Printing to a HP Officejet v40

I have a gracefully aging TiBook/400 that has worked like a charm for the last 5 years. However, I recently got a second hand printer that I would like to be able to use with it. The printer is a HP Officejet v40. I have not been able to find an appropriate Mac OS X driver for this device, although my PC prints to it fine. I would appreciate any guidance in this regard (or a suggestion that this is impossible). Here is a link to the product page from HP - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=60630&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&subm it.y=10&submit.x=6&lang=en&cc=us

Since HP offers no Mac drivers at all for the V40 on its American web site, I presume it's a PC-only model, at least as far as the US market is concerned. You may want to try searching HP's sites in other countries and languages to see whether a driver is available in some other language. Strange as it sounds, I've seen at least two instances of HP drivers being offered in other languages but not in English. Good luck.

  • Incomplete print jobs with HP Officejet v40 and Windows 7

I've seen this problem posted but no solution yet.  I have upgraded my laptop to a Windows 7 and my trusty old HP Officejet v40 will not print a complete page.  It worked great with XP.  The drivers are supposedly updated.  Please help! Thanks.

Same problem here, using an HP OfficeJet v40 under Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit.
The device works superb under Win XP, there's no problem at all with the hardware. Also, it is listed on the Windows7 compatibility list (also for 64Bit) and reported as fully supported by the new OS.
As suggested on the HP download page, I installed the driver automatically via Windows Update. The device gets recognised as an OfficeJet v30 model, the printer part needs a second update attempt but is then successfully installed as the other device parts.
Problem: Any printouts come out incomplete and the spooler reports an error. Changing the driver manually to the correct v40 model (can also be done via Windows Update) doesn't change this behaviour.
During installation there are quite a few error recorded by windows, and with some of the spooler print errors, there was an event ID 372 triggered. The error code returned by the print processor (Param 10) is 2147500037, Param11 simply says "Unknown Error" - maybe this helps identifying what the issue is.
If I had to guess I'd say it's a driver problem. I also ran the HP Print Diagnostics Utility, which didn't report any problems with the printer. There is a number of message boards around the Net where quite a lot of people ask for a solution to this particular problem. None of the inofficial suggestions I found there (like restarting the spooler service, or bypassing the spooler entirely) helped.
I'm aware that this particular model is probably no longer fully supported by HP. However, it's still a great device for me which I'd like to use on one of my workstations. I also think at least the basic functions should work when the device is supposed to be compatible with Windows 7.
It would be great if someone from HP Support could advise what to do here, thanks.

  • Officejet v40 stops printing

recently purchased a new dell laptop with windows 7.  connected my officejet v40, automatically updated the drivers but when I print it only prints about 1/4 of the page.  any ideas on how to correct.?  the printer works fine on other PCs that do not have windows 7

I have the same problem with my officejet v40 after installing it to a new laptop with Windows 7.
    It works fine with XP.
Anyone who have an idea how to fix this?  Thanks.

  • Need HP fax history past last 30 for HP OfficeJet v40 anyone know how?

I have an HP OfficeJet v40 and need the complete fax history past the last thirty you can print off the standard report on the machine itself. Does anyone know how to get into the full memory of fax transactions? I have tried to find a route via the laptop software and so far no luck.

    Did you check this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpu04616&tmp_task=useCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us...
It does not actually specify but it does say all: Fax log: contains the entries of all attempted and successful fax transmissions.

  • Need driver officejet v40 for new laptop, hp with windows 7 64 bit os.

new hp laptop...windows 7 64 bit os. need driver for old hp officejet v40 printer.

T2, you don't mention how much system memory that you have installed.  Windows 7 will run best with 3GB of memory.  Also, integrated memory is always lacking in any games.  The 128MB is not allocated at one time.  It is only used as needed.  If you want to play games, you should upgrade your memory and upgrade to a standalone video card.  I don't believe that a driver update will make any difference.

