Printing/Scanning Problem with HP All-In-One

As you will see, I am a bit confused as to how my Mac is talking to my HP all in one. I am having printing and scanning problems. When I try to print, nothing happens. I go to print status and the print job is there but the printer is not printing. I try pausing, deleting and trying to print again, hold to no avail. It recognizes the job, it just won't print.
Scanning is similar. Most of the time I end up with an error message "The scan cannot be performed because another program has control of the HP imaging device". It directs me to restart the program, close all programs, re-boot the computer. I have done all of these and no go. In addition, no other programs are running at the time.
As far as my computer recognizing the HP, it does in both wifi and bluetooth. I have made it my default printer.
I have a time capsule as a router and everything is set up properly for it. Four bars are shown indicating it is acting properly. Both it and bluetooth are turned on. The HP status lights are on for both wifi and bluetooth.
I have checked with HP and Apple Support and could not find anything that addresses my issue. Please help!!
Thanks

I had a similar problem awhile back with my HP F2210 all-in-one. I basically re-downloaded all of the software for the printer from HPs site. Before re-installing, I did a safe boot. Then, I reinstalled and restarted and all was well. When software update told me there was a new driver available, I installed it and things still worked. I'm able to print, scan, and all the printer is supposed to do without a hitch.

  • Printing problem with 5610v all-in-one.

After replaceing a print cartridge the printer started printing with a shadow. That is, the print has a second light image before the main character is printed. I do not know why this is happening and I need to change the charicteristics of the printing back to normal. I have cleaned the new cartridge and I have replaced the cartridge. I have also aligned the cartridge but nothing helps. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. My all-in-one is a little over two years old and I use Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bits.

    Try doing this:
    1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
    2. Wait for a minute or two.
    3. Reconnect power cord directly to the wall outlet.
    4. While the printer is still unplug from the back, press and hold the pound (#) and six (6) buttons at the same time.
    5. While holding the pound (#) and three (6) buttons, reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer and then release the buttons.
    6. Turn on the printer if it won't turn on after some time.
    7. Follow the instructions on the LCD.
    8. Try doing a copy in black after the reset is successful.
Please keep me posted if it works.

  • Mac OS 10.7 printer problem with 6500 all-in-one wireless

HP 6500 all-in-one wirelss: After configuring (and reconfiguring) the printer and exhausting all the troubleshooting steps suggested by HP, I still have the problem of prints stalling in the queue or, alternately, printing very very slowly. Wireless connectivity is "excellent" according to the Wireless Network Test Report. When printing, printer is found, display says "Connected to Printer" then the barber-pole spins and spins and eventually the word "Idle" appears. Any suggestions on how to get printer to work?

This article should help to maintain wireless connection:

I have a Mac OS X snow leopard and an HP 1317 all-in-one printer.  Although it says that the printer is ready it still remains idle and won't print. I've checked everything I can think of: unplugged the printer for a while and made sure I have clicked on Resume  etc.  Please could someone help? Thanks.  I did have suggestions from someone and this helped for a while but now having problems again.

Thanks for your suggestions.  I've now uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software but am still having the message that there are components missing from the software so I still cannot print my documents.  I'm totally baffled and feel like slinging the computer through the window!!! If you havae any more ideas please feel free to pass them on to me.

  • Problem with Microsoft All-in-One Media Keyboard

    Hello,
I found a problem with this keyboard when I was playing game. If I'm holding Shift + W and then i'm pressing D too (to turn right or rather to walk straight and to the right) it doesn't work. This same is happening if I'm holding Shift + D +
    W. But other combinations are working, like pressing Shift + W + A or Shift + S + D, etc. First I thougt that it is some game issue or program had keyboard shortcut and it's interfering
with game. But I tried in notepad and it wasn't working too. After all it is not Windows 8.1 issue, because I launched ubuntu live cd and this problem still exist even there.
Now what can I do with it? Go to warranty shop?

    Hi,
Did this keyboard hotkeys work previously? Maybe this function only works in specific program or game.
Keep latest driver and software for the keyboard.
According to your description, best choice I think is sending the keyboard to the warranty shop.

