Printing Spot Separations in PSCC

Hey All,
It appears that Photoshop has had a pretty large overhaul with their print capabilites...
I'm trying to print an image that I've separated into spot colors using layers.
So far all I've found is people talking about using channels, but unless I can turn each layer into a channel, that's not really an option.
I've got eight layers, each is a separate spot that needs to be printed
We used to use Easyart2 and photoshop, but easyart 2 apparently isn't compatible with a 64-Bit system...and they changed the print interface with Adobe CS6/CC
I'm also printing through AccuRip, and need to know how to print halftones at a certain frequency....if that's possible...
This is pretty (very) urgent, and if anyone can help it will be much appreciated.

How do I convert jpg files to spot separated?

I work for a local printer and often receive jpg art files for use in printing business forms. In the past I have always tried to track down an EPS or ai file that I could manipulate in Illustrator since my Photoshop skills are limited. Can someone give me easy instructions to convert a simple 2 color file to spot separations? Thanks!

The biggest frustration is people who give too little information to understand their problem. I, and others, come here because we want to help. When I see a question, I get hopeful that I will get a chance to help someone and, in especially fun cases, try out a solution that I thought up on the spot. I get paid a lot of money (when I get paid) to solve problems, yet here I am doing it for free, and loving it.
But when I get no information and when people omit the most obvious piece of information, I get annoyed. It should be obvious that we need to know what version people are using. I used to be nice about it, then I got stern about it, Now I don’t give a damn about being polite about it.

Print PDF separations

Is there any way to print pdf separations from indesign or illustrator?
Is there a pdf driver available for OS 10.6.8?

here's a screen shot. From what I had been doing in CS4 everything is the same, however when I select the print button, a progress bar appears for a fraction of a second, goes away and leaves no printed file anywhere on my computer. Thanks.

Print Spot Color Separations

OK. I had Pagemaker, CS2 and now have CS4 on an XPP machine. I print to plate. When I want to print separations, the area is grayed out = I can't select any color to print separately. Plus, up above, I can not choose Separations to print, it's also grayed out and not available. Just RGB and gray. I print to a HP LJ5000 PCL & PS printer and need (prefer) to print in non-PS mode (PCL driver). Pagemaker could do this; and I tweeked something in InD CS2 to make it work. Can't make it work here in CS4. HELP! Is it true that ONLY the PS driver will work to print separations??? The PS driver does not work well for me or for plate production. Is there a way around this??? TIA.

Oh, no! So you are remarking that I should print to the PDF driver and then print the PDF. Two (big) step process? Yeah, I guess that's a good work-around. Isn't there another way, tho'? Please! I thought there was some sort of Color Management setting that might allow this for the job. Yes? Can someone also tell me Why separations are only allowed for a Post Script printer driver? (That may be too much to ask.) Thanks.

Blank Sheet at beginning and between every printed page; Separator Page dialog box is blank.

I followed directions of another blog and when I got to the Separator Page dialog box, it said to "delete all templates listed in the Separator Page box", but mine was blank. If I click on the browse button, I do find pcl,sep; pscript.sep; sysprint.sep; and sysprtj.sep files. Do I delete these sep files? I have a HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One Printer and am using Windows 7 (had same problem with VISTA).

I had this issue using FF 5.0, I fixed it by doing the following :
# Go to firefox button, select options, options.
# Find all the applications that are listed as Adobe
# Change the action from 'Use Adobe Reader (in FireFox)' to 'Use Adobe Reader'

Acrobat CC doesn't show or print spot colours in a Photoshop PDF

When I open a Photoshop PDF, with a spot colour channel, in Acrobat CC 11.0.04, the spot colour doesn't show. But it shows when I click Output Preview (in Print Production). The colour doesn't print either. It also disappears when I convert it into CMYK (by checking the "Convert All Spots to Process" box in Ink Manager). I'm running Acrobat on OSX Mavericks.
Has anyone had similar problems?

Indeed, I tried saving a PDF that had the "default appearance", it shows exactly the same. So it looks like it "can't" show the image.
However, of course, I do want the image to be shown. How can I achieve this? How can I tell Adobe Reader (and other PDF viewers) I really really realllyyyyy want to see that image there? I believe I'm not doing anything really exotic, right? There must have been tons of other people that wanted to do the same thing, I guess?

