Printing problem with Airport printer

Hi,
I am having problems getting my daughter's G4 Macbook to print with Airport Extreme. The history is:
1. Set up my iMac, Airport Extreme, all well, both G4 and iMac fine over wireless.
2. Added HP Photosmart 8150 to Airport. Worked fine for iMac
3. Added it to Macbook, no go
4. Discovered that I had not actually added it to Macbook. At some point in the past, to allow printing for my daughter we had done a direct USB connection for her, and it was that we were trying to print to. But, it was there via Bonjour as a third printer when I looked.
5. Tested it from the MacBook. Graphic fine, but no text. However, v. pushed for time so no further testing.
6. Daughter tested, no good
7. Looked at all 3 printers on Macbook. 2 x USB (1 8150 plus one other from her University), plus the Bonjour 8150.
8. Decided that installing the same printer twice might be a problem. So deleted all three.
9. Now I can't install. When I go to add a printer the Macbook can't see any. Have downloaded drivers, but to no avail. Have tried as many combinations as I can in drop downs.
Basic Airport connectivity for the G4 is fine - internet functions no problems, no dropped connection etc.
Any thoughts? I am a Mac newcomer, ex PCs, pretty techno-literate.
p.s. Have reset print queues etc

HP Color Laserjet 3600 Printing Problems with Airport Extreme & JetDirect

I have a HP Laserjet 3600n connected via ethernet cable to our Airport Extreme base station using the built-in JetDirect functionality of the printer. Prior to installing Snow Leopard we had no problems and every computer on the home network could see and print with full functionality on the printer.
After installing Snow Leopard, it took a while but I got the printer working again with the same setup. Then we had a power outage and the printer was no longer visible on the network or in the airport settings. Again it took a while but I once again got it to work. But now it seems like it keeps falling off the network and the printer itself either shows an IP address of 0.0.0.0 or another random one. The IP address should be generated by DHCP by the airport.
I don't know if this is a problem with Snow Leopard, the airport extreme, or the printer. The way I got it to work the last couple times no longer fixes the problem. Someone please help.

I don't know if this is related, but...
My MacBook Pro (Airport) has always been dicey connecting to an HP LaserJet 4000 on my wired LAN. Before Snow Leopard, I used AppleTalk rather than IP printing because it just worked.
But Snow Leopard doesn't support AppleTalk any more, so I reinstalled the printer to connect via JetDirect (which supposedly provides more features). When it works, it works fine. But very often I get a message that it can't connect to the printer. The only thing I've found that fixes the problem is power-cycling the printer, which somehow enables queued jobs to print. Needless to say, this gets old.
Is there some trick I'm missing?

Printer problem with Airport Utility and Epson CX5500

Hi,
I recently bought an iMac '24 2.66 Computer and was able to set up my internet through an airport. When it came to hooking up a wireless Epson CX5500 printer, the airport recognized it, but when it came to print in the printing queue it simply wont print. I was able to find a very helpful post that would possibly be my next step in fixing it (probably just a program error or hook up)

The problem that i have is the step by step process of altering this or finding it. As i made the name of the shared printer EPSONStylusCX5500 but could not acess the printer name one to change it. The url link still shows the 20%. If someone could please take the time to explain on how to do it, then maybe just maybe, i would be able to print wirelessly. Any other ideas or even cheap printers that would work without a problem as i would simply go out and buy one instead. Thanks.

What does not work? Can you open up AirPort Utility and take us through the steps? What happens after each step?

PSE 9 printing problem with Epson printer

I am using PSE 9 with Windows XP and Epson 3880 printer. I have re-installed all programs/drivers a couple of times. PSE9 Printer dialogue will not let me print choosing "Let Photoshop Manage Colour". It will only let me print with "Let Printer Manage Colour". I am using Epson papers.
When I select "Let Photoshop Manage Colour", a box appears saying "ICC profile no longer available" and it won't let me print. Is this a PSE 9 problem or an Epson problem?

