Printing PS CS4

I'm currently having an issue while I'm printing from PS CS4 to my Epson Pro 7800. I print on a 24" roll and try to save as much material as I possible can. When I used PS CS2 there was an option to Auto-Rotate when you printed so the long side of the image would print on the Long side of the roll being used. This would help save some materials in the long run. Now, when I print and check the Auto-Rotate option, I can't get the image to rotate to save paper. I'm using a MAC

Hi DYP,
I apologize if people thought I was making political or some other kind of statement. Yes, help is what I'm after.
OS: 10.5.5
Printer: Epson 2200
Driver: 3.09 (found that in /Library/Printer/EPSON/InkjetPrinter/SP2200.plugin)
LR 2.2: in the Print Setting, I'm using No Color Management and in the Print Job panel Color Management is set to an appropriate profile from Ilford matching the paper, inkset, and printer, Rendering Intent is Relative.
PS CS4: Color Handling is set to Photoshop Manages Colors, the same profile is being used as in LR, Rendering Intent is Relative Colorimetric.
Driver settings: Color management is set to No Color Adjustment
I've tested with the same photo on several occasions. I typically use a working space of ProPhoto RGB. Images look the same in both PS and LR on screen.
Haven't done anything with a control photo. Don't know anything about them.
I profile the monitor monthly with a Spyder.
When I say that the prints look dark in PS compared to LR, I'm guessing it's around 2 to 3 EV darker. Color is OK.
A few months ago, when I profiled my monitor (iMac), I set the gamma to 2.2 on advice from others. At that point, I noticed that my prints were dark. I subsequently profiled it back to 1.8. I believe that printing with PS CS3 was fine at that point. I wasn't printing with LR then. I upgraded to PS CS4. I may have changed my default color space from Adobe RGB to ProPhoto RGB. But, I would think that it would just get out of gamut issues if this was the problem.
Thanks, Hal

rying to get Photoshop CS4 functional with Mavericks and an Epson 3880 printer. CS4 fails to send a file to the print queue. Have reinstalled the Epson 3880 driver for Mavericks. All looks good but no file is sent.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

What EXACT version of Photoshop CS4 are you running?  You should be on Photoshop CS4 v 11.0.2.
Also run Apple's software update to see whether it offers you the latest Epson update:
    Printer Driver v9.33
Epson Stylus Pro 3880, Drivers & Downloads - Technical Support - Epson America, Inc.
MOST IMPORTANTLY:  have Photoshop re-create its own Preferences:
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by manually deleting the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
NEW Video! Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here:
How to Reset Photoshop CS6’s Preferences File | The Complete Picture with Julieanne Kost | Adobe TV
    Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If  you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.

  • Printing in CS4

I have just started using CS4, having upgraded from CS2.  When I go to print in the print dialog box and go to the Printer Profiles box I am unable to see or select my paper profiles for my Epson 2200 and R300 printers.  There is a large number of profiles, primarily various color spaces, but only one paper profile for my Epson 2200.  There also isn't any arrow or other way to scroll through the display to see the missing paper profiles.  All of the missing profiles are the standard paper profiles provided by Epson either with the printers or from their website.  Do I need to reinstall these profiles in some way in CS4 or is there something else I should be doing to be able to access these profiles?

    Mark,
The 2200 is a good machine. I used it for prints for a museum show. Some sold.
I'm glad the problem is solved.
One problem is the color changing, depending upon light source, pigments. I normally use matte papers so "bronzing" never was much of a problem.
Thanks for the tip! I am not happy about the "ease" of use of either Photoshop's printing post CS OR the driver for the new Epson.

    Bill,
Thanks for your response to my question.  After not getting any responses
to my question for several days I went back to CS4 and tried again to
locate the paper profiles.  At that time I learned that although there is
no arrow to allow scrolling through the list of profiles I could click on
the list and use the mouse wheel to scroll through the list.  At that
point I could see that all my paper profiles were available.
Thanks again for your help.  My 2200 keeps going along.  Sometimes it
amazes my how durable it has been.
    Mark Haffey
Do your paper profiles show up when you try to soft proof the images in
CS-4? if you still have CS-2 installed, does IT show them? This should
confirm that they haven't been corrupted, erased, hexed, etc.
    Â
Have you tried soft proofing, and leaving soft proof turned on while
trying to print? I had to do that when i switched from CS-2 to CS-4, but I
also, at the same time, switched to a different Epson printer when my 2200
    finally died.
    Â
I hope this is of some help.

I have downloaded and installed from Apple the HP Drivers for Snow Leopard.
I have downloaded and installed from Apple the HP Drivers for Leopard.
    I have rebooted endlessly.
No drivers appear in printer set-up except for my Epson Perfection 1260 Photo Scanner.
Using HP Printer Utility does not recognize any print drivers I have installed in the past two days.
I tried using CUPS from the free source group and this printer is not supported in their list.
My printer worked perfectly in Leopard for printing receipts and memos.

