Printing Problems in CS4 with EPSON R1900

I recent bought a new Epson R1900 and much to my dismay, I can't print from InDesign or Illustrator (haven't yet tried from Photoshop). Basically what happens is that the printer ignores any settings I configure, and prints with the "Default" settings. So not only can I not control the quality or media type, but by default it uses up the Glossy Optimiser, by assuming I want to print on glossy stock.
My workaround in the meantime is to create everything as a PDF and print from Acrobat. For some reason, Acrobat can talk to the printer.
Has anyone else found these problems? Is there any solution to be had?

Ive gone crazy trying to get ID CS3 to print on my HP Laserjet P1006. Various Adobe techs have spent hours trying to find a fix. They really have been very nice and all tried
to be helpful. And - THANK GOD - most of them spoke English. Im hard of hearing and
unfortunately speak very little Indian. (Someone told me that all ID techs speak english.)
It will print PDF. And CS3 Illustrator and Photoshop will print.
One tech suggested that I download CS4 for the 30 day trial to see if it will print. But, after
reading your problem, I will skip even trying.
For quite a while, I was told that it was an Apple problem and that 10.5.6 was going
to fix it. But it didnt. My printer prints a blank page.
Ive read other CS3 printer complaints. What good is a program that wont print?

  • Problems printing from photoshop CS4 with epson R2880

I just purchased an epson stylus photo R2880, I thought it was broken due to the fact that I could
not make prints from photoshopCS4.... it goes through all the motions and when its time to print, the soft ware just stops and nothing happens, no warning window, nothing, just no print, I have been three days with epson support by telephone and we have gone through every  possible scenario. I have repaired permissions, I have repaired the disks, I have reinstalled all drivers and I can  print
from iphoto, from epson software, Lightroom and from preview but not from photoshop, I am at my wits end...I have my agent in Italy asking for three new portfolios and I cannot deliver. please help
    Browser: Safari
    Operating System: Macintosh
Printer model / driver version: epson stylus photo R2880

In conjunction with Jeff's suggestion, I suggest that you remove all of Epson's preferences for your preference folder especially if you are experience some other issues with other software. And especially if you have 10.6.1 installed.

  • HT204135 Photoshop CS5 Printing Problem on iMac with Epson 3880 printer

All of a sudden I can't print from Photoshop CS5 on my iMac with OSX Mountain Lion installed.  I am able to print from Illustrator, however.   Have tried to update the Epson 3880 driver. After clicking on "Print", it doesn't register with the computer, and from then on, the "Print" option is greyed out.

Are you using moab icc profiles or are you using one of the epson profiles?
I always use the moab profiles which you can download from their Web site. This way you are matching the specific epson printer with the specific moab paper.
At that point you change the printer manages color to Lightroom manages color and select the specific profile. Very easy to do - they even have instructions on the Moab site for installing the profiles if you haven't done that.
Once installed you can also use them through the system print dialogs in PS but it is really much much easier to use in LR - Since coming on board with LR last summer, I have switched to doing ALL printing from LR. Since you mentioned that you are having the same problem with LR and PS, I'm betting you are using epson profiles and this will solve your problem.
    Hope so

  • Pictures print dark from Elements 12 on imac27 with Epson R1900

Both my colleague and I cannot print pictures matching screen brightness. I have Elements 12 with new iMac 27 and Epson R1900. He has new PC and Lightroom with Epson R1900 printer.

This is a common problem when the monitor is set too bright. Hardware needs to be calibrated with tools such as X-rite ColorMunki or Spyder Elite. You can then match your monitor to your print profile (combination of printer, paper and ink) to ensure consistent results.

