Printing to an Epson Picturemate

Aperture prints wonderfully to my 2400, though I usually print to that printer from Photoshop. I'd really like to use Aperture, though, to dash off some quick 4x6s to the Picturemate.
Problem is, the bottom and left sides of the prints are white. In other words, it looks like Aperture is just shifting the whole picture up and to the right. I've "calibrated" the print area, but even at the lower-most and left-most settings, I get the white borders.
Anyone have any luck printing to a Picturemate?
I should note that this is with the first 30-day demo that came out, which I believe is 1.5. My paid-for copy will be here tomorrow. Maybe 1.5.2 addresses this problem?
Thanks.

I struggled with this for quite a while. Here's a solution:
After selecting "Print Image," from Aperture's menu, click the "Printer Settings" button and choose PictureMate. There should be a pull-down bar that says "Layout." Click on this bar and select "Paper Handling." You should see an area where you can select your destination paper size. Click the button that says "Scale to fit paper size" and choose 4x6 borderless. (I saved this setting as a preset, naming mine "PictureMate.") Click "Done" after this.
Now select 4x6 borderless in the paper size pull-down bar in Aperture's print dialog box. I also choose "Scale to fill entire page" under layout options.
This should get you a great borderless print.

  • Printing Problem With Epson PictureMate PM240

I use an Epson PictureMate PM240 to print 4x6 proofs from negatives and slides scanned using a Nikon Coolscan V ED. So far, even without calibration, the prints I get using Photoshop Elements 5 (and previously 3.0) have been good enough. I understand that the PictureMate is not exactly a pro printer, but I like its small size and output for what I need it for.
I recently loaded Lightroom 1.1 for a 30 day trial. I like the idea of getting DNG files from Vuescan for a touch of processing in lightroom without having to save the files. I also love the user interface and workflow. However, for some reason, I cannot get a decent print to the PictureMate from Lightroom. I can use the same DNG file in PSE 5.0 and get a print close to what I see on my monitor. I can actually use the same file and print it directly off the PictureMate (by inserting the memory card into the PictureMate media reader) and get prints much closer to my monitor than from Lightroom. I tried for days and wasted lots of paper but I cannot get Lightroom to print like PSE/Photoshop/PictureMate(direct).
Is this the case where Lightroom needs a special printer profile? I don't have any for the PictureMate and my monitor is not calibrated. Still, I cannot understand why I can get good prints from PSE and (Photoshop CS3, at least the trial beta version) but not Lightroom. You would think the printing would be the same in Lightroom and Photosho/PSE as they are from the same company.
    Any ideas?

Boy Patrick, no response at all after 2 days... I'll chime in here.
Printing to this printer from lightroom (LR) probably will not work. To print from LR you need have a printer that will allow the application to control the color management. The PM240 does not have this capability. You are probably wondering why you cannot let the printer manage the colors just like the other apps you mention. The reason being that the operating color space of LR is the very large ProPhotoRGB, and your printer is more than likely expecting a sRGB color space, a very common yet smaller color space. Reading a ProPhotoRGB image as if it is a sRGB will result in the dark muddy image that you see complained about in this forum very often.
If you want to use this printer and use LR to manage your images. After doing any editing that you like in LR. Export the images in sRGB format and load them onto a memory card. Then print directly from the card, a neat feature of your printer.
    Good Luck.

  • ILife won't Print to Epson PictureMate

I just love iPhoto, but I can't get it to print to my Epson PictureMate. The PictureMate prints from memoery cards and will print a nozzle check from the iMac, but it goes through the motions of printing then indicates that it is 'Stopped'. The primter icon in the Dock shows a red exclamation mark!

I too was troubled by this issue, and after the second attempt got this response from Epson which solved the problem.
Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.
Please try the following to resolve the issue that you are having.

    installed.
    4.  Click the Add tab at the top of the Printer Browser window and then
select More Printers tab at the bottom of the Printer Browser window and
then select  Epson USB and then select your printer under Product Name. If
applicable select the arrow by the Standard option under the Page Setup
option and select the All option. If not simply click on ADD.
    5.  Close out of any open windows and test your printer. Please make sure
that you select the correct printer in the page setup and print menu of the
    application.

  • How do I get accurate color when printing from PS6 to an Epson PictureMate printer?

I am trying to print from Photoshop CS6 to an Epson PictureMate color printer and an Epson PictureMate 225 printer.  In both cases I want to let Photoshop manage color.  I am finding no color profile for Epson in the list of profiles provided by Photoshop.  The best I can do is choose “display” as my profile.  Still my color prints do not match what I see on my screen in Photoshop. They are flat and washed out.   How can I obtain print profiles for my Epson Printers to be used with Photoshop 6?

