Printing problem with Adobe Reader

Hello,
I have a user who has XP and is having issue printing from reader. She had 9.0 but uninstalled it and downloaded the most recent reader but she still cannot. Strange thing is that it affects her at both of her offices. We have roaming profiles and she has the same issue at both sites where as I can login and print a pdf just fine.
What actually happens is that she opens the document just fine but if she clicks file>print reader will lock up. It will not show the print properties or even get far enough to send the print job and this only affects adobe reader and not any other program like work to print.
It sounds like its something with her profile but I wanted to find out if anyone else has seen this or has an idea of what might be causing the issue. Thank you!

I need some help on printing with Adobe Reader X:
we use Multi Funktional Printer from HP, they have some finishing options like Booklet Printing or stapling.
when printing 1 copy of a document it is attached correctly, at 2 copys of a document (stapled or booklet), the documents stapled together.
With Adobe Reader 9.4 it was working fine, since Update on 10.0 / 10.0.1 we have the error on 2 or more copys of a document they are stapled togehter, so they are useless!

I have the same issue. I searched and found your April 18 post. Since it has not been answered, I posted my own also.
Maybe one of us can get the answer.

Printing problem with Adobe Reader 10.1.9

I received a PDF document that I opened in Adobe Reader. The document contains a pop-up note (which contains a scanned image of a signature). When I print the document, the pop-up note signature is not printed. How can I print the document with the pop-up note containing the signature?

I'll add that we are running Apache webserver. I will post the documents to an IIS webserver and test the results. Also the following is the simplest of html pages to recreate the problem. I am simply testing this running it as a static page off of my desktop yet with the PDF documents hosted on the apache server.

Printing problem with Adobe Reader 8.1.1 on Gutsy

Hello,
I have installed the new Adobe Reader 8.1.1 as a deb from Adobe site?
It is fast and works nicely except for printing where there is a problem :
Acroread always seems to print in portrait - this happens whether I have "Auto rotate and centre" option selected or not.
Evince has no problems printing the same document.
Obviously I am not the only one getting this problem :

Printing problems with Adobe Reader 11.0.08

Hi !
When I try to print a document, after having selected a printer, everything looks fine, however nothing is printed.
There is no error message, the printing simply goes to nowhere.
With other programs, e.g. word there is no printing problem.
Maybe there is a problem in conjunction with Winows 7.
Can somebody help me on this topic ?

Problem printing patterns with Adobe Reader 9

Hello all
We have a mix environment of Windows 7/Vista with Adobe Reader 9.2 and Windows XP/2k with Adobe Reader 8.1.7. Documents including charts with patterns created with the option Save as PDF from Word 2007(SP2) look and print fine with Adobe Reader 8, but the same documents look and print the patterns a lot more compressed with Adobe Reader 9. All computers print to the same printers with the same print drivers (a windows print server). Attached is a sample PDF file. I've installed Adobe Reader 9.2 also on Win2k and WinXP computers with the same results, so the problem doesn't come from the OS.
Any idea on what's wrong with Adobe Reader 9? Is it a configuration problem or defaults changed in Adobe Reader 9?

You need to use Adobe Acrobat; Adobe Reader does not support editing.

Continued problems with Adobe Reader 9.3.1

Adobe Reader stops at the half-way mark in the progress block when loading a form to print. Cannot get this fixed. Does anyone out there have a fix for this. Is Adobe even recognizing that there is a problem with this. Error message keeps telling me that there is a problem with Adobe Reader, exit and try again.

I haven't been able to print any .pdf files since I downloaded 9.3.
My message says Internet Explorer has closed it down because of data executable files. I've changed my DEF settings to allow
Adobe Reader but it still doesn't work. I never had any problems before with newer versions.

