Printing portfolio folders

I create two folders within the portfolio. One contains policies requiring me to print 3 copies; the other with other policies only 2 copies. When I select the pdfs within the folder and choose print, it only prints the first pdf.
How can I have it print/collate all of these pdfs that are within each folder?

What version of Acrobat are you using? How are you selecting the PDF files you want to print?
You should be able to print selected files (and choose your print options in the print dialog). Example, in Acrobat X open the folder, right click and choose select all. Then click the print icon. If you have multiple PDFs selected, then it should print more than just the first.

ES4 Assembler and portfolios' folders compatibility with Acrobat 9

I have the following problem: I'm producing a PDF Portfolio with some nested file and folders through Assembler WebAPI.
The portfolio is ok and works fine if opened with Acrobat XI, but the same portfolio is bugged if opened with Acrobat 9: all the package files are shown in the root directory and clicking (or right-clicking) on them causes a navigation to the (empty) directory specified in the DDX. There is also no way to open the package files.
(PDF Portfolios created with Acrobat 9 works fine in both versions, so isn't a problem related to my installation of Acrobat 9)
How can i make it works also in Acrobat 9? I'm defining a wrong DDX or it is a known bug?
The file should be distributed to clients who use Acrobat 9 and cannot install newer version due to company policies.

I got the error msg translated:
Cannot read input data, some characters cannot be showed/printed.
I ran preflight and embedded the fonts and I'm hoping that fixes the problem. I haev no way of testing this. Does anyone know if I did the right thing or is there something else I should do?

Changing the order for printing portfolio files in adobe acrobat 9 pro

Does anyone know how to change the order for printing pdf files that are part of a portfolio in adobe acrobat 9 pro? The documentation seems to say that it prints files alphabetically by filename rather than by the internal sort order. This won't work for me. Any ideas? Thanks.

Can't Print PDF/Folders Need Password To Opem After Archive and Install

Greetings:
I did a archive and install on my 10.4.11 eMac because of ever sluggish performance and Safari 3.1.1 and QuickTime 1.4 problems (gotta be a better way than all that!). First, maybe by my shakey hand or because of bills, I somehow did the archive and install twice in succession, ending up with 2 previous system folders. (The second one doesn't contain any personal goodies). But I've lost my prefs and happily I regularly Sync Firefox/Thunderbird separately so they weren't lost in the grand sweep-up. I dumped the library folder in the 1st Previous System folder into the "new" System folder's (blank) library one and retrieved most of my functionality. What I can't do now is Print PDFs and annoyingly, most every other system folder wants my permissions password before I can use it. This sneaky lock-out kept NeoOffice from booting for hours despite reinstalling it several times before I realized the NeoOffice folder in the library folder was locked. Unfortunately, Safari seems to choke when you type a password or characters into some input windows, like some kind of auto-fill was trying beat you and gets hung.
How can I kill all these pesky permissions off and how do I recover Print PDF?

Printing portfolio: wrong sequence

Hi,
I'm working with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.
I've created a acrobat pdf portfolio with a directory structure in it. For example:
- Dir 1
     - file 1
     - file 2
- Dir 2
     - file 3
- Dir 3
     - file 4
     - file 5
I added the file by drag-and-drop from my explorer.
When i print this portfolio or when i combine the files into 1 single pdf, the sequence of the files is wrong: file 3, file 4, file 5, file 1, file 2.
Is there anybody who can explain this and can tell me how to solve this problem?

Best way (folio/bounding) to display a printed portfolio? (Graphic Design question)

Apologies if this isnt posted in the correct forum (but I wasnt able to find any mainstream graphic design forums, I know there is ultrashock but that's more flash based, if anyone could point me to some would be great.)
Any how my question is what is the best portfolio type (paper/binded folder/display sheets) to display printed graphic design work in to potential clients or employers etc?
I had been using protective sheets, but then a client of mine showed me what someone else had done for them and it was displayed in a huge thick A3 bound portfolio (you couldnt see or tell how each peice of paper was bound to the edge). I'm thinking that's what I really need and really professional type looking folio presented like that, but I don't know of what you would call that type of folio/bounding etc.

