Printing Special Characters like u00F1 , u00F3 etc

Hello ABAP gurus,
I am facing issues while printing special characters like ó or ñ using SAP script during check printing from F110 Tcode.
The system was recently upgraded from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 and this was when the user reported this error.
Please Help !.
Cheers,
RK

Hi Adrian,
I have posted to the user asking him the output device name.
Hi Nils,
When the user prints the check, he sees junk value instead of the character ñ.
I am not sure as to which output type they are using and will update as and when i get an answer form them.
Thanks,
RK

• How to convert special characters like #, &, etc occuring in the input string

Hi,

gets posted beyond 033.

Thanks in advance.

Moinuddin:
It seems possible your browser may be confused by the fact that 033 is
the octal representation for an ESCape character (Hex 1B). Try dropping
the leading zero. In addition, it is usually better to represent special
characters like the hash mark "#" using HTML character entities instead
of literals, i.e. # = hash mark

• Problem printing Special Characters in Smartform

Hi,
I am developing a Smartform for Position Description. For that I have to display data from table HRT1002 as the data in this table is stored using Text Editor the data internally is stored in '#' when there is a enter, space or some special Characters. While displaying this data I have used class CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES -->HORIZONTAL_TAB to make '#' to it original value in my internal table.
After using the Class the data has been converted into the correct format, but while printing few special characters like ", ' , .. etc are been printed as # where as in my internal table they are not in # format. How can I change the # to it original Character while printing.
Regards,
Ramu N.

In Text Element,click Txt editor icon on the left side in General attributes.Then in the menu Include->Characters->Displayable Characters and then select the characters.
To display Special characters in Smartforms ...
goto text editor of the perticular text node.
in the text editor, Click INSERT - Characters - Displayable Characters.
a new window will open showing all characters...if ur required character is not
present, click on non-dispalyble character button , it displays all the characters
and their respective numbers...select ur required character .

• Always jumps back to special characters like ü,ö,ß

hello,
so i have been having problems with my macbook pro recently. it has a US keyboard but i write a lot in german so i have to use special characters like ä,ü,ö,ß which normally is not a problem, because i can just stay longer on the a,u,o,s keys and it works perfectly. however, recently when i was typing one of the special characters a lot of the time it jumped back to the previous one i had typed a couple of words back.
this is really really annoying and i do not know what i can do about it or what i am doing wrong.
it would be awesome if somebody knows a way how to fix this problem.
thank you for your help!

Hi,
Unicode or Non-Unincode System ?
Displayed where ? SAPGUI ? Print Preview ? Spool-Display ?
And how is the XML file written ? OPEN DATASET ? BAPI ?
At all of these stages it might be either that it is only a display system, like the selected display CHARSET in SAPGUI, when it is a non-unicode system, or simply not coded correctly like OPEN DATASET without specifying the cdepage when necessary.
And it might even be, that even "displaying" the XML File is simply done with the incorrect codepage while the data inside the file is correct.
If you are on Windows, you might even face funny results when saving a simple textfile from notepad with ANSI/DOS and both Unicode variants and then go to CMD.EXE ans simply "type" the content.
All 4 results will be different, allthough notepad will display the same stuff.
So first of all, makes sure which codepage is relevant at all stages from DB-table to "display"
- DB-Charset
- SAP system type (unicode/non-unicode)
- SAP codepage (1100 / 410x )
- crosscheck the test from report RSCPINST
- Codepage on Windows running SAPGUI
- Selected codpage for Sapgui
Good hunting

• Problems with special characters like "u00F6" "u00E4" "u00FC"

Hi,
we currently face some major problems with special characters like "ö" "ä" "ü". First I thought it is a SP02 specific problem but it still doesn't work with SP03.
When I start an import the import manager shows correct converted value. "ö"s "ä"s "ü"s are displayed correctly. But after I've done the import I look into the Data manager and I see instead of these characters charcaters like "̈". (note: the character should show a little square box - but the forum cannot desplay it)
How can I solve this problem?
Regards
Nico

Hi Nico
Just try it out the following steps, hope it solves ur issue.
To set one or more values back to their original values:
1. In the Import Manager Source Values grid, select the values that you want to set back to their original values.
2. Right-click on one of the values and choose Set to Original Value from the context menu, or choose Values > Apply Value Conversion Filter > Set to Original Value from the main menu.
3. MDME sets each value back to its original value, which appears in black in the Source Values grid.
NOTE : You can use the Set to Original Value filter only at the value-level and not at the field level.
thanks

i have some issues with special characters like § appearing correctly in the PDF. They appear as º in the PDF

Hi ramusw,
I think you might need to get the font that allows these special characters and include them in the Presentment target setup.

