Printing poster sizes in Keynote--HELP

Hi
My clients are creating posters in keynote at 50% of the final poster size. I need to print them at 200% but I can not get them to print that way. The paper comes out the right size but the poster is only at the page size-- such as a 22 x 22 inch poster printed out at 44x 44 inches -- paper is 44x44 but image is only 22x22.

First off, the "crop" function doesn't work the way it does in CS2. The "8 x 10" option is a "ratio", not inches by inches. So it gives you a crop that "can" conform to a 4 x 5 or 8 x 10 ratio print. When you go in to the print dialogue, you are probably making the right selections, but here's what I had to do to get an 8 x 10 inch print on U.S. Letter which is 8.5 x 11. I chose the paper size, then I chose "fit entire image", and "portrait". Then, since the image I want would be .5 inches less than the total width of the page, I had to divide that in half (.25 in) and move the margins slider to that setting. Then I got an 8 x 10 inch print. Using A4 the setting would be slightly different.
I know this is very counter intuitive, and I surely hope they will fix this in the next version of Aperture. But that's how you do it.

    Win 7
I've had HP printers for years now and all of my other printers had a setting in the sofrware that would let you  print poster size prints on multi sheets pf paper you would then tape together. I can't find that on my new printer. I used that setting alot and now find I need it again and I'm not sure what to do??

    Hi Susan,
The Poster printing feature is no longer provided by the latest drivers.
However, you may still use the feature by using an Alternative Driver as a workaroud:
Step One: check the active printer port.
Enter Control Panel > Devies and Printers,
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Ports tab and take a note of the selected port for your printer.
    Step Two: Add Alternative Driver:
Enter Control Panel > Devies and Printers,
    Click Add a Printer.
    Click Add a Local Printer.
Leave the Use Existing Port marked, select the port used for your printer from the drop down box, then click Next.
Click the Windows Update button, allow several minutes to complete the update process till the printers list appear again.
Select HP from the Manufactor Colum
Select HP Deskjet 6940 Series / HP Deskjet 6980 Series, then click Next.
Follow the steps to complete the wizard, then perform the print by using the newly configure printer driver which include the required option.

  • Issues Defining Poster Size in Keynote 09

I use Keynote to print posters of about 4x3 feet size. I used to be able to define and select a custom paper size in Keynote 08 in the page setup menu. When printing the file into a PDF to give it to our printers, this size was maintained, i.e. the poster printed directly from the PDF in the specified 4'x3' size.
Now, in Keynote 09 it seems the page set-up menu is gone. On the print screen, the custom paper sizes I defined earlier appear grey shaded, and cannot be selected. It seems the only size-related variable that one can set in Keynote 09 are the number of horizontal and vertical pixels. Export to PDF seems to always end up in letter sized (or whatever pre-defined sizes can be selected in the print window). Does anyone have an idea how to print (or produce PDFs) with a defined size from Keynote 09? Thanks!

After experimenting a bit, it seems that one can generate a PDF with a desired printing size by entering <dimension in inches>*72 into the 'poster size' field in the 'inspector'. Then using 'share' to export the file as PDF. This appears to preserve the size in the printed document (i.e. when printing on a letter size printer, one only gets a small fraction of the poster).

  • How change poster size in Keynote?

Why will the Inspector *not* let me change the slide size from 4000x3000 pixels to 6000x3000 pixels? (I'm making a poster)

Creating printed end products is not what Keynote does, there is also a size limit for pixel dimensions again because its a screen based presentation application not a print layout application.
Instead use Pages, Word, Indesign, Open Office (or Bean , which is freeware).

  • What is the max poster size in Keynote 6.0?

I want to create a 6 ft by 3 ft poster in keynote (5184 pts by 2592 pts) but it won't let me. I can specify smaller sizes but it bugs me that keynote cannot handle large posters. Is there a workaround?

  • Help! I can only print letter size

I have Photoshop Elements 7, Windows XP, and an HP Photosmart 8250 printer.  When I try to print from the Editor my picture gets truncated to letter size.  My default printer setting is A4.  I can select A4 in Page Setup and click OK.  But if I open Page Setup again it has gone back to letter size.  Please help me.  How can I stop this happening?  (I used to have Photoshop 7 and had no problem.  Now I have Elements and I am having problems!)

Change the paper size to A4 from the page set up dialog box and then print.

  • I cant print custom sizes in photoshop CS3. Please help

I am on my Imac G4 using mac os x 10.4.11. I know that it is not my printer that is the problem. I have been told that I should upgrade to 10.5.x, I have also purchased a new CS3 because I dont have the original copy so I cant reinstall it. The trouble that I am having is that when I try to print custom sizes, the printer defaults back to 8.5x11. Only in photoshop does it do this. Has anyone else had this problem or know what I can do to fix it? I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time. I will check back until this is resolved.

    Russell,
Because your screen shots (they look like you actually shot them with a camera! ) don't show the whole Print Preview panel, I'm not sure at what stage you're losing the paper size, but it's pretty clear that by the time you invoke the printer driver, it's royally screwed up.
    At this point I would:
    • delete the printer from your printer list (in the Printer Setup Utility),
    • re-install a fresh copy of the latest printer driver from the Epson site,
    • then add the printer back in.
This is the kind of consistency you should be seeing (Command Click on each thumbnail to open the full-size image in a new web browser tab) [NOTE: this is CS4 running in Tiger 10.4.11):

  • I need help printing custom size w/ In Design

    I am new to InDesign.
I have both and Epson R300 and an Epson 1400.
I cannot create custom sizes to print with InDesign. I have a custom sized page (8.75W x 5.625H).
I want to set that size up in my print options but the custom print capability is grayed out on both my R300 and 1400. I'm guessing it's a driver issue?
In the past I've only ever printed on standard sizes but I thought for sure my 1400 would let me print irregular sizes.
Is this a printer issue or am I missing something with InDesign? Is there anything I can do to print this custom size with my printers?
    Thanks.