Sorry but your post says that you downloaded HP drivers from Apple, not HP.  Be careful with the information you provide if you want an accurate answer.

  • Duplex Printing (InDesign CS4 v6.0 document from Reader)

I have a 26.55MB PDF file with lots of graphics downloaded from a website and using Reader 9.0.  The document was created with InDesign CS4, v6.0.  It is set up to print duplex on 8.5 x 11 paper with room for punch holes.  I am working with VISTA sp2, 32 bit OS and an HP photosmart 7350 (not equipped with automatic duplex printing, but will duplex manually) with an HP deskjet 5550 print driver.  I have two major issues:
1-The pages are designed to print to the edge of the page (color tabs) and my printer designates a print area.  Is there any way to change the print area on my printer?
2-The print setup will not recognize the document as double sided when I configure it to print double sided manually.  Then I tried printing odd first, then even.  It prints every other odd, then when I turn and refeed the document, it prints the other odds.  When I select even, it prints every even correctly.
Please help!  I need this 864 (432 double) page doc printed asap and trying to avoid printer costs.  Also afraid a printer might have the same problem???

Thank you. When I reinstalled InDesign I ticked the box to replace the preferences but the reinstall did  not do this. I know now because INDD did not open to that splash window as it did when I followed this tip.
    Always the simple solution....
At least I *hope* this is the solution. I have only tried it in one bit which had crashed before. (I'll revisit this list if it does not work)
InDesign was so bad yesterday I was seriously thinking of going back to Quark.

  • Can't print from CS4 (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)

    Here is the issue...
When I try to print from any of the CS4 programs (illustrator, photoshop, or acrobat) most times I get the
spinning color wheel and eventually the application quits.  Sometimes I do get to the print dialog box but that's as far as
I get.  The color wheel will start spinnng again.
Both CS4 and CS2 are installed on my computer.  It is a Mac mini.
However, when I log on under a different profile (administrator) it prints fine.
I had an issue with CS2 and had to create a new profile.  Then I got CS4, still using the newly created profile.
    Thoughts?

We followed your instructions, deleting the Settings folder and then
    removing
the main printer (Konika Minolta Bizhb 450 (Fiery X3eTY)).  We then
    put the
    printer's IP address back in.
After this, we test printed a file in Illustrator to a Dell (which we
    did not
    uninstall).  It printed without issue.
After reinstalling a driver from Minolta's site (Fiery X3eTY 35C-KM
    PS v2.0
eu), all of the presets (including the user login information) were
    back.  We
then attempted to print from Illustrator.  The print dialog box
    popped up
without any problems.  When we selected "Printer," the color wheel began
spinning.  After a few minutes, the Force Quit option said that
    Illustrator
    was not responding.
This is what we are running on specifically:
    Mac mini
    Mac OS X 10.4.11
Process 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo
    Memory 1.25 GB 667 Mz DDR2 SDRAM
The memory info reads as follows
Memory Slot         Size    Type            Speed       Status
    Bank 0/DIMM0        1 GB    DDR2 SDRAM      667 MHz     OK
    Bank 1/DIMM1        256 MB  DDR2 SDRAM      667 MHZ     OK

  • Establishing a printer in CS4

I've recently installed the CS4 upgrade (64bit) on my new Vista machine and have come to start printing pages from a catalogue I produce when File>Print comes up with the message 'to use this feature you need a printer installed (obviously). The bizarre thing is that I have installed one that every other App on my machine uses to print from - is this a common problem - I can't find out much about this on the web - I was just wondering if there was a simple solution or whether I'm being completely dum about a simple setting? I'm just getting very frustrated now!
    Cheers
    D

    Hi,
I've done this loads of times to no avail but finally....
This afternoon I was fiddling around and it struck me to try a completely new document. Low and behold I could get the print dialogue up for this new document. It came to pass that the documents that I had originally created for printing obviously had some kind of corruption in the cache. I've re built the documents from new (it's not too bad as they are each made up from parts of about 3 other docs and everything is now printing fine, except of course the original set which have now been confined to the big recycle bin in the sky.
    Thanks for your help.