  • Intermittent Print/Scan Problems with Canon MF8380Cdw on Wireless Network

For nearly a year now, I've experienced problems printing and scanning using the Canon MF8380Cdw on our network.  The most troubling are the intermitent problems getting the printer to respond during a print job after the device has been found on the network.  Less troubling but still annoying are the problems scanning: it's very difficult to initiate a scan job.  It usually requires trying to initiate the job from the printer AND from the computer in quick succession.  I have reinstalled drivers many times.  Why isn't printing and scanning effortless?
Print sequence messages in the Canon MF8300C Series print manager:
Printing - Looking for printer: takes a long time.
Printing - Connecting to printer: takes a long time.
Printing - The printer is not responding: takes a long time; indicates failure.
    Some information that may help:
The client software correctly identifies the printer's IP address.
The wirless router is an Apple Airport Extreme Basestation.

Base station, laptop, and printer are all in the same corner of the same room--signal strength is not an issue. Have had problems, previously, when printer was connected to switch via ethernet.  So...  Nice thought, but I don't believe that's it.
Other things that didn't work: restarting printer, restarting computer.
Is it possible that OS updates mess with the driver, requiring reinstallation?  Our PC users do not seem to have these issues.
I am also using a non-UFR II driver this time, but per a suggestion from a forum, I tried UFR II previously.  I have read many forum exchanges involving Canon/Mac problems and have tried several solutions proposed by PAHU.
Reinstalled printer driver again today, and I can print again (for now), but it's an intermittent problem, likely to return.
    Thoughts?

  • Consolidating scanned document with HP all in one 8620 and windows xp

Using the HP Printer assistant I am unable to consolidate the multiple pages of particular documents into one file.  I do not know if printer asst allows this capability.  It sounded like I needed to download hp director from online info.  please help.

    Hi,
    Please try:
After the first page, click add pages (a small + sign, on the left hand side of the preview window) to add the second page
    Repeat for 3rd, 4th .... pages
At the end, Save document. All pages are now on one file, from the first page to the last page.

  • Problems with HP All-in-One (4280)

Okay, I have a new iMac. I connected my HP printer/scanner. The printer works fine but when I try to use the scanner I get an error message saying there is no USB connection.
I've also tried installing the software and it hangs up at the device setup (final stage) every time.
Anyone have similar problems? Anyone solve it? Any suggestions otherwise?
    Thanks,
    Todd

I am visiting with my aunt for a few days who has the printer ( and the Mac) -
first question she had was: why does this message come up when Mac starts -->
"HP Photosmart 4280 printer not found in the printer list "
I clicked on the Edit Printer List button... and it was already there -
but knowing that things can get corrupted, I deleted the printer from the list
and told it to add it again -- well, this seemed to work on restart --
but I believe that message is reappearing now whenever she starts the Mac --
wonder if there's an elegant solution to this ...
the 2nd question she had was with printing from the memory card when it is plugged into the printer -- the 4x6 pictures we printed had better color and saturation than when we printed from the Mac -- used the same picture, same paper, everything ... but there was a distinct difference. Anybody else see this yet ?
    Thanks

How do you get a MacBook with OS X (10.6.8) print to an HP 4500 all in one wireless printer?

Go to http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html and ensure you have the latest printer drivers loaded. Also, HP will often post the steps to enable the wireless functions when setting up the AIO functions.

My printer is a fairly new all-in-one Brother MFC-7860 DW. It is not listed in the iPad AirPrint printers. Can I get it to work with my new iPad2?

If it's not an Airprint enabled printer, you can not natively through your iPad.  BUT, there are apps you can purchase in the App Store, like Print Central ($9), which is what I use myself and works well for my needs.

  • Scanning problem with HP Photosmart C6180

Since the upgrade to 10.6 my HP C6180 multifunction printer is not working as a scanner from Adobe Acrobat Pro 9
I select from the acrobat menu:
    File
    CreatePDF
    From Scanner
in the "acrobat scan" window Scanner: shows "Please select a device" but there is nothing in the drop down list!
This means that i can not scan a document to PDF from within Adobe Acrobat pro. I can scan through preview but preview does not provide the same features that Acrobat Pro does.
Any Ideas? I have re-installed the adobe software but no joy...