I prefer to do wire-o because you can change the pages out as your portfolio changes. I also like to have vellum slip sheets in-between because it looks more professional as well has assure that the prints do not stick together. I prefer to go with printed plastic transparent covers with an emboss as well as foil stampings with double hit blacks consisted of gloss UV coatings in patterns of textiles, but that gets costly.
Other then that, I think you will have more success creating an on line portfolio. Most people don't have the time to look at hard copies, but it's good to have a back up hard copy for face to face situations.

Printing portfolio - but only document for document ...

I am suffering the following difficulty: I received a pdf-portfolio which contains 10 different documents. For an unknown reason there is for me no possibility given to print them all at once. So I do have to initiate printing for every single document and sort it afterwords -- which isn't funny at all ...
In the online-help from Adobe I found the hint, that I should mark all the documents in the side bar at the left. But this doesn't work either. There doesn't appear the promised windows that asks if I want to print a single document or all that are marked.
Who can give me the answer what I am doing wrong?

Well then, it took a little while but eventually the problem has been solved!
I deinstalled the newest version of the reader and
installed the version 9.0.0.
The print-dialogue from now on appears exactly as should be, I can decide eather to print some or to print all of the included documents.
So it seams as if there exists a bug which does't cause trouble for numerically enough people to become mentioned.

I use gmail but when I print, it prints my folders as well as the email. Help

The left side of the screen which is all my gmail folders prints with my email and therefore cuts off the print of the email on the right side. I have tried page set up and all types of things including printing using landscape mode. Nothing works. I need to print a legal document and I can't. Please help.

To print an entire conversation in GMail, click on the printer icon to the right of the subject above the first message in the conversation. To print individual messages, click the arrow to the right of the reply icon. You'll see a "Print" option in the menu that appears.

TREX Index creation help for Bex Portfolio folders

I have created a TREX search index on a folder structure within our BI Bex Portfolio. The problem that I am enountering is that the index will only pick up documents and links created within these folders and it does not seem to index publshed links to queries by users using the broadcasting features of query designer. Does anybody know why this is and how to get it to also pick up these BW objects?

The TREX should be able to index the titles (cm_displayname) of the links. Do you know if the titles of the links are searchable?
But I dont think the content can be indexed, unless you publish the reports as pdf-files instead of links, because the TREX cannot reproduce the report and index it afterwards. The TREX cannot index (crawl) javascript for instance, because it cannot perform that kind of client-like behaviour.

Print portfolio as ONE file

I have been using acrobat pro v.7 and I just installed the trial for v9. I am playing with the portfolio feature and want to know if there is a way to print the contents of the portfolio as *one* file? I have a several individual docs that i'd like to compile into one portfolio. Some of those same docs will also be included in other portfolios. When I print the portfolio I want to print it duplex and then have our printer staple it all together, but in order to do that it needs to print as one file, not multiple files.
If this is possible then I'm also wondering if it's possible to specify the order of the documents without changing the actual filename?

I like my Canon Pixma MX850. It is a network all-in-one, so it will work with any router, and it scans through the network as well as prints. The only slight hitch in setup is that it needs an initial USB connection to set up the network connection, but there has been no problems since then. I prefer a network printer to a USB printer, because it is made to work natively with a network connection, and you do not need to worry about compatibility with the print server, such as the one built into the Airport Express.
The only problem with it is that the price keeps going down since I bought it! However, you can save yourself a lot of grief if you stop shopping after you buy something.

Removing Printer Folders + Avtivity Monitor

I have drivers for both my Lexmark P915 printer, Epson Perfection 1250 Scanner up to 10.6, will continue to use these peripherals, no intention of changing. In the Activity Monitor, (I have completely removed OS9), I notice the following Process:
HP IO Classic Proxy
HP IO Classic Proxy 2
HP Event Handler
Obviously, I don't require these, can I just quit these processes, will that delete them permanently.
Also, when I click on my main drive, then Library, there is a Printer folder. Within that folder, there are many folders with the names of printer manufacturers, some of them empty, the others, specifically the HP folder takes up 231mb of space. Can I just keep the main Printer folder but trash all the other Printer Manufacturer folders in it as I will never use them? Thanks, Ken.