Well, I actually found the answer. I spoke to an Epson Rep!
I used to have the Epson 2200 printer, then the Epson 3800, and now I use the 3880 printer on Windows XP and Windows 7 on my laptop.
When you uninstall the other 2 printers, the color profiles are still in your program files and can become corrupted.
This is why, in PSE 9, when I checked the box Let Photoshop Elements Manage Colour, it woildn`t print and instead there was the pop-up box ``ICC profile no longer available`` because it was trying to access the old paper profiles and not the ones that came with the 3880. I use Epson papers, by the way.
The solution was to go into C-Drive, Program Files, System 32, spool,drivers, colour, and this opens to the ICC profiles used by the printer. Then I deleted the old paper profiles associated with my former printers.
And it worked !!

Printing problems with new printer

I printed out two different InDesign documents last week with my ailing Epson R260 inkjet printer and everything printed fine (with the exception of the printer head problems with the R260).
I purchased and installed a new Epson Artisan 50 (which is supposedly the successor to the R260) today, and when I print out the same documents the images and text are reduced in size by about 1/3 and part of the page is not printing. I have made no changes to the InDesign files so I don't understand why I am having this problem. Hope someone can help.

From ID's print dialog, have you entered the Artisan's Advanced Features (the Setup button at the botton of the Print dialog). The doc could be calling up info from the last printers features.
Also, the drivers on that CD could be old, always check for Driver Updates from the manufactures site when installing anything.

Adobe reader XI: doule sided print problem with network printer (windows 8 pro)

Hi, I'm facing a problem with my old printer, the xerox phaser 3160n. It was connected to my notebook through network connection, and everything works well with Adobe X /Win 7 OS (including the double side print, of course) last month, I have upgraded my NB to windows 8 with clean install
clean install my printer driver for windows 8 too, and Adobe reader XI was also downloaded through official website.
However, since I was about to use double sided print in Adobe reader XI (11.00.02) it couldn't obey the order, but just print one side as usual
I have checked the "option" of my printer, and it was correctly set to "double-sided print". I have tried word 2013 to open the same pdf, and choose the same "double-sided print" and it works perfectly.
Is this problem a bug? and would it be corrected in the next update version??
(I remeber I've saw a similar issue too, with network printer, but I couldn't find it)

Meanwhile, after insatlling the latest driver for printer from the manufacture website, restart the spooler service as a test.
Start > Run > cmd and type "net stop spooler" after that "net start spooler" or start > run > service.msc and restart it over the GUI.
Run Printer Troubleshootor under Action Center\Troubleshooting\Programs\Printer, and check if it helps.
And yes, the manufacture should have more sence about the printer, it's recommended to contact them.

Print Problems with 3600n printer

I am having problems printing certificates with a 3600n color laserjet printer. The certificate blanks are cardstock thickness and have a foil emblem embossed on the upper portion of the certificate. When I print a certificate out, I often get a red "ghost" of the emblem directly below the emblem on the certificate. I imagine the "ghost" is caused by heat transference from the emblem.
I set both the computer and printer control settings for cardstock before printing. Other than the ghost image, the print quality is quite good.
Of note, I use a PC, loaded with Windows Vista 32 bit OS. I print the certificate from Word, and load the certificates in through tray 1 - the manual feed tray. Thanks in advance for any assistance or solution provided.

Embossing , especially with foil, may be an issue on LaserJet printers. The foil may be pulled of, adhere to the heated fuser roller, may attract toner, and result in ghosting. Unfortunately, there isn't any way around this, since all LaserJets use a heat and pressure to melt/adhere the plastic toner particles to the media.
Additional info can be found in the Print Media Guide (link below). While it doesn't call out foil media in particular, I suspect this is what is causing the issue.

Printing problems with CS3- Prints dont match what is on screen

My prints dont match what i am seeing on the screen when using CS3. I am using windows xp and printing on a epson 7800. I never had this problem before i started using CS3. I have calibrated my monitor.
I have the standard version of CS3 not the extended.
I read a arctical that CS3 prints darker then what is on your screen. The solution if you have CS3 extended is to increase lightness just before printing, but what if you dont have the extended version, what do you do?
I couldnt find this topic on the forum here. I am sure others must have had this problem too. What is my solution?