  • How do I use the double sided printing with my HP Officejet 6500A plus

I need help with learning to use the double sided printing with my HP Officejet 6500A Plus

Click on the Show Details button just above:
You can configure various options from the dropdown menu just below Orientation.
Printing two-sided requires a two-sided adaptor for the printer. Otherwise, you have to print out odd numbered pages first, turn them over and reinsert into the paper feeder, then print even numbered pages. If you do it right you get a nice two-sided document. If you do it wrong all the even numbered pages will be upside down.

  • How can I print to my HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless Printer from my iPhone 4S which used to work before AirPrint printers were even available? (running Mac Lion OS, all software and HP sw updates are all performed)

How can I print to my HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless Printer from my iPhone 4S which used to work (on prior iPhones) before AirPrint printers were even available? (running Mac Lion OS, all software and HP sw updates are all performed)
I don't get it, I read one post about why would we have to buy an AirPrint Printer when we have used the "print to a wifi printer" just fine in the past?  Yes I feel that's exactly what's happening to me now too. I want to print from my iPhone and iPad to my WiFi Printer which is also now connected to my Airport Express WiFi network just fine. No problems.

Very glad you added that bit of information because I see different problems similar to this.  I want to share with them what you did and hopefully you not only fixed your specific problem but you can lend some more advice to others with problems like this. Thanks!

  • Printing problems with HP OfficeJet G55

I have a MacBook running OS X 10.5.4 and I'm having problems printing with my HP OfficeJet G55. I have updated to HP Printer Driver 1.1.1, but after updating, I realized my printer type was not in the list. So that did not fix the problem. I connect my printer to my computer by USB and as soon as I hook it up, the computer recognizes the kind of printer.
When I go to System Preferences-->Print & Fax--> Open Print Queue, it says "Printer Ready". Then when I want to print out a page and after I hit Print, it says something like Printing 11%,...,100%, then automatically the status of whatever I wanted to print says "complete", but the page has not even printed yet. My printer did nothing. I have tried rebooting, and had the same problem. I have also tried deleting the printer from system preferences/print & fax and then adding the printer again, and it doesn't work.
There is nothing wrong with my printer because I printed out a test page, and it worked fine. Also when it's connected to a desktop computer we have..Windows XP, the printer also works. And even when I connect the printer to my old ibook (I think it's on OS 9.1), it also works.
Please if anyone knows about this, I need instructions on correcting the problem!
    Thank you!!

A Gutenprint driver for that model is included in OS X:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1370#hpdrivers
I'd guess you have a corrupted file somewhere. Try these generic fixes:
Reset Printing System - In Print & Fax prefs:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/14001.html
Get the downloadable Combination Updater from Apple, use it to re-Update OS X.
Use Disk Utility to repair the HD (see Try Disk Utility):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
(Final step - reinstall OS X using the Archive & Install option in the installer.)

  • Iphone e print/air print issues with HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One A909n

I downloaded the 4.2 upgrade for iphone thinking I would be able to print from my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-In-One A909n.  I have upgraded the HP firmware.  I have turned my printer on and off.  I get an error message that says "No printer found."  I am not able to contact HP due to my warranty being expired--even though I bought the extended warranty from the store.  Please help.  Thanks!

    This printer is listed here:

has offering eprint.  However, some community messages say that it does not work.
I have not been able to get an email address set up for the printer, or to figure out whether or not it is web services enabled.
It does not have the icon on the touch screen that is shown in the hp instructions.
    Any clues out there?

  • Printing Issues with HP Officejet J4580

    Howdy
I can not print to my HP Officejet J4580. The printer itself does work as I have run a test on it.
Any data I send appears on the print queue, but that is all. Nothing happens on the printer end. Also, when attempting to scan, using Preview or PDF Pen, no joy either.

    Thanks Klaus
I tried that but no joy. Data actually arrives at the print queue and then disappears, as if the job has been completed. However, nothing happens.

The indicated update (HP - Other hardware, Printer - Null Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8620) is supplied by Microsoft was an optional update for the HP 8620. Installation fails, with 80070490 error. Hi HereInJersey,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that printed photos from your  Officejet 6600 don't have the quality that you expect.
