Printing Supressed (Drill Down OK) Data
Post Author: JHemauer
CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
I have a report posted on CR.com that has a bar graph with suppressed sections (drill down ok). The posted report is pretty to look at, and handy to drill down into the detail, but how can I set it up so that when my users want to print the report, the printed version shows all detail?
I'm a little new, and self taught so any help would be apprecdiated . . .

You cannot get the drilldown data in same page. When you drilldown it will be opened in a separate tab, this is by design.

Error while drilling down the data from reports
Hi friends,
I have created dimension hierarchies in rpd for drilling down the data.. While i drill down its showing no results at some level when i am clicking on the data.. but when i am clicking on the same levels column header its drilling down properly and i can view the next level for the data item which has shown no results while clicked on it.. Please help me and helps will be appreciated..Hi,
>when i click on 2000 results displaying is no results
but when i click on the header year its showing the results with 3 for 2000.
So you are able to drill when you click on header..Go to column properties and make heading interaction to no interaction under column format, put value interaction to default and try to drill clicking on value.
in RPD i have some derived columns like month .I created month as derived column from date using logical formula and i used this derived columns as the key.. Is it a problem? No I dont think its a problem

Looking For Method Of Displaying Drill-Down Subreport Data On Same Page
Not sure what the technical term for this is, but I need to find a way to display dynamic drill-down sub-report data within a report. Here is an example of what I am trying to accomplish:
+ DATA SUMMARY 1
+ DATA SUMMARY 1
- DATA SUMMARY 1
data detail 11
data detail 12
- DATA SUMMARY 2
data detail 2
data detail 2
The idea is you click on the + (plus sign) and the subreport detail unfolds below the summary row. To close the sub-report data, you click on the - (minus sign). Right now, the report pops up the sub-report data in a separate tab, which is not what the client wants.

Who doesn't know if this is a function of report design or of viewer manipulation of report data...I think this is called In Place Drill Down.

AWM - drill down the data, possible ?
hi guys,
i successfully deployed my data warehouse (dw) with owb10g. now, i want to check my dw for example by use a simple drill down function or something similiar. but how could i easily check my dw ??
i used the export-bridge in the owb client and opened the target schema in my analytic workspace manager (v10.2.0.2.0). but i only see the structure (metadata design) of the dw. i do not see the data (records) inside the dw and no drill down function with the data...
can anybody help me ? please give me a hint! thx!
greetings
s8472i did a little bit try and error and it seems indeed that if name my dimension "DIM_TIME" oracle deploy a olap dimension of the type "time" and not normal.
(you can check the type at the oracle enterprise manager (OEM) at "Administration" - "OLAP Dimension" - "[Your Dimension]" - View type in tab "General".)
and if the dimension is type "time" it gives the error message in AWM viewing the dimension data. i think the prob is that defined layers and hierarchies in the dimension as i did create other normal dimension.
do anybody know something about rules how to name the dimensions or how to create a time dimension (maybe no layers allowes?) ?
greetings

Drill Down when data is coming from a query
Hello experts,
I have one question regarding the drill down functionality. For sake of simplicity, let's assume we are working on a pie chart.
i) Data is coming from a query (via the universe).
ii) The data source is really the query itself, it is not coming from the excel sheet. In other words, the query is not first copied to the excel sheet and then fed to the pie chart. Pie chart directly uses the query binding.
ii) When a slice in the pie is clicked, I want to copy that slice's information into a cell (basically the drill-down functionality).
I wasn't able to achieve this functionality. I think the problem is the 'source data' field in the 'insertion' tab. I select 'Row' as my insertion type and I also select a destination. However, when it comes to selecting 'source data' I have nowhere to point to since my source data is the query (query binding is not an option here). So, since I have no real source data, I cannot drill down and copy the values to the destination cell.
The workaround is to copy the query data into excel first, but I don't that is an elegant solution. Is there any other way to achieve this?

Guven.Hello David,
You confirm that mapping the whole column would be an option, right?
Here is why I asked this question: Let's assume I have a dashboard that displays the types of encounters in a hospital. Some examples of encounter types are: emergency, elective, newborn, etc... Currently, in the database, there is data for these 3 types. So, the dashboard contains a pie chart and each slice corresponds to the number of visits by patients for this encounter type (e.g. 450 emergency encounters, 9900 elective encounters and 32 newborn encounters).
Tomorrow, a new encounter type could take place in the hospital and this of course has to be reflected in the dashboard. If I make the assumption that there are only 3 encounter types, then the dasboard would be missing information. So, in this case, should I be mapping the whole column to the pie chart?

