Printing problem with InDesign and Acrobat

I've just purchased Adobe Creative Suite 3 but cannot print A4 or A3 landscape from inDesign3 or Acrobat to either the Aculaser2600 or SytlusPro 3800. Illustrator and Photoshop has no problem. It prints but in the corresponding portrait print area
Any suggestions

The fonts won't print after the InDesign doc has been turned into a pdf. It will print on some printers but not the large volume in our print room.

You need to provide an awful lot more information that what you have provided to us in order for us to assist you.
What version of InDesign? What OS? What PDF presets? What printer (brand and model) is it failing on? It the printer a direct PDF printer or are you printing to PostScript via Acrobat or even something else? What fonts won't print? Error messages? An example?

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 running on OS 10.6

I recently upgrade my old G4 Mac (OS 10.4) to a new Mac Mini running OS 10.6.6. I am still running CS3 and have encountered only one problem. When I print multiple copies documents from InDesign that contain several layers, each copy is processed separately, so that it can take several minutes just to send the print job to the printer if I'm printing over 20 copies. Then once the print job is processed the printer pauses between every copy, which is tripling the printing time. If I print a simpler document with only one or two layers it processes all the copies at once, as it should. I am printing on an Okidata 6150 color laser printer.
I never had this problem on my old computer. I'm wondering if this is one of the "unsupported" bugs of running CS3 on Snow Leopard. I want to make sure that this is a problem unique to running CS3 with Snow Leopard before I go ahead and upgrade to CS4 or CS5.

    Hi again Peter
It is version 5.0.4.  I updated it when I newly installed it a week ago in my new computer, and then again updated it just yesterday.
I might mention that before I got my new computer, I was running Mac OS 4.11, and was using InDesign 3.0.  I had bought InDesign CS3 about a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to using it since version 3.0 had been working fine, and I was used to it.  Then, when I got my new computer, I decided it was time to use the newer version.  However, while using InDesign 3.0 with the old Mac OS 4.11, a printing problem popped up there, too, a few months ago... and it also involved printing problems with Adobe Reader.  I contacted Adobe, and they sent me a patch which fixed it.  I will contact Adobe again if need be, although I thought I'd start here first to see if it was a common enough problem that someone might be able to provide a free and routine answer.

notice that Mac OSX 10.6.4 has just been released. It actually
addresses some CS3-specific issues, though they seem to be related to
launching the apps, not printing. It may be worth trying to update,

  • Printing Problems with PDF - Adobe Acrobat

    Printer - HP Deskjet 3070A
Laptop - Asus Zenbook running Windows 7 Home Premium
Issue: Printing problems with PDF (Adobe Acrobat Reader)
    Dear All,
    Please help!
My printer was working absolutely perfectly until my brother in law recently needed to borrow my printer. He plugged in his laptop running Windows 8 (awful thing that is). Since he did this to print his own PDF, I cannot print mine.
Although all the text will appear on the page perfectly both in the document view and on actual printing, it appears that some of the transparent formatting stuff on a PDF - such as boxes you have to fill in and transparent areas (such as you find on glorious tax forms) are omitted completely. In fact, in their place I was getting a single black dot. Now, after uninstalling and re-installing updates for the printer, windows 7, adobe acrobat reader, etc.etc. I get squat. Just all the text laid out but none of the shading or boxes.
I have tried fiddling with the printer settings; the  print as 'photo' option, dpi settings, greyscale - as much as I can think of and I am thoroughly stumped.
In a desperate attempt, I even installed the Universal Printer Drivers - thinking it might have been that. No. All I got was a page of gobbledygook. Consequently, I uninstalled and reinstalled the normal drivers again.
If there are any wonderful people out there with any fabulous ideas about how I can get my shading and boxes back; I'd  very much appreciate it. Sadly I have a tax return to fill out (which is already fabulously late) and need my printer to work!
    Much appreciation in advance x