Default printer problems with adobe 10.1.2

I was having problems printing PDFs since upgrading to 10.1.2. After reading and trying many recommendations, I happened to notice that my default printer(I have only one printer) was listed twice on the print window. The first (default) printer is spelled "HP PSC 2350 series" (upper case 'PSC') The second is "HP psc 2350 series" (lower case 'psc') . The printer is named 'HP psc 2350 series' in my printers and devices, and if I select this printer, the page will print perfectly. Now that I have solved my printing issue, I would like to change the default setting on the adobe print window to come up as the active link, so I don't have to continue to select a different printer everytime I wish to print a document. The printer by the lower case "psc" name is set as the default printer in printers and devices, and I cannot figure out why it doesn't come up as the default printer on the adobe reader print window. I also cannot figure out how to change the default in the print window.   An added interesting fact is that I get no response in the print window when I try to select "preferences' or 'advanced' for the upper case 'PSC' printer.
My computer runs in Windows 7 (64-bit). The printer is HP psc 2355xi all-in-one. Any suggestions are much appreciated

I have not been able to select a different default printer for Adobe, but I can print if I manually select the correct link everytime.

I am having the same issue.The correct printer is selected as the default printer on the control panel and there is no driver with the lowercase convention.However, the first printer option that appears is the lowercase convention. Is there any way to select a default printer for specifically for Adobe, as opossed to the PC itself?

Problem with adobe reader, commenting

one of our authors is using adobe reader x 11,1, and I send him a pdf (enabled commenting and measuring), but for some reason the commenting-fields does not show on his screen?
should I save the pdf in another way?

What do you mean by "commenting fields" exactly? By “commenting filds” I mean the tools in top of the page – delete, highlight etc. When I send the pdf, I save it as “file - save as - reader extended pdf – enable commenting and measuring”, otherwise the commenting tools normally don’t appear by the author.
Are they existing comments? no, it is the text in his pdf-book he needs to correct

You can try sending a non-enabled version since Reader 11 can add comments to a non-enabled document. will try that J

Might be some problem with adobe reader. You may Google another pdf app called pdf plus. Install it and see if the problem is solved or not.

After migration to Adobe Reader 11.0.06 our users are complain about long printingtimes with PDF documents.
What i have done:
Test printing two different documents from local storage an network (dfs,nfs) - notice the printingtime in our environment depends not on used storage!
1. 310 pages document with text (7,023KB)
Adobe Acrobat XI on Samsung ML-451x 501x Series driver Version 3.11.39.00.58.01
Average 52 seconds (done 5 same printjobs with same dokument) to print document in spooler.
Change printer to:
Adobe Acrobat XI on Samsung CLP-770 Series PCL6 Version 3.10.57:76
Average 46 seconds (done 5 same printjobs with same dokument) to print document in spooler.
2. 4 pages document with grafics (4,438KB)
Adobe Acrobat XI on Samsung ML-451x 501x Series driver Version 3.11.39.00.58.01
Average 45 seconds (done 5 same printjobs with same dokument) to print document in spooler.
Change printer to:
Adobe Acrobat XI on Samsung CLP-770 Series PCL6 Version 3.10.57:76
Average 39 seconds (done 5 same printjobs with same dokument) to print document in spooler.
Befor migration we have Server 2003 SP2 and XenApp 4.5FR6 with Adobe Reader 9.5.5
I did the same testing but the time to print was much faster!
1. 15 Seconds to print 310 pages document
2. 28 seconds to print 4 pages document with grafics
Any ideas to make printing faster on WindowsServer 2008R2 with Adobe Reader?
Next step is testing the old version from reader on 2008R2 but on security aspects is this not the way...

Printing problems with adobe 9

I have a problem with printing in adobe 9, When a pdf is sent to the printer it only prints 1 page, so if I try to print a 6 page pdf file it will only print page 1. Also if I try to print double sided it only prints single sided, It's like it only recognises the first page of the pdf. I have uninstalled adobe 9 and reinstalled adobe 8 which works fine. I need to have 9 installed and working. The printer I am trying to print to is Utax Colour CDC 1520 printer. Any help would be appreciated.