Pavneet RanaHello,
Because BEx Reports are optimized for presentation and printing, the drill down cannot be changed (you can set filter values only). If you want to navigate within the data on the Web, use the BEx Web Analyzer or create a Web Application using a Web item analysis.
A dynamic section is based on a data provider thet contains a key figure in the columns and one more characteristics in the drill down od the rows.

Disable Drill Down For Groups only except SubReport
<p> </p><p>Hi All,</p><p>I have 10 subreports and also 5 Groups sections in one report (version CR 10 - VS.Net 2005) </p><p>I need to disable drill down on Groups <strong>except SubReport </strong>. </p><p> </p><p>Thanks in advance for any solution </p><p> </p><p>-Harini </p>
Where are the subreports located? You mention you have 10 subreports and also 5 group sections. Are the subreports located in the page or report header/footer sections? Are there detail records in the groups? If not, then you don't need to supress drill-down, there is nothing to drill to. If there is, suppress the detail section. If a user drills on the groups, there will be no detailed information visible.
Typically, if you have multiple groups and want to supress drill-down but still display the first group, you can use the 'drilldowngrouplevel >1' statement in the section expert to conditionally suppress the group. Right click the group, select 'Section expert', and click the formula button (the button with the 'X-2' and a little pencil) next to 'Suppress (No Drill-Down) Then, enter drilldowngrouplevel >1. This should do the trick if you have your report structured this way. If not, please provide a little more detail.
Thanks and good luck. -
Drill Down functionality not Availible on Column Chart Bars
Hi Guys,
I have about 10 Webi 4.0 reports which are all column charts and are all made with drill down functionality enabled on them.
The issue we are facing is that we need all the reports have drill down functionality available on the column bars and axis values (ex. "drill down to date" is available when mousing over the bars and axis values.)
However, reports which have variable measures on them do not have drill down functionality available on the actual column bar in the chart, drill down is only available when mousing over the axis values. Now, I created the variable measure on the universe level as an object to check if having the object pulled into the report instead of a variable would enable the drill down function on the chart but this did not work either, still having the same issue
Its important for us to have the consistency of the functionality being available on the bars and axis because it is more user friendly.
If anyone has ever faced this issue I'd really appreciate your input on how this can be fixed.
Thanks in advance!

Drill Down Options in Planning & HFM
Hi All,
What are the drill downs option available in Hyperion Planning & Financial Reporting.
Regards,
PC
Edited by: dwhpc on Jul 23, 2009 10:31 AMHi,
In planning V11 you have the option to drillback from forms to FDM.
Other than that there are not many options, you can write custom javascript to pass details from a form into a web page that could drill down on data.
It is possible to use to EIS/Essbase studio to use drillback with essbase.
Cheers

How to Avoid Printing the data twice when the sub report has drill down?
Hello,
I have a sub report that has drill down which is placed in report footer. When i run the report sub report displays the data but when i tried to drill down it displays the same data again. After that i can able to drill down on sub report. Is there any way to avoid
printing the same data twice.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
If the subreport you're referring to does not grow in size and it does not span multiple pages and you know the size of it, here's what you can do to stop drilling into subreports :
1) Create a text object as large as the subreport (perhaps bigger than it) and fill it with spaces or new lines
2) Place it 'over' the subreport such that it covers the entire area occupied by the subreport
3) The subreport at all times should be smaller than the text object in all dimensions
Now, when you hover the mouse over the subreport, there isn't any magnifying glass for you to drill down into.
If the subreport has further drill-down functionality, then this isn't for you! Because, it just wouldn't allow you click on any objects in the subreport because of the text object eclipsing it. This is the only workaround I know at this point in time and I know a lot of users are looking for this.
I would suggest that you log this as an Enhancement Request at http://ideas.sap.com for our developers to have a look into this.
And finally, I also found an old forum post where Jamie has suggested a way to get this working on the Business Objects Environment. Give it a shot, if that's where the reports are eventually run.
How to disable subreport view
Hope this helps!