    Hey there @Reverie!
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I can see that the printer is no longer printing in the correct format after it was plugged into the Windows 8 computer!  You mentioned you have run the updates and uninstalled/re-installed the printer software.  Have you uninstalled and re-installed the Adobe software? Are you getting the same issue from other programs as well? Are you getting the same issues if you are logged in as a different user on the computer?
I have located the HP Update Software Utility that may be able to help.  You can download an run the utility.  It may be able to locate any other updates for the printer.
I would also recommend running a disk cleanup on the computer to clear any temporary files and junk files that may be causing some performance or software issues. If you do not know how to run a disk cleanup on the computer please follow this document regarding Delete files using Disk Cleanup.  It is recommended to restart the computer after a disk cleanup. After the restart try the print job again!
Let me know if that helped and thanks again for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Printing problems with CP1515n and CM1312

I can see from the forum that a lot of people are having problems with printing. My HP CP1515n wouldn't print properly with my new iMAC. Through a lot of complaining to PC World and to Apple we got a resolve with PC world. However my HP CM1312 printer doesn't print correctly the blue colour and makes it mauve. Surely Apple should have got this problem sorted out prior to releasing the new Macs?

Can I just ask what was the resolve you got for your CP1515n printer? I cannot use mine after installing Snow Leopard

  • Printing problem with Pages and iWork

This problem has been troubling me for months. I have an HP OfficeJet Pro K5400 colour inkjet printer. I have installed the latest s/w drivers so it's all up to date as far as I'm aware. The problem is that when printing from Pages - or indeed any iWork application, I select 'normal' print quality and 'plain' paper, but the printer refuses to print in anything other than 'high quality'. Even if I choose 'draft' quality, the printer prints high quality. I print lots of reports and never need 'high quality' besides which it takes 4 times longer to print and uses twice as much ink (and looks dreadful on the paper I use).
Now here is the even odder thing, the printer prints as directed to Office 08, Mail, Safari and Text Edit. But I have the same problem of it ignoring my printing options in iPhoto and iCal. It also works fine from my wife's PC.
HP has been truly hopeless in trying to sort out the problem. I have reinstalled the drivers many times and cleared out all kinds of files as directed by them. The problem originated in November last year when I upgraded to Leopard.
I have installed the following drivers as directed by HP: HPInstaller_OJPK5400v9.7.1, HP v9.7Inkjet OS X 10.5 Update.
Hope someone out there can help.

Perhaps I should invest in another inkjet printer. Are you saying I should avoid HP and Epson? In which case how about Canon? Would that work or are there others you could recommend.
Good question. IMHO there is no reason to reject any particular make and model of inkjet, but there is also no reason to suppose that the supplier will support that make and model beyond its short lifetime which is sort of supposed to be the lifetime of the version of the operating system for which the 'dumb' raster driver was developed. It's just the way it is, unfortunately.
One should purchase the type of printer product that suits one's purpose. For proofing of copy a black and (single colourant) grayscale laser is superior to an inkjet. For proofing of photographs a colour inkjet which is correctly calibrated, correctly characterised, and for which colourants are correctly converted in the colour correction software and pagination software can hit within 1-2 dE of the print on a press operated with automatic colour control.
Sorry to be so unhelpful, but there are four printers and shelves of software here, and it's not simple, unfortunately.

  • Printing Problem with labels and envelopes

I have Microsoft office:mc 2004 and cannot print labels and envelopes. Whenever I ask to print it boots out and states that there is a problem and ask me to report the problem. I have reported it 20 times in the last 2 days with no response from apple. Can anyone give me any input on how to correct this problem? I have a HP laserJet 3050 all in one printer and did not have these problems when I was using a PC with windows. Please help as I am at my last of my patience on this problem. Thanks and please use language I can understand as I am not computer literate on all of the lingo that is being used.

Hi Lilmac, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Have you installed a Printer Driver later than the one that comes on the CD? hp generally includes older ones.
Tough to say with so little to go on, but since it could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.

