Printing to a shared mac printer from xp please help
Hi,
I'm having real trouble printing from my girlfriends xp laptop to a printer connected to my imac running OS 10.6.2
I believe I've tried everything and there was a point where it was working beautifully then it just stopped.
I think i need just a step by step type thing to aid me. If anyone could assist that would be excellent. Thanks.

To assist with creating a printer queue on the PC to connect to your Mac share, I suggest you install Bonjour for Windows on the girlfriend's laptop.
With this application installed, you will have a Bonjour Add Printer Wizard on the Desktop. This will help you locate your printer share and then create the printer queue. Note that you should just use the default Generic PostScript printer on XP, when you get to the Manufacture Type and Model step. If you select the actual Windows driver for the printer, this can cause problems.

Printing to a shared Windows printer
I can't seem to print to a shared Vista printer on my home network. I've scoured the Internet and this support site and have run into brick walls. According to the Apple web site: "Shared Windows printers automatically appear in the Mac OS X Printer Setup Utility so they can be added to the Macintosh as a local printer queue."
This isn't happening for me. When I bring up the Printer Setup Utility, I get the "Printer List". I click on "Add". I get the "Printer Browser". In the protocol selector, there are three protocols, none of which relate to Windows. So I click "More Printers..."
A secondary printer browser appears. I select "Windows Printing" in the top selector and "Home" (my Windows workgroup name) in the selector below that. I see three entries. These are the three computers on my home network (1 iMac, 2 Vista PCs). There are no printers.
There should be one printer, but there isn't. And that's the roadblock. I can access the shared folders on the computers in the network from my MacBook Pro and the Vista computer with no local printers can print to the shared Vista printer.
At work, I can print from this MacBook to a printer that is served by a Windows server of some kind. But on my home network, my iMac, my MacBook Pro, and my son's PowerBook are all equally unable to detect and print to the shared Vista printer. I should add that when the two Windows computers were running WinXP, the same problem existed.
My gut tells me that there is one tiny setting on either the PC or the Macs isn't set right. If anyone can enlighten me, I would be forever grateful.

MikeI have a similar problem trying to network two Macs and a PC for printer and file sharing. I too have the nagging feeling that there's one simple setting somewhere that would cure the problem. I added a contact to my iphone 4s and when I did a sync manually it is not showing up on my MAC in address book - please help....I checked off sync all contacts in iTunes - does it only work one way from computer to phone?
Is it because the new itunes looks different.

Then it should work just the same as on your old computer. -

I FIXED IT MYSELF.
I simply let the iPod run out of battery.
Then it said CONNECT TO POWER.
And then I did.
And after 15 minutes, it worked!

power everything off printer & router.
re-boot ipad.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake

iPhoto isn't in my applications to I can't drag it to dock. All images and movies are still on Mac (heart did stop as I thought I'd lost everything and nearly cried) but I don't know how to get iPhoto back. I'm worried about trying different things as don't want to lose anything on Mac. Noticed that I haven't been using Time Machine and bought a couple of years ago so not sure what operating with. I have our 2 CDs from when we bought the Mac - 13-inch Macbook Pro (Mac OS X Install DVD) and 13 inch MacBook Pro (Applications Install DVD). My photos are not backed up so not sure if I need to do this first - can I back up to iCLoud or do I need newer software?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - need lots of step by step instructions though!All images and movies are still on Mac
Of course they are. Deleting an app doesn't delete the files that's in it. -
ollowing problem: I have around 600 contacts on my iphone and Ipad and would like to sync with contact list on my mac book air but its not working and whatever I do I get stuck on the 44 contacts I have on my mac contact-list. Please Help!!!! thanks
First, be sure that the contacts on the devices are in the "icloud" section and not the "On my iPhone" (or iPad) section of the contact listings/groups.
Missing contacts:
Here's a test to perform - using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and go to the Contacts page. If most of them are gone, then they are gone.
If they show up, then the problem is that your device is not connecting to the Contacts database on icloud.
On the device, go to Settings>icloud. Be sure icloud is on and using the right ID. If not, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account - this just disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost. Then log back in using the correct ID. ALSO - be sure the Contacts are turned on (on the same screen).
Note: Contacts are not part of an iCloud backup, since they are part of contacts database on iCloud's servers. So performing a restore will not help.

Then they have been deleted. There are many reasons for this. One possibility is that someone else is using the same iCloud account (family member, etc.) and they deleted contacts, thinking they did want them on THEIR device. How to get them back? Unfortunately, an iCloud backup does not include any of the sync databases, like contacts, notes, calendars, reminders, etc. because the data is already stored in these databases. Your only hope for restoring the data is if you had that data on a computer (like a mac's Contacts, Calendars, etc.) and that data was backed up using whatever backup software you typically use (e.g. Time Machine on a mac). Just restore the data files back to the computer. Other than that, I'm afraid the data is gone. -

Your advice did not help me. I also installed 10.7.4 combo but the situation is the same.
my internet connection is ok, mail is ok, but app store after 3 resets does not recognize my ID and it says "connection is not possible". Why? It sounds like it still has her information on it, so it might be efficient to navigate to Settings, then General, then Reset, then Erase All Content and Settings. You can then set up the phone again, using your information. This way the phone will be yours, officially, and her data and information will be removed.

After i updated my iPhone i realized i do not have my camera anymore how to get it back? I also using a new notebook so I do not have a back up to transfer it from. Please help
I'm assuming you mean you don't have your camera application (which is not saved on any backup anyway).
One way to find it is to get to your home screen, swipe the screen from right to left, and type "Camera" in the search field. Camera is a core Apple app and cannot be deleted, so it must be there somewhere.
An alternate approach is to do Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout -

You can't change to 'None' until you clear up the previous payment problem. Add a fresh iTunes gift card, or add a credit card, and then once the billing issue clears, you can choose 'None' again.

JulieTry enabling the Personal Hotspot on the iPhone and connecting the Mac to the Internet thru it. If Facebook works ok then, that would mean the ISP is either blocking or having connection problems whereas the phone carrier is not.
Be mindful that carrier data charges can be outrageous so use this as a test first.
