Printing the same page or range each time ctrl-P is selected

Has anyone figured out how to set Indesign to leave the page number or current pages each time the print dialog box is opened. Pagemaker used to do this and each time we have purchased Indesign the sales people tell us that this was fixed. After downloading and installing 3 diffrerent versions, I come to believe that all sales people are liars or they don't know their own product.

Printing the same page multiple times on one sheet

So last year I wanted to print out minature versions of my card design and I was able to do that by printing out multiple copies of the same thing on one sheet of paper. Of course that was a while ago and now today I can't do the same thing. I remember printing the same page(copy) multiple times either in acrobat or indesign. I see that I have a front and back version for last years card and I'm assuming I must have done it in acrobat. Last year when I looked at the preview there was multiple copies of my page. This year I only see 1 even as I choose the other things. At first I thought it might have been the version I was using on my windows as opposed to the version on my mac. But now I'm on my mac and I still don't see how I did it last year. Please help! I keep reading that this can't be done but I remember doing the same thing last year. It was the 16 copies of the same thing option. I tried it again this time but it doesn't work. I tried printing the 4 copies only 1 copy was printed.(the preview didn't even show all copies like last year) The verson of acrobat is X. version 10.1.4

What exact version of iPhoto 9 are you using? Version 9.5's solution will be different from the solution for earlier versions of iPhoto 9.

When I print out Yahoo! Finance web page, the interactive chart (Flash Player 10) part is printed blank. Internet Explorer can print the same page, no problem. How can I print it correctly?

I cannot print out Flash Player 10's interactive chart in FireFox.
IE can print the same page.

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like the install log. If it always stops at the same spot, something specific happens like waiting for a specific user input, running out of disk space or simply triggering some external process like a virus scanner that may block the install, but never properly produces a warning dialog.

Why does the same clip play differently each time I play it?

Playing a flash animation clip in Adobe Media Player plays differently each time I play it. I'm looking at animation we made that has a left to right move. Sometimes it plays smoothly, other times it stutters, but the stutters happen at different points each time I play it, and the amount of stuttering changes each time I play it. I'm trying to decide if the file is acceptable to post on the web, so I'm playing the same 34 second file from my hard drive, each time in succession, yet each play is different. Boy, if you can help me with this I would sure appreciate it, as it is driving me crazy. (The same thing happens on other flash players). And no, the file isn't haunted...

Hello and thank you for trying to help me out. When I click on the itunes icon on my desktop, it does the preparing to install.... on my laptop, when I click on the icon, itunes opens automatically. I really can't figure out why one does this and the other does not.
Apparently, I was not having trouble connecting to the itunes store like I thought. Many other people complain of the same problem I had---the connecting to the itunes store progress bar goes halfway, stops, and then all I see is a blank white page that says itunes store. Well, after playing around, and clicking on VIEW and SHOW sidebar browser, I was able to see the itunes store! Yay!! It was so simple, it was unreal that so many people are having the same problem I thought I was having, connecting, when all that was was a VIEW issue.
As far as my desktop doing the preparing to install, I don't get it. I have uninstalled itunes9 and redownloaded it, reinstalled it. Same problem. Preparing to install. No matter what itunes icon I click on, or even if I click ont he application itself from it's folder. Any ideas?
So just forget about my connection problem---it was not a problem after all. Yet one pc does preparing to install when the itunes icon is clicked on, and the other pc does not. Both are running windows vista home premium. One is a desktop, one a laptop. I can't figure it out.

Windows 7 PC connected to HP printer via time capsule. Printer keeps printing the same page over and over

I am using time capusle and have my husbands Windows 7 PC and my MacBook Pro connected to it. I just purchased a HP LaserJet P1606dn and have connected and printed to it succesfully using Bonjour on my MacBook.
I have connected through Bonjour to the printer on the PC, but when I print a page, it keeps printing the page over an over. It stays in the que. I also set up my dual boot MacBook/Vista laptop and agai, I have no issues on the MacBook part, but it does the same thing on the Vista Machine as on the Windows 7.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Located a solution:
Go to Control Panel - Printers --- right click the printer and select Printer Properties.
Select the PORTS tab and disable Bi-Directional Printer Support. Seems to work whether the printer is installed either via USB or Cat5 to the Airport Extreme network.
For HP printers, if that first fix doesn't work, download and install the HP Install Network Printer Wizard - allow it to replace your 'newer' driver, but check hp.com for step by step instructions.
Third suggested fix is to download a PCL6 driver, or a different model-driver altogether that is more generic than model specific.

