Printing to Adobe - missing or wrong formatted first line

I open a PDF file. Then I select a part of the content that I want to print into another PDF.
I choose Adobe PDF print.
When the result show up, I see only half of the first line. And sometimes even half of the last line.
We are using Windows 7 and acrobat pro 9.
Anyone has an idea what's going wrong?
Thanks in advance
Greetings
Lainkes

Hi Lainkes,
How are you printing the selected part of the PDF content?
I tried by selecting an area using "Snapshot Tool" and then File-->Print. From the "Print" dialog box, selected the "Selected Graphic" radio button.
The output was as desired.
Are your steps different than mentioned above? Does your PDF contains Text or Images or Both?

Very strange.  The only thing I can suggest is to update to 11.0.5.

  • Fonts and indent first line in adobe forms

    Hi,
I have a smartstyle with paragraph format DF for which <b>left margin</b> is <b>1.00cm</b> and <b>indent first line</b> is <b>-1.00cm</b>. I am using this style in textmodule where i can see the text correctly as desired. but when i am using this text module in <b>adobe form</b>, <b>indent first line</b> is <b>not recognized</b> i.e the first line is also starting from 1.00cm which is supposed to be 0cm.
can anyone tell me how i can resolve this and also i need <b>Arial</b> font style in smartstyles which is not currently available when i am checking smartstyles, how  can i add this font style in smartstyles?

    Hi Sreenivasulu
Not sure if this will help you... but just some pointers....
How about triggering the javascript on selection of a particular record in the table...? i.e. call the particular javascript function only when some row in the table is selected and not otherwise.
About row selection, you can try using some type of UI control like radio button and through iteration of the table, you can find out which row's radio button has been selected..
(Please post the query in Adobe Forms section for more hints and suggestions... )
    Thanks

  • Set first line indent to 0

    Hi guys!
Wondering if there's a scipt to set the first line indent to 0 (just affecting the selected paragraph)?
In my parapraph style i've set first line indent to 3 mm, but i don't want text after header to have indent.
I've scanned the web for solutions but just found complex scripts, that seems to be limited to one named paragraph style.
I don't want my script to be limited to a specific paragraph style, but rather a general script appliable on different paragraph styles in different documents.
    I've tried scipts like:
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5.5"
set first line indent to 0
    end tell
    No success.
I'm, as you've probably figured out, very new to scipting.
    Someone?

    Henrik

    JavaScript rather than Applescript:
    if (app.selection.length && app.selection[0].hasOwnProperty("baseline")) {
        app.selection[0].firstLineIndent = 0;
But... why not just make styles based on your indented ones but with the first line indent set to 0 and apply those with shortcuts? No overrides that way and no need for scripts.

  • Error The File "Print.ai" is in an unkown format and cannot be opened adobe Ilustrator 5.5

I am getting an error The File "Print.ai" is in an unkown format and cannot be opened adobe Ilustrator 5.5 on Mac OX 10.10.2 but was also the same in Mac Mavericks. any thoughts?

    d,
In addition to what Larry said, there is a number of levels you can try for general issues, described in the following list. 1) and 2) are the easy ones, 3) is the basic preference file (irreversible procedure), 4) is the whole preferences folder (reversible and more thorough, needed for some issues), 6) is the full ultimate solution, 5) can be skipped in this case.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media, see below. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

When I try to synchronise my calendar it all goes wrong when I have recurring appointments which I enter on Outlook. These are in the format ' first Tuesday of each month' as I play Bridge with different partners on different days each month so it is NOT every 4 weeks necessarily, it depends on the month.  These get lost on synchronisation or sometimes end up on a totally different day/date.  What can I do as it is very annoying.
Also it altered some theatre dates where I had entered both date and name of play - the name of the play vanished when I synchronised not just on i-pad but it deleted the info from Outlook as well.

Others have the same complaint.  iCal on the iPad can do recurring appointments, but not in the format you want (First Tuesday of every Month).  It will do the same DATE each month (e.g, the 25th of each month), but for now it does not do a particular DAY of each month.

