Printing Problem at LOCAL  Printer

Hello guru's,
Through workflow after approval and release of Purchase order, it should print at a LOCAL printer. but it is not happening. Will anyone suggest me the reasons behind that.
Full points for useful solution

Hi,
There're quite a number of steps between release of PO and the piece of paper appearing on the printer.
Has a spool request been created?  What status does the spool request have?  Is there an error log for the spool request?
Is the release happening in a background task or dialog?  If LOCAL is using SAPlpd on the user's PC it won't work in the background.

Nick

  • Counter Sales - Printing Receipt in Local Printer?

    Dear All,
    We have a Counter Sales scenario. We are using Quick Sale Order for that.
    We have around 14 branches in Dubai, Abhudhabi etc.
    When a customer comes to a counter, the sales person will book the order and print a invoice on a preprinted stationary in a dot matrix printer which will be located in each counter.
    Our issue is the time consumption of printing in the local printer as the every time a request is run, it will go to the server and comes back.
    For example, when a person in Abhudhabi prints a Receipt, the request will come to Dubai ( Since the server is in Dubai) and will print in the local printer.
    Is there any way to increase the speed of the printing request?
    Regards
    Merlin Rajesh

    The data in the invoice/receipt/order will always have to go from the server to your local printer across the network. Whether direct to your printer from the server, or through your client PC then to the printer.
    If the time consumption was inherently caused by the network, you would probably be having serious performance issues.
    So my guess is that you are submitting a job to the concurrent manager and the time delay is the time from when you submit the request to when the job actually starts (and completes) then spools to the printer, with the main delay being it waiting in the queue of pending requests. Otherwise it may be how long the print requests are taking to run.
    So you need to confirm where problem lies. Check this via the Date Submitted, Date Started and Date Completed on the current request.
    If the time delay is between the Date Submitted and Date Started then you could define a new concurrent manager specifically (and only) for handling the print jobs that are time critical via System Administrator > Concurrent Manager > Define (copy the Standard Manager), and create specialization rules that only include your print concurrent programs (Invoice, Receipt). Then on the work shift, change the sleep seconds down to a low value (say 5 or 10 seconds).
    PS. An alternative way to do this could be to create a "form" or front end component that gives you the report/format you need in real time, and print directory from your local machine ... but thats gonna take more than 5 minutes to create ;-)

  • How to print reports on local printer?

    We are using the rwservlet to print the reports using Oracle reports 10g release 2 report server.
    Is there any way to send the output to local printer directly instead of browser. The output is in PDF format.
    Any suggestion/link will be appricated.

    i have a group of reports, need to print at once. so planning to call the reports one by one from java using rwservlet as below..
    1.http://localhost:7778/reports/rwservlet?server=rep_barcode_frhome2&destype=Printer&printjob=yes&desformat=pdf&report=/tmp/abc1.rdf&cmdkey=abc
    2.http://localhost:7778/reports/rwservlet?server=rep_barcode_frhome2&destype=Printer&printjob=yes&desformat=pdf&report=/tmp/abc2.rdf&cmdkey=abc
    N.http://localhost:7778/reports/rwservlet?server=rep_barcode_frhome2&destype=Printer&printjob=yes&desformat=pdf&report=/tmp/abcN.rdf&cmdkey=abc
    Since it will have many pdf, so want to print directly to local printer to user. they will be accessing through Internet.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Printing problems using a print server

    I am having trouble printing across my local network to some printers. This is a mixed wired and wireless LAN.Lan works fine as the windows machines print with no problems.
    Printing takes place using a Trendnet TE 100-P21 Print Server. This box is connected to my network with a CAT6 cable. It has 2 USB and one Parallel port.
    The Mac can print to the parallel printer with no problem. Installation was easy and painless. It found the other two printers (the USB ones) just as easily, installed drivers, etc. It even knows when they are idle or not.
    _It can print to the HP 6L, which is the only one that has a parallel connection._ (I think that must be important)
    _But it can’t print to the other two, both of which have USB connections._
    Here are the Queue Names that the Mac reported. (In the below notations, P3 denotes the parallel printer port, U1 the first USB port, and U2 the second USB port on the print server.)
    HP6L (parallel)
    URL: dnssd://PS-700AED-P3._printer.tcp.local.
    *Cannon i9900* (USB)
    URL: dnssd://PS-700AED-U1._printer.tcp.local.
    *HP ColorLaserJet 3500* (USB)
    URL: dnssd://PS-700AED-U2._printer.tcp.local.
    Windows machines on the network can print to all three printer with no problem, so we know printers, print server, network and cables work. When hooked up directly to the printer (at least the HP 3500) the Mac can print as well. But not when connected via the print server.
    Eventually the job times out and the HP 3500 spits out a page that reads
    PCL XL error
    System: KERNEL
    Error: IllegalTag
    Operator: Vendor Unique
    Position 8
    Any thoughts?

