question is is there a particular network protocol ePrint uses to communicated with the printer that perhaps my router blocks?  I would imagine it would use TCP because HP would want to report back that it printed at the ePrint center.  Thanks.

  • Aperture 2.0 won't print from HP B9180 Special Media Tray

I have been unable to get Aperture 2.0 to print from the HP B9180 specialty media tray. I set Printer Settings to select the specialty (flat paper feed) tray but my request is ignored and an error dialog appears telling me to CLOSE the special media tray. The same settings work from Photoshop CS3.
    Any help out there?

    Check this out:
"I found out that there is an firmware update for the printer dated 1/15/08. The firmware update is for printers whose firmware ends in 21A, 24A, 25A or 26B. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-57843-1 &lc=en&cc=us&os=219&product=1142684&dlc=en
The firmware is updated to a version ending in 27A. (Oddly, the update can only be installed using a USB connection between the printer and computer).
When this didn't bring back access to Paper Type/Quality etc., I phoned HP. Here is the fix:
Trash CUPS folder in Hard Disk>Library>Printers>HP
    Empty trash
    Reinstall Driver: HPB9180_Installer10.3-10.4-10.5.dmg
Then reinstall Patch: HP v. 9.7 inkjet OSX 10.5 Update
Add B9180 in System Preferences>Print and Fax"
I found this in a previous thread. Do a Forum search for B9180. There's more out there.

  • "Media tray empty" message

This is not really a problem, but I am interested to know why it happens.  I have a Laserjet P1006 running under Macintosh 10.6.4.  Since the update to driver 1.2.0.224 , each time I print I receive a message "Media tray empty".  The media tray is always well filled, and printing proceeds normally.  Do I need to clean something?

I just had the same problem after I had a very, very rare paper jam in my HP 1022. I removed all the paper and then tried to print one page. You'll get an error message.  Load the paper and try again and voila, the "Media tray empty" mess age has disappeared. Hope this works for you also.

  • Printing 4x6 photos on HP Laserjet 4630. photo paper tray not working?

I am trying to print 4x6 photos on glossy paper.  My printer has a photo paper tray in addition to a standard letter tray.  When I specify 4x6 borderless glossy paper in the print parameters, the printer keeps pulling from the standard paper tray instead of the photo tray on top of the printer.  This has worked for me in the past, but I haven't used it in a long time.  What must I be doing wrong?

    Hey. I'm a photographer with the C4280.
This printer takes care of 8.5 x 11's pretty much perfectly. But 4 x 6 not for me on iPhoto or Photoshop.
So what I did was I set up a pages document with a blank template, set at 4 x 6 inches.
I dragged rulers about .25inches in and threw in the photo set at 4 x 6 ratio. So... most photos are 4 x 6, just resize it to fit in the rulers.
I've noticed in most occasions it cuts off the top of the photo document when laid out in portrait.
What I do is a hit command p, select the printer but choose under the drop box that says "layout" i hit borderless printing, and a selectable box will show up saying "print borderless" and i just clicked it.
on the document though you might want to make the opacity 10% to save ink. you have to trouble shoot the exact place to set and drag up or down the photo. but once you get it, its reliable the duration the document is open and the printer is on.
i know its kind of pointless for one, but i had a shoot with live printing on the spot with this printer and its great. you can add texts boxes and put those perfectly where you want (once you set the picture so its set) and throw in another picture and really customize the 4 x 6.
i printed a postcard with the writing already in it. just had to mail it no writing involved.
you also need iwork 08 or 09. i have 08 but im sure 09 works. so if you save the pages doc as a template you can just drag in the image file into where the old image is and print that way.
command p, choose borderless printing in the drop box and click print borderless. it should work.
email me for a copy of my pages document. [email protected]
i promise though, with canon or epson 4 x 6 print paper, its pretty amazing. almost comparable to my prints from my printer.
    or you can fit 12 3.5 x 2inch (business card sized) pics on an 8.5 x 11.

  • HT4356 I have just updated my Epson printer to one which supports air print but consider it to be a waste of money as my printer has two paper trays and there is option to choose which try...just "print"  How can I print photos via AirPrint from photo  tr

    Hi,
First-timer on this...Just updated my printer which was less than one year old, to one which had Air Print capabilities. This one is the Epson XP605 which has two trays, one being for photos. Each time I tried to Air Print a photo, it printed from the A4 plain paper tray instead of the Photo Tray.Twice...then I came into my study and changed the printer settings to Tray 1 (photo tray) Photo paper, size 5x7 and  Photo Best, but still it printed on plain A 4 paper. Would be most grateful for any help, although I did read on one Apple site that AirPrint may not be able to choose trays!!!! "may not"??  Thanks

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

  • Printing on HP 4x6 Photo Paper with HP 8620/8625 printer

How do you print pictures on 4x6 HP Photopaper using the HP8620 printer? I can't believe there are no instructions in the 30 language manual the comes with it. I've loaded the paper with the shiney side down, the paper feeds, but I get "Paper type Mismatch" error.

