Printing the results slide of the quiz

I am creating a quiz using Captivate 2. Can I give a print
button wherein it prints out the result slide and also all the
questions slide with the correct and wrong answers answered.

How do i prevent a slide that is after the quiz results page from showing?

HI guys, I am trying to achieve the following in Captivate 6:
1) Users answer questions. They have 2 attempts to pass with 70% or above.
2) At the quiz results page, if the score is less than 70%, users get a button to retake the quiz. After the second attempt, If the percent is 70% or above, they can click a button to view a certificate or click a button to see a transcript. If the percent is less than 70%, they click a button to get a transcript but NOT a certificate.
How can i accomplish this since i cannot add buttons to the quiz results page.

I am trying to implement a simple hide/show routine and it does not work. This is what I want.
I have two buttons (one to save a certifcate and one to save a course transcript). I want to display those on the quiz results screen. The user has two chances to make a 70% or more on the quiz.
If the user obtains less than 70% score on the first try, on the quiz results slide I want to hide the button to save the certificate but keep the one for the transcript. If the user passes with 70 or more, then both icons remain on screen.
IF the user obtains less than 70% after the second try, the quiz results should only show the transcript button. If they pass with 70% or more, then both icons remain on screen.
I tried advance interactions to hide or show the icons in the "on slide enter" on the quiz results screen but that did not work.
This is an example of what i tried. if cpQuizInfoQuizPassPercent is less than 70% hide btncert. I also tried hiding the button and then assigning actions to show the button on passing the 70% but that did not work either.
Suggestions?

Is there a way to change the formulas for the fields of the Quiz Results slide?

I see the placeholders for the fields on the Quiz Results Slide (Number of Questions = {total-questions}). Is there a way to view and change those calculations?

You can select which variables appear on the Quiz Results slide, but you cannot really change the calculations used by Captivate under the hood.
Depending on what you're trying to achieve, you might be able to insert your own captions reading off the same variables and use Advanced Actions and Expressions to cook up different results. But it depends very much on what you want to do and whether or not the variables are exposed, and whether or not the limited Expressions available will allow the math.

It will not let me edit the quiz result slides length.

I need to edit the length of time that the quiz results page is on the screen. It will not let me edit it. Also the continue button does not work.

The Quiz Results slide will always pause and there's no way to prevent that. Look at its timeline and you can see a faint vertical line that indicates the pause point. You can use your mouse to move this sideways and delay the pause untill objects enter the timeline. But the rest of the slide beyond that pause point will only play once you click the Continue button. If you have set a very long duration for the Quiz Results slide, then once you click Continue, what you see as the Continue button not working could just be the timeline continuing to play until it reaches the end of the slide. Watch the scrub bar on the playback bar to see if it's moving.
Once the slide is paused the user has to click one of the buttons on that slide to move elsewhere. If your Continue button is not working, the usual reason is that you have the Quiz > Settings > Required option set to something that will prevent the learner from moving beyond the Quiz Results slide until they fulfil some kind of requirement (e.g. answer all questions or pass the quiz). So check that setting.

How do I only get certain questions appear in the quiz results?

I have created a course through Captivate 6, throughout the course there are questions to guage the learners attention. There is also a quiz at the end. However, captivate includes on the questions throughout the course on the quiz results which I do not want to happen.
Can anyone advise how I can only get certain questions appear on the quiz results please?

Branch aware turns off the playbar in 6 (not in 7 any more, at least not for me).
Could you explain more in detail what you want, because I don't understand it. You want the user to answer all questions, but the score should only show what? If you don't want some questions to have a score added to the Quiz total, you can indicate that in the Properties of that Question slide.
And please, tell the exact number (3 versions of 6), and also if you have to report to a LMS?

How do I get the Continue button on the Quiz Results page to work?

I found an older discussion about this topic and tried everything suggested. My colleague and I have been researching this issue and have yet to find the answer. Does anyone out there have the solution?

