Printing to a Lexmark Optra E312

I updated to Mac OS X (10.4.9) last month and since then, I cannot print on my Lexmark Optra E312 anymore. It used to work on Mac OS X (I think it was OS X (10.1 or 10.2), but now it doesn't. I have downloaded a new driver and the computer can see the printer but when I send a print job, the only thing that happens is that the Data and Error light flash for 2-3 seconds and then it quits the job. I've unplugged everything and plugged it back in. Even tried switching the USB ports but have had no luck. Any one have any advice?

  • Lexmark Optra E312 still won't print in snow leopard

I have removed the printer, reset the printer, installed the Lexmark drivers, all to no avail. I get a partial page every time, after waiting two minutes for it to do a supplies check (this is a laser printer, not an inkjet printer).

Fred, I'm sorry, I mistyped about where I look for "get info" on a selected document. I do look under the File menu. It is grayed out as is "About Appleworks" and right clicking/ctrl click doesn't work.
For instance: I select (in Finder) an AW doc created in 2009. Right click doesn't work. File menu, About Appleworks grayed out. I double click to open it. Right clicking brings up usual editing menu. File menu visible but no "get info," About Appleworks says it's version AW 6.2.9. This doc doesn't preview and doesn't print. Then I change font and type size and save. This time it previews (content creator AppleWorks 6, creation date Jan. 10, 2011. AND it prints. I close it and select it again. Right click doesn't work, File menu and About Appleworks still grayed out and the "last opened" says 12/7/09.
glaucous, are you certain you are in Finder when you do this?
If you are in Finder, the Application menu (first to the right of the Apple menu) should be "Finder", and its first item should be "About Finder," not "About AppleWorks."
The only time you will see "About AppleWorks" in the Application menu is when you are 'in' AppleWorks.
It will be greyed when you have a dialogue box (for example, the Open dialogue, or the Save dialogue) open. Under this condition Hide AppleWorks and Hide Others will be the only active items in the Application menu. All items in the File menu will be greyed, as will be all items in Edit and Window menus. Help will show AppleWorks Help as an active item. And, as you note, right-clicking the file name or icon will have no effect (other than selecting the file), and double-clicking the file will open it (in the Open dialogue).

  • Last os upgrade creates printing error on Lexmark Optra E 312L

    Dear Common Wisdom:
Every since I installed the 10.5.4 upgrade I can't print to my USB-connected Lexmark Optra E312L.
The following message is always printed out:
    ERROR: undefined
    OFFENDING COMMAND: csq
    STACK:
    Any ideas?

Here's what Lexmark techsupport responded to my inquiry:
Thank you for contacting Lexmark email support. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
In reply to your email, this printer is not supported on MAC 10.5 (Leopard) machine. I am not sure what driver have
you installed to print from this printer. This is why you are getting only this error message instead of printing the
document. If you open the compatibility list, you can find that Optra E312 L is not compatible with MAC Leopard.
I guess that's it? My printer died with 10.5.
    No chance to revive it?

  • Is Lexmark Optra E312 still supported?

Although I am not having any crashes and the printer is recognized, all of my margins are mixed up and the top of my documents get cropped. Hours of fiddling with custom settings has not resolved the problem and of course, shouldn't be necessary.
I did do a search and noticed something similar was being discussed back in November of last year, so clearly it is still an issue.
Lexmark's latest driver for this model is from 2005, for 10.2. Would I just be better off buying a new printer that I know works with Leopard?
Thankfully I didn't upgrade my MacBook so I do all my printing from there but it's a pain to have to transfer files from the iMac just to print. Does anyone know if Apple is addressing this?
    Thanks.

    Thank you for replying.
Both OpenPrinting and Lexmark's site say the default General Postscript Driver detected by Leopard should suffice.
The one from OpenPrinting didn't work for me; only a test printout was the result.
The pxlmono package doesn't include any Lexmark PPDs.
I guess I will wait and hope the next update from Apple fixes this or that Lexmark releases a newer driver. A new printer might be the best option.
    Thanks again.

  • Just bought a new PC with Windows 7 installed on it. I'm having trouble Adding my Lexmark Optra S 1625 Printer ( no drivers found )?

I have contacted Lexmark and they claim that the OS has a compatable driver included.   But, so far I have NOT been successful at adding the printer.   The Optra S 1625 is currently shared by one of my XP PC's on my network.   My new, Windows 7 PC, is finding the printer just fine, but is not able to locate an acceptalbe driver for it.   Perhaps, I am just not familiar enough yet with how to work with Windows 7 to get around the issue.   I need some help.   Lexmark claims that Windows 7 should have a compatable driver included with the OS ???  Please Advise.