  • Test: Using Crop marks in indesign CS4 with Epson 3800 Mac 10.5.7

    Jun 19, 2009 9:35 PM
Crop marks using indesign CS4 with Epson 3800 Mac 10.5.7
My crop marks and pages are printing larger than my document sizes.  My paper size is 13x19, so I should have crop marks at the exact corners of the page sizes.  But indesign is printing the entire document larger.  So my document which is 11x14.75 is now printing 11.25x15.5.  All my settings are correct. So, is anyone else using an Epson 3800 with CS4 indesign having issues such as the above?  And can I ask (beg) a few of you to do a test print with crop marks and let me know the results?
My workflow has been completely stalled because I can't get my pages to print the right sizes with the crop marks at the right measurements.  I'm printing a photo portfolio on the Lumijet double sided paper and "when" it did work awhile back sometime several months ago, the finals looked great. I've already reinstalled both the Epson 3800 driver and the Indesign CS4 software, but the results are still the same.
    So, here are my settings:
    document size: 11x14.75
    in the print panel:
    Printer: Epson 3800
Setup: Paper size: Super A3/B13x19, scale 100% width & height, page position Centered
Marks & Bleed: Marks: "Crop Marks" checked. offset: 0, weight: .25, Bleed and Slug: Use Document bleed settings, include slug area.  The bleed is 0 for top, bottom, left and right
Color Management: Document profile: Adobe RGB, Options: Indesign handles colors, Printer Profile: (A custom made profile using Xrite for the 3800 with Lumijet paper)
The settings on the Epson 3800
    Epson 3800 Printer
Presets (set for the profile mentioned above)
    No Color management
Sometimes, on a whim, the printer and indesign cooperate together like good little children should. But not often.  And I can not conclude why they are nice to each other sometimes, but given the same detailed data at other times, they fight.
If anyone could run through a similar process using indesign with a photo layout and setting up the printer settings for both the Epson 3800 and in the indesign program and let me know their results, I would value your conclusions very much.  You don't even have to waste paper or ink.  Finally, after wasting so many pages of paper and of ink. I deleted the photos from the page, and printed it blank with only the crop marks for me to measure if it was coming out right or not.
Thank you for any response.  And feel free to call me if you want to vent about Epson 3800's or about Indesign CS4 anytime! I'm up late....  646 256 8853.

I specified the paper size as strictly 13x19, no boarderless, no retain size.  Same problem.   I also did as you suggested below.  The pdf document does remain true to the document.  As a pdf doc. I changed the color mgmt to Adobe rgb 1998.  It looks okay, but not as lively as I get when printing correctly with my color mgmt working and in sync.
Your final question about simply using photoshop.  Well... I might go back to it and give up on Indesign if this is the case that it won't simply crop my documents to the sizes that I input them to be cropped as.  But, I am using Indesign so that I can create a page layout that I can't do in Photoshop.  My folio is about 25 or more pages with double page spreads.  I am printing on a two-sided Lumijet paper and my folio was custom designed to be cut out at 11x14.75.  If and when it is printed correctly, I am printing on both sides of the paper and trimming it to exact size.
It sounds as if you have exhausted the potential problems and don't have a clear explanation for why the doc isn't printing correctly in Indesign either with the color mgmt. or the document sizes.  I'll try one more print using a different color profile similar enough to get at minimum, an okay print. If it doesn't print at least okay, then it isn't most likely my profile..... Okay done.  Crazy.  The color is inaccurate, but for some reason or another, the document size printed correctly. It measured exactly 11x14.75.  What I have done during this period of time is:
First) I did as you suggested and turned the Print to Adobe PDF 9 and created a print there. I measured it and it did measure correctly.  I didn't love the color, but... at least it is measuring correctly.
Second) I turned the Printer back to Epson 3800 (I'm beginning to think that this simple gesture was what caused the printer to print correctly)  I didn't change any settings, but I did make sure that they were set correctly as before. The paper size was set to 13x19.  When I make sure this setting is right in the "printer" dialogue for the Epson 3800, and then switch back to ID, the printer dialogue in Id changes to "Define by Printer."  But I changed nothing, other than the profile to an older one that I used before. The color is still inaccurate, but at least for two prints just now back to back, the measurements were correct.   What to do? Lol.
Thanks again for all of your time spent trying to resolve this issue.
    Sincerely,
    Thaddeus

I have just purchased a new windows 8 computer and have cc photoshop installed.  when trying to print with my epson r1900, the only print options available are landscape or portrait and paper size letter or a4.  has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you solve it.

  • Printing problem in CS4

Printing was working fine and then all of a sudden I can't print in Photoshop CS4 on my IMAC and Epson Stylus Pro 3880. I can print in other programs. I have OS 10.9.2.

I have had exactly the same error with Vista and a HP Z3100ps printer.
I'm guessing right now because I could not solve it when it happened on TWO computers.
Is it possible that the file's active layer is set to a text layer using a uninstalled font ?
I'm planning on deleting the printer, and re-adding it to see if this solves my problem.