A client of my employers has been repeatedly encountered one of these problems when printing from Adobe Reader 9, where the "ERROR: undefined"and "OFFENDING COMMAND:" messages are displayed near the top of one of the pages in the print output. This has only been detected recently, and definitely did not happen 6-8 months ago when they installed the software, which uses Adobe InDesign Server, to generate the PDF's.
They encountered it first when printing a specific PDF document from Adobe Reader 9.0.0 to a Canon IRC4080I. It also occurred after upgrading to Adobe Reader 9.1.0. To rule out a possible problem with the document, they retrieved some PDF's that were made in January of this year, which must have been able to be printed out at that point in time, and tried to print them from Adobe Reader 9.0.0 using the Canon printer. The same error occurred.
In order to narrow down the problem, they tested printing the same document with Adobe Reader 8 (not sure which minor version) on Windows XP, printing on the same Canon printer and it worked successfully.
They then upgraded that machine's Reader to 9.0.0 and found that the error occurred when printing the same document from that machine then. They also tried with version 9.1.0 and this did not rectify the problem. However, after reading the KnowledgeBase advice at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403914.html I suggested that they try printing the same document on a different model of printer (an HP printer, not sure which model) and it printed successfully.
Further evidence suggesting a print driver problem was provided by the fact that we cannot reproduce it in the office where I work on either of our two types of printer, which are Epson Stylus Photo R200 and Samsung ML-1200: printing the same document in Adobe Reader v.8.1.3 and 9.1.0 on Windows Vista and 9.1.0 on Windows XP to those printers has not produced the error message.
Although I have been liaising with our client's IT support and recommending some of the configuration solutions that have been posted in this thread, my concern is that our client sends out PDF-format documents for advertising purposes to their clients, and that it is not acceptable to them to accompany the PDF with detailed instructions on how to configure drivers to make it print - the end client may simply not bother.
If Adobe are reading this, I wonder whether they could let us know whether they are developing a compatibility fix to Reader, or whether this problem is better raised with the printer manufacturers, in this case Canon, to encourage them to make their drivers compatible?

Duplex Printing Problem in Adobe Reader X (Mac)

My normal printer setting is for duplex printing. However, Adobe Reader X will only print on one side of the paper.. This is on a MacPro under Mac OSX 10.6.6 and Adobe Reader X Version 10.0.1 printing to a Canon IP4500 inkjet printer. Other applications duplex fine.
Any one else with this problem? Fixes or workarounds?

After having the problem / aggravation, I went through each area trying to
learn how to get past it. Finally, I checkmarked 3x "Don't Show Me This Again"
Then I established a default printer thereby forcing Adobe to retain print preferences
instead of defaulting to "Any Printer" and losing custom settings
STEPS I TOOK (you may know of something faster, easier?)
CTRL P or File, Print to receive standard print dialogue
Within "Printer:" use drop down to select "PRINT & FAX Preferences...."
Note: You can set print & fax preferences thru System Preferences, but for
now we're here
Select the printer you will normally use and set up a default printer (for Adobe)
If the Lock at bottom left is closed it will require the system admin ID and PWD
to unlock/lock in order to make changes :-)
Once finished close this (top left)
You will be returned to this panel
To the right of the "Printer:" drop down is the arrow that expands your options,
make sure it is aiming UP
Middle of screen is "Layout" Select the drop down and select "Two-Sided Printing"
Look at the next screen image posted below and you will see there's more steps to
follow for two sided printing
Check mark "Print Both Sides"
By Re-Opening the Drop down now showing "Two-Side Printing", you can of
course adjust other items while here
Paper Type/Quality allows you to select items such as print quality, color settings
Select "Print" (bottom right of screen) to return to Adobe Reader Print Page
Save time by opening the "Presets:" dropdown and save this as a custom print setup name
i.e. grayscale_DblSided, Color_DblSided...
Finally, Check Mark "Reverse Pages" to print Back to Front and help Adobe
not to print a single sided first page and double sided pages for the others... Nice!
It's time to press "OK" and hover over the printer to ensure Adobe didn't send
instructions to print your 100 single side pages despite all best efforts
Since going through this rigamarole I have not had to reset it every time

Print to xps-printer problem from Adobe Reader 11.0.06

Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Add XPS printer (using new local port and Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4)
2. Open a pdf file in Adobe Reader XI (11.0.06.70)
3. Choose command Print
4. Choose XPS printer
5. Click print
Results: nothing happend
Expected results: The xps file must have been created in this location
p.s. In previous version (11.05) 'File save as' window appeared and I could save file as XPS format.

We have the same problem !
Tested this today with adobe reader 9.5.x , file is attached as "filename.do.pdf"
If we use adobe reader 11.0.x file is attached as "filename.do"
If you use save file as , it does get the "pdf" extension automatically
Solution appreciated !
