Printing piano lessons

Is it possible to print scores that come with the piano lessons in Garage Band 11? I get a crink in my neck from swivelling to read score from macbook sitting on piano bench.

From the lack of replies, I'm getting the impression that it is impossible to print out the scores that come with the piano music lessons.

GarageBand for iOS is a different app and does not have all the features of the desktop version. I could be wrong, but I don't believe that the iOS app has those lessons.

Installing the purchased piano lessons fails. message said .no internet connection,however I am connected.

Just recently I downloaded the upgrade for garage band.I purchased the Extra piano lessons. The installation of this is going for hours As the modem shows.Than the messages appears stating < Garage band can no longer continue as the internet connection is off. Which it is not ! Also my ISP shows already usage of 8 GB and I have nothing to show for.Can you advise me how to correct this situation .Before I cancel the purchase? Thanks for looking into this matter.

Apparently these Garage Band piano or guitar lessons are very stubborn to installation.Like I tried for ever .Finally after restarting my computer first .Than I rebooted the software and let it run . I went to bed .Low and behold , the next morning it was all installed in my Mac..So: First restart computer after that : Re Install software.

Slightly Distorted Playback from Piano Lessons

I am using Garageband as part of iLife '09 on an iMac 20" with an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 MIDI controller. I have a Tascam FireOne audio interface that the sound goes through, but this problem has also happened with the built-in CoreAudio driver before I purchased the interface.
I'm mainly using it at the moment for working through the Piano Lessons I've downloaded from the Lessons site. Whenever I play the piano, it's tolerable and plays fine, but I notice that the sounds can become slightly distorted sometimes. Sometimes, for instance, I would press one of the keys and it would produce a stuttering sound. Other times, I would hold down a key and it would play a different octave of the chosen key.
Any suggestions yoiu might have for improving the audio quality would be appreciated; thanks very much.

When sound device is sharing IRQ with onboard graphics --> trouble if you have not disabled the onboard graphics. This can be improved a bit by setting the PCI latency (graphics --> 32, sound --> 64-128).
!! 1212M is quite power hungry too --> is your PSU >300W?
If you're under 300$ budged --> Presonus has FireBox on sale @ 299$ (~250$ street price, and it's >500$ device).

Can't download Piano Lesson 5 and 6

When I try to download the Piano Lesson 5 or the Piano Lesson 6 from the integrated Store in GarageBand '09, it tries to start the download. But after a few seconds it stops and tells me that the download couldn't be completed. The help button on the popup doesn't help, because the linked site doesn't exist. I tried restarting GarageBand and even restarting my MacBook Pro. But didn't help.
Other Piano lessons all worked great downloading the same way. Even the ones with higher digit.
Could someone please help?

I, as well as many many many others, are experiencing the very same problem (look back through this forum).
My GarageBand experience now is getting slower and glitchy. I'm not sure if it is due to it still trying to download lessons in the background. I get an occasional pop-up that says GarageBand couldn't load sounds, re-start.
Evidently you got an Apple person to recognize that a huge problem has been building with regard to user experiences pertaining to their update/downloads.

Something is screwy with the GarageBand piano lesson practice sessions.

I am learning to play the piano and I have an M-Audio USB KeyStudio keyboard hooked up in order to learn. When I go to the Learn to Play sessions, and I click record, I can hear what sounds like previous recordings I have made, but I don't hear keyboard tones, I hear what sounds like the tapping of the keys themselves. I am not hearing any sound when I am trying to record my progress, but when the keyboard is hooked up and a blank GarageBand project is started, I can hear the keys clearly when I play them. It's like it doesn't recognize my keyboard when I am in the Learn to Play section, and it sounds like it is recording the actual tapping of my fingers to the keys from a mile away.

I have a similar problem.
Actually my problem is that on the "play along" section of the lesson, it makes me hear the last record with a pretty high volume, and the actual recording I'm doing in a really low volume.
And if I try to change the volume or mute it on the "Mixer" (the volume of "My recordings", "My instruments" and "teacher Piano" are independent), the thing doesn't work as it should do.
Meaning that if I mute "My recordings", it mutes also what I'm playing at the moment.
I just want to make a recording hearing nothing more then what I'm playing in that specific moment.
By the way, I was using a previous version of Garageband before updating to Yosemite, and everything worked smoothly.

Classical Piano Lessons

I can't download a lesson of Beethoven, but I don't know why. Mac says to go to applestore, I can't find the answer to this problem. Does anybody know??!

Yes, the newer versions of the lessons include a few extra features that GB 09 did not have.
These include recordings of your performance so that you can listen to them again and also a "grade" or percentage of how well you did in your lesson.
This would be the only reason I could think of that the GB is telling you to upgrade.

Basic Piano lessons only shows lessons 2-9 available

This is on a clean install of Snow Leopard with all updates and a install of GarageBand 11 from the app store.
Lesson 2 talks about lesson 1 but it is not even in my list.
My keyboard is arriving on Wednesday, I hope I can get this resolved by then!