There are a bunch of things that can affect the difference between what you see on screen and what you get in print. It is not enough to just look at calibration. Calibration is a starting point. Here are some things that may affect your result:
* Your monitor type
* Your PC type (laptops may not be best for image correction)
* Your calibration device
* The lighting in the area you work in
* Choices made while calibrating
* Proper setup for using the ICC profile (e.g., you aren't running conflicting software)
* Proper color management setup
* Smart choice in color space / working space selection
* Sensible choices for any other color management changes (if any)
* Careful use of on screen proofing settings
* Sensible choice for color management in capture (on camera or with scanner)
* Smart use of color profiling
* Good choice of printing materials / inks (as applicable)
* Good choice of equipment for printing
* Proper maintenance of printing equipment
I'm probably missing a few there, but I'll work on it. The best scheme I think is to keep things as simple as possible. Especially if you are having trouble, eliminate variables. When you get things working as you expect, then you can try to get a little more fancy. However, every variable you add will come with drawbacks in one form or another. Freeagent seems to make some sense here...

Canon ip5200r wireless printing problems with Airport Extreme

I have been been printing from my iBook G4 (OS 10.3.9) using my Canon ip5200r connected to my wireless network for a couple of months without any problems. Yesterday it stopped working. When I called Canon for support, they say the problem is that my Airport Extreme is assigning different IP addresses to my computer and printer despite both being on the same network. I am not sure if it is relevant but the only recent change in my system is that earlier this week, I had a new high-speed internet modem installed. Can anyone help with this?

Printing Problems with Airport

I have an Airport Extreme with an HP Deskjet printer hooked into the USB. Printing from laptops was no problem at one time. One day, for no reason I'm aware of, it started printing only parts of pages and then generating an error. I can print from Macs and PCs with no problem when connected directly to the printer. I tried resetting the Airport to factory specs and reinstalling the drivers using Bonjour Printing Wizard on PCs, but there was no change. This has been going on for a long time, so all the obvious stuff has already been tried (checked the cables, cycled the power, etc.) Is there anything else I can try? Thanks.

Printing Problem with Local printer

Hi Experts,
My clients has installed new HP LaserJet p2015dn printer in SAP.
I have used the font "HELVE" in my sap script, when i take the printout with HP leser jet 1022N it gives correct printout. where as when i take the printout with local (HP LaserJet p2015dn) Printer it give the printout in unreadbale format (no spaces between each alphabet)
I can change the font and solve this proble but i have used same font in many forms and the client wish to take the printout with newly installed printer only.

Windows 8 printing problem with 2575 printer

My Photosmart 2575 printer worked ok with windows XP on my old Dell computer. On my new Lenovo Windows 8 computer using the usb printer connector there is a problem.
When I try to print a word document it prints the first 6 to 8 lines of the document and then displays "printing" and hangs, so I have to cancel the print. When I re-try the printing, it again prints 8 or so lines of the documentand, ejects the paper and says "out of paper". When I reload the paper it prints the document successfully.

I read about the troubles you are now having when trying to print from your Photosmart 2575 to your Windows 8 system. I sure hope I can help you through this obstacle and have you printing again!
I would first like to mention the error message you see when trying to print. Here is the troubleshooting guide to work through the "Out of Paper" error, please try all the steps:
HP Deskjet, Photosmart, and PSC All-in-Ones - 'Out of Paper' Error Message and the Printer Does Not ...
Hopefully you can print without the error message however, if you see it again, run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results.
Please write back with the outcome and also the results from running the PSDr.

Printing problems with HP printer

We've recently got a new HP Color LaserJet CP3525x printer at the office and the printer will not let me print out Two-Sided, saying OFF (in the Layout menu). Can I download something to make it work. It worked with the old printer!