  • Image printing problem with Photoshop and Lightroom specifically with 11X14 cuts off top of image and moves bottom border up. Windows 7 OS - Epson Printer is working properly.

Have an unprecedented problem with printing 11X14 photos in both PS and Lightroom. The printer is operataing properly. Printing 81/2X11 correctly. Have double and triple checked all the printing settings and they are correct. Have checked with friends to no avail. This problem started yesterday. Widows 7 OS. Need help.

You show the OS receiving an image from Photoshop, and the OS starting the Epson print driver and handing it part of the image, the driver connects to the printer, then the print driver fails. It looks like a bug in the Epson rasterizer, or the printer communication.
You really need to talk to Epson.  Photoshop isn't involved in that error.

  • Printing problems with Elements and iPhoto on OSX 10.5.7

I am having problems with printing photos on my printer (Canon iP4000) since getting the new iMac with OSX (10.5.7) and using Photoshop Elements 6 and iPhoto. The Canon printer driver (and all my other data) were copied to my Mac by the techs at the Apple store from which I purchased the iMac. (I previously had a Mac G4 with OSX 10.4.11 Panther.)
Photos that used to come out crystal clear and brilliant on the printer from the G4, now are faint with kind of a white veil. When I try to print in Elements, I get a message that says "Some PostScript specific print settings (Interpolation, Calibration, Encoding) will be ignored since you are printing to a non-PostScript printer." I really have no idea what that means. Anybody?
Text printing comes out fine, both from word processing documents and web pages. I am using the latest printer driver (4.8.3) for the iP4000 (probably 4 years old or so), and there are no new driver downloads available for it. I trashed the Canon software/drivers and reinstalled, to no avail.
Canon Support has been helpful and have made many suggestions, but none has worked. I tried printing with Canon's EasyPhotoPrint app, and the photos print fine. So the problem appears to be a compatibility of the printer with Elements 6 and iPhoto.
Has anyone else had this experience? Does anyone have an opinion if this means I need to get a new printer? If so, any suggestions on a good, moderately priced one for Leopard on the iMac that will definitely work with Elements 6 and iPhoto?

The v4.8.3 driver she has is the latest version Canon has supplied.
Given the driver is working okay from some other applications, there has to be something amiss with the colour management of iPhoto and PSE6.
For iPhoto, as a test I would suggest the Color Options > Color Correction is set to None to see how this impacts the printed image. Then I would try the BJ Standard and ColrSync settings to see how the output is affected.
During the Color Options trial, ensure the Quality & Media > Media Type is set to the appropriate paper type, such as Photo Paper and the Print Mode be set to Top Quality Photo. With regards to the Media Type setting, some of the paper stocks have a profile associated with them. If you use Photo paper but use the Plain setting, then you will get a washed out print.

  • Printing problems with CS5 and Epson Photo R2880 printer

I'm having problems getting good prints when using Photoshop CS5 with my Epson Photo R2880 printer, problems I never had with CS4. Here's the situation:
If I take a PSD file and print it using CS4, everything works out perfectly. But if I take that same PSD file and print it out using CS5, the print is now offset top to bottom, as well as left to right, along with a 1/8" black strip being printed down the right edge of the paper. As far as I can tell, everything is set the same.
I've compared all the print information found in the Print dialog summary box between CS4 and CS5 and everything appears to be the same. I've verified that I'm using the latest print driver with my printer, and I am. It's 8.27.  I've verified that I've checked off the box to center the print to the paper, each time I've made a print. And in trying to figure out what's going on, I've discovered that this problem occurs with any paper size when using CS5, but not with CS4.
I'm stumped and frustrated and without any more ideas as to what I should do next, except to always print my projects using CS4. If anyone has an idea for me, please let me know! Thanks!
P.s. I'm new at using this forum, and though I thought I sent this out once already, I never saw it posted. If I'm in error and it's already out there, sorry for the mistake and posting it twice.

