Printing Properties for Acrobat 8.0 Pro not sticking

Hi guys & gals,
I have a user here that is running Windows 7 that has been having an issue with printing from Acrobat 8.0 Professional for some time and while it's not a huge issue, it is a bit annoying.
Here's the scenario:
She opens a PDF file, clicks on Print, selects the printer she wants to print to and clicks on "properties" to change it from say, 8.5"x11" to 11'x17" paper size, then she clicks "OK" which returns her to the main print window only to see that it still shows the original paper size. If she clicks "Properties" a 2nd time and changes the paper size again and hits OK then everything is fine until the next time she goes to print something and she has to go through changing the print properties twice again to get the settings to stick.
It's not clear if this is an Acrobat issue or a Windows issue. Does anyone have any insights as to what might be going on here?
Thanks!

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the suggestions, but that didn't help. And yes Acrobat is updated and I even tried the "Repair Acrobat Installation" option all to no avail. 3 of us have looked into this issue and decided there is no fix. It's just something the user will have to live with. Oh and 1 correction, the computer is running Vista, not W7, however I don't think Vista is any worse at handling printing than 7 is, and since this happens regardless of if we print with the Postscript driver or the PCL6 driver, it's gotta be an Acrobat issue, not a Windows issue. Also just going into the list of printers and reselecting the already selected printer seems to also jolt it into suddenly showing the correct (changed) settings. Weird.

  • How do I Install a PDF Printer Manually for Acrobat 6.0 Pro

    My PDF Printer disappeared from my printer list. How can I manually re-install it? I tried following the directions given to another user for Acrobat 10.0 in this forum but was not successful with my 6.0 version. Can anyone help please? I really need my PDF Printer.

    A repair can be done from the Help>Repair menu (at least I think that AA6 can do that). Sometimes the repair can be done from the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, but you may need the CD in this case. You might also try just updating AA6 (now at 6.0.6) either from the help menu or by downloading the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=Windows (similar for MAC). For the downloads, be sure to install them in order and probably disable antivirus during the updates. You generally do not have to reboot until you have completed all of the updates.

  • Mass-Update Default Print Properties for Spool Authorization (S_SPO_ACT)

    Dear Experts
    To protect HR spool requests it is possible to use the print-authorization in combination with the authorization object S_SPO_ACT.
    In case a HR user prints a form the the print-popup will default the user-parameter SAU for print-authorization. When printed like this the value of the SAU-parameter will be added to the spool request.
    In case the HR user prints a ABAP-list the value of the user-parameter SAU is not defaulted in the print popup. Instead seperatly saved defaults print properties (see print popup -> properties) are taken.
    How can I mass-change these default print properties? How can I set these default print properties for other users?
    Thanks in advance

    Please note that with SAP BASIS release later than 620, parameter id 'SAU' is either no longer used or only used in a limit fashion. The default spool authorization is now stored in cluster 'UV' instead of at 'USR05' / parid 'SAU' .
    If your users already have 'SAU' parameter populated with proper spool authorization, SAP has an ABAP util 'RSTRANSPARAMSAU' to store this in the cluster. Once you run this util, default spool authorization will
    be populated properly each time spool files are created.

  • Who messed with the printer dialogue for Acrobat Pro 10.1.2??

    We have several printers installed on each computer. When I print manuals that a client has ordered I have to switch between several ways to print all the time (we print all manuals on demand as we sell them). Here are the printers we have installed:
    Printing on one side, A4
    Printing on both sides, A4 (duplex long edge)
    Printing on one side, A4, landscape orientation with staple to the left, slanted
    Printing on one side, A4, portrait orientation with staple to the left, slanted
    Booklet printing (on A3)
    With the upgrade to 10.1.2 Acrobat totally ignores our printer settings when it comes to duplex printing. With the new version of Acrobat, you can find that setting when you open the printer dialogue on the first page, and it doesn't matter what the setting for the printer says, it's that check on the first page that counts.
    Who came up with that "briliant" idea? Now I have to check and uncheck and open the properties for each print job, and that's very time consuming. I don't know how much paper I've had to throw away the last couple of days due to this.
    And when we are talking printer dialogues, can't someone at Adobe fix that the "fit to page" or whatever it's called in English are back to None when you close Acrobat? It's so idiotic that, if you change to "fit to page", it stays there until you choose otherwise. It doesn't matter if you close the program. I would have liked it to be for one printer job only, but if you can't get that, at least that it goes back to None when you close the program. This is not a new "feature", but an old irritating function that soon gives me an ulcer...
    Lena, Sweden

    Yes, we find it diabolical, we will have to retrain everybody (again) and we have not yet worked it all out - I agree with Lena from Sweden, and what happened to "auto rotate and CENTER" empahsis on center !
    We do exactly the same type of work here and are flummoxed by the unheralded changes without much forethought for us production print on demand printers who must use acrobat on a minute by minute basis.
    We are still working this out - not much of an improved dialog in my opinion.