    Hi Fidmon,
After performing a research, I just get the same conclusion as Rick Dee and Shadow Walker. There is no Lexmark Optra S 1625 Printer driver for Windows 7 provided on Windows Update Catalog. Also, no driver downloading information for your printer listed on the Lexmark Product Download Center.
At this time, you can try the suggestions raised by Shadow Walker to install the similar printer driver to check the issue. For your convenicen, I have located a driver for OPTRA S 1255 printer. Please download and install the driver to test the issue.
Please note: Since this is a Windows XP driver, I can't guarantee if it works for you, but we can try installing the driver under Windows XP Compatible Mode.
    OPTRA S 1255
If the driver did not work, I strongly suggest communicating with Lexmark Support and ask them to produce the proper driver for Windows 7.
    Judy :)

  • Connect Lexmark Optra E310 printer to iMAC

I have recently purchased aniMAC running OS Lion and cannot connect my Lexmark Optra E310 printer. I am using a parralel port/usb connector but no message shows on the screen - I expected to see an installation wizard of some sort. Can anyone help please?

Your post is a little confusing, there isn't any such thing as a wireless cable modem. Are you sure you aren't talking about a wi-fi router?
Also have you read the instructions for connecting it?

  • Lexmark Optra T610: "Printer Not Responding"

Right. Where to start. Just got a new PB G4 17". Used to have a titanium G4 15" running 10.1 through 10.3. Now running 10.4.3 on this new 'book. I have a Lexmark Optra T610 with the USB option, which used to function just fine on the old computer but which is now making me want to toss gasoline and a lighted match on it. Basically, all the necessary software has been installed and the correct (ie, working) cable has been connected. The Printer Setup Utility sees and recognizes the printer, and I can select it in all the print dialogs, as well as change various settings such as resolution. However, when I press Print and the computer does its thing and sends the file to the printer, I get an error message saying "Printer Not Responding". This is driving me nuts and I can't find any word of this anywhere (mind you, I haven't come to the "end" of the internet yet, so maybe the answer is actually out there somewhere). And yes, I have tried doing strange things, such as deleting PPDs and preferences and so forth. I've also gone through all the menus on the printer until it's obvious I'm going in circles. It's like the printer has turned into a feline that simply ignores its master. GRRRR!!!! Thanks for any help you can provide. --Pete

I have had exactly the same problem from my iBook. Until I upgraded to Tiger all I had to do was plug in the USB cable and print. Now I get the "Printer Not Responding" message. I install the latest print driver for OS 10.4 from Lexmark and the computer lists the printer in the print dialog box.
I spoke with Apple tech support and he suggested resetting the printing system after reviewing what else I had done. Noting had worked and neither did this. The only other thing he could suggest was to contact Lexmark, if that didn't work he said we would have to try an archive and reinstall.
I really hope someone has a more constructive suggestion.
    Thanks,
    Edward

  • Lexmark Optra S 1250 - Working under Leopard

I wanted to let people know that the Lexmark Optra S 1250 printer can work under leopard (10.5.1). It was quite a (stressful) experience getting it working but here were the essential steps:
    1. After installing 10.5.1, reinstall the latest Optra S printer driver.
    2. Ensure the printer is connected and powered on - mine is connected using a USB to Parallel converter cable but could also use an Ethernet cable
    3. In the 'Printer & Fax Preference pane click the "+" to add a new printer.
    4. Let the search for the printer driver complete(by gosh it is extremely slow!)
    5. Click "Add" and when the drop-down box starts looking for 'printer options', don't wait (it never completes) but click the "Configure" button. Select your options and then exit.
    6. Hopefully the printer now shows up as added on the left side of the Preference pane.
    7. Close and then Restart the computer. I couldn't get the printer to respond to print commands (drove me crazy!) until after I decided to shut down and restart the computer.
    8. If you still have problems, you may need to go back to the Printer & Fax Preference Pane, control-click on the printer icon in the left side of the pane and select "Reset print system". After that, redo steps 1 to 7.
    Good luck

  • Lexmark Optra S 1255 Driver

Each time I print a document the Lexmark Optra S 1255 prints the job, and then an error page:
    ERROR: undefinded

I am using Mac OS X 10.5.4 I downloaded the latest drivers from lexmark's website. I don't know where the problem is for the printer IS printing. There must been some data sent that the printer does not understand.
The error is printed even though I switched OFF the PS error page printing in the Lexmark's menu.
Anybody who has an idea or who could solve this problem is most welcome.
    Thanx