DCS EPS 2.0 files not printing spot colors

I know that PMS colors have been changed with CS6 using lab color as the basis to preview colors, but I've been getting this problem printing DCS EPS 2.0 files from Photoshop in Illustrator. It does not matter if I print in CS5 or CS6 the same error occurs. I'll try to explain the process I'm using the best I can.
I create a multi color spot channel DCS EPS 2.0 file in Photoshop utilizing PMS colors. I then link that image into Illustrator and add custom registration marks and labeling to print. When I bring in the DCS file the spot colors appear in the swatch palette and are labled as spot colors, however they either come over as CMYK or LAB color in the color mode when you double click the color swatch. This is where it gets weird. When I print the file, the first spot color with a cmyk color mode will print the registration mark and the custom label I made in Illustrator, but it will not print the DCS part of the image. If the next spot color is in LAB color mode it will print as well as the third color that is in CMYK color mode will print. It seems to only effect the color being printed before the LAB color and then doesn't have an issue after that. My fix has been to manually set all color modes to either CMYK or LAB color and that solves the problem, but it seems like a bug becuase it's only an issue effecting the DCS file and not other elements in illustrator that have the same swatch color applied. For the record I've done prints with 2 printers and a pdf printer and they all have the same issue.
This may be something that cannot be fixed, but I hope my bringing it to light will help some people realize why some of their spot colors aren't printing.

No... Believe me, I suggested, and would almost always suggest high resolution PDF for any printing. Like I mentioned, I've basically always printed with PDF's but, the company he's getting printing done through apparently requires EPS. I tried another set of settings when saving, so we'll see if it works and they accept it.
My main question was why the file was coming out black and white after I save it when it's blatantly in color - and reopens in Photoshop in full color.

Light blue "finger" print spot on display

I have a 20" Cinema display.
I have noticed a light blue area on the display.
You can see it if the background is white.
I noticed if you have a white gradient into red, as you pass this through the affected area, this spot is darker in the transition area.
These aren't dead pixels but it looks almost like a finger print between the back lighting and the LCD.
Any idea what this is and if it can be fixed?

Without a picture it is hard to determine if this is the effect you are experiencing. Check this link and if so you will want to have it serviced before you warranty expires:

I had this effect on a Dell laptop and they replaced the LCD assembly for me as a result agreeing that it was defective.

Logic to get 2 print copies separately

Is it possible to print document separations as thumbnails?

I often need to print a single plate for multiple pages onto one sheet of paper, when you choose thumbnails in Indesign their is no option for seperations. Is there a workaround?

Acrobat 8 Std prints spots of page for only 1 user

I have a user that when they print a PDF using Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard, there are spots all over the page and the print is garbled. Other users on this computer can print fine. This user can print other things like word documents, etc fine on this computer.
I have reinstalled printer drivers, tried PCL5, PCL6, and Postscript drivers.
Is there a way to copy over the Adobe settings from one user to another on the same computer? Windows XP, part of a corp network running Active Directory. Prints fine for 3 users but not 1. My thought is copying over c:\Documents and Settings\UserA\Application Data\Adobe\*.* to c:\Documents and Settings\UserB\Application Data\Adobe\*.*
Other thoughts would be to copy over c:\Documents and Settings\UserA\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\*.*
Maybe going into the registry?
Any thoughts that might hold user settings?

Problems printing spot colors overprinting registration color

In order to get a spot color to overprint a registration color on a proof, I have to change the spot color to multiply and then select convert all spot colors to process in the output dialog. I've never had this problem before using CS4. I'm running Mac OS X 10.5 and printing to an EFI RIP. I can see the error in the preview window inside the print dialog box in Illustrator before I sent to the rip.

Remember I only have this problem when a registration object interacts with a spot color. I've tried putting either object on top and either item overprinting or multiplying.
For the record, I can get it to work by checking "convert all colors to process" in the print dialog box, but nothing works without checking this box and I would like to avoid checking this box if at all possible.

I have a number of PDF's that have a number of RGB colors. I am using Windows XP Pro and an HP LaserJet black/white postscript printer. How can I print separations??

Print Spot Color Gradients?

Hello there,
Could anybody tell me if it's at all possible to print gradients using spot colors? For example, I'm wanting to create a gradient from a near black color to a slightly lighter gray.

I have never, ever had a gradient built from 2 different Pantones do anything but separate to 4 color. Unfortunately I can't test in ID CS3 as whenever I try to add a second Pantone to the gradient swatch ID crashes.
Please make a PDF from these 2 Pantone gradients and post it. I'd like to see it.
Edit: I stand corrected. I was able to do this in ID CS3. So the day wasn't a total loss for me and I learned something new. Thanks Luke and Scott for setting me straight.

How to print thousands separator on a report.

I tried using the currency addition to the write statement but doesn't work.