  • PDF file prints fine from Acrobat reader XI, but not Acrobat Standard XI

    I have a 2 page document that is set up as tabloid 11x17, meant to be printed duplexed and folded as a 4 pamphlet.  The document with the same printer settings prints fine from Adobe Reader XI but from Adobe Standard XI, Page 1 prints fine, but page 2 looks like it is  trying to print on the backside of an 81/2x11 instead of 11x17.  I have played with the print settings in Standard, and cannot come up with a combination that prints that document correctly, yet it prints fine from Acrobat Reader XI.  I did double check for updates on both products and installed them.  Anyone have any idea as to why this is happening?  If I print page 2 by itself it does print properly, just not when sent duplexed with page 1.

    Well, for those following this thread or needing a solution, I found a work-around though I'm still not sure why the initial problem exists.
    In Acrobat 9 Pro, once you have the main print dialogue box open, follow the steps below:
    1) Click ADVANCED
    2) Select PRINT AS IMAGE
    3) Set DPI to 300
    4) Click OK
    5) Make any other typical print setup adjustments as you normally would and finish printing as usual

  • Special Standard printer only for acrobat reader, is this possible? Registry Hack

    In my networking earea are a lot of printers also a big toshiba copying mashine.
    While printing a pdf file to it with an PCL6 printer driver it takes a lot of time to print this.
    When i take a Postscript driver it runs faster ...
    so when my users will print pdf's it is difficult to explain them how to print ... an own standard printer for acrobat reader would solve this problem.
    Does anyone have a solution? is there some registry hack?
    regards 2CV6

    In Windows (don't know if this is the case on Mac) in a corporate environment where you are connected to printers via verbose network paths, you can't see the entire path.  The "printer name" gets truncated.  Since the name of the printer is at the right end of the path, you can't see which printer is which.
    It would be handy if they had a function that allowed you to scroll to the right of the printer list and/or throw up a tool tip that gives the entire path.  I'm surprised this hasn't been flagged as a pretty significant issue.

  • Defining print properties for a Livecycle form

    Hi,
    I am working on a form in Livecycle Designer ES2. The form is basically a checklist that has a series of questions and based on the answers to each question, I have made it so that hidden fields will become visible when necessary. The problem I have is that if someone tries to print the form and intends to fill it out as a printed document, then the hidden fields will not show because the necessary actions to reveal them have not happened. I tried creating an action so that when the form is about to be printed, all fields become visible but that defeats the purpose of printing out a form that WAS filled out electronically. Is there any way to create an action so that when the form is printed AND all/most fields are empty, then the necessary fields are set to visible?
    I really appreciate the help. Thanks very much.

    Hi,
    I think this will helps you.
    Copy the following script to the click-event of the Print-button:
    for(var i = 0; i < xfa.host.numPages; i++)
        var oFields = xfa.layout.pageContent(i, "field");
        var nodesLength = oFields.length;
        for(var j = 0; j < nodesLength; j++)
            oFields.item(j).presence = "visible";
    xfa.host.print(1, "0", (xfa.host.numPages -1).toString(), 0, 0, 0, 0, 0);
    This script take a look to all pages to all fields and make them visible.
    Kind regards Mandy

  • We need the installer for Acrobat 7.0 Pro Mac

    We downloaded the installers for Creative Suite 2 since the activation servers had been shut down. However, I cannot find the installer for Acrobat Professional that came with the Premium Suite.

    Ok sorry it has been quite awhile since CS2 was released.  If Acrobat 7 has a separate serial number then please use your original installation media.  If it doesn't have a separate serial number then everything you need is contained in the install files available at the link in message #1.
    Have you tried installing what you have already downloaded?  What version of Mac OS are you using?  Do you have a PowerPC equipped Macintosh?

    OK, let's try more thoroughly uninstalling the hp software for 10.5 using the 'scrubber' option.  First, install the wrong software from the CD (for 10.5) so we can more thoroughly uninstall it.  Next:
    Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
    Highlight your device on the left pane
    Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall << This is the scrubber option
    There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
    Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Now, run a Software Update.
    Finally, download and install the "Full Featured" Driver and Software from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
    Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Print settings for Epson 4880 Stylus Pro - confusing

