Printing problems MATRIXx 7.1.4 on Windows 2000
I am running MX 714 on a Windows 200 machine have problems printing.
From a graphics window when I select File>Print and select the desired printer I get.
pop-up window: hardlnx.exe - Application Error (instruction at "0x00401c23" referenced memory at "0x0000000008". The memory could not be "read".
I get the following message in the xmath window:
***A*** Process c:\data\ni\mx714\mx_71.4\xmath\modules\basic/hardlnx.exe failed to load (system error).
[main._stat4] = (define `hardlnx') (filnam, fileType, file, color, [xscale;yscale], portrait, res, print, _hpglOptions, window_id, render, hcsize);
The printer is networked and shared.
hardcopy:
hardcopy print="c:\data\ni\mx714\mx_71.4\xmath\bin\xmprint T0016005",{fg, portrait}
c:\data\ni\mx714\mx_71.4\xmath\bin\xmprint T0016005 C:\DOCUME~1\BT003232\LOCALS~1Temp/XmathGraphics1116.ps
[printing to T0016005 ...]
But nothing is send to the printer??
No further error messages.
What can I do.
Brian
Nick,
I have access to 4 networked printers (no local devices available)
HP LaserJet 5M (default)
2 HP Color LaserJet 4550 PS
Xerox WorkCentre Pro65 PS
(under Printers it reads e.g. T0016005 on ipp://clprt1.nwip.canadair.ca for the default LasetJet)
From the Graphics Window, I select File > Print.
I then get the Print Pop-Up window displayed.
I select the Printer I want to use and Select OK.
The print window dissappears and the error message window pops-up
The "hardlnx.exe" file is there and I can do "what hardlnx" and hardlnx -> which gives message used in invalid context.
I can create hardcopy files:
hardcopy file="c:\temp.ps", {fg,portrait} , also eps, emf, pict work as well.
Question: Should there be any NI System Environment Variables set?
e.g. I run hardcopy without any other keywords and get .. no default printer defined..
How do I set this? If I type set XMATH_PRINT=c:\........\xmprint T0016005 in a DOS window, it sets some sort of environment variable, but MATRIXx doesn't find this.
MATRIXx seems happier if I go through the Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Environment Variables and Add a new one called XMATH_PRINT but this is not straight forward.
After adding the XMATH_PRINT it appears to accept the printer, ...printing on T0016005.. but nothing comes out.
I do not have problems printing from any other application.
Thanks
Brian

Problem in installing Forms 6 on Windows 2000
I have problem in installing forms 6 on windows 2000.
Please advise me.
nullHello,
I've been using Dev 2000 ver 6i for several months sucessfully on Win 2K RC2. The compiled .fmx's work fine with the ver 6.0 runtime environment under NT 4.0.
The only problem is that the Forms Server won't work till the 1st patch set comes out
(only Oracle knows when!) , so you can't test or deploy the forms as web apps on Win 2K yet. OAS 4.0 appears to work ok on Win 2K.
I have been using the Beta version of Dev 6i and will upgrade to the release version eventually, probably when the patch comes out.

Problem with oracle 8i installation on windows 2000 pro
Hi all
i'm installing oracle 8i enterprize edition on windows 2000 professional.
At the end of the installation,in the configuration tools step when it says that
the following tools will be automatically started for you etc...
the oracle database configuration assistant keep failing and i get the following message in the text file dbSilentCreate
< 8I\starterdb is an invalid command line argument. >
what should i do? anyone familiar with this problem ?
ConstancioThis should be a workaround for your problem. Let me know if it works or not.
1. Create a temporary directory on your server.
2. Copy the contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD to the temporary directory created in step 1.
3. Search the directory structure created in step 1 for the existence of the filename symcjit.dll.
4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.
5. Run the setup.exe from the \install\win32 directory and install Oracle 8.1.x. -
Problem with strange border-colors on windows 2000
On windows 2000, I have the problem, that my JButtons, JComboboxes and so on are rainbow-colord (if I do not set a special Border to theser Components). What can I do (if possible, I would not set explicit borders to all Components; and for Popups-Dialogues, it is not possible to set spcial borders, is it?)
Thank you for any help!I'm seeing the exact same behavior on my 8.1 Laptop. I tried deleting the Skype tmp folder as suggested elsewhere, I also uninstalled and reinstalled Skype for Desktop and still can't hang up a call and often can't answer a call either. Makes Skype completely useless at this point.

After setting Reprint option from Tools menu and passing proper printer name ..no printer is coming .. 2 hours back everything working fine
any ideaCould you please verify whether you have patch 4233553 applied or not?