I wish to print a 13x19 photo on my Epson Photo Stylus R3000.  After entering all the info correctly with paper size, type, quality, etc I get a print with a one inch blank border on the top and bottom.  I called Epson and they said it was not their problem, it must be something with Adobe.  I am using Photoshop CS4 and Windows 7.  Help, please.  Doro

So, I found this little piece of info on Epson's site, the question doesn't quite match our problem, but the answer (you would think) would fix us...
Q: I don’t see my printer driver on the Epson Macintosh Snow Leopard Support page. Where can I find a Mac OS 10.6.x driver for my product?
    A: Try the following:
Rosetta needs to be installed in Snow Leopard. If necessary, install Rosetta.
Go to Drivers & Support, select your product category, then select your product name.
Select Drivers & Downloads, then select Macintosh Operating Systems from the drop-down list and click Go.
Download the Macintosh 10.5.x drivers for your product.
Note: If there are no Macintosh OS X 10.5.x drivers available for your product, download and install the Macintosh OS X 10.4.x drivers and the Common Updater software for your product.
Follow the on screen instructions to finish the driver installation.
I followed the instructions to the letter.... no results, I still don't see the driver in the drop-down list of available Printer Drivers!

  • Problems with collate print in CS4/windows

I have to make 200 booklets in InDesign, but since i have got CS4 I can´t collate. I print 200 pages of page 1 and then 200 page of page 2 and so on. It it a large job to make booklets out of that afterwards. In my old version it was a piece of cake and just worked......
Do any of you have the solution for that????

Try opening CS3 and trying it there just for a few pages, make sure it's working.
Then Define a Print Setting based on these settings, and then import that setting into CS4.
From the Print Dialog box you can "Save Preset"
Then go to File>Print Presets>Define and then save the preset to your hard drive
Then in CS4 go to File>Print Presets>Define and import that preset.
    See if that does it?
I think  you're just missing a switch in Cs4 to do it, but that should work considering it's using the same settings used in CS3.

  • Epson 3800 Printer & Photoshop CS4

I've had the snow leopard disc since it came out some 6 months ago, but haven't installed it due to so many issue that I've read about.
    1) Is anyone using snow leopard successfully with the Epson 3800 Printer? Epson has yet to release (if they ever will remains a mystery for owners of this printer) a full-fledged update for the driver.
    2) Is anyone using Photoshop CS4 with snow leopard without issues?
    Thanks.

Well Adobe did it again offering a discount to convert to CS5 just before they released a new version of PSE that is PSE9 for mac
Tested it and the colours come out perfectly just like CS5 and they acutally left in the option on the print screen to select "NO COLOUR MANAGEMENT". In CS5 they pulled it out and as PSE9 appears to be made up of CS5 they must have back tracked on this option after the yelling and screaming from the community.
However we now have(another problem) an issue with grey/cyan printing outside the image area being printed see

    cheers.

  • Printing In  CS4 Help!!!

In CS3 you could print multiple images on a sheet like a photo studio by going to File-Automate-Print Package and in CS4 that option isn't there and I can't find any information on it. Does anyone know what I am talking about or can anyone help me Please???? Thank YOU

In Elements 5.0 (and maybe others) there is an extraordinarily useful, but apparently totally undocumented feature, whereby hitting Control-N opens up a new sheet in whatever size you specify, and onto which you can drag (from the Photo Bin) two, three, four, any number of photos you want, resize them and arrange them as you like, provide them with captions or descriptions if you like. And then you can print them, save them if you like, etc.
CS4 will open a similar sheet with Control-N, but how you drag or otherwise place photos onto it remains a mystery to me (I'm new to CS4) because there seems to be no equivalent to the Photo Bin. So at the moment I keep PE 5.0 on my computer for this kind of printing.
Why is there no information to be had on Control-N? or if it's there, why is it so well hidden?

  • Printing Issue CS4 paper size SRA3

Hi I am using InDesign CS4, I am wanting to print on SRA3 paper which i have been doing so without any problem until I updated my computer.
I deactivated the program before uninstalling, it is now re-installed and the printer settings have all disappeared.
When i go to print SRA3, the printing area on the thumb print is in the bottom left hand corner. All my 'behind the scenes' settings are all set up as SRA3.
It is so frustrating can anybody please help me?
    Thank you

  • Printing ID CS4 Spell Check Marks

I'm running ID CS4 on a Mac OSX Leopard. ID has the nice feature of underlining misspelled words, but they are only visible onscreen. I'd like to be able to print these marks. I've looked through the print dialogue box, I've searched help, but with no success. If this is possible to do, can someone tell me how to do it? Thanks.

As far as I know, this is not possible.

  • Printing in CS4 InDesign

I have CS4 Creative Suite Mac Indesign.  My problem is that whenever I attempt to print a file, the computer takes about a minute and then crashes the program.   I can export and print a pdf file, but can't print to any printer.  I deleted the two files suggested by Adobe (pref and saved), but it had no  effect on the problem.  Any suggestions?

I know of users who never print directly from InDesign. In my experience, it's just not one of the things InDesign does well, and you may be better off avoiding it.

That's the favorable workflow. Is there a reason you feel you must print directly from InDesign?