    @Raskolnyki
Good news,  you can "add" a form for the 4X6 or 4X6.5 (tabbed) paper size.
The basic instructions are already available for the printer, though not where you'd expect:
Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X
I created a new 4X6.5in form so I could use my 4X6 inch tabbed photo  paper in my new printer.   The printer was throwing "paper mismatch" errors at the 4X6 form.
The examples to create the form are included in this document:
    Printing Preferences
    See Section titled:

  • Brand new HP Envy 5530 only prints half of 4X6 photo

    Hello,
Looks like I'm  not the only one having this problem and so far, the only viable solution I've seen in this forum with regards to this paritcular HP printer issue is to take it back to the store and exchange it for a different brand.
I bought an HP Envy 5530 less than a month ago and decided to print some colour photo onto photo paper with a 4X6 size, nothing special or fancy. I've tried printing from Windows Picture viewer (or whatever it's called) and Picasa, tried numerous printer settings, used HP doctor and it said everything was fine, and after 5 attempts and lots of colour ink, I still get printouts whereby only half the picutre is printed, all this on a printer that's  1 month old.  Does HP have a solution for this?
    Thank you

I have the same photo issue going on as well. I can print photos from an SD card fine, but now, out of nowhere, all my pictures I attempt to print via laptop, tablet, or phone don't print basically. Well half of the pic prints (if you could call it that) in whatever color it chooses... Sometimes it prints in all black, other times, all pink!! But then the other half of the photo paper just has large ink streaks. I've wasted probably 12 sheets of photo paper and large amounts of ink!! Please, if anyone has come across a solution, I would be ever so grateful!!!! HP.....Please help...I'm growing increasingly frustrated and disappointed with the quality of the printer!!

  • Printing photos on HP 4500 using 8.1 photos 4X6 have a wide margin on right side..

When I got a new computer that uses WIndows 8.1 I set it up to my  HP 4500.  Now when printing photos 4X6 I  get a wide margin on right side. When I send the photo out to print to Costco it comes out fine. Have tried to change all settings and nothing has worked. It prints fine with MAC and other Widows versions.  I have downloaded new driver and tried resetting margins.  Do you have a fix for this issue

    Hello @AngelJL,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that since installing your HP 4500 on your Windows 8.1 computer you have not been able to successfully print 4x6 photos. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. However, before I am able to provide accurate troubleshooting steps I do need to confirm a couple of things.
    1) What HP 4500 printer do you have?
HP manufacturers several 4500 series products: Laserjet, Designjet, Officejet, Envy, etc. All products will require different troubleshooting steps to resolve printing issues.
    What's my Model Number?
    2) What program are you printing photos from?
    3) Have you tried printing photos from different programs on your Windows 8.1 computer to see if the margins issue is specific to one program or multiple programs?
Once I have the answers to the questions above I will be more than happy to guide you towards a solution. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • HP Envy 7640 won't print photos from photo tray using MacBook Pro

My new HP Envy 7640 will not print photo's from the photo tray. The photo tray option is not highlighted to choose it. I have restarted both the HP and MacPro several time. What am I missing?

    Hello @MEMEF,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to work with you today with resolving the Photo Tray printing option issue that you're experiencing when printing from your Mac OS X computer to your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer. Due to the lack of Photo Tray options there is a chance that your HP Envy print driver is not being properly utilized on the Mac Computer. However, in order for me to provide you with accurate support on the Mac I do need to confirm what version of the Mac Operating System you're using?
In the meantime, I am going to have you check on your Mac to ensure that the HP Envy driver is selected and not the Apple AirPrint driver. The AirPrint driver is a generic driver offered by Apple to allow for basic printing ability. Because it is not a Full Feature driver that comes with your printer you may not have all the printing features that you should have on your printer. To check the driver please follow the steps below.
    1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
    2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
    3. If your printer is already listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication with the Mac. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer
    4. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
    5. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that you have the HP Envy driver selected and not the AirPrint.
    6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.
    - Source
The options may differ on your Mac if you're running an earlier Operating System.
Once the correct driver has been verified as added in, please try printing to your Photo Tray again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist, be sure to include your Operating System in your next post. Best of luck!