    I assure you that changing print server will not fix this issue. You MUST have a CUPS driver to print to a non-postscript, not-intended-for-network printer via the standard comm protocols available in OS X and on nearly all print servers. The Gutenprint drivers included by Apple are CUPS drivers, as opposed to the old Mac-style "monolithic" drivers.
    * It is true that using a postscript driver to print to a postscript printer would work for the TrendNet as well as nearly All other print servers. Postscript is the native output (well, along with "packaged postscript" = PDF) of OS X, so a postscript driver IS A CUPS driver by default.
    I hope this helps you avoid the hassle of buying another brand of print server, only to find out out it is the same.

  • How Do I Redirect LPT1 Printer Port to 'LOCAL Printer' in Windows 7

    I have previously redirected LPT1 Port to a 'Network Printer' as well as 'Print Server' with NO PROBLEMS.
    However, I have NOT been able to redirect LPT1 Port to a 'LOCAL' PRINTER. I have already set up:
     - new HP Laser Printer (tested, no problem printing in Windows)
     - the printer is SHARED, shared name is "HPLaser" (tested by viewing Shared Printer Name and Computer Name in DOS)
     - bat file as --> Net
    use Lpt1 \\DkTop1\HPLaser /persistent:yes
       (I checked to ensure the 'Computer
    Name' and the 'Shared
    Printer Name' are correct. Tested by running bat command, no
    error message)
    When printing in DOS and viewing "What's Printing" from Printer Icon,
     - the DOS print job appears immediately as "spooling",
     - then "printing" and "USB001" Port.
    So, it appears to be printing from the DOS application, also
    note NO ERRORS from DOS Program or Windows but it does NOT print.
    The only difference between the 'Local Printer' setup and
    the 'Print Server Printer' setup is,
     the 'PRINT SERVER'
    goes to an "IP Address w/Standard TCP/IP Port"
    and the 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    goes to "USB001 Virtual Printer for . . .".
    IS THERE A PROBLEM in
    SETTING UP THE 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    with 'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port???
    If so, how do I resolve? If not, please note what is the problem(s) and resolution(s). Thanks.

    Hi,
    you install the new printer, which port you choose to use? What do you mean by saying "'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port"
    here?
    As the printer is configured locally, there is no need to redirect the port to it.
    Install a printer
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/install-printer#install-printer=windows-7
    Here for more information:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows-vista/add-or-remove-a-printer
    If possible please take a try to delete the printers holding the Lpt1 port, then reconfigure the local printer following the instructions provided above.
    Hope this may help
    Best regards
    Michael

  • Printing problem - no such printer installed

    Dear sirs,
    today I write to report another issue with printing. It sometimes happen, completely random, that after a print with a printer (no matter which printer) if I select another printer and press "Printer preferences" from your "amazing print dialog"(TM), an alert appear with the message "no such printer" or "no such printer installed" (I use a localized version of PS5 so I don't know the exact message in English, but I'm sure you can understand).
    The solution is to shut down PS5, open it again, open the file again, open the print dialog again, select the printer again, select Printer Preferences again, and it finally works (ok, there is still the number of copies issue, so I have to do the whole process one more time to print correctly).
    Please check this too.
    Don't you have a tool to make debug file to allow you to check what is happening?

    Windows 7 has a built in Problem Step Recorder. You can use that (if you have Windows 7).
    Wait a second you wrote you have Photoshop 5 (PS5)? That is way old software. What Operating System are you trying to run that on?

  • Printing problem on laser printer attached to Windows XP

    Hi,
    I am trying to print a test page on Samsung ML-2510 laser printer connected and shared on Win XP. I have a green dot for this printer in Print & Fax on Mac, all looks cool. But I get the message 'On Hold (Authentication required) with red circle in printer status window on Mac. When I hit 'resume printing of selected jobs' it asks me to enter username and password for XP. I do, I hear the printer starting to print something but no page is printed. I have no problems using this printer from other XP machines.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

    THIS WORKS, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
    I just purchased a vista home premiun computer and was having the same issue making my hp 5150 printer work through a networked xp system that the printer is physically attached to..It now works.. procedure= ( on the vista computer ) remove all old printers and printer drivers from previous attempts.
    Go to this address and download this driver http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?os=2093&softwareitem=dj-46093-3&lc=en&cc=us...  HP_Vista_SF_Ph1.exe ,,click on it and let it install. when it ask if installing a local or network printer  (choose network ) continue install. It may tell u the drivers may not install properly, ( install anyway ) It may again tell you the drivers did not install correctly ( do not fix just keep them installed incorrectly ) now leave the print test page window open.
        Go to add printer wizard and install new printer ( network printer ) add a local port and type EXACTLY the same path to the xp based printer EXAMPLE= \\lisajunk\printer .....finish wizard and print test page...
    I done nothing to the xp computer, my printer and drivers work good on my other networked computers which use xp operating system.
    I believe creating the correct port and having the correct path on the vista machine is the key to making this work. I use xp pro SP1 on an old antique 400mhz gateway that my printer is physically attached to.. You need to make sure the printer is being shared on the machine it is physically attached too.

  • Print problem. trying to print a document in Preview, the start of the text prints half way down the page not at the top of the page?

