Printing problem with the HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175

I have recently upgraded to Windows 8.  When running Windows 7, I could print as may documents from Word or Excel as  I wanted.  Now, with Windows 8, I can only print one document.  When I try to print another, the program freezes.  The only way I can print another document is to restart the computer.  Any ideas?

  • Engine error HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175 PCL6 wireless

    Hi folks,
I would like to help with the "engine error" you're experiencing. I would like you to download the HP LaserJet Pro Series Firmware Update Utility. With this utility we can install a firmware update for the printer hardware. Please read all the steps below before clicking the above link. If you are using a mac operating system Click here instead.
    Flash Firmware Update Notes:
The Firmware Update Utility uses the USB connection to the printer.
The HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M170 series print driver software must be installed prior to using this utility.
The HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M170 series printer must be on and in a READY state as shown by the LCD display on the control panel and remain powered on during the entire firmware update process.
Depending on the processor speed of your pc, the firmware update process may complete on the printer before the update status progress bar in the flash firmware update utility on the pc screen completes, this is normal.
Once the update process has started, do not use your pc for any other activity until the process is complete.
Do not power cycle the product or the pc until the firmware update process is complete
    Steps to take :
    1. Download the flash firmware updater file by clicking the appropriate  link above. (The first link is for Windows operating systems and the second is for Mac)
    2. Turn the printer off and then back on to clear main printer memory.
    3. Double click on the file M170_colorMFP_Series_FW_Update-20111021.exe flash firmware update utility file. An HP firmware update window will open.
    4. Select the appropriate HP M170 MFP series driver in the dialog window. If you assigned a different name to the HP M170 MFP, choose the name that represents the correct printer.
    5. Click on ""Send Firmware"" when ready to proceed.
    6. The progress bar will begin to move to the right indicating information being transferred.
    7. DO NOT power cycle the product or the pc during this process or the product may become unstable and or unusable without further attention from HP. The flash firmware update can take up to 5 minutes to complete. Please be patient.
    8. During the product flash firmware update, the display on the product control panel will display ""Printing Document- Erasing - Programming - Complete - Hewlett-Packard - Ready - Initializing - Ready"". Once the download is finished the printer will be in the Ready state.
    9. At the conclusion of the firmware update, the dialog window will show a smiley face. Click on exit.
    10. The flash firmware update process is complete
Please let me know if this resolves the issue and/or if you would like further assistance.

  • Manual duplex printing doesn't work for LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a

    Hi !
OS Windows 8.1. Printer LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a. Driver version 61.108.8.10073 date 2011 Apr 13th
    1. After switching on checkbox "Print on Both Sides (Manually)" on "Finishing" tab of Print Properties Dialog and
start printing, dialog with instruction how to turn paper appears. Then printer must print odd pages, stop for
turning paper and then continue printing of even pages on the back side of paper sheets. But my device prints
all pages sequentually in order 1,2,3,... without any breaks. What is it- my mistake or possible bug in driver ?
    2. Windows API function DeviceCapabilities with fwCapability=DC_DUPLEX for this printer returns 0 (duplex printing

  • Critical error: HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175 Series - Please give me a solution to this problem.

I am having a problem trying to install a new printer. As an administrator on a active directory domain on a Windows XP machine; when I go to install the software on the HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP M175nw CD with serial number CE866-60105 v1.1, the installation which says "product has been detected - waiting for product setup to finish. This may take several minutes..." takes about ~40min to go through the installation. After this time passes the installation progress bar gets to 99% and then it says "Error - An install operation took too long to execute. This is a fatal error preventing product use. Please restart your computer and run the installer again. If the problem persists, please check the product support web site for your product.

  • HP Laserjet 100 color MFP M175 PCL6

My printer worked fine connecting to the wireless network at home.  We just moved to a new State and have AT&T Uverse and their modem and router.  Cannot get the printer to connect to the router.  Tried everything I can think of including installing disc and connecting to my printer.  It will only print wired. All help appreciated.

