Hi Dinesh,
i can give u an idea you just try this.
There is something called Printer File in Report i belive you know that...if not just check in your system .Prt file, this file will be there in your system where you installed your Report(If you are using Reports 6i then check the Directory Report60/Printers, in this directory you will get all printer file like Wide etc.)
You can open this file and see the text inside this it will be........
printer "wide"
height 66
width 132
after page control(L)
return control(M)
linefeed control(J)
in this file change the height...default is 66 reduce it and see may be your problem will solve.
And this printer file WIDE you need to assign in the reports System Parameters - DESFORMAT.

Mail started printing messages in a much smaller format than one selected in preferences. I can change to a larger format and the size increases, but the printed message doesn't increase to what is selected, it's still smaller. I don't change settings regularly so what's wrong?
When the Print Dialog comes up, see if this is checked under the Mail option...

I have a report region based on sql query. I want to print that report region in PDF or word format. How can I do that.
It may further be stated that I dnt have print server configured. Is it possible to do this wihout the configuration of report server.Syed,
If you want to use the PDF printing functionality built into APEX 3.0, you do have to configure a print server, see this document for further information:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html
There have been discussions on other solutions on this forum, but whichever solution you choose, you'll need to install something that actually generates a PDF or Word (or RTF) document. As an alternative, you could perhaps use the CSV export to open your report in Excel, that option is available out of the box.

There is a table which consists data for several months,
and I am trying to use oracle forms as parameter form

The requirement is one month per page.
As always, looking forward to great ideas.

(9iAS) problem printing reports in pdf format on NT client
Hi
Some details first:
iAS version=9.0.2.3.0
Reports Version=9.0.2.0.3
Portal Version=9.0.2.3b
Client NT Version=4 SP4
Via a portal connection, a report is called by following a series of hyperlinks and the resulting url is like below:
http://devoc4j.testcentre.co.uk/nrdms/xml/xmlResultSetPDF.xml?PID=eip&SID=vPXP9kQLR2NK1us1004&RID=aGa3Bhbn2PkffA81014&DOCID=2uRpdWVlscVNCab1012&&ieh=report.pdf
This report produces a pdf output fine for a client that has Win2K, however, with Windows NT we receive the following error message:
The requested URL could not be retrieved
While trying to retrieve the URL:
http://devoc4j.testcentre.co.uk/nrdms/xml/xmlResultSetPDF.xml?PID=eip&SID=vPXP9kQLR2NK1us1004&RID=aGa3Bhbn2PkffA81014&DOCID=2uRpdWVlscVNCab1012&&ieh=report.pdf
The following error was encountered:
Unable to determine IP address from host name for unknown server name
This means that:
The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
Check if the address is correct.
This is consistent across all NT client boxes.
I have changed the following settings on the NT boxes:
Select TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS > LAN
SETTINGS and uncheck AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS
This has had no effect, the problem is still existent. Does anyone have any ideas why?
Apologies for the length of the message, it's just to make it all clear!!
Regards
Andy1. From Task Bar at bottom of screen, Select Start, ALL Programs, and Open Adobe Reader

4. Click Internet
5. Remove check mark for Display PDF in browser
6. Click ok
7a. Close Adobe Reader
7b Restart your PC to apply changes
8. Run your app
9. Generate a PDF report
10. A pop window will appear and check remember and then click ALLOW. Click Remember my action for this site.
11. You may need to Enter username and password (this needs to be done only once to initialize the connection between Adobe and Oracle login app) or if the password/username changes. -
XML PO PRINT REPORT for different Operating Units
Hi all,
We are stuck at a point, hope someone helps us out.
Requirement : We need to generate PO print report in pdf format for US and Mexico , both having different layout.
Things done : We customized standard PO Print report to fetch XML output from it, and attached rtf(developed) to it.
Things working fine : For US , report is perfectly fine and looks good.
Issue : We need to generate for Mexico as well with different format.
We have value in xml tags which can distinguish between US and Mexico OU's and we can simple use if else condition in the template itself .
Here limitation is we have made MS word header as the PO header so we are not able to create different header for Mexico in the same rtf.
We dont want to complicate the rtf much with more loops by removing it from Header and then page break and all.
Can someone suggest something like use one rtf which handles both the format OR two different rtf registered for same concurrent program and which are called on the base OU.
We are totally fine if we can do something while registering to Apps.
Please let me know if any one wants more information.
Hoping for a positive reply.
Thanks in advance.Hi Vishal,
Assuming you are using R12+, you can have seperate templates used for differrent OUs. In the PO Approval workflow it shall pick the respective template.
During submission of concurrent program "PO Output for Communication", you can specify the right template in the input parameters.