  • Illustrator CS5 with Epson R1900 = aliasing lines

    Hi all,
I've been searching for answers as to why my Epson R1900 is printing with aliased lines when printing from Illustrator (CS5), without much luck. I've read in another forum that it is perhaps a driver issue but have not found confirmation from other sources. We haven't used the printer in a few months and this is the first time it is happening. I'm fairly knowledgable about color mangement and using the correct profiles and have tried various combinations with no luck.
I've downloaded and installed the latest Combo Update from Epson's website and have gone through the deletion and reinstall process about three times. The colors are accurate and the Print Utility works well (showing ink levels etc), but the quality of the line work is obviously aliased. The hitch is that if I convert the files to PDF, then print from Acrobat Reader, the line quality is perfect. I really don't want to (nor feel I should have to), convert my files to PDFs to print them (because of the workflow, it becomes a little harder to manage the color correctly and transparencies get tricky).
Can anyone please provide some insight and/or help with this?
    FYI:
    Color space: sRGB
Set to let Illustrator handle color.
Media Profile: Epson Ultra Prem Presenation Matte
Color result: Very acceptable (maybe 95% accurate)
Thanks for your time and help!
    Cheers,
    Michael

Can you manually tweak the ink and line bleed setting in the printer driver? Sounds like that just needs to be set a little higher for the printer to produce additional droplets for the antialiasing...

  • Capture Noise Print (problem) - Soundbooth CS4

    Hello,
I am having a "Capture Noise Print" problem with Soundbooth CS4.
    I have 2 audio files:
File A (this is my noise print) I recorded a 4 minute file (.wav) of the ventilation system.
File B (this is the audio file that I want to improve: I want to remove the background noise of the ventilation system.
Q: How can I remove the background sound from File B using the noise print from File A?
I can only achieve this when both sounds are on the same file. Soundbooth CS4 doesn’t let me do this process when there are on separate audio files...(the box for "Capture Noise Print" is grey and cannot be selected)
    Thanks for your time.

I have the exact same problem... I do this..
    1.  Select 5 seconds of silence
    2.  Click Capture Noise Print
    3.  Select select a silent area
    4.  Click Noise..
    5.  Click "Preview".. whether On/Off buton is on/off, AND with Use Capture Noise Print selected, I hear no reduction.  Even at 100%/3dB
If I uncheck the "Use Captured Noise Print" option, then noise is removed, but I get the robotic voice
    CS5 latest updates.
    Any ideas?
    TIA
EDIT::  Interesting.. closing SB, then reopening seems to resolve the issue.  Every so often it does the same thing, so I have to close/reopen SB.

  • Printing problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16

Has anyone experienced any problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16 through Software Update? I am having problems printing. It denotes an error message, specifically the rastertoescpii.app isn't working?

Oops, wanted everyone to know that the driver that Software Update downloaded and installed was 2.18, not 2.16 (which was the last one that worked for me). I just got done downloading the 2.18 driver directly from the Apple support website and installing it. Guess what? My printer is now working and everything is fine. If you are having issues, I suggest this route. Guess I solved my own problem, but hope this helps someone else.

  • Printing problem using LR3 with Snow Leopard (IMAC i5) on Epson 3800:

My 5x7 crops are not being printed as selected and as shown on the print previews. The printed images cover the entire sheet but are somewhat cut-off as if LR3 had slghtly enlarged the file before sending it to the printer. After going through the print settings with me, Epson Support has assured me that their print drivers do not enlarge the files that they receive from LR. I am experiencing the same issue with both borderless and non-borderless prints. I am keen to send pictures to my friends and relations of my new grandson but have been working with this problem for a few days now. Can someone please help me?