    Hey @_Bella1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're having issues connecting your HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw wirelessly to your new router. I would like to assist you with this today. Now in order for me to provide you with accurate troubleshooting steps I will need to know what Operating System you're using on your computer: What's my OS?
In the meantime, I'm going to provide you with some generic troubleshooting steps to hopefully get this printer up and running wirelessly for you quickly.
    Step 1: Powercycle Network:
    1. First, unplug the power cable to your Router
    2. Once your Router is unplugged, turn off your printer
    3. Next, shut down your computer
    4. After 30 seconds to 1 minutes, plug your Router back in
    5. Next, turn on your printer
    6. Turn on the computer
After a few minutes your network connection will return. Check on your computer and ensure you can browse to websites before continuing. Once your internet is functioning again please proceed with the next step.
    Step 2: Restore Network Defaults:
On the front panel of your printer select the Setup button (wrench)
Tap the right arrow beside OK until you see Network Setup Menu and select OK
Right arrow until you see Restore Defaults and select OK
Now that the Network Settings are restored you will have a nice clean slate to work with to reconfigure your printer on your new wireless network.
    Step 3: Configure Wireless:
Now you indicated in your post that the printer will function through a wire USB connection. That USB Cable connection will be required to reconfigure the wireless on your printer. I'm going to provide you with the steps for Windows and for Mac. When prompted, please select the appropriate steps for the Operating System you're using on your computer.
Disconnect your USB Cable from your computer
    If using Windows:
    Click on your Start menu
    Select Devices and Printers
Right click on your Laserjet printer and select 'delete' or 'remove device'
If you show multiple copies of your printer please delete them all
Close the Devices and Printers window
Click on your Start menu again
    Select All Programs
    Select the HP folder
    Select your HP Laserjet
Click on 'Add a Device' or 'Connect a new Device'
Follow the onscreen prompts to 'connect through a wireless network'
Connect the USB Cable only when prompted to complete the wireless setup
Only disconnect the USB Cable when the installer screen prompts you to.
    If using Mac:
    Click on your Apple menu
    Select System Preferences
    Select Print & Scan
Select your printer on the left hand side
Choose the (-) minus button at the bottom to delete your printer
If there is multiple copies of your printer installed, delete them all.
Click here to download the drivers for your printer. Choose the appropriate Mac Operating System and hit next
Click on 'Driver- Product Installation Software' and select the 'HP Laserjet Pro 100 Colour MFP M175 Pro Full Software Solution'. Allow this package to download
Once the download is complete run through the on screen instructions to reinstall your printer on the wireless network.
Once the wireless is set up, please test printing.
Please let me know if these steps resolve your wireless connectivity issue. Should you still be experiencing issues or if my instructions are not clear, be sure to respond with your Operating System so I can provide you with specific steps. Good luck!

  • Help with hp LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw

Hi all, have run the suggested HP troubleshooting solutions for the below problem but still persists.
When I print from any programme I get yellow smudges along the edge of the print outs at regular intervals. Initially I thought it was yellow toner smudging at the edges somehow and cleaned all the rollers etc. No joy so now think it may be light burn marks on the paper? Out of ideas to resolve the issue. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

    Hello,
I'm going to keep this short and simple.
We are/were hp partners once, I bought myself a HP Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw at Staples in Belgium (Staples is bankrupt meanwhile - a pity for their employees)
I ordered toners on tonershop.be, these toners are approved, HP was fined for this sort of behaviour as 100% valid replacement.   HP forces me to do a software update, next thing I'm seeing is a big warning that I'm using counterfeit products and that I need to contact HP.   This is the world upside down, HP is violating the European free market.   Not the poor guy that wants to make an extra buck, for an underpaid salary in a sweatshop somewhere.
My printer is ruined (I have +25 years profound technical knowledge, experience, whatever)
But my printer is still under warranty no?   No HP (online tells me it isn't) so back to Staples, fortunately they had a copy of my invoice, so that I can be repaired in warranty but no, I the evil HP partner that sold for multiple hundreds of thousands of euros worth of HP products, I used LEGAL replacement toners.  Sorry Mr you have to buy a new printer.
Well I don't.    I'm going to take this whole sage (with the microchips with false information, on the toner cartridges full off very expensive toner powder.   And I'm going to mail it to Neelie Kroes and I really hope that HP get's convicted for market manipulation, price agreements, putting themselves above national legislation and lot's of other misconducts.
And because of management that is only interested in greed and their 25th Villa, Tesla car, Island, it will be the HP employee that pay the price for this sort of arrogance and plain stupidity.
HP: You have my contact details, send me an email.
And then the 'too big too fall' companies annoy you with useless questionnaires about their customer service, they ask themselves why nobody is buying their products and so on.
Anyway, for this type of printer I know the story from A-Z meanwhile, I have kept all evidence, invoices and whatever and once again I was once somebody that made you company what it is today after the HP/Compaq merger.
You board of directors, top management, yes Mrs. Ex CEO from Ebay), that is why people don't buy HP anymore.   High Prices, no service.
I prefer to keep this reaction anonymous, one could imagine why.
But I have my a digital print of this post, and signed it with a digital signature.
Because everything what I mentioned above is how it is.
Stop ruining our planet and the future of my children for your own greedy behaviour.
    Mr X.

  • Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw wifi connection problem

Some days ago I bought new router Cisco RV 120W and HP Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw and
I thought the configuration of these devices will go without a problem. But NOT. I get tired of wireless printing, already the second day. I am unable to establish a wireless connection with Laserjet as infrastructure.I've tried everything, connect via USB, I installed the HP driver from a CD and even setup printer via Ethernet cable. I was able to connect to the printer ad-hoc but that's not what I mean. I need my printer in network as infrastructure.
My router provides 802.11n  WPA2 PSK with AES. HP Driver Installer can not set parameters of my wireless network, It is allows me to enter the network key but can not find the printer later on wireless connections. I was able to set the parameters of the wireless network by connecting by Ethernet, the printer feeds in the report that the wireless is turned on, connected, pront correct the name of the network, signal strength, but it can not be installed on Windows.
My router shows the DHCP clients (laptops, iPhones) but can not see the printer. Does the printer have a wireless network card damaged? Already checked all the options on the router and I have no ideas.

    Hi yarzig
I understand you are unable to setup the wireless on the printer.
Make sure the computer is on the right network.
Disconnect the ethernet cable from the printer.
    Restore the printer defaults.
On the printer select the setup button, right arrow to service menu, ok,  right arrow to  restore defaults, ok.
Print a configuration report to make sure there is no IP address and your network name. (SSID)
Go to the setup button (wrench) on the printer, right arrow to reports, select config report.
Now connect the ethernet cable from the printer to the router.
Wait about 1 minute and print the configuration page to get the IP address.
If you have a valid IP address for the printer try and access the embedded web server.
Type the IP address into internet explorer address bar.
If it loads the printer's network page then the printer is on the network.
Now we can setup the wireless connection.
Click on the Networking Tab, on the left select wireless, fill out the information. Apply the settings, once you get a reply back then disconnect the ethernet cable from the printer.
Should get a solid blue light on the printer.
Now run the add printer wizard.
If you are using Win 7,  go to start, devices and printers, add printer, go through the wizard. Should find the printer and install the driver. If not then go to add printer, select local, select create a new port, click drop down and select TCP\IP, next, type in the printer's IP address. Continue the wizard.
Make sure the printer is online.
Test the wireless and see if you can now print.
If you require further assistance please provide the following so I can assist you

  • LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw - how do I install a different driver on the server to which I RDP?

I have installed my LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw on my (32-bit) Windows XP Pro SP3 PC via USB and it works fine.  When I make it the default printer (I also have another HP printer installed locally) and use Windows Remote Desktop (RDP) to my server - which is (64-bit) Windows Enterprise without Hyper-V SP2 (2008 R2) it prints but some fonts show gobbledygook. The printer driver on the server is defaulting to "terminal services easy print".  I have administrator privileges on the server and have, in the past, been able to download the appropriate driver to the server so that printing in the RDP session works.  But now I only seem to be able to find installation software to download (not the actual drivers).  So, when attempting to install the software (rather than copy it) on the server the installation waits for the local (USB) connection and won't proceed.
What is the best practices way to have the locally installed (fully functional) machine be able to print from an RDP session?  I'm sure I shouldn't have to drag each new local printer to the server and install it locally with a USB cable.

  • Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw - problems connecting wirelessly to PC

I have just bought a Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw and cannot connect wirelessly to my home network.
The installation goes to 99% and then gives an error message saying it took too long to connect, reboot and try again. Rebooted and tried again many times.
I have downloaded the latest installation prog. with the same result.
I have been able to connect with USB direct and can print, but not by Wi-Fi.
I have been able to connect the printer to my rooter by ethernet cable and can print that way also.
I am running Win 8.1 on a 64bit Lenovo computer.
Please can you advise a solution?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes. It's a bit embarrassing. Eventually, I went back to the instructions, and followed them to the letter for the WIFI setup -  and it worked .
For me, the adage is true - "When all else fails, read the instructions."
    So embarrassing!!!!!
    Hope this helps.

  • Laserjet pro 100 color mfp m175

We have a number of HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP M175's in our school.  They are connected to the network via ethernet cable rather than wirelessly. A number of users print to them either from a Windows XP (running service pack 2) desktop or from a Windows 7 (newly built) laptop.  They were working fine for a few days and then all of a sudden they may have any of the following problems:
unsupported personality error printed at the top of a lot of pages (ie you may try and print one page but hundreds of pages come out with this error).
there may be an invalid driver error on the control panel on the printer
there may be weird alien-looking characters at the top of hundreds of blank pages
initially all of the printers had the driver installed that came with the printers, when we started getting the error, we then tried running the diagnostics doctor on the hp web site, which said all the drivers were valid.  We have also tried using the universal print driver from the HP support website, but still get the problem after a few days.  We can make all of the errors go away by re-installing any of the above drivers, but then the problem starts happening again after a few days. The server is Windows 2003R2 running service pack 2, we have tried installing the drivers on the server too, but they won't install. Another printer was set up this week in the school office which only has people printing from Windows 7 machines and doesn't have the error - this could be because it's too soon to happen yet, or maybe because there are no Windows XP machines printing to it? (It does print through the same server as the others)  Help would be greatly appreciated, we are a school and so can't afford to be wasting lots of paper, plus this is taking up all of our time rather than fixing other issues!  thanks in advance

Tammy, sounds like there could be a couple things that might cause this issue. The first of which is that the RJ45 cable you are using to connect the printer might have become corrupted. I would replace that cord and see if the issue remains.
Second, I want you to see about updating the firmware from this website :
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=5076465
If that still presents issues, you can use that same website to download the more recent drivers. I would uninstall the old version you have on the computer and then open that link and install the full feature software.
Let me know how that goes and I will get right back with you!
I hope you are having a wonderful week, and I hope that the weather where you are located is as beautiful there as it is here!

  • Ipad(4th gen) does not connect to Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw for AirPrinting

    Hi,
I have a problem with Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw and Airprinting.
Ipad(4th gen) cannot connect to printer for AirPrinting.
Wireless Direct is set on in the printer.
When I choose to connect to printers own wifi network with my Ipad, it can't connect.
(Ipad doesn't show the wifi symbol on top left corner.)
And if I try to print with Safari, it says "AirPrint-tulostimia ei löytynyt" which means in english "No Airprint-printers found".
I have all installations by the guide book several times, but seems that this Airprint simple doesn't work.
    Device Configuration show this:
    Installed Personalities and Options
    PCL6           (20040201)
    AirPrint
    PCL              (20040201)
    PDF              (20040201)
    PS                 (20040201)
I wonder why AirPrint has empty value? (what ever this  might mean)

    Heikki

    Hi,
Thank you for your reply and first action plan to find a quick fix.
Unfortunatelly even though I disabled IPv6, it didn't fix the problem. Also reboot and WIFI restart has been tryed sevelar times without any help. Ipad Safari is still giving me a message "no airprint printer found".
Same problem also when I try to print so that both Ipad and printer are  connected to my home WLAN/DSL-router.
I don't see any problems for the printer to connect my home WLAN,  both printer and Ipad has received an IP address from the WLAN router.
My router model is Zyxel AMG1202-T10B.
Ipad is updated to it's latest SW version which is 7.0.6. and printer's firmware date is 20131028.
I have no problems printing with my Windows 7 desktop computer which is connected to same network as well.
Windows 7 PC is connected to router via Ethernet. Printer is connected to router via Wireless, not ethernet.