Epson would have to provide generic profiles. Check their website. Other than that simply let the printer (driver) manage things and only work in sRGB with monitor calibration. Most printer drivers for consumer devices are built around that assumption and will produce reasonably good results using their driver's logic.

  • Epson PictureMate Shows "Stopped" After Last Java and Security Updates

    Hi,
After installing the following updates ("Final Cut Pro Update" (5.1.3), "Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 5" (5.0), "Security Update 2007-002 (PowerPC)" (1.0), "Security Update 2007-001" (1.0) and "Daylight Saving Time Update" (1.0)). My Epson PictureMate started showing the dreaded "Printer Stopped" issue noted y many other on many other printers.
I've tried the Printer Setup Utility "reset printing system", removing and adding back the printer etc. The Epson Photo 820 still works fine. The PictureMate will also work fine from any other account. The account I'm using it in is not an admin acocunt, but a Standard account. The other family accounts can also use the printer, so the issue is local to my 1 main user.
I've downloaded and tried the "PSR" utility from www.fixamac.com. The utility doesn't find anything wrong, but it does complain about CUPS permissions (as did Apple's Disk Utility). I'm thinking the resetting of the printer system deletes a number of directories and when they are recreated they seem to come back with permissions the system (and PSR) doesn't like. Both utilities repair and don't find the issues again, but no joy on the printing.
I've also dumped the preferences with no change.
Since other users can print fine, I'm assuming CUPS and the printer drivers are OK. Any idea what other secret files in my User folder could be messed up and affecting the single printer?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Bluetooth and Epson PictureMate

I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to see if the Epson Picture Mate printer worked on a Mac using Bluetooth. I have purchased a new Picture Mate and would like to know your experience using one of these with Bluetooth prior to making the investment for their Bluetooth adapter.

  • Epson PictureMate Deluxe and Mavericks

Mid-2009 Intel Mac recently reformatted with a clean new Mavericks from a USB based installer does not show Epson PictureMate Drivers available either in the Printer System Preferences or in Software Update.  This installation of Mavericks has been troublesome from the start, and this is yet another in a long line of issues.  (Finder disappearing and restarting, Safari crashing, etc...).  This is the THIRD reinstallation of Mavericks and it looks to be more stable, but the Printer Drivers are missing.  Oddly, in one of my previous attempts to isntall Mavericks, the Printer installation process worked perfectly.
Also, my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro which was gracefully upgraded from a Mountain Lion (10.8) has been bullet proof and rock solid.
Any idea how I can jiggle this iMac to recognize it needs to download and install the Epson print drivers to make the PictureMate work?

I resolved this myself by connecting the printer to a USB port, then running a reinstallation of Mavericks over the existing installation.  This time the software was properly installed, and its newer version properly showed up in the Software update.

  • Epson Picturemate Sizing

Go easy on me guys, I'm new to Macs. I'm trying to print from iPhoto to my Epson Picturemate. I'm getting 1/4 of the picture on the 4x6 paper. How do I force iPhoto to resize the photo for 4x6 paper? Thanks in advance!

    shumes:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. To crop a photo to 4x6 in iPhoto bring it up in the edit window (double clicking on the photo is the default). Then in the edit window select 4x6 in the Constrain menu. A portion of the image will be whited out so to speak. If you want portrait go back to the Constrain menu and select Portrait at the bottom. Now you can drag the cursor over that part of the image you want to print and the rest will show pale. Now click on the crop button at the bottom and then on the Done button. Next follow these steps:
Steps for printing 4 x 6 prints from iPhoto:
    1 - crop the photo to 4 x 6 beforehand in iPhoto.
2 - in Page Setup select your printer, proper page orientation and 4x6 or 4x6 borderless
3 - click once on the picture you want to print to make sure it's selected.
4 - now click on the Print button in iPhoto.
5 - in the iPhoto print window, select your printer again, select Style = "Standard Prints", Size= 4x6 and click on One photo per page.
6 - click on the Print button.
That should get you the 4x6 on the paper. I use an Epson R200 and am assuming the Picturemate would the same workflow. Good luck.

  • Epson PictureMate and AE

I'm trying to get my Epson PictureMate to print with the AE and also have tried connecting directly via usb connection to our iMAC/G5. Print Setup Utility (OSX 10.4.11) finds the printer and then I select "Epson" but then I get a list of Epson "gimp" drivers for Epson CL/EM/MC/MJ/PM/Stylus. Does anybody have any idea which driver to select?