    Print problems.  Printing out an email the text starts half way down the page.  I tried taking a picture of the text I wanted to print, tried to print from Preview and have the same problem.  If anyone has any ideas I would really apreciate it. Thanks Penny

    One more thing to check:  System Preferences/Print & Scan.  Make sure your printer is set as Default.
    I'm using OS X 10.8 and I don't see Page Setup anymore. If you have access to Page Setup, check to see if there are any adjustments to make there.

  • Printing in the local printer

    Hello all,
    We are converting an SQLForms 3 application(SCO unix DB Server) to web application(10g AS Linux, 9i DB SUN Solaris,10g Forms).
    We have to print a file stored in the AS/DB server in the local machine's printer.Searched a lot but in vain.
    Can anyone suggest a solution..?
    Thanks in advance..
    Jeneesh

    What i had tried, is just very simple,
    1) create a java class, PrintWrapperjava.java as
    package print;
    import oracle.forms.ui.*;
    import oracle.forms.properties.*;
    import java.io.FileOutputStream;
    public class PrintWrapperjava extends VBean
         private static final ID FILECONTENTS = ID.registerProperty("FILECONTENTS");
         private static final ID PRINTER = ID.registerProperty("PRINTER");
         private static final ID PRINT = ID.registerProperty("PRINT");
         private StringBuffer fileContents= new StringBuffer();;
         private String printerName;
         public boolean setProperty(ID id, Object value)
    try
    {  if (id == FILECONTENTS)
    fileContents.append(value.toString());
    System.out.println("File Contents : " + value.toString());
    return true;
    else if(id==PRINTER)          {
         System.out.println(" PRINTER : " + value.toString());
         printerName = value.toString();
    return true;
    return super.setProperty(id, value);
    catch (Exception e)
    {   e.printStackTrace();
    return false;
    public Object getProperty(ID id)     {
         if (id == PRINT) {
              try{
                   FileOutputStream printerOutput = new FileOutputStream(printerName);
                   byte[] toByteArray = fileContents.toString().getBytes();
                   printerOutput.write(toByteArray);
                   printerOutput.flush();
                   printerOutput.close();
                   fileContents = new StringBuffer();
                   return (Object) "Printing Success";
                   catch(Exception e)     {
                   System.out.println("Exception has occured " + e.getMessage());
                   return (Object) "Printing Failure due to : "+ e.getMessage();
    return super.getProperty(id);
    2) Create a jar, and then sign it.
    3) From forms,
    you need to supply, the fileContents and the printerName, and Print, event will trigger the action.
    like
    1) create a bean area, set its impl class as print.PrintWrapperjava
    2)
    set_custom_property('BN_PRINT',1,'FILECONTENTS',v_file_contents);
    set_custom_property('BN_PRINT',1,'PRINTER',v_share_printername_wrt_client);
    v_msg := GET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('BN_PRINT',1,'PRINT');
    message(v_msg);
    message('');
    This has lots of limitations.. but could serve as just a starting point.
    All the best !!

  • Printing Problem on Canon Printer

    Hi Gurus,
    Greetings and Thanks in advance!
    I have problem in Invoice printing on new Canon LBP 2900 B printer. Whenever I print on this printer the one character from right side does not print. Whereas if the same printing we are doing on HP Laserjet printer it comes perfectly.

  • How to print in a local printer

    Hi, i was wondering if is there an option to show the button that allow the user to select the local printer to print the report generated by de JSP viewer. I only can print the report via PDF and that's not a good solution for my project. Can you help me, i'm new in crystal reports for Eclipse, i used to work with it in visualbasic and i only had to select the buttons to appear in the report navigation bar.

    I'm trying to implement use of the ActiveX control but get an error message in compiling my jsp (which compiles & runs otherwise):
    code snippet:
    crystalReportPageViewer.setPrintMode(CrPrintMode.ActiveX);
    compile error:
    CrPrintMode cannot be resolved
    I get the same error message regardless of whether I spell ActiveX this way or all upper case (as some examples show).
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • How can I fix a printing problem: message cannot print document: "no pages selected to print" when printing a pdf file.

    I am having problems printing a pdf document. When I select a file to print and try to print it says that "no pages selected to print". The default all pages was selected by me but the message keeps coming up. I recently installed adobe reader version 11. Rebooted the computer but sitll having issues printing docs.

    Hi Pat.
    Yes, both of them lead to the very same error.
    I have a workaround, kind of, where I preview the document and select all the pages that are correct (read showing on the pages preview) as included in the 1st screenshot.
    As you can see in the first screenshot, the 5th page seems to be non-existandt, however as I try to preview it from the 3rdP software, it comes up just fine and from there I can print it individually... just annoying when you have 50 pages and 6 of then are randomly not showing up.
    If I try to print the whole document, it simply gives me the 2nd, 3rd and 4th screenshots.
    As for the 3rdP software, as stated in prior posts, it has been working flawlesly for the last 5 years, and has not been updated in any way, shape of form... As you said, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to look into that, however I don't believe the contract for the software maintenance is still in effect...
    Thanks.