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
When printing borderless, the image will have to be slightly larger to achieve borderless prints.  The Epson printer driver has two options for borderless printing - Borderless Auto Expand and Borderless Retain Size.  Each paper size will have both options available.
Borderless Auto Expand means the printer driver will expand the image automatically.  There is a setting for how much the driver will expand.  At the print window of the Epson printer driver, there is a setting called Expansion.  Here you will see three settings; Min, Mid and Max.
Borderless Retain Size mean you are enlarging the image yourself, controlling what you want to cut off.  The measurement of expansion is 1/8 inch to all sides, thus adding a 1/4 inch to width and height of the image.
    Here to help,
    Syd

  • Alignment problems printing direct to DVD with Epson R220

I know this question isn't specifically related to iDVD but I wondered if someone could help please?
I recently bought an Epson R220 printer to print direct to DVDs created with iDVD as I know labels stuck onto DVDs are best avoided.
However, using both the bundled Epson Print CD software and 'disclabel', I find the print is about 1cm off centre. I'm really surprised by this, as I thought these machines would just work out of the box - detecting through the software where the centre of the DVD is? I've tried everything to remedy this (including the position adjustment within Print CD which allows up to 5mm fine-tuning). The problem is I need more than fine tuning - the print is way off!
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has an R200 or R220 and might have had a similar problem as I've spoken to Windows users with the same printer, who report no such hassle.
    Many thanks,

Thanks Hardy - really appreciate the links to the Epson site. I've tried using the manual settings as you suggest, and I've certainly witnessed a vast improvement. Basically, it seems that if I alter the position adjustment slightly and then opt for a manual print, the disc is centred no problem. It isn't quite up to the edge of the disc - there's about a 2mm gap, using one of the templates from the Print CD app. Have you noticed this also - or does the image print right up tight against the edge of the disc?
If I go back and opt to just 'Print' from the first menu that appears after selecting File>Print, (i.e. not using Manual to print) the image is consistently about 15mm off centre - I've tried this on a dozen tests. However, using 'Manual Print' this isn't the case. I wonder if there is a glitch here in the latest edition of EPSON Print CD (V1.4), in that you seem unable to specify 'Page Set Up'?
I've also gone back to the excellent disclabel application. Here I find that if I change the 90% default under page set up, to 100%, the disc is also aligned correctly.
Thanks very much Hardy for taking the time to work through this one with me - much appreciated.

  • How to print a "custom" size panorama in CS6 on iMac with Epson R1900

I am stuck. After setting up in PS, the printer starts printing, but no ink is on the paper.
I have no trouble when I select a preset that is already part of the program, i.e.. 13 x 19 roll: it prints beautifully.
Epson help couldn't figure it out. Nor could NAPP or Adobe.  Actually Adobe wanted me to pay $99.50 to help me solve the problem.

    Hi djraven911,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I will be happy to help you; however I can't help but wonder, is this a prank?
I noticed you posted on April 1st, coincidentally April Fools.
In any case, HP does not have any printer's that support printing on toilet paper.
As for your second inquiry, I would suggest the Officejet 8600, the XL cartridge will print approximately 2300 pages.
It supports many media types, but not toilet paper.
    Hope this helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a nice day!
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

  • Tabloid duplex printing problem from CS4 (Acrobat and InDesign)

I cannot print a two-page tabloid (landscape mode) pdf document properly from a MacBook Pro or a Mac Pro running 10.6.2 using Adobe Products (Acrobat 8 or 9, or InDesign CS3 or CS4) to an HP LJ5550DN. The printed version prints on both sides of the paper, but the right 1/4 of each page doesn't print. Furthermore, if I reboot and print just one side, it prints fine, but when I select duplex I get this problem and if I try to print just one side again, it prints w/o the 1/4 of the right side of the paper.
I can print the tabloid duplex correctly using Preview on the same computers. I can also print correctly using Acrobat 7 from a Mac G4 running Mac OS 10.4.11. I can print a single tabloid sheet correctly from Illustrator CS3 or CS4 from the Snow Leopard computers, but since Illustrator doesn't handle more than one page, can't send it duplex.
I conclude that the problem is the Adobe software under Snow Leopard. If you know what is wrong with the Adobe software, please send me the fix - it would streamline the process.

I'm having exactly the same problem, with a 5500dn. As with you, the problem is present in both CS3 and Acrobat 8 and 9, and I can print a duplex A3/tabloid PDF correctly with Preview. (only the colour balance is rubbish!)
Mac OS 10.6.2, print driver HP Color Laserjet 5500 v3010.107 (although it's obviously not the driver).
Needless to say, any solution to this needs to address CS3 and later apps.
    Bug report filed.
    Thanks,