I resolved this myself by connecting the printer to a USB port, then running a reinstallation of Mavericks over the existing installation.  This time the software was properly installed, and its newer version properly showed up in the Software update.

  • I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  It is a new printer and it has been replaced because we thought it was the printer.  Basically, when I print from Excel, only color will print.

I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  We have replaced the printer and we are still having the same problem.  When I try to print from Excel, only the color prints.  Any suggestions?

Has anyone else had issues not being able to print black (such as a document)?  My photos print great, but when I try to print a simple black-ink document, it won't work. Any suggestions?

  • Print quality on Epson Stylus Photo R800

    Hi...
I'm using Lightroom 3.6 and an Epson Stylus Photo R800. This printer is capable of printing very high quality pictures, as I know by using it for almost 5 years.
I have bought Lightroom about 6 month ago. I have tried anything I can think off to get those fabulus pictures out of my Epson printer. I alterd color managment settings, changed print resolutions, downloaded new printerdriver, ... Nothing works. Print quality when printing from Lightroom is very poor. Bad colors (dark), stripes over the whole image, it looks like nothing realy.
One of the things that I noticed is that the maximum resolution for printing in LR is 720 ppi. My Epson is capable of 1550 ppi.
I see a lot of discussion going about print quality with lightroom... I think however this is a more basic problem. My print qualiti is realy very very bad...
Does anyone have similar problems or (even better) a hint to a solution?
    Note,
When I export a picture to .jpg format (I shoot in RAW only), and print this directly from Windows, I do get the perfect picture a was used to... I cannot believe that Lightroom is unable to do the same.
    Thanks!
    Erik.

  • IPad 4 prints small on Epson airprint printer

Either by using Airprint from Safari or either Airprint or Google Cloud Print (GCP) from Chrome yields an A5-sized printed in the top/middle of the A4 page. I'm trying to print a pdf in A4 format to an A4 page.
All settings are correct as far as I can find. There's nothing to control anything size-related in Airprint, GCP has settings for papersize and enlarging and such which are all set to normal. Changing them doesn't help anyway.
    I'm getting everything at quarter-size.
All other printers and even the Samsung Note tablet print fine. Everything is wireless on the same network. Printer is an Epson WF3540***. In the config of the wireless section there's nothing to control page output.
Is there anything I can do? My iPad is a 16Gb so it's rather strapped for memory. I'd rather not get another app to control something that shouldn't be happening anyway.

    Apparently the problem was temporary.
Although I had this problem before, this time it was 1 .pdf that only printed to a quarter of its size from the webpage in Chrome using either Airprint or Google Cloud print (GCP). This pdf was generated by a form in that webpage. Printing in GCP, paper size was set to A4, no enlargement was specified and it was set to fill the page, but it still only printed A5 size on an A4 sized paper. Of course none of that can be specified in Airprint. After saving it to iBooks it did print well.
Other pdf downoaded in Chrome did print fine from Chrome using both Arirprint and Google Cloud Print.
So I can't isolate the problem well enough. This topic may be closed.

  • PSE 9 printing problem with Epson printer

    hello there,
I am using PSE 9  with Windows XP and Epson 3880 printer. I have re-installed all programs/drivers a couple of times. PSE9 Printer dialogue will not let me print choosing "Let Photoshop Manage Colour".  It will only let me print with "Let Printer Manage Colour".  I am using Epson papers.
When I select "Let Photoshop Manage Colour", a box appears saying "ICC profile no longer available" and it won't let me print.  Is this a PSE 9 problem or an Epson problem?
    thanks !!!

Well, I actually found the answer. I spoke to an Epson Rep!
I used to have the Epson 2200 printer, then the Epson 3800, and now I use the 3880 printer on Windows XP and Windows 7 on my laptop.
When you uninstall the other 2 printers, the color profiles are still in your program files and can become corrupted.
This is why, in PSE 9, when I checked the box Let Photoshop Elements Manage Colour, it woildn`t print and instead there was the pop-up box ``ICC profile no longer available`` because it was trying to access the old paper profiles and not the ones that came with the 3880. I use Epson papers, by the way.
The solution was to go into C-Drive, Program Files, System 32, spool, drivers, colour, and this opens to the ICC profiles used by the printer. Then I deleted the old paper profiles associated with my former printers.
    And it worked !!