    Hi Fred of Texas,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
Your Printing Preferences may be stuck.
Paper Size and Media Type are selected in Printing Preferences:
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click your Printer >
Printing Preferences > tab Paper / Quality >>
Select Paper Source > as desired / required by printer model
Select Paper Size > as desired / required for the print job
Select Media > as desired / required for the print job
    OK
You might try opening the Photo image in Windows Photo Viewer -- the program comes with most flavors of Windows.
Once you open the photo in Windows Photo Viewer, select to print it and then pick your options.
Note that the "fit picture to frame" is NOT checked!
You can use the following example:

  • HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer series - J410A not printing photos

    Hi,
It's been months since I tried to fix the photo printing of my printer and until now it's still not fixed.
My problem is that I can't print photos via windows photo viewer. When I hit print, it shows a printer icon on my task bar and it disappears. I am using Windows 7.
Also, if I check on Device Settings tab of my printer properties, the photo tray is missing. See screenshot:
I tried printing using Paint and IE9 and it printed but my problem is that the photos are too dark.
So I have two problems here:
    1) I cannnot print via windows photo gallery and my photo tray is missing.
    2) Printing to other applications like Paint and IE9 produces very dark photos.
This happened after I updated my driver. I tried switching back to my old driver and it printed but the photos are too dark already. When the printer was still new using the old driver, I had no problems with my photos and they look all good. I updated my driver because the time came when I cannot see my ink levels with my old driver. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and the problems still persist.
Please help!! I have wasted a lot of photo paper and ink by trial and error. T^T

If you are having problems with printing photos, see if this document is of any assistance in finding the right settings:
--Print Photos Saved On Your Computer--
I would like to add that I have never seen a photo tray option in the Device Settings of the Printer's Properties.  I checked all of mine and some had the duplex option here but no mention of a photo tray even if the printer had one.  But while you're in that section, you may want to change it from "Letter" to the photo size you are trying to print (4x6, 3x5 etc).
One problem I had with your question regarding the photo tray, I didn't know this printer had a photo tray.  I will post a picture below of this printer and when you reply, let me know where exactly this photo tray is in case I am just not seeing it.
When printing from IE9 or Paint, the images come out dark but what about an image in a Word document? Does that come out too dark as well?  Can you make a copy of a normal photo and it come out dark too?
Answer those questions for me please and I will be happy to help.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

  • Color issues while printing photos

I recently was able to successfully set up my iBook G4 wirelessly to my Windows-based Dell PC printer network (HP all-in-one printer). I've been printing documents and color banners etc. and everything looks great
I have also added my HP Photosmart 7660 to my G4 wireless printer list. However, when I go to print photos on glossy 4X6 paper, the colors are bright, but there is a red-ish filter over everything.
I had changed the cartridge just previously to printing with my iBook so I went back to the store and swapped cartridges thinking I may have gotten a bad one.
When I got home with the new one, I randomly tried printing a photo directly from my Dell and the colors were perfect. I tried again from my iBook and the colors were still wrong.
This led me to believe it was my computer and not the cartridge that was having issues printing the right colors. I looked in the Mac Help under colors + printing and saw some vague info on ColorSync and making sure your printer is set up correctly for it.
Does anyone have any light they can shed on the situation? Does it require downloading specefic software?
    Thanks!

    Howdy, Jesse,
Just a heads up - you might wanna check to see what driver you are using. Reason I say that is most host based printers are finnicky when it comes to networking (especially wireless) and typically they want to add to your printer list using Bonjour/Rendezvous or Appletalk. If you have added the printer as an IP printer, you may have it setup using a driver that is not designed for your printer (this may happen via Bonjour under some circumstances too). To check to see what driver your printer is using, go to the hard drive, then Applications>Utilities>Printer Setup Utility. Highlight your printer name then click Show Info and this info window should tell you the driver it is using. Also, you might want to check the printer manufacturer's website for a driver update - 10.4 is relatively new and the driver software you are using may be out of date. Or, you may want to setup the printer USB to yer Mac to rule out the network setup altogether. If everything looks on the up and up as far as the driver is concerned, you might wanna try a little bit of trial and error with varying the print settings. In the Print dialog box in iPhoto, go to Advanced Options, then click Copies & Pages and try to find the Quality and/or Color settings for your printer. Try varying color settings and also make sure that the proper media type you are using has been selected. Eventhough the printer is the same, remember that you are using different applications on completely different operating systems and this can definitely have an affect on the way color is interpreted.
Hope this sheds some light on the situation. Let me know how you make out.
