Printing standard photos in iphoto

Hi to all - i'm unable to print photo's from my library. the preview box states that is unable to recognise the paper size of the standard print and then a separate iphoto icon pops up and tells me that i haven't chosen a document to print (when i have selected a picture) can anyone help
foolishly i don't have any of my library prints backed up!

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
First of all, I would recommend you back up all of your photos, preferably onto a firewire external hard drive. One of the easiest ways to do this is to just make a clone of your internal hard drive using a cloning program like Super Duper.
I don't know what printer you are using, but the first thing to check is that you have the latest drivers for your OS, which you should be able to download for free from the manufacturer's web site. It's possible the problems you are encountering are because your printer software may not be entirely up to date and compatible with your software.
Good luck!

After selecting File > Print, a pop-up window should appear. Select "Customize" and this should take you back into a panel within iPhoto. Towards the bottom, you should see an option for "Layout". Select this option and choose the correct photo orientation.
    Hope this helps!

If you need really accurate color, you will probably need to create your own profiles and use aperture for more control over the printing process.  Ctein is starting a series of posts on digital printing which you might find helpful:

  • When I print out photo thru iPhoto, the result is too dark.

    Hi all,
I have a problem with printing a photo via iPhoto recently.
I remember when I used iPhoto 9 to print out some of my photos but at that moment the result was pretty OK to me.
However, I don't know exatly when but I guess it could be since I upgraded to iPhoto 10...
Everytime I tried to print out some of my photos from my iPhoto library, the result is way too dark than its original color.
I am using HP Photosmart device(C410ㅁ) with fuji photo papers.
I tried to change several options like color sync or printing quality but NO use!!
Strange thing is that if I use airprint with my iPhone or iPad, color level seems to be OK.
But again, iPhone airprint doesn't give any options to manage printing quality level, it couldn't mitigate my problem, either.
Is there anyone out there who has the same or similar problem just like me?
Please share your knowledge to solve this issues.
    Thanks in advance
    Luke.

What is the color profile of the photo?

  • How does one print single photos using iPhoto. I keep getting an error message:No Available Themes

How does one print single photos using iPhoto. I keep getting an error message:No Available Themes

You need to reinstall iPhoto. To reinstall iPhoto delete the current application and, on all Macs with Snow Leopard or earlier installed, all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the:
    HD/Library/Receipts folder (10.5 and earlier)
    or from the /var/db/receipts/  folder (10.6) .
Deleting receipts is not necessary if your Mac came with Lion or later preinstalled.
Then install iPhoto from the source it came from originally.

  • I want to print a photo from Iphoto

I want to print a photo from Iphoto and I keep getting a msg about a theme, what is that all about and how do I do it.  For something so simple why is this such a pain?

Sure - easiest way is to make an album for photos you want to order and drag photos to it - when it is complete open the album, select all and order

  • I am using iphoto 6.06 for my intel imac.  I have been trying to print pictures from iphoto and i keep getting a message that states " the picture you are trying to print is in the iphoto library"  what can i do to be able to print a photo from iphoto

I am using iphoto 6.06 for my intel imac.  I have been trying to print pictures from iphoto and i keep getting a message that states " unreadable file: the following file could not be imported.  the file is in the iphoto library folder"  also when i try to print a picture from iphoto i get a message that says "no page was selected"
not sure what happened but i can pnly print when i drop the photo onto my desktop as an 8.5 x 11 size picture and i am trying to print 4x6's

Since the new library gives you the same message log into another user account on your Mac and see if you can run iPhoto without getting that message.  If you get that message there also a reinstall of iPhoto seems indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally and apply all available updates to it.

  • When I try to print a photo in iPhoto it says I need to install a theme. How do I do this?

I am on my MacPro desktop. I am using iPhoto vdrsion 9.2.3.
While perusing my photos, I click one and attempt to print the photo (Cmd P).
I get a dialog box alerting me to an error which reads: There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable.
I have tried downloading the latest print drivers for my HP Photosmart C4200 but no luck.
Although I know that a basic theme allows you to select border, borderless, etc. for your printed photo, I cannot figure out how to install a theme.
My workaround is to email the photo to myself and print it from the Preview app.
    Any ideas?

    Hi...
Post in the iPhoto forum here.
You'll get more feedback directly from iPhoto users.

  • Printing old photos from IPhoto

Hello!  I'm trying to print some old photos to create a printed photo album. I have all the photos in IPhoto and they are all .jpg.  However when I click on some of them an exclamation mark comes up and I can't transfer them to a memory stick.  I'd be very grateful for any advice - what can I do?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Printing 4x6 photo in iPhoto Problem

When trying to print a 4x6 in iPhoto, the print image is enlarged and cuts out the outer part of the photo. How can I get it to print the real size?

A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

  • Live in Canada, Print/mail photos via iPhoto to UK

    Hi
I live in Canada and am interested in ordering some photos via iPhoto. Photos are for delivery to UK. So I'd like to place the order with Apple iPhoto service in UK rather than in Canada (which delivers only to US/Canada).
    Is this possible?
Or must I use a photo printer other than iPhoto?
    Guidance welcomed.
    Regards, Ross

    no - http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/shipping/ and http://www.apple.com/uk/support/photoservices/shipping/
And your address and credit card must match the country you order from
Each of the pages listed above have an e-mail information request form you can use to double check
Or must I use a photo printer other than iPhoto?
    Yes

  • Print a photo from iPhoto?

Brand new and wondering how to print a photo...very basic question

  • I can't print a photo from iPhoto because it is asking that I install a theme. How does one install a theme.

iPhoto will not allow photo printing unless a theme is installed. Never heard of such nonsense. What is a workaouound, or a fix.

Never heard of searching either, I see.

    > Look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation.

  • Printing multiple photos in IPhoto '09

    Hi:
I saw a thread on IPhoto '08 that talks about this. Also according a to a video that I found on Youtube, you can use the N-Up function in IPhoto '08 to print multiple copies of a picture on a sheet or multiple pictures in a sheet. I looked through all the IPhoto '09 menus and can't figure it out. Does anyone know if this is still possible within IPhoto '09?
    Thanks!

Having upgraded to iphoto 9, only now realise that it doesn't seem intuitive any more to get n-up photos per page. The solution posted here seemed like it was going to solve my problem, but having selected "Photos Per Page: Multiple of the same photo per page" and clicking OK, this doesn't appear to change anything, either immediately with some options for say, how many photos you want per page, or a preview of the page - or later when I come to print them.
I have an invitation I was trying to print several times on the same A4 sheet (something that used to be a cinch with iPhoto in the past), I have now spent over an hour looking for the n-up option (bad mouthing Apple for the first time in my life to my family :-)). Can I ask, why do developers just change these things on a whim, sending regular satisfied users of great software into disarray, confusion and frustration. Did a whole load of end-users write in saying, "Hey Apple, I don't use n-up very much, could you remove it?"
If anyone has a solution for printing multiple copies of the same photo on a page without having to create a photoshop image with multiple scaled images on it, I would be massively thankful.