  • Borderless printing with Adobe reader or acrobat and HP Officejet Pro 8100

    Hello,
When printing borderless with my Pro 8100 the printed pdf moves about 2mm to te left on the paper. (White vertical strip on the right side is the result and on the left side something is missing!).
What causes the problem seems to be that the HP Pro 8100 printsoftware makes the A4-format a littlebit larger (214,55 x 300,91) than an actual A4-format (210,00 x 297,00) when you choose borderless printing.
Therefore, I suppose that the pdf shoud be centered before printing. Adobe reader doesn't seem to have the possiblity to center the page however.
    Any tips?

The borderless printing option is intended to print photo's on photo paper.  When printing borderless the print is slightly oversized to eliminate (or reduce) to chance for white edges due to media skey.  Depending on your operating system you may have a setting in the Advanced tab of the driver for Overspray, set this to minimum and see if it helps.

  • How to enable frontend printing using Adobe Print Forms

Otto Gold at the forum "SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe" gave me the tip that Sandra Rossi in this forum might help me out. Here is the link to my original thread How to enable frontend printing using Adobe Print Forms
    My question was:
    Hi Experts!
Did anyone of you manage to enable frontend printing using Adobe Print Forms? In order to save administration effort we use frontend printing in our ERP system. We just changed some SMARTFORMS to the new Adobe Forms technology. Now we learned that direct frontend printing does not work with these forms.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Gerald

I think you'll be disappointed by a rather negative answer but I'll try to explain everything I know (or think I know) the best I can
The simplest solution is to do a preview, and print from Adobe Reader! (as I could see on one project, users have to display one more dialog than usually to print) It's the best workaround according to me.
    How Adobe form printing works:
When you print an Adobe form from SAP, a printer language (PCL, PS, ZPL, PDF) is retrieved from TSP0B table according to the device type, ADS (Adobe Document Services, installed in the SAP java stack) is then contacted to generate the form: a file corresponding to the printer language is generated and sent back to SAP (there are also 2 other little files but it's of none interest here). SAP stores it as a file (named SPOOL...) in the global directory (DIR_GLOBAL when you use AL11 transaction).
When you ask SAP to print it, it sends the file as is to the printer.
Note: when you ask SAP to display the spool, SAP sends a request to ADS which will send back a PDF (binary stream which is not stored on disk, just displayed on frontend).
    How frontend printing works:
If you want to print a normal spool via frontend, SAP doesn't know the language of the printer you will choose. SAP sends the spool in a format named SAPWIN to a frontend program named SAPLPD, it converts the SAPWIN format into GDI, a Windows format that is understood by all printer drivers, and it is sent to the printer driver (you have selected) which converts the GDI format into the printer language.
    Any workaround?
First possibility would be that ADS converts the PDF into SAPWIN format (by creating an Adobe .XDC file at the ADS side). SAP says it's not possible in Note 685571 - Printing PDF-based forms. As I understand, SAPWIN is a very simple language compared to PCL for example, so it is very difficult to convert a PDF to SAPWIN without losing much information. There's a SAP note about the SAPWIN language if you want to check.
Second possibility is to print directly the PDF through Adobe Reader: you get the PDF from ADS, download it to the frontend (easy), and execute directly Adobe Reader print function. Unfortunately, I don't know if it's possible. Moreover, we should enhance the standard SAP print dialog...
Third possibility is the one I recommended at the beginning of this post

  • Barcode printing in ADOBE form when data and Barcode are in different pages

How to send raw value to the Barcode when data values are availabe in Master  page and Barcode in the Design page.
Barcode needs to print once on the first page, so it is on Designer page.
Values needed for display of barcode is avilabe on Master page.
How to communicate data between Master page and Designer Page in ADOBE Form?

    Hi,
Declare a variable of character type and concatenate DTAP and Bar code value into that variable.
Later print that in required bar code format.
    Try this.

  • When did .AI format first come into use?

I'm trying to find out when the .AI file format first come into use? Also, what is the difference in size between an Illustrator file saved as a .AI file versus PDF, EPS, and .PNG? Also does saving it as a PNG change the file from a vector image to a bitmap image? If I take an AI file that was saved as a PNG, can I then place it back into AI without losing anything?
I'm a beginner and I'm having trouble getting these answers directly from adobe help.
    Thanks

The .ai format has been since Illustrator 88. Back then you did not have .pdf compatibility option, but the format was more like .eps with a preview built in for other apps. Though there are similarities between the current and original, they .ai format has evolved to add features such as transparency since the original version.
The file size depends on the content physical size and compression settings.
The PNG (Portable Network Graphics)is a bitmapped format, so the vector date must get converted to pixels.
Once you convert to .PNG you have lost alot, all font references, bezier shapes. You could print out the both file formats and on a low res printer they may look similar, but the vector graphics print at the maximum resolution of the printer, so you have crisper edges. On a hi resoluiton printer or larger size the 2 formats would look much more different.