And no, I don't sell prints for big bux, so whether they are going to last a hundred years is not a concern. Besides, until someone is around long enough to verify those claims, the jury is out. I've got color prints from the wet days that are fading after 20+ years. Third party inks are not necessarily lower quality than OEM. One of the reasons for the development of high quality third party inks was the dissatisfaction of B&W and fine art printers with the OEM products.

I've created a booklet in InDesign and exported it to PDF for my printer. In the PDF file all pages show correctly, until you print.
One page prints blank. It's a full page photo on that particular page. I have tried re-linking, exporting different PDF types, and even dropping a new file in.
My printer is convinced I am trying to sabotage her, how do I get that one page to show up in final printing?

  • Printing problem with cc and cs6 with epson 7890

    Hi everyone,
I am having a serious printing problem. I use CC (14.2.1) and CS 6 (13.0.6) on Mavericks 10.9.1 on an iMac. If I try to make a print on a 24" roll I get an error message: cupsRasterinterpretPDD has an error = page header unsupported values. If I print A2 or A3 sheets everything works fine.
I contacted Epson because I thought it was a printer problem, but they insist it is a photoshop problem. I updated to the latest printerdriver.
Does anyone have any ideas or even better a solution?

I feel your pain, but I don't know the solution, sorry. Our Mac guru who primarily serves designers is not upgrading any of his clients to Mavericks so far, due to printing (and other) issues. Se we're still on 10.8.4 here.

  • Printing problems with Lion and Lexmark T630

I have a Lexmark T630 b/w laser printer with USB and IP connectivity.
With 10.6.8 I could print happily over Ethernet to the printer from iMacs (wired), mini (wired) and MBP (wireless).
With Lion on one of the iMacs and on the MBP I can't print over Ethernet.
The print queue shows a job 'Supply levels' in the print queue and does not print.
The printer is activated and this job appears as soon as I select the print dialog in apps (not actually select 'Print', just opening the print dialog).
I moved the printer to be USB connected to my Airport Extreme and get the same symptoms, except the 'Supply levels'  job prints a single line of symbols (mainly Spanish characters with some other symbols and ending in 2 smileys. It is always the same set of symbols, so I get this one line of junk on a page and then my print  job prints. Note that the T630 has *never* displayed supply levels in any version of the OS.
    The line printed is below.
This always happens from the Lion machines and does not happen from the other iMac which is still running 10.6.8, or from a mini which is connected on another network to the network port of the printer.  The mini is also running 10.6.8.
I have downloaded the latest Lexmark drivers from Apple and also from Lexmark (same version of driver either way) and it makes no    difference.
I can't find anything on the Apple Support site or the Lexmark support site.
It definitely looks like an issue with the printing system in Lion - both the phantom job and the activation of the printer as soon as a print dialog is opened.
Anyone have a fix for this?

The phantom print job will be a Postscript file to check the printer status. This process has been around since 10.5 but it usually is responded to silently by the printer rather than it sitting in the print queue. If you don't have the Supply Levels menu in Options & Supplies for this printer in Snow Leopard then it would suggest that Lexmark has changed the PPD for Lion.
So you could try creating another print queue on Lion but this time selecting the Generic Postscript driver included with Lion. This should let you print but provides few options. It it does work then at least you have an easy workaround.
Another possible fix would be copying the T630 PPD from Snow Leopard and replacing the T630 PPD in Lion. The PPD for both OS's are stored in /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources. With the SL T630 PPD copied, you can open the CUPS web page in Lion and select to modify the T630 queue. From this page select the T630 printer and from the next page change the Adminstration drop menu to Modify Printer. You will be prompted for your Mac admin user name and password. After entering these details you see the first page showing the print queue. Select Continue and probably Continue again until you see the page where you can change the printer make and model. Here is also the section to browse for a PPD. Browse to the T630 PPD from Snow Leopard and then press Modify Printer. Now you can see if all that effort was worth it.