• How to add special characters like üöä to a rss feed?

Hello,
I've (again) a small problem. In my podcast I use the header

and encoding UFT-8. Every time I add special characters like the German Ö Ä or Ü to my feed, the feed stops working. The validator says that characters like üöä are no UTF-8 characters which is correct of course, but a second podcast which I listen to, uses the same header like I do but it contains the same special characters and it works. Does anyone know what the difference is?
This is my podcast feed which does not work with üöä
http://quartett.planeteternia.org/rssfeed.xml
That's a podcast feed (not mine) which works with üöä
http://technikwuerze.de/feed/
Thank you very much
Kind regards

http://quartett.planeteternia.org/newsfeed.xml - there is no file at this address. You have a feed at
http://quartett.planeteternia.org/rssfeed.xml
but there are no diacriticals in it - presumably you've removed them.
The other feed simply includes the diacriticals - it's not using html encoding to display them - so I don't know why you should be having trouble. You need to be writing the text in a plain text editor, not a word processor, and I don't know whether there is an issue with Windows here.
You could try using the codes - they must be the numbered not the named codes:
ü is ü
ö is ö
ä is ä

• How to show Special Characters like (∠) in an Embedded text field

I want to show some special characters like (∠). It is working fine if we don't embed the text field. But I want to use superscript and subscript font, so I have to embed that dynamic text field. When I embedd the texfield it does not show me the (∠) symbol. Instead it shows me a square symbol. Please let me know how can I solve this problem. My project is nearly finish except for this part.
Thanks in advance
Salim

Yes, I know we need to include the symbols. But I am unable to include it. Whenever I click on embed option and paste the symbol (∠) in the include these characters box, it appears as a square symbol. This is driving me nuts.
I even tried to embed All (54665 glyphs). But this is not working either.
Has anyone faced this problem before?

Before you send the form parameters you need to url-encode them. Like this:String param1="param=033#Test";
String encodedParam1 = java.net.URLEncoder.encode(param1);Then send the encoded version, which if you examine it you will see looks like "033%25Test".

• JAVA Mapping: Handle Special characters like u00E4,u00FC an so on

Does anybody know, how to modify the JAVA-mapping to have a workaound for this problem?

Hi Mario,
As java mapping does not validate the xml,the output gets created but if u have to use the xml structure,the u will have to include the following.
Assume u r using a write method to write the output xml,then
check for tspecial charactters like &,<,>.' etc and replce them as shown below
private void write(String s)
//Traverse through the string
for (int i=0 ; i < string.length();i++)
String s1 = data.substring(i, i + 1);
if (s1.equals("&"))
write ("&");
else if (s1.equals("<"))
write("<");
else if (s1.equals(">"))
write(">");
else if (s1.equals("\""))
write(""");
else if (s1.equals("'"))
write("'");
else
write(s1);
Should help u out

hi friends......
I'm using following packages...........
When I store special characters....like < , > or &......DomHandle can not fetch the values from xml file......why so??? Anybody faced same problem??????
import javax.xml.transform.*;
import javax.xml.transform.dom.*;

import javax.xml.parsers.*;
import org.xml.sax.*;

it actually converts < & > to < & > and so
on.......but still when it again tries to read
it....it fails & throws exceptionDepending on what is to be accomplished, I had an issue earlier today and this is how I solved it:
I needed to put a url with post data:
Something
Now to do this we can split this up in parts, tried writing out everything using CDATA and a few other things. But the Damn <'s and >'s would get converted into < and >
So I did this:

<xsl:attribute name="href">
bob.jsp?something="<xsl:value-of select="@SomeAttrib"/>"
</xsl:attribute>