You can do that in the following way: use Customizing for example Transaction NACE...
Select your output type and customize a second, third, fourth or fifth processing routine
using the same Progam and Form but another Form Routine.
The Nast-Output loops through up to the 5 form routines and can generate up to 5 printouts in this way .
In the below descibed example will be 3 documents generated with only the VAR1-Info changed....
example:
TA NACE: Your output type -> Processing Routines -> Select "Print Output" -> select Details -> Add Processing2/3/4/5
form routine "entry" for "Processing1"
form routine "entry2" for "Processing2"
form routine "entry3" for "Processing3"
edit your print program:
copy the old form "entry" or similar entry-routine from your print program
to "entry2" and "entry3"
report zprintprog.
DATA VAR1(100) Type C.
form entry using .....
VAR1 = 'Original for Buyer'
endorm.
form entry2 using .....
VAR1 = 'Duplicate for transport'

Printing the SAME page 2-up on a page - how?

I have a document that is 3x5" and I need to print each page 2-up -- thats 2 copies of page 1 on one sheet, then 2 copies of page 2 on the next sheet -- NOT 1 copy of pages 1 & 2 on a page.
I have about 30 files that are 40 pages long so I would really like to find a simple way to do this.
I the past I used a 3 step process that involved exporting to PDF and then reimporting - I've changed printers and lost all my saved presets so I'm hoping now with CS5 there is maybe an easier approach as it is very cumbersome especially if I only have on little change on one page that I need to correct and print.
(I've tried the 2-up layout options in the print handling and the print booklet feature but can't figure anything out)

Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow. It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them. You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version). Personal preferences showing here.

I am unable to print (using Epson Stylus CX9400Fax) from Firefox websites, but can print the same pages from Safari.

I would recommend doing the '''''Reset''''' mentioned on that page, but make sure you reset all the preferences for that particular printer.

Keeping heading and detail on the same page

Hi, I have a report with a group header section and a detail section. How can I keep the heading section and all the detail section on the same page without starting each group on a new page?
The detail section will have either 2 or 3 records with some of the objects set to grow if the data doesn't fit on one line. This results in several changes of group appearing on the same page which is what I want. However, what I don't want is the header section on one page with the detail section on the next, or the header and some of the detail records on one page with the rest of the detail records on the next. What I would like is the report to start a new page if the header and all the detail records don't fit on the same page but without starting a new page for every group change. How can I achieve this?

you can put the group header and details into a sub report on the old group header section.
then hide the details section

Select all of the images you would like to print in the Elements Organizer, then go to File > Print. In Step 4, choose Picture Package from the drop-down menu. In Step 5, click the option to Fill Page with First Photo.

How can I have use the same div ID multiple times on the same page?

Okay so a problem I encounter a lot is that often times I want to use the same div ID several times on the same page. An example of this is when I'm creating table like designs.
Let's say for instance I create a div ID called 'product-container'. I want to use 'product-container' multiple times on the same page but if I do this it is improper XHTML and will throw errors in any XHTML validator (you are only allowed to use a div ID once on any XHTML page in order for it to be standards compliant).
Now the first option is that I could define 'product-container' in my CSS style sheet multiple times by doing something like this...

     width: 300px;
#product-container-4 {
     width: 300px;
What you will see there however is that it seems pointless to define the same ID numerous times over (just adding a number on the end) when each ID is the exact same thing and has the exact same attributes.
Now what I have noticed is that there are some sites out there who manage to have the same ID appear several times in the code but add a number to it just like above. The difference is that they only have one definition for 'product-cointainer' in their CSS document but in their actual XHTML code they have IDs for 'product-container' but with numbers on the end like 2,3,4,5, etc. It's almost as if JavaScript or some other code is automatically appending a number on the end of the ID so the validator won't consider the markup to be invalid, but yet it knows that it's using the same 'product-container' style that is contained in the CSS style sheet.
I hope I explained this correctly. I'm just hoping to find a way that I can put the same div ID on a page multiple times without having to define it over and over again in my CSS.
Any help is much appreciated!

An ID name can be used only one time per page. A class name can be used multiple times per page.