  • What You see is not what you get when printing a adobe PDF file

Hi, we use adobe pdf files to send printing of maps to different customers. Quite often a pdf file looks Ok on the screen but printed on paper some lines is crossing the paper which should not be there.
It is easy to reproduce and seems to happen on different computers. Most of them use windows7. If we use another program than adobe for displaying and printing the same file the print is correct.
Is this a bug in print driver or in the Adobe reader which produce the data for the print driver. Most files is created by a thin print solution called UNIPRINT.

The text spacing also frustrates me, but I'm afraid is a drawback of the iWeb system. I always have to go back and re-tweak certain paragraphs that I try to squeeze into a smaller space. I've learned that it's best to allow for a little breathing room with the width and height of the text field. If the text field is exactly the width and height of your paragraph in iWeb, chances are the lines are going to bump down just a hair, creating an extra line of text which will decrease your line spacing if the height is also tight. Does that make sense?
As far as the hyperlinks go, I used to get freaked out because what I thought was the wrong formatting, but what I found out was just the formatting for having visited the linked site.
What iWeb does for those of us who don't know or don't care to mess with html code is an extremely complex process that I can't even begin to understand. And on top of that you add the relative unpredictability of the various browsers and systems that are out there. You have to roll with the punches and figure out these little discrepancies to get the finished product you want.
    Good luck!

  • Colour prints ok with Photoshop but wrong  with Lightroom.

I am using Lightroom 4.4 and Photoshop CS6 with an Epson Stylus Photo P50. In both programs I have set colour management handled by printer, and in both programs I have set printer colour profile to Adobe RGB. Prints from Photoshop are ok, prints form Lightroom are wrong and have to low saturated colours. Greyscale seems to be comparable. In both programs the image on screen is the same and ok. How can I get Lightroom print the correct colours?

The way I understand it, the Adobe RGB in the Print module applies only to the previews, and draft printing, but I may be wrong.
See Lightroom Help | Color management. Under "How Lightroom manages color" it says:
    "Lightroom uses Adobe RGB:
    - for previews in the Library, Map, Book, Slideshow, Print, and Web modules
    - when printing in Draft mode"
In another help document Lightroom Help | Print job options and settings it says:
"To send the image data to the printer driver without first converting the image according to a profile, choose Managed By Printer."
So, I assume LR is sending the image in its internal color space, but then again it is just my interpretation, although it is compatible with what happens, i.e.  the "color numbers" from a big color space are sent to a smaller color space, without conversion, and the colors get washed out. It is much the same as when an Adobe RGB encoded image is viewed on non-color managed program.
As you do not have specific profile for your printer and get good results using Adobe RGB you may want to try to cheat a little.
Try this: in the Color Management tab of the Print module, instead of selecting "Managed by printer" select "Other..." and you will see a list of the available profiles on your computer (eventually ticking "Include display profiles"). There, choose Adobe RGB.
In any case, I'm convinced this is NOT the correct approach.

  • Adding data file to the existing tablespace given wrong format file name

    Hi
while adding the data file existing tablespace. i given wrong format '/dev/oracle/data/user_data_02' i miss the .dbf extension for this data file.
Alter tablespace ts2 add datafile '/dev/oracle/data/user_data_02' size 200m
    the data file was created.
So i want to know. What will happen if the data file is wrong format?
    Thanks in advance

it doesnt matter what you name the file. oracle will be able to use it. if you need to change the name to meet your naming conventions, then you will need to take the db down and rename the file at the OS level and then startup mount to rename the file at the DB level.
why are you puting files in /dev? Thats for devices.

    Hi Raja,
I presume you have gone through the debugging process of testing your template locally first to get the expected result.....
If yes, this note might probably be helpful "Changing Output Format to RTF or Excel in XML Publisher Request Does Not Display Output Correctly (Doc ID 404512.1)"