  • Dual Core 10.4.4 & Lexmark Optra R+

I did a couple of short searches but no evident discussion readily available about this combination.
I purchased a Lexmark Optra R+ and AppleTalk in 1996 for use with a Power Mac 7500. A great working pair with OS 7, 8 and thru 9 and Lexmark continued to update the necessary supporting drivers.
In 2003, I purchased a G4 Dual 867 and began using OS X right away. I remember no trouble getting the Optra to work with 10.2.3 well from the start. The OS X drivers were again available from Lexmark. This time, I used it on a LAN running it at the end thru a router then a switch. Not only did the G4 use its services well, but a couple of WiFi computers (windoz) were suing it also.
Now we come to the present day. After a couple months of down time with a bad fuser, I got the Optra up and running again last week, and proceeded to begin the installation to a G5 Quad (now 10.4.4) I received December 1, 2005.
Again, Lexmark has a driver specific OS X.4. It’s really nice that they continue to work on drivers for a 10-year-old machine.
The driver installed easily enough, the Quad seemed to recognize its driver and the fact that it’s connected to the network, but it will not print a page. Even though it activates the printer from inactive mode just like the other two Macs, did, it seems to chew on the information being sent for a little while, then just goes back into its state of rest, not even a blank page is spit out. Bummer. I've also tried installing it on the second Ethernet port with a direct cable with the same symptoms as a result.
I’ve deleted and done the install process twice, talked to Apple Support (yes I have Applecare, doesn’t everyone?) for an hour (their stumped having me do that delete and install once again).
Well, that’s the basics. I suppose I could go on, but most of you will not care or have a clue. I understand, but for that one or two of you that might just have already been there, I’d appreciate your assist. Feel welcome in emailing me if you would like more explanation.
The worst that can happen would be that my poor baby will be relegated to the steady work from those other afore mentioned machines. Ugh!
Hey, if I haven’t already mentioned it to all of you, have a Happy New Year.

While checking other issues, I finally figured out where to install the correct settings for the network printer. Works fine now.

  • HT3669 Lexmark Optra E310 not available?

I tried to install a printer connected via AirPort, the printed is easily found and offered to "Download & Install", however, it failed with following dialog,

Can't install the software for the Lexmark International Lexmark Optra E310 because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.

  • I am unable to print to a Lexmark C782 printer

I have been troubleshooting a print issue for 2 weeks. I have two iMac desktops. I am trying to print to Lexmark_C782 printers via ethernet. I have selected the printers through System Preferences>Printers and Scanners. When adding the printers I select the "+" sign, select the printer on the default tab. iMac finds the correct print driver (which I have downloaded and installed). I then select ADD and the printer is loaded into the print queue. I send a print job to the printer and a few things happen; 1, the print job disappears and never prints and the print queue shows nothing in the queue. 2, I will send a print job to the printer and the printer will display a 900 or 900.43  RIP software error or 3, on occasion it has printed (very rare). This same thing happens when using IPP and LPD. At this writing, I am unable to add printers using IPP, where as before I could.  IPP doesn't find the printers. Apple is unable to find the printer. I can open the terminal window and ping the printer. I can open Safari and brtowse to the webpage of the printer.
There has not been any changes to the computer.

    1. Deactivated Appletalk on printers. I have read it is no longer supported, Apple uses bonjour
    2. I have downloaded and installed the Mac OSX print driver from Lexmark but found that wasn't the latest.
    3. I have made sure the latest print driver is installed. Version 11.2. Found that on the Apple website
    4. I have innstalled the printer via IPP, LPD and bojour
    5. I have 18 C782 printers
    6. I have a network at my office
         16 workstations
The workstation i am working on is connected into a switch that is connected into another switch in the closet
All C782 printers are in one physical location with static IP addresses.
They are all connected into a 24 port switch which is then connected to another switch in a closet
Both switches are connected via different CAT 5 cables to the same switch in the closet.
    7. I am trying to print from Adobe programs.
    8. With the exact same setup I am able to print successfully from Windows 7 to all printers without any type of errors
All of the printers are  printing images, creative fonts on greeting cards (Adobe In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc). Not sure if that matters but thought worth mentioning.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

I talked to Adobe Support tonight and found this issue to be a known problem with some of the Adobe Cloud products when using older hardware, in this case the C782.
So, we found a workaround. Unfortunately the work around isn’t efficient and adds more steps to their normal printing routine
Open InDesign and create, modify delete the card
    Select FileàExport
A window will appear. Pick the location you wish to save the file
Once the File is saved another window will appear
    “EXPORT Adobe PDF”
An Export to Adobe PDF window will appear. Accept all defaults. MAKE CERTAIN “VIEW PDF
    After EXPORTING” is CHECKED
    Select Export
Once EXPORT is complete the file will open automatically in Adobe Acrobat
Most likely the screen will be very large
Select the + - sign at the top of the page to adjust the page size to view the image
    Select FileàPrint
    The Print window will appear
Select the printer from the drop down
    # of COPIES is just below Printer
    Select OK
I hope this helps anyone who is having similar issues
    Thanks

There is a list of Lexmark drivers included with Leopard here:

Unless there are drivers provided by Apple to work with the printer, you're out of luck. The latest drivers provided by Lexmark are for OS X 10.4 Intel. Unfortunately, this can happen when slightly older peripherals and newer software don't mesh.