Maybe yesterday you succeeded, passed. In that case the Continue button will work, because it triggers the action that you specified in the Quiz Preferences (Continue). But if you fail, you are stuck on the Results slide, because the Continue action for Failed will only be done after the attempts are exhausted. Why did you create an extra slide? You can edit the Results slide, but please, keep the buttons that are embedded in that slide because they provide the functionality that you need.
You can add a shape button to the Score slide if you want an extra button to retake the course. I hope you are using CP6 or later?

How to get the output .pdf file of a quiz to report to the quiz results analyzer on my internal server (mamp)

I created a quiz.
Created an internal server on my compute rising a MAMP.
When I publish my quiz using the multi-file publishing options...
I am able to use both the "HTML" and the "swf" output files to complete a quiz and reporting the results to the quiz results analyzer.
However, I am unable to get the output .pdf field to reporting to the quiz results analyzer.
Any help? Would this issue have to do with the Acrobat Professional setting? Captivate setting? My internal server setting? or output fuel placement?
I tired to put the .pdf file in the same MAMP root folder location as my "internalserverreporting.php and internalserverread.php files.

You cqan submit the report as a JOB and export the out put to memory, once the job is complete you can read the list to display the output.

EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY
Does not display the output list of the called report, but saves it in ABAP memory and leaves the called report immediately. Since the calling program can read the list from memory and process it further, you need to use the addition ... AND RETURN . Also, since the called report cannot be requested for printing, the addition ... TO SAP-SPOOL is not allowed here. In addition, you must not assign a function code to the ENTER key in the current GUI status. The saved list is read from the SAP memory using the function module 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY' and can then be saved to the database using EXPORT, for example. You can process this list further with the function modules 'WRITE_LIST', 'DISPLAY_LIST' ... of the function group "SLST".

Go back into Quiz, Preferences, Pass or Fail. Uncheck 'Retake button' and check it again, it will reappear on the Score slide.

Results slide showing all question pool results not just the ones completed.

I have several question pools which have the option to be taken independently or separately.
If the user does not take all seven of the modules then the quiz results slide at the end is incorrect as it will report all of the questions not just the ones attempted.
I have tried the Branch aware option in the quiz results option but that did not worth.
It this an easy fix or does it require me to add a variable count for each correct answer.

Branch aware should be just fine for that case, why do you tell it is not working? Branch Aware Quiz - Captivate blog
When you say 'score slide is not reporting correctly', I had no such problems.
You could create a custom score slide indeed, using variables, but what if you have to report as a SCORM? Only possibility in that case is Branch aware.

Can I make the quiz "EXIT" or close after posting results?

I have been able to make the QUIZ post to my internal server, but after the "Name / Email" dialog box appears and posting is "successfully" done, the results screen remains visible (possibly allowing a second posting).
Is there any way to make the QUIZ close once the posting has occured?
Also, I noticed that if I choose not to display the score, the post results button does not appear. In order to hide the score, I change the fonts to match the background color. Perhaps there is a way around this too, as I am new to Captivate and don't know all the little tricks yet.

Thanks for your suggestions. Since I am considering having students take the exam I will be working with the school to see how to integrate with the LMS server. I suspect the variables will be passed directly and all will work out well.
When you said “the answers are sent at the point you submit each answer” I assume this is not the case with an internal server, which is why the results have to be posted by the user.
To that end, I am testing the exam with my internal server, which does capture the test results properly. But, this requires the appearance of the results slide, which opens a small dialog requesting name and email (although the email can be anything). Once the results are “posted successfully” the original results slide returns. I cannot even add a button, nor edit the action of existing buttons to continue to another slide --- it’s as if the program is hard-wired to only behave with the default buttons on the results slide.
I just wish there were a clean way of exiting the exam. The results slide only has an ENTER action, but no exit action choice in the properties. I am just unable to move to another slide beyond the results slide and I suspect that I am doing something wrong.