OTOH, if you wish to provide software to facilitate the local printing, you might launch an application on the client side that accesses the JNLP API's PrintService - that can be done in a sandboxed application.
A signed application might access the normal J2SE based print services. Though I heard that Sun had decided to make printing a 'prompt on first attempt' deal - even for sandboxed apps., from 1.5 plus (or was it 1.6 plus?).
It would be a serious security bug if a web site could print on the client printer, without trust or active involvement from the end user. -

Unable to print xml publisher report in excel format in R12
Hi All,
We are unable to print xml publisher report in excel format in R12. We were able to see the excel output but it's printing junk characters while printing and it's printing without any issue with PDF format.
Please let me know how to fix this issue.
Thanks,
RajaHi Raja,
I presume you have gone through the debugging process of testing your template locally first to get the expected result.....
If yes, this note might probably be helpful "Changing Output Format to RTF or Excel in XML Publisher Request Does Not Display Output Correctly (Doc ID 404512.1)"

SQL Plus command to print a report in Landscape format

Hi,
what is the SQL Plus command to print a report in Landscape format?SQLPlus doesn't print, and it doesn't know about 'landscape' vs. 'portrait' any more than it knows about fonts. the only 'formatting' it knows is line size, page size. And all it does with line size is know where to insert a CR/LF pair (windows) or a CR (*nix). The only thing it knows to do with page size is repeat column headers.
The rest is up to whatever application you use to open the pure asciii text spool file. -

Acrobat reader defaulting to 51% zoom size when opening and printing Report
We are publishing reports on a web-integrated acrobat reader. All the reports work fine except for 1 report. The problem with this particular report is that when it opens up in the acrobat reader, it's zoom size automatically defaults to 51%. Then when we print it in landscape mode, it prints with the same zoom-size settings. Even if we try printing after expanding the zoom size to 100%, it still prints to the smaller size and leaves nearly 40% of the paper blank. It works ok with client-server settings as well as when we use HTML or HTMLCSS format to print on the browser. We are using the run_report_object built-in to open the report which is a parameter report.
Other reports with identical settings work and print fine. Is this a Oracle Reports problem or acrobat problem.
We are using Forms 6.0.8.19.2, Reports v6.0.8.18.0, iAS v1.0.2.2.2a, Acrobat reader v5.0, IE 5.5 with SP2, Windows 2000 Server.
Report fonts are Courier New with size 6.
Any ideas/solutions aprreciated. Thanks!And so.. what is invalid?
I've uploaded the pdf files as example:
My generated pdf
http://compuhelp.free.fr/adobe/before.pdf
The modified version by Adobe Acrobat Reader:
http://compuhelp.free.fr/adobe/after.pdf
(I can generate a more complexe pdf file with fonts, images,... it will be displayed correctly, but Adobe always want to modifiy it).
So perhaps I missed somthing into the pdf file format specification ? -
Hello All,
While printing the FI reports(FBl5n) from SAP we are facing a problem like the fonts are small. The report is not fully using the A4 paper. The device type we are using is sapwin the printer we are using HP laserjet1018 and it support sapwin.How we can increase the font with respect to the papaersize.
TomHi,
Please find the below steps I think it may help you :
Go to START --> SETTINGS ---> Printers
Right click on HP laserjet1018 ... Properties..
General Tab --> Printing Preferences --> Advanced --> Paper Size --> A4
HP laserjet1018 --> Properties --> Advanced Tab
Printing Defaults --> Advanced --> Paper Size -> A4
HP laserjet1018 --> Properties --> Device Settings tab -> Autoselect - ->A4
Key points of this solution, If the SAP spool server and the Microsoft Windows spool system are not on the same host, you must create a remote PC connection to the printer and force paper size to be A4
By the way, adjust HP laserjet1018 from "EXEC" to "A4" in Tray 3 physically too. After that print List in A4 Format successfully.
Change some attributes(ex. font name & size) in print control of SPAD followed by SAP Notes 21738.

Issue while exporting report in Excel Format
Hello,
I am facing problem while exporting the report in Excel Format. After analysis, I think that it could be due to two reasons, either we are using wrong versions of Jars, or we are using wrong API. Here is the code, approaches and problems we are facing. Please help.
First approach we are using is:
// using basic API
import com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.ReportClientDocument;
// get client document from crystal report API and open the report by specifying the report name, with path
ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
reportClientDoc.open( reportPath, 0 );
// give chance to extending classes to configure the report document by POJO or by sql parameter etc, just adding the parameters infromation using ParameterFieldController
configureReportDocument( reportClientDoc, reportMetadata, reportData, reportContext );
// get data source of crystal report
Object reportSource = reportClientDoc.getReportSource();
// export the data - we have also tried with MSExcel format
ReportExportFormat exportFormat = ReportExportFormat.recordToMSExcel;
LOGGER.debug( "exportFormat[" + exportFormat + "]" );
ByteArrayInputStream byteArray = (ByteArrayInputStream) reportClientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(
exportFormat );
Problem Faced: Specified Excel format is not supported.
Second Approach: We come to know that excel format is supported with new releases and with occa package.
Then we tried with import com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument; It ask to set the ReportServer. When we are trying to set the server as
reportClientDoc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
Application is unable to find 'ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString' property. It seems like we are using some old jars. However we have downloaded the latest released jars for eclipse 2.
Please help for it. Issue is to export the report in excel format, which is currently working fine for PDF. If this problem is related to Jars, please suggest the path to download the latest jars. We also looking for the latest jars like rasapp and rascore etc. But these are not available with Crystal Report for Eclipse 2 release.
Waiting for urgent help. Thanks you..