Had scanning problem after uploading Snow Leopard -
    This will fix your problem!
Scanning with the software included in Mac OS X 10.6
New with Snow Leopard, the Scanning interface to these HP Inkjet All-in-One devices is now built into Snow Leopard and supported with the Apple Image Capture application. There are three ways to perform scanning from your HP All-in-One:
    Preview program
    Image Capture program
System Preferences > Print & Fax
Important: After you open the scan interface, it is important to select the correct mode ( Flatbed or Document Feeder ) for the source of the scan image. Your HP All-in-One may have an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or a flatbed lid. By default, Document Feeder will be the automatically selected Mode for any devices that have an ADF. You must select Flatbed if you want to scan directly from the glass flatbed and not the Document Feeder.
For more information about Scanning and Image Capture, open the Help menu from Mac OS X 10.6 and type in your question.
Method one: Scan from the Preview application
Click the Apple Preview icon in the dock to open the Preview application.
From the Preview File pull-down menu, choose Import from Scanner .
Choose the HP Photosmart, Officejet, or Deskjet All-in-One.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Method two: Scan from the Image Capture application
In the Applications folder, select and open Image Capture .
In the list of devices on the left, click your HP All-in-One.
Networked devices appear in the Shared list.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Method three: Scan from Print & Fax > Printer browser
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences .
    Click Print & Fax .
In the list of printers on the left side of the dialog, select the HP All-in-One to view the options in the Print & Fax window.
Click the Scan tab, and then click Open Scanner .
    The Printer Browser window appears.
Click the Scan icon at top right of the toolbar to launch scanning.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Important Gotcha: If the Scan or Print icons do not appear in the Printer Browser window toolbar, you need to delete the current HP printer queue and add a new one, as follows:
Close the Printer Browser window to return to the Print & Fax preference pane. Or, go directly to the System Preferences > Print & Fax pane.
Select your HP printer in the list on the left.
Click the - sign at the bottom of the list to delete the product from the list.
Click the + sign at the bottom of the list to add the product back to the list.
Select your HP printer, and then click Add to create a new print queue.
The next time you open the Printer Browser window, the Print and Scan icons should appear in the toolbar, providing access to Image Capture.

I get SEND A FAX Window when I try to print in Word on HP All in One J5780 on Windows 7. I recently moved to Windows 7 64 bit and Word 2010 and download the latest software for my J5780

    HI,
GO to the control panel and check which printer is listed as the default printer. Most likely this is the J5780 (fax) instead of the J5780. Right click the correct  printer icon and choose "use a default" to correct it.

  • Problem with starting more than one SwingWorker

    Hello
I wonder if anyone could tell me if there are known problems with starting more than one SwingWorker thread at once?
In response to an action the user performs, I need to obtain several lists of things from the server. This includes a couple of server-calls, and I want to do the server calls in a thread outside the awt-event thread. So I start a couple of SwingWorker-threads. This works fine sometimes, but not always. Sometimes code in some of the SwingWorkers finished method does not update the ui. I can see that the correct calls are made, but the ui is still not updated correctly. The problem seems to be related to the sequence of when the different thread are finished. For instance, if the sequence is like this:
    SwingWorker1.construct
    SwingWorker2.construct
    SwingWorker1.finished
    SwingWorker2.finished
Things go fine, but if the sequence is:
    SwingWorker1.construct
    SwingWorker1.finished
    SwingWorker2.construct
    SwingWorker2.finished
the ui-updates in SwingWorker1.finished is not done correctly.
Can anyone help me with this?

    This is the point:
In one SwingWorker thread you have 1 construct method, and 1 finish method - which are both invoked once.
Therefore you only have one opportunity to update the gui in that thread. This forces you to use many threads if you want regular updates, which I try to avoid.
    Therefore, the solution!
Have a loop in the construct method that executes the algorithm accordingly, updating the gui accordingly at regular times, maintaining just the 1 thread - becomes easier and nicer for the programmer and the JVM.
The finish method in this case is to update the gui when all iterations are finished.
There is nothing wrong with this. Just because you have a finish method that is called in the event-dispatching thread doesn't mean that all your update code must be in there.
What you MUST ensure is that ALL your update code is executed in the event-dispatching thread, that is the most important thing. After all, SwingWorker is just a helper class, not the gospel template of how to update a gui.