How i can diagnoise it ???If the above note does not help, then I would suggest you enable trace. You may also log a SR and provide Oracle support with the log file generated. -

Domain problem still persists -9iAS installation on windows 2000 profto do?
Hi
I tried installing 9iAS rel 2 on Windows 2000 prof.
As per the pop-up during installation I did the changes. I did the changes as per the instructions. In the "hosts" file
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
I added
127.0.0.1 <my computer name>.WORKGROUP
So the resultant details in hosts file were
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 <my computer name>.WORKGROUP# my entry
IT DID NOT WORK THIS WAY TOO..
So I tried with a space instead of a "."
127.0.0.1 <my computer name> WORKGROUP# my entry
THIS ALSO DID NOT WORK..
Please help me.see original post :)

Problems with Runtime.getRuntime().exec in Windows 2000
Hello,
I have a batch file that I want to run from my java application. My code is the following:
try {
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c C:\\temp\\shortcut.bat");
} catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println(e.getMessage());
}I was developing on windows XP and it worked just fine. But then I tested it on windows 2000 and it didn't work. The batch file is okay, because if I run the batch file myself it works just fine, even from the command line. I get no errors what so ever, it just doesn't do anything...
Can somebody help me with this?
thx in advancethank you all so much
I figured it out... It was a combination of two things that went wrong.
First one: in my batch file I had:
cd C:\tempwhich worsk fine in XP, but in it doesn't in 2000. In 2000 it has to be:
C:
cd \temp But just changing that wasn't enough, I also needed the "start"
Now it works just fine on 2000, hopefully it'll still work on xp as well.

Printing problem with forms 4.5 on windows xp
Hi,
We have an application using forms 4.5 on DB version Oracle 9207 running on winxp.
Recently the clients were formatted for virus infection problems.
Now when a print job is fired from a client to a shared printer, system flashes error
*" NO PRINTER PORT FOUND IN REGISTRY "*
The same job print to a local printer , also all windows test page printing print ok to the same shared printer .
This error is flashed only when the print job is fired from Forms 4.5 to a shared printer on the network
Please Advise urgently
AltafUrgently restore a backup of the registry.
Urgently do not use the word 'urgently' in a forum of volunteers.
Also it can not be urgent, as Forms 4.5 dates from the Flintstone age, and probably isn't even certified on XP.
However, the error message is very clear: Apparently Forms 4.5 uses the registry to store printer info: you need to get that entry back. That kind of info is usually documented. Documentation is likely still online.

Printing problems with HP Laserjet P1005
everything seems to be ok with my printer HP Lasejet P1005, but it just doesn't print. The works are in the gueue and error messages continually is "set the new toner cartridge" althrough I've changed the cartridge already. Also there is a message "HP:s part number"
What can or should I do??? Help!!!Hi @rlp48,
I see by your post that you are getting the error message "set the new toner cartridge" and you have already changed it with a HP toner. I would like to help.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.
Open and close the lid 5 times quickly. It should print out a page with lines on it.
Did it print the self test?
If the self test page printed, clear the Spool folder and restart the Print Spooler and try printing again.
How to Clear Current Print Queue In Windows Vista & Windows 7.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
Have a nice day!

8610 printer problem with an online database
brand new printer - prints docs fine - when I try to print from my ACT database I get a little yellow "splash" with an exclamation mark in it next to my mouse arrow - won't print - everything is installed correctly - did the checks - please help - had an HP 6500 for over 4 years that was no problem - thanks
Hi @CLWM ,
I see by your post that you aren't able to print from the Act Database Software, but you can print from other applications. I would like to help you out today.
It might be a issue with the printer language, it might not be compatible with the Act Database Software.
The language on the printer is HP PCL 3 enhanced.
What language is the Act Database Software?
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?

ODBC problems with Oracle 8.1.5 on Windows 2000
Hi,
I have got a problem when i configure ODBC on Windows 2000.
When I test the driver with ODBC test driver, the programs doesn't respond when i use Oracle ODBC Driver first but responds when I use Microsoft Driver For Oracle first and then Oracle ODBC Driver.
Then I have a system 5 error when I use ODBC with ASP.
Is it Oracle 8.1.5 which is not compatible with Windows 2000 or a problem in Windows 2000 configuration ?
Best regards
RonanI think I was having the same problem; programs attempting to connect w/ODBC (including ODBCTest) would hang. After downloading and installing a newer ODBC driver from oracle (for me 8.1.5.5 worked), I was able to connect. Hope this helps!

My HP Deskjet F4280 printer won't work with my new HP 2000 laptop w/ windows 8.1
I have a HP Deskjet F4280 printer. I recently bought a HP 2000 laptop. I put the printers install disk in the laptop to set up my printer but it says windows 8 doesn't support that printer! It also does say that windows 2000, XP, Vista are supported on the disk for the printer...help! Is there a work around?
Hey Alyssa426,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
Since the installation disk does not support Windows 8.1, I would suggest trying to download, and install the drivers directly from the HP Support website. I have included a link to the 'HP Deskjet F4200/F4224 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver'. Once the software is downloaded, open the software, and follow through the on screen instructions for installation.
Please let me know the outcome of installing the software.
Thank you.

Msi GeForce 4 4200 frame rate locked at 60 with Windows 2000
Lost here..... I have an MSI Geforce 4 4200 120MB Video Card slotted on an Asus A7V motherboard - AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz processor with 640mb of ram.
There is a common problem with the Nvidia chip and Windows 2000 in regards to a lock frame rate at 60fps within games.
I've tried several programs to fix this i.e. "Refresh Lock", "Windows 2000/XP Nvidia Refresh rate lock", "PowerStrip 3.15" and "NVFresh Tool 1.0"
But nothing seems to work. I'm sure these program work with older Nvidia cards but not with GeForce 4.
Any Ideas? I even turned the Vsync off and on.

(A little advice: If you can, dump XP and install a copy of Windows 2000 second edition. They both have the same KERNAL but I find that Win 2000 is much more compatible for now. I give XP 2 more years before it's the OS for all. I've reinstalled 6 systems with Windows 2000 because of compatibility problems.)