    Am running LR 1.3 on a PC, Dual-Core, etc.etc. Last week I installed 1.3 and my new Epson 4880 Stylus Pro. Previously, with 1.2 I had been printing with an Epson Stylus 2200 and had no problems.
    The 4880 driver, which is the latest and only driver at this point, brings up print options that I find confusing. It may be just a matter of terminology, but when I use the settthe ings that I think are identical to Photoshop CS3 handling of printing, the image is way too dark. P'shop CS3 prints beautifully with the 4880, exactly what I see on my calibrated monitor.
    I want to let the Adobe engine handle the printing in LR, yet when I set the 4880 print setting to "No Color Adjustment" and show the proper 4880 profile in the LR settings, the resulting print is too dark. When I set it to "ICM Advanced" and enter the monitor profile, the printer profile, and the Rendering Intent, everything prints beautifully. I thought these settings, the "ICM Advanced", handed everything off to the printer, which I don't want. Am I just confused about which settings lets the Adobe engine do things? I've read Evening's LR book and anything else I can find about the Print Module, but the 4880 driver is different enough from the 2200 to create confusion. Also, the PC and Mac drivers have some different options.
    I think the 4880 driver is very similar to the 4800, so if any user can help, I'd appreciate your advice.

    Because when you start a new thread someone inevitibly gets on you for not searching for an existing thread.
    I have an HP 2509m monitor.  There is no luminance setting but according to specs it's 300 nits.  Brightness is set to 90.  I can't find anywhere that will give me the cd/m2.  I really don't think it's the monitor since my Epson R1900 does not have the same issue.  I played with the settings some more and it seems color density is the only thing that make a noticable difference.  I turned off color controls on the printer and used CS4 for color management.  Set the ICM to the right printer and paper.  That DID make a difference but not much - still very dark printout.  And I'm not talking a little darker than what's on the screen - I'm talking black where it shoud be gray.
    Here's the picture I'm having trouble with.  This is reduced in quality so I could post it, but you can still see what I'm talking about.  Note the building on the very bottom.  To the right of that are some hills that are dark green and you can make out some of the detail of a road with parked cars along it.  They're dark, but you can make them out.  In the printout, pretty much everything except the building is black.
    http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy173/pdeys/DSC_0067_comp.jpg
    Can you see the green hills on your monitor?
    I thought it might be the paper so I tried it with glossy instead of semigloss.  Same result.

  • Acrobat 9.5 Pro not responding

    Tried to get support through chat but I have to pay! the other day it just decided to "not respond". It opens for a few seconds, which still allows me to convert docs to pdf and save, but nothing else. Can't do any updates either (I always allow the "frequent" updates anyway). Thinking it's time to give Adobe away and find an alternative product. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't see that people should be forced to constantly outlay big money for the latest versions.

    1) Opened PDF where most of the pages have all page boxes set to zero, with media box (true page size) set to 6" x 9". One subset of pages has a media box of 6.25" x 9.25", but the trim box is set to 0.125" on all sides.
    2) Ran a preflight profile with the option "Page size or orientation differs from page to page" set to "Error", as it has been on all previous versions of Acrobat.
    3) "Page size or orientation differs from page to page" error does not get triggered.
    4) Tried same preflight profile settings on same PDF in Acrobat 7. Error does get triggered.
    5) Tried same preflight profile settings on same PDF on a copy of Acrobat 9 not fully updated to 9.5. Error does get triggered.
    6) Tried on various machines with 9.5 update. Error does not get triggered on any.
    I can only conclude that something has changed in the latest update.

  • PDF help. printing PDFs make acrobat or reader go not responding.

    Whenever i try to print or go to print setup in either Acrobat or Reader it cause the program to not respond and i will have to exit the program and it will not print. But if i right-click a .pdf file (like saved on my desktop) and click print it will print just fine.... I am using Acrobat 8.2.6....i think. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    As Michael said, it is probably a conflict between the two. You may be able to uninstall Reader (assume you have Reader 9) and repair Acrobat. Uninstalling one will usually break the other and the repair should fix it.

  • Standard users forced default "run as administrator" for acrobat.exe X pro

    The software has been reinstalled and patched CS6 all componets of CS6 run fine under a standard user account with the exception of Acrobat Pro.  Acrobat Pro runs fine when an administrator is logged in BUT when a standard user logs into the computer all application shortcuts and even direct execution of the exe insists on "running as administrator", seeing as though they are not an administrator they can not run Acrobat Pro X.  Any assistance would be grealtly appreciate.

    I'm not saying Norton is your problem, but I haven't heard good things about Norton software in a long time, unfortunately.
    I always recommend Avast! antivirus to people.  The free version is very good in itself, and they offer a more comprehensive Internet Security version as well.
    I don't know how technically-oriented you are, but if you do understand how things work fairly well and have taken measures and adopted good practices to avoid running malware, there is the possibility of just shutting off UAC (MIcrosoft User Account Control) if its operation continually gets in the way of your completing your work.  Typically, most people just get in the habit of confirming whatever prompts come up anyway, which defeats most of the protection UAC can afford.