Hey BD Aqua, took me awhile to play with this, gave me a lot of problems, made the Activity Monitor almost useless, lost most of my icons in the menubar, can't get them back (eg: clock, fax status, Sophos icon). I check on them in System Preferences but they won't appear, actually a blessing in disguise. I put all the contents of the printer folder in the trash, then empty the trash. This, however, took my Lexmark P915 printer driver with, so I re-installed the printer driver, works perfectly again, now the only printer folder left. Sophos told me how to extract the server icon from the program folder, copied it to the desktop, so that when I click on it, the icon appears in the menubar until I shut down my computer, can do the updates from the menubar (of course Sophos is always running in the BG, by the way Sophos is working great!!). For the clock + calendar, I got 2 free programs, MagiCal for Tiger, great program which shows the day/date in the menubar (if you click on the icon opens the calendar, click on a day, opens iCal). For the clock I got Lovers Clock, which after setting, shows the time in my area. The Fax icon is of no concern because I never fax. I also took Spotlight off the menubar so everything is lean, more efficient. I have also been running Monolingual, so along with deleting the printers I have gone from 400,000 files + 100,000 folders to 146,000 files + 26,000 folders, so much less strain for the main drive. So things work out sometimes. Ken.

How to print from Mavericks to an old Xerox M24 Workcentre?

We have a Xerox Workcentre M24 printer-fax-scanner at our office.
Unfortunately Xerox stopped supporting this printer for Mac OS X from version 10.3 when they still provided a beta driver. This is particularly unfortunate since we are still under contract with Xerox - so we must keep the equipment even if they do not provide updated drivers for it :-(
Although Xerox states that the M24 is not compatible with recent Mac OS X I myself am so far perfectly able to print from my computer running Mavericks. I suppose this happens because I already had the drivers installed and working back in Leopard and then upgraded to Snow Leopard, Mountain Lioin and finally to Mavericks allways keeping the abillity to print to it.
Why am I bothering you since I can print? Because no one else at my office can! Newer Macs and even older that did not previously installed the drivers cannot print since there are no driver installers at all.
Xerox does provide a Global printer driver with limited functionallities but not for Mac, only Windows! :-(
Apple does provide a Mavericks printer drivers package but the Xerox M24 is not included.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Left without options so far I was wondering if it would be accpetable to copy one or more printer/system folders from my computer and bluntly paste them onto my colleagues Macs. If you think this won't create havoc on their system, and that it actually might work can you help me directing me to which folder(s) to copy?

You aren't without options!
I don't recommend copying files.
From the specs from Xerox:
PDLs: PCL6 and PCL5e emulations, optional Adobe® PostScript® 3™
So, first question is do you have the postscript option installed?
If not, no problem - this printer emulates an HP laserjet with the Page Description Language "PCL."
You should try this:
1) in Print & Scan prefs click " + " (add), and select IP printer > HP Jetdirect/socket protocol.
2) Enter the printer's IP address.
3) For driver, select "Generic PCL"
Now, this will only print black & white, but is a good test to see if it works with your Mac.
Report your success.

Pictures appear dark in prints, why?

Recently, I have started printing portfolio books of my images and notice that most images in the printed book are darker (under-exposed) compared to how they appear on my MBP screen. Is there a reason for this and is there a way to ensure that the printed images come out as great as how they appear on screen?

Hi hibhaven -- do you use a hardware calibrator? The only way to get prints to match your images on screen to ensure that you have a completely color-calibrated workflow. This is a common and very much discussed -- and highly technical -- concern. Google will turn up much. The following article is as good a place to start as I know.
Why Are My Prints Too Dark?
I use pretty much the least expensive tools that do the job: an X-Rite ColorMunki Photo spectrophotometer for calibrating screens and building all printer/paper profiles, and NEC monitors and NEC's SpectraViewII software.

*bold*Automated Batch Printing

How do i code automated batch printing.
I had no idea how to start and I had read up most online help on Google but still I can't figure out how to do automated batch printing in Java
I am required to read a folder consists of multiple RTF files.
Its easy to read a single RTF file and print it but how do i read a folder and print everything .
Another problem would be that the printing done should have courier font and alignment in the RTF file however i had tried different way to read and print the data in the RTF file ,which I could only get either courier font with no alignment or not courier font with alignment , i need both of the courier font and alignment to suit an external application RightFax.
Thus I had thought of a way to direct print the RTF files from folder , an example will be the application SilentPrint how can i call the window's or Microsoft's office print services ? or is it even possible for Java?
Thanks a lot if help is provided , at least a little clue of where to start?
or u at least tell me whether is it possible to code automated batch printing in java ? like what SilentPrint can do