I've discovered that if I use Format for > Any Printer in the Page Setup dialog, the Custom Page created isn't grayed out, and I can access it from the Paper Size selection.
But it doesn't seem to change the actual page area printed to, to the required .25 on top, even though I created a Custom Page of .25,.25,.25, .46 for my HP 960c printer, which claims an actual print area as defined by my custom size.
It seems to continue using a predefined .25L, .5T, .25R, .5B for the Letter Size paper selection.
One piece to the puzzle, responding a year or so late?

  • How to allow domain users to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences

    Hi
I am able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences in admin login but not able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domian users login...
can I have a solution to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domin user login

WOW! I was amazed to see that within minutes of posting my initial thread, I tried something that works.
Apparently, the only way is will actually convert is if you select the regular Print option in the File tab. Then, change the Printer to Adobe PDF & the Paper Size to 11x17. It also worked for 36"x48" becuase I created a custom size named "Poster", so I changed the paper size to Poster & it worked!
I hope this helps someone. I searched for an existing forum on this issue off & on for MONTHS before creating this thread. If anyone has any suggestions why the Adobe PDF tab /PDF Maker wouldn't work, I'd like to know.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7590, can't print legal size

I am trying to print legal size documents from Open Office (can't) and from GIMP, (can't) on my MacBook Pro, OSx (10.6). I have changed page format to legal, changed default page size for printer to legal, changed page setup everywhere I can find a place to change it, and still, it will only print letter size. What is going on? (Open Office 3.21, GIMP 2.6). I have reinstalled printer driver twice, and all updates that I can find.

Hey there. Have you changed the destination paper size to legal inside the paper handling menu? Here is what I mean:
    1. Open Printer menu
    2. Select the Paper Handling option
    3. Check Scale to fit paper size, also use the drop down "Destination Paper Size" to choose legal.
Let me know if this helps at all

  • PDF Printer Page Size Limitation

I have been creating documents in Microsoft Publisher 2007 & have been trying to convert them to PDF via the Acrobat PDF Maker. When I am dealing with 11x17 & Poster size (36"x48"), the PDFMaker gets into the Converting Process (60%) then displays the following option:
PDF Page Size in Adobe PDF printer is small causing pages to be split.
Press OK to convert without preserving transparency, bookmarks & links.
Press Cancel to choose a bigger sheet (at least 17.00 by 11.00 inches)
I hit cancel & have changed every Page Size option I can find including:
the Change Conversion Settings, in the Adobe PDF tab in Publisher
Conversion Settings: (Created custom setting with default page size)
Printers & Faxes in Control Panel
    Adobe PDF Printer
    Printing Preferences
Changed default settings & page size
I even changed the output paper 11x17
Yet, it never fails to try to convert everything into letter size. It seems as though it won't do anything over Letter size.
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard & running Windows XP.
    PLEASE HELP!

  • Print Different Sizes Images

I use CS5 / 64bit and print on a Epson 3880 printer.  I sell my images at art shows & hops.  I shoot all image in RAW, on a Nikon D80.  I process all images first in CR.  When in CR I do not use the Crop Tool but do use most the other available tools.  I am able to process 80% of images corrections, in CR and the balance in Photoshop CR5.  I sharpen all image with PhotoKit 1.2.  I save all my processed images, in a Master Image (MI) file that can be accessed through Bridge or Photoshop.  The smallest image I sell is a 5x7 and the larges is 17x22.   How do I print different size picture image from the MI and keep resolution between 200 - 300 ppi, one per page to meet the demands for my customers.

  • How do I get slides to print full size? They are currently printing with speaker notes

Trying to print my keynote presentation and the slide printouts are being shrunk to appropriate size when using speaker notes. Can someone help me get the settings resized to print full size?

When you select 'print', a dialog box should open & one of the options under 'print' should be 'individual slides'.  This should print the slide as a whole page.

  • Poster design with Keynote

Most people presenting posters at conferences are using Powerpoint. Kinko's and others do accept PPT files for large printing.
Also it is easy to define extra large sizes in PPT for a slide, like 80cm x 120cm.
I didn't find any option in Keynote to design a slide as big.
The slide's size definition in the inspector allows definition in pixel only (hard to convert to cm or inches).
    Any suggestion?
PS: I just tried to create a 80x120 cm slide in powerpoint and import it into keynote. It obviously works and gives a keynote slide of 2268x3401 pixels. I've no idea if it is correct but it sounds to be.
This kind of trick however requires PowerPoint AND Keynote. Not very economic.

You'd be far better off doing a poster in Pages, using a custom page size (specified in Page Layout). This would give you all the same graphics tools as Keynote. Once done, simply export it as a PDF, as any printer will be able to print a PDF.
If you think about, it's pretty weird to use a presentation application to create a print poster, and the reason PowerPoint is used this way is more a testament to the limitations of Word than to its appropriateness as a print layout tool.