How to retain the master slide background at the end of the quiz reporting page of a project

I have checked the transitions. i didnt give any transition to the slides in the project and i also check the preferences too, i had disable the options that is to fade in and fade out. My problem is "I have 12 slides in this with an intro slide and 10 question slides and then the quiz results page. In that result page, it is showing the result at the end of the result slide the pause button in the skin turned to play button. While clicking that play button it shows only the results, review quiz button and retake quiz button only. It doesn't display the images, widgets, text and some other options which is used in master slide or in the slide itself " Why those things have disappeared? Can you guide me how to overcome this issue.
The solution for the playbar is quiet good. One more doubt in that, The play bar should be displayed in that page but it should be disabled, Is there any solution for this? If yes, kindly share with me

How can I change the language for the Quiz Results page?

How can I change the language for the Quiz Results (labels on buttons and text labels)? Is this possible only manually each time, or are general settings possible?

For Quiz Slides you've already added to your project file you will need to change the labels manually. If you change your Quiz Settings and Master Slides that control the defaults and then add new Quiz Slides, THEN those slides will carry your new settings.

Captivate 7 Quiz Results - Will not close the quiz!

Hi everyone, I'm having a REALLY hard time configuring Captivate 7 to auto close when the quiz is done at the end of a presentation. The last slide in each of my presentations is the quiz results page, and no matte rhow I configure it, whether to exit with JavaScript, Exit, Close or continue to a new slide with an exit button, nothing will work. Can someone please help with this?

I'm glad to see others are having similar problems. We have a problem with the Exit button on the playbar. We have been using it for years in our CP6 courseware, with various LMSs (for clients), using a template, and it has worked. Now, with CP7, it's not working with one of the LMSs. The files created in CP6 still work, so it's not a change in the LMS. We bought multiple copies of CP7 for our various developers, and now we can't use them. Making an overall change, like removing the Exit button on the playbar and using another method, will mean that our courseware is not consistent from one application to another, which would not be a good solution.
Any ideas?

Submit button disappears when returning to the quiz slide

Hi everyone,
We just upgraded from Captivate 4.0 to 5.5. I'm learning 5.5 differences from 4.0 and have one that I can't figure out.
On the quiz slides, if the learner moves back and forward within the quiz slides, the quiz buttons are fine. However, if they click Back on the 1st quiz slide, then go forward to the quiz slide the submit button flashes briefly then disappears for that slide and all the other quiz slides. I can't find a setting to fix this.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like a quiz scope issue. If you click back on the first quiz slide that would take you to the slide BEFORE the first quiz slide which is technically outside the quiz scope. This usually results in Captivate locking the quiz.
I haven't personally seen this button disappearing act but you can test whether quiz scope is the likely culprit by adding a scored click box to the first slide of the project, which will then extend the quiz scope out to that slide. If this prevents your quiz slide buttons from disappearing, we know where the issue comes from. That may mean you have still found a bug that needs to be fixed though.

Choosing which question slide to provide points for the results slide

I am having some issues with a new project I am working on. I would like, throughout the course, to give the user some questions to gauge their understanding of the subject. However these questions are not to be included in the overall quiz results slide at the end.
I am asking a question, then explaining where they went right or wrong. Then carrying on with the course. At the end I would like a new set of questions that concentrate on what they have learned throughout the course. However when I do that, the results page also adds the quiz results from the review questions earlier in the course.
is there anyway I can have this seperate so I can choose which questions will be counted in the results slide?

Sorry it has taken so long to reply to you I got caught up in another project. I've now come back to the original project and I looked at the Advanced Interaction panel. Can you please tell me how to change the settings, for instance, change so that the question is not part of the overall total? I have changed the question slide to a survey slide but I'm not getting the option to direct users to a different page for correct or incorrect. Even when I do have survey questions they still come up in the overall quiz total. I have upgraded to Captivate 6 now and I was hoping that this would have been rectified.
I've contemplated creating my own custom question slides but the questions I need is a matching questions, so don't think I can recreate myself, or can I?
Any help you can give me would be really helpful.