Success. Today right-click Garageband (ver 10, the one with missing Lessons) located in Applications folder selecting Move to Trash. As App store then stated Purchase-so Installed it that now includes the previously missing Basic & Classical Music Lessons. Lessons are still installed in /HD/Library/Application Support/Learn to Play, interestingly with the file dates from the GB 6.0.5 install a few days ago. I suppose I can now carefully Move to Trash the GB 6.0.5 application.

Is there an error in the sheet music of piano lesson 8?

Or am I not seeing it correctly? Fifteenth measure, in the video Tim appears to play middle C with finger 2 of his left hand. The sheet music calls for A, and the on-screen keyboard shows a "2" over the A below middle C.

can anyone clear up whether or not you have to pay for the basic guitar/piano lessons on garageband?

No you don't have to pay. The only ones that cost are the artist lessons. The free ones are very good too - well worth downloading.

Problem with downloading Guitar Lesson 5

I have problems with downloading Guitar Lesson #5. I was able to successfully able to download all other lessons, but when I try to downloadat Lesson #5, this error constantly occurs:
"GarageBand was not able to complete download."
I'm curious about how to download this lesson. Thank you for your help.

I had problems downloading John Legend's piano lesson. It downloaded but quit while installing. And then it tried reinstallling after each bootup of Garageband. I finally found the location where Garageband wants to install these files: root>Library>Application Support>Garageband>Learn to Play>Artist Lessons. I deleted that last directory. After restarting the lessons finally installed. It seems as though Garageband created this folder again as I had expected and the .mwand file with the lesson got installed. Now everything works fine. Hope this helps you too as nobody at Apple (after sales) seemed to know how to help me.

Can't download basic lessons in GarageBand

I've just bought a keyboard, connected it to my Mac and started GarageBand. The "Intro to Piano" lesson works great, but I can't access any of the other lessons. I go to "Lesson Store" and click the download icon at the bottom right:
This brings up the dialog asking you to purchase (but doesn't give a price?):
Click "Continue". It asks for me to log in to my AppleID. This brings up the next dialog which says that I've already purchased this.
Afterwards, it asks me to log in to my AppleID again, but leaves me at the same "Add more lessons to GarageBand" dialog.
If I go to the App Store, there's an old version of GarageBand (6.0.5), but nothing otherwise that I can see.
If I go back to the Lesson Store again, I can get to the same purchase dialog, but it won't ask for my AppleID. Clicking the continue button does nothing.
So what gives? Have I already purchased this, or do I need to purchase it again?

Check out the article below to get your lessons downloaded to your computer. I know you have done the first part of the steps indicates so I would look at the second part and go to the Apple Online Store to download it from there.

Problem with downloading lesson store items

I am trying to get the guitar lessons downloaded. I don't seem to have guitar lesson one and it doesn't appear in the store. Lesson 2 won't complete the download even though I try each time i open Garageband. The piano lessons (which are excellent) have downloaded no prob. any suggestions?

You can download the lessons directly from this site http://www.kuflux.com/?p=309 once the download finishes you can install just like normal. When the install finishes, the file will be in MacBookHD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/LearnToPlay/tmp/BasicLessons copy that file, click the back button twice, and paste it into the basic lessons folder. It should now be in with a pile of other lessons in the MacBookHD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/LearnToPlay/BasicLessons Folder. When you go back to garage band, it should appear. If not try restarting. Hope this helps.

Is piano keyboard in GarageBand being reversed?

I just got my piano today and started my very first piano lesson on GarageBand. I've never had any experience with piano before so please excuse me if the question sounds too dump for you
I notice that the GarageBand piano starts with 3 black keys, then 2 black keys, etc. starting from the left to right, which is completely opposite to mine. I googled some piano image and finds all of them similar to mine.
Is the GarageBand keyboard being reversed? Why did they do that? I find it to be very counter intuitive. Is there anyway I can change it to make it looks the same as mine?
Some information: Mac OS 10.6, Pinao technics SX-PR51.

It is not reversed, it is showings a diffenerent section of the keyboard - shifted a fifth down, so the bass keys will start with "F" and not with "C" like your keyboard. Actually, I prefer it this way when playing in C scale. Then I frequently need a note below the C and this makes it easier to play.
Your keyboard starts at the fifth white key to the right.

Lessons for GarageBand '09

I am seriously considering an Apple computer, but I just have one question to know if I should buy iLife '09:
With the lessons in GarageBand you can download, are there any piano lessons for Green Day??? And how many artists are there available for piano??? (I know it, these question are really stupid, but then I can convince my parents to include iLife '09) And of course I love Green Day music.

good news, iLife comes free with a new computer, so there's nothing to have to talk them into other than the computer itself (though i don't believe there are any green day lessons)
